Demonswrath charge depends on the amount of damage you would have received if the attack had hit you. So hard mode -> enemies do more damage -> faster charging. The surging light tome, though, is everything good about this spell (crowd control, stamina regen) without all the bad (long cast time, stamina drain). Always worth keeping a few with you if your vocation is magically impaired or you're going up against the 7 living armors in black abbey.

If you use abyssal anguish, full moon strike and great cannon together, you can shred any bosses health in SECONDS. I used it on some cyclops and they fall down so damn fast. It's especially effective against golems since you need to hit specific spots. The orbs auto aim to the one that's glowing the most 😂
I feel kinda special for being a fan of this niche game but also sad that no one gives a sh* to this masterpiece. And thanks for this video . I've been playing this game for quite a while but only now I'm considering playing as mystic knight . I thought I was low IQ for this vocation, even though I'm at level 114 rn
I just recently started playing Dragon's Dogma for the first time, and I've been having a ton of fun with the Mystic Knight. My current favorite combo is to 1) enchant my pawns and myself, usually with Holy, then 2) pop down one or two Magick/Great Cannons, and 3) waste the rest of my stamina by spamming Tusk/Antler Toss. So very many little balls flying everywhere, it's hilarious. I did not realize that Dark/Abyssal Anguish added extra hits, so thank you for that tidbit. I'll have to try and implement that now.
I'm so glad that someone is still making guides for this game. Just picked it up and these have been great for making me realize that "big dude with a big sword" isn't the only way I want to play. New dilemma.. I want to play everything now! Can't wait for an assassin guide. I don't know anything about the class but I'm really enjoying the melee side of Strider and I'm assuming Assassin expands on that.
Also, when I first used vortex sigil, I thought I was doing something wrong. It just... Didn't work. Small goblins just wouldn't get pulled in. I was half expecting them to be pulled in like a large meat balloon 😅 On a side note, I knew grigori was weak to darkness because my pawn, a sorcerer, casted maelstrome while he was perched, taking HALF HIS HEALTH BARS. Not bar, BARS. IN ONE MOVE.
mistyc knight is the parry god of the game, You prepare, you set up, but all you have to do in the end is just one perfect block to wipe any bosses in the game
Us weird people who like to use this class as a caster with a staff have a word for you Brontide, but instead of jumping to release the lightning strikes around you a perfect block with a riposte enchantment on the shield. It can actually be quite fun.
While I run around mainly with a mace in this build, I do have a back-up staff. Sometimes on Bitterblack you just need a bit of cheese, and Sopor absolutely dunks on the triple Garm invaders, while Holy Bolts takes care of annoying flying Dragons and especially Cursed Dragons. That last one is especially funny when you fire it from the safety of a doorway and it just tracks and annihilates the dragon with no danger to you. As for the Garm, I tend to switch back to my mace after Sopor tuckered them out and fire off a Stone Forest or something to wake them up violently, rinse and repeat til victory.
Yay you're back! Hope you are doing a bit better! I wish I could make my pawn a mystic knight. I did try a run with mystic knight but I just couldn't utilise it fully which is a shame as I really enjoyed it.....basically, I fail at blocking for some of the skills!!!
If you enjoy the class I say keep at it - consistent perfect blocking will only come with experience, the more time you invest into it the more natural it will start to feel! If you want to practice I'd recommend finding goblins since they have some long wind-ups to their attacks that can be forgiving enough to give you an idea of when you should be raising the shield. Also, don't forget augments that increase the window for it! I don't recall the exact name but there was one in my fighter guide that was a godsend
Prescience is the augment. You get it at rank 7 fighter. Also, having an elemental riposte skill, Demonswrath or Holy Grace on your shield extends the perfect block window.
This video made me laugh so much 😂 Defo my favourite class/build I’ve ever played in any RPG, I always try and recreate it in other games but miss the hitty magic ball of projectile death
I kinda agree that using great cannon is cheesing the game and can ruin the challenge, but the true art of mystic knight is building traps with Cannon, sigil and (holy) riposte, luring your enemies in and obliterating them
Yeah spamming the cannon with normal attacks is cheesy and boring, both conceptually and in practice. On the other hand, triggering the cannon through the skills you mentioned is awesome and makes you feel like a tactical badass.
Before the repackaged they game as DD: Dark Arisen Abyssal Anguish used to activate on great cannon. Each swing would hit the ball three times and ensure that your game console melts into slag. It was great with three cannons active at the same time.
Vortex sigil is good, you just have to be creative with it. For example, mixing it with the only other of your unlockable abilities that's also a sigil, the result?, small and medium enemies fly away just like with only the ruinous sigil, but the vortex actually manages to catch them forcing them to come back for more because they're knocked down and can't resist it's pull. Basically, enemy tries to attack you, R.S makes it fly away knocking it out of balance, since the enemy is out of balance it can't resist V.S pull, the enemy is pulled towards the center of the V.S and consequentially is hit again by the R.S barrier. This is actually so effective that you'll have to recast R.S multiple times for large crowds of enemies. Note: If you're playing with pawns, you have to spam the "Come!" command so that they don't lure enemies away from your sigil based loop of death.
Very late answer here, but either works! Full physical is better if you want to swing your sword directly into faces imo, but elemental weapons have useful effects and spells like Ruinous Sigil and Stone Forest scale better with them. I personally always carry an Almace for the freezing status and to complement my fire-based skills
😆 I just changed my vocation to Mystic Knight after reaching level 25 today…I bought this game back in 2018 from the PlayStation store and forgot all about it until a few months ago..I can’t believe I had this game for that long in my library and never touched it…it’s the Dark Risen version so it makes it even better….I’m definitely getting part 2 on the 22nd…the game looks like it could be GOTY.
Well, check back here after a few weeks (give or take) and hopefully you'll see some guides popping up! Planning to cover each vocation just like I did with DD1!
Love your guides! I used to play this game when I was a kid and now I realise I played it wrong....I don't even know how I managed to beat the dragon...
"Play as a mage with heavy armor, dont do that you weirdo" I tried it agaisnt the giant goreclops in the midnight helix, it felt... different. and weirdly fun.
Vortex Sigel does do an alright at it's job, if your using it correctly. It's not meant to stop targets in their track, more to slow them down so you have an easier time to keep them corralled. The issue is... there's many other objectively better ways to do that. Like, why not just, you know, carry a pocket staff for sorpor?
What I like about this vid is the fact that you make notes on the other skills instead of just the great balls i mean cannon ability lol. I almost wish cannon was a legit mega blast like guts cannon is with a CD or something and element of your choice.
Surprised I didn't find this in the comments, but the real power of Great Cannon is unlocked by combining it with Ruinous Sigil - the Sigil will proc the Cannon every time it's tripped by an enemy entering it, effectively turning the Cannon into an *automated turret* and leaving you free to engage while it lays down consistent covering fire.
Just beat the game the other day, and I am hating myself for not giving this vocation a try. Not because I wasn't aware of it, but I just figured I'd go through all the archery types first and I'm currently on the Everfall as a Magic Archer and frankly kinda hating it (not sure why people say it's easy mode, I must be doing something wrong because my dps is shit despite the 700+ power weapon I have)
As someone that has played Mystic Knight for quite a while, I fully agree about Great Cannon ruining the fun of the class. Despite this, I think everyone should take it, but be more conservative with when they use it. Great Cannon allows pesky flying enemies or mages/archers in out-of-the-way spots to be dealt with easily, and allows you to thin a massive herd of enemies before they get close. It's also split phys/magic and as such can be used to deal with metal golem disks that can't be reached with melee, if you hit the disk in question with an Ingle from a staff first. So yeah, always carry at least one staff with Ingle, and Great Cannon as a tool for fliers and large crowds, but don't rely on it.
As an open-minded individual who loves this game to death, I couldn't get into this class. I was leveling peacefully, and after getting a Strider to max rank I thought, I'm gonna play a MK next so my stats stay balanced, then switch to something like Ranger after I get it to max rank. Switching from Strider's mobility to Mystic Knight's "please sir, I just need to finish this long setup real quickly, then you can hit me so that only *then* I can deal damage to you" just annoyed me. I don't like when reactive classes are too passive, I like my defenses to be more active so that I can use them in the middle of my offense.
What is the outro song that plays during the highlights of the characters, by the way ? It's pretty epic ! Great videos, you just earned a new sub ! I hope you post a reaction of the new DD2 gameplay video released by IGN soon. Cheers from Brazil !
Can i use magic with the sword or is Just for staff cause i see you with a sword using spells and all i can do is parry abilitys cause other ones are for staff
I would but I've been doing my best to keep the guides relatively concise (and even then they still take me ages lmao) though ultimately I wouldn't worry too much about this, so long as your gear is halfway decent they end up mattering less than raw levels in the long run anyhow. Nothing wrong with optimizing either!
i wanna know what stats i should build and what uses what though. like does my magick affect my base attacks or only when i have a enchantment on. does my physical affect the balls etc..
As a rule of thumb, physical affects purely non-magical attacks (swords, bows, fists, ect.) and skills that purely utilize the weapon. Magick affects purely magical damage, so balls, spells, magic-based skills and enchanted weapons - however it's important to note, enchanted weapons deal both physical AND magical damage simultaneously, hence the natural damage boost.
One problem with this class: NO SHIELD DRUM! this vocation made me want to become the protector tank of my party while my pawn sorcerer and ranger do their big juicy damage from range. Only for me to then buff my shield, Enemies ignore me and run to the lady raining meteors on their head (makes sense to be fair), And now I'm running after enemies trying to get them of friendlies while my shield buffs run out and I can't use them.
Chances are you've invested a lot into martial classes like Assassin which provides relatively little in the way of magic attack gains, that said overall level along with a powerful weapon should at least make up some of the difference. I'll consider this once all the guides are finished up!
A good mix of strength and magic attack will go a long way. Leveling as fighter, assassin, sorcerer and maybe some strider to get good strength, health, defence and magic attack would be an idea. More strider if you need more re stamina without sacrificing much defense or Magic
The big joke is that CAPCOM seems to have remove that class from DD2... it was not showcases at all, in gameplay footages or trailer... I hope I am wrong. This is a deal breaker to me...
@@ThiefofCrystals I might, but honestly, I am not trilled at all about the new classes, the trickster and the spearhand... I want a tank build that also use magic, and the mystic knight was the answer... I like a lot of what I saw... but I will wait until it release and there is reviews for sure. Thats a huge disapointment for me...
@@Klondike877 I'll do my best to convince you once it's released lol! If it's any consolation, I feel fairly certain we still have more vocations to come, so keey an eye out!
I am feeling a need to replay it once more and im already torn on what to use, the classes are cool. Done sorcerer twice so its out of question, despite the crazy shit you can do with it. Maybe magic archer again, or mystic knight. This one imo suffers from the limitation of skill slots, you really want to run all shield elemental abilites lol.
i will put this out there in defense of vortex sigil, there is nothing more entertaining than using vortex sigil in the middle if ruinous sigil, every time a gobo gets knocked into the air, that vortex pulls them right back in and repeats the operation.
No, sadly, because it is tied to a mace or sword. The parry abilities work though, and with the arms that enhance shields and your twin Bloody Knuckles be prepared to absolutely shred an enemy with one Perfect Block.
@@vgdrent2852 Once you get to Level 10, you can change your vocation. This can be done by going to BBI before Grand Soren if you want to get some BBI items. It is a higher-level area but doable and there are plenty of guides online to watch for this.

Un gran personaje, me encanta la idea de ser un caballero casual, pero al tener las habilidades mágicas le da un plus, que te hace sentir más completo
Spam full moon slash on the magic cannon.
Abyssal anguish is very good if you want to focus on more physical skills. Especially good on blitz strike.
The cannon spam gets hilarious when you trigger it with ruinous sigil or if you place the orbs perfectly and get off a counter to trigger them.
Think of assassin as a fighter that has access to a bow and does some of the best damage while climbing on an enemy in the game.
Same. Im running Assassin rn but this vid is making me consider switching to MK.
From memory they have one of the coolest attackq ever where you start climbing the enemy like black window, to destroy them
Also, when I first used vortex sigil, I thought I was doing something wrong. It just... Didn't work. Small goblins just wouldn't get pulled in.
I was half expecting them to be pulled in like a large meat balloon 😅
On a side note, I knew grigori was weak to darkness because my pawn, a sorcerer, casted maelstrome while he was perched, taking HALF HIS HEALTH BARS. Not bar, BARS. IN ONE MOVE.
mistyc knight is the parry god of the game, You prepare, you set up, but all you have to do in the end is just one perfect block to wipe any bosses in the game
Are there any katanas in this game? Like sumn dark souls shit
The world's most magical backpack. That's all it ended up being.
Thanks for this vids bro.
Waited to level 30 to change vocations because I forgot about them.
Yeah, having both prescience and upgrading the counters to the riposte variants give a huge amount of leeway for getting off the perfect blocks.
This video made me laugh so much 😂
Defo my favourite class/build I’ve ever played in any RPG, I always try and recreate it in other games but miss the hitty magic ball of projectile death
@@raymondwaldon5819 tbh, that happened on dark arisen on ps3, as well. Great cannon destroyed framerates.
I'm playing the DDO beta on the private server and I was looking for a tutorial like this, thx
I love Mystic Knight and Magick Archer tbh i love how similar the concept of Magic Empowered fighter but how differently they play
I love Furi soundtrack at the beginning ❤
5:43 to be fair though, those hob-goblins are far more powerful than a regular goblin!
He's back with the guides
5 month cough? You gots the 'rona
Great video as always
I like ball just for flying enemies. Homing makes it easy to
How did you level to mystic knight? Start as fighter then go to mystic knight? What levels in which job? Thank you! Love the video.
Which weapons we should play as Mystic Knight ? Full physics damages? Or magic weapons?
Planning to cover each vocation just like I did with DD1!
i just CANT STAND having such big cool shield always kept on back
This is the one class I just couldn't force myself to get into.
Can't wait for my favorite class, Magic "Easy mode" Archer
Love your guides! I used to play this game when I was a kid and now I realise I played it wrong....I don't even know how I managed to beat the dragon...
Thanks so much!
Praise be upon us 🙏🙏!!
The boi is back
Wrath of the Righteous’ - Mystic music!!
"Play as a mage with heavy armor, dont do that you weirdo" I tried it agaisnt the giant goreclops in the midnight helix, it felt... different. and weirdly fun.
Love this game 🐉
Vortex Sigel does do an alright at it's job, if your using it correctly.
It's not meant to stop targets in their track, more to slow them down so you have an easier time to keep them corralled.
The issue is... there's many other objectively better ways to do that. Like, why not just, you know, carry a pocket staff for sorpor?
i always go magick archer when i make a new character but im going to try this build now seems fun
By the gods I love this game. I played it back on 360 when it was free on it but I never touched Mystic Knight.
My favorite part was when you lay down a vortex sigil and a goblin just tackles you through it 😂😂
Great Canon + ruinous sigil + full moon slash go brrrrrrr
What I like about this vid is the fact that you make notes on the other skills instead of just the great balls i mean cannon ability lol.
I almost wish cannon was a legit mega blast like guts cannon is with a CD or something and element of your choice.
This game still looks fantastic in 4k.
Great video as always
Thank this is just what I needed, more great content.
I'm happy I can provide!
: - ) ❤
Surprised I didn't find this in the comments, but the real power of Great Cannon is unlocked by combining it with Ruinous Sigil - the Sigil will proc the Cannon every time it's tripped by an enemy entering it, effectively turning the Cannon into an *automated turret* and leaving you free to engage while it lays down consistent covering fire.
I did mention Ruinous Sigil synergizes very well with Great Cannon, but I didn't go into all the details so fair play
Wow it makes me want to try this class
Just beat the game the other day, and I am hating myself for not giving this vocation a try. Not because I wasn't aware of it, but I just figured I'd go through all the archery types first and I'm currently on the Everfall as a Magic Archer and frankly kinda hating it (not sure why people say it's easy mode, I must be doing something wrong because my dps is shit despite the 700+ power weapon I have)
what's the song used around 0:50 called?
The mage with heavy armor comment 🤣🤣🤣
I know i m a bit late but could you share the sliders for this character? It looks awesome
Great video man
How can choose mystic knight ? I'm newbie first time play DD !
Once you arrive at Gran Soren, head to the inn and speak to Asalam, you can switch to the vocation there.
@@ThiefofCrystals ty bro ❤️
I used the same outro music for Magick Archer as I did Mystic Knight
I'm sorry for this failure
What is the outro song that plays during the highlights of the characters, by the way ? It's pretty epic !
Great videos, you just earned a new sub ! I hope you post a reaction of the new DD2 gameplay video released by IGN soon.
Cheers from Brazil !
8:25 I can't stop laughing at this stupid shit lmao
Can i use magic with the sword or is Just for staff cause i see you with a sword using spells and all i can do is parry abilitys cause other ones are for staff
I've been waiting for this
HES BACK lmao just in time im playing DD again
Could you also recommend armor sets/weapons you think work really well with the builds?
I would but I've been doing my best to keep the guides relatively concise (and even then they still take me ages lmao) though ultimately I wouldn't worry too much about this, so long as your gear is halfway decent they end up mattering less than raw levels in the long run anyhow. Nothing wrong with optimizing either!
@@ThiefofCrystals been playing DDDA for like 3ish years now before finding out about BBI 😅 Just been farming daimon for better gear now lmao
Omg huge subscribe helpful and more importantly, HILARIOUS
i wanna know what stats i should build and what uses what though. like does my magick affect my base attacks or only when i have a enchantment on. does my physical affect the balls etc..
One problem with this class:
NO SHIELD DRUM!
this vocation made me want to become the protector tank of my party while my pawn sorcerer and ranger do their big juicy damage from range.
Only for me to then buff my shield,
Enemies ignore me and run to the lady raining meteors on their head (makes sense to be fair),
And now I'm running after enemies trying to get them of friendlies while my shield buffs run out and I can't use them.
He's back babyyyyyyyy
I would like to see a video on how the stats work in DDDA cause i do absolutely no damage with my mistyc knight
More strider if you need more re stamina without sacrificing much defense or Magic
isn't Mystic Knight recommended weapon ish the One-handed Mace?
The big joke is that CAPCOM seems to have remove that class from DD2... it was not showcases at all, in gameplay footages or trailer... I hope I am wrong. This is a deal breaker to me...
Regardless of MK's presence I implore you to try DD2 all the same - this game looks far too good to pass up on
@@ThiefofCrystals I might, but honestly, I am not trilled at all about the new classes, the trickster and the spearhand...
@@ThiefofCrystals I love the first game, yeah Ill keep an eye on your videos! Good video btw.
@@Klondike877 Thank you kindly!
Where did you get that sword from?❤
Devilsbane, acquired from purifying Bitterblack Weapon Level 3.
Thanks 😊
What is a good leveling path for the mystic knight?
I'd say try to opt for at least a handful of Sorcerer levels for magic damage, same goes for Assassin for physical damage
Any tips on perfect blocking
Great music choice my friend. Have you played wrath of the righteous?
I have a bit, very fun time if a bit time-consuming lol
The only shield based augment I like to use is prescience.
Would Great Canon work with the brawler build?
No, sadly, because it is tied to a mace or sword. The parry abilities work though, and with the arms that enhance shields and your twin Bloody Knuckles be prepared to absolutely shred an enemy with one Perfect Block.
Anyone know if wearing Magnanimous Cloak while using holyheals the whole party?
How do you get that holy shield ? From the ur dragon or no
If memory serves Ur Dragon is correct
Vortex Sigil also seems to only work in a horizontal plane and will do jack shit to that annoying harpy flying just out of melee range.
Just started this game.
I can only chose between 3 classes, how do i unlock mystick night?
I believe you need to get to Grand Soren first.
@@vgdrent2852 Once you get to Level 10, you can change your vocation. This can be done by going to BBI before Grand Soren if you want to get some BBI items. It is a higher-level area but doable and there are plenty of guides online to watch for this.
Imagine it in DD2
Funny
