Extremely helpful. I’ve had mine shut off from being too hot about 5 times now, I cleared away everything even close to it & even put small blocks under it so air can flow underneath it. That stopped it from overheating. But dust is very bad where I live. I know for damn sure it’s dusty inside that case. This vid will probably keep my system from kicking the bucket. Thanks.

Was really scary doing this, was frightened to damage the console but if you follow each step and use the right screwdrivers for each bit you’ll be fine.
Great Video, Thank You! Very intuitive and step by step. Watch the whole video or it's very possible you'll break something. Start to finish took me about 2 hours never having done this before. Tools needed T8, T10, I used a .33mm spark plug gapper to disconnect the ribbon cable for the usb port, I used 3 cans of compressed air, didn't have a air compressor(if the can starts to get cold, switch to another can to avoid shooting ice. Only 10 screws total. Thanks again for the video!
I like this video my man, you showed disassembly and reassembly and have told people not to go too far, and basically that at some point this will need to be done, either by that person themselves or someone that has qualifications and experience doing so, I feel confident enough to try cleaning my system when I get the right tools, thank you so much dude, ✌️💜🙂 PS, ignore the "haters"
Thank you very much! This video helped me out a lot, I got my Xbox one x running nice, cool, quiet and clean. Definitely easy to follow instructions in the video.
Thank you so much this really helped me out! I was having a overheating problem before I took it apart. Now that I've cleaned it, it seems to be fine. I was contemplating buying a whole new system. Your video saved me hundreds of dollars literally! You get a like and subscribe from me good sir because you deserve it!
Appreciate the detail. Opened mine tonight. Wish I had a stronger air source to clean out the system but just the amount of dust around the outside interior framing was definitely worth the time. All back together in no time.
Thank you,; Although I did fail to mention that you should not get the fan spinning very fast during the cleaning if you knew anything about electronics you would have the ability to see what I was doing and you would have spotted what I was doing so as to not get that fan spinning fast. So next time try not to make your self look educated by pointing out a flaw regarding my video and just let me know I left out some information regarding not getting the fan spinning fast, that way you do not look like a TH-cam educated fake repairman trying to nitpick one of my videos.
Hello! Great video! I agree that the Xbox One X with its blower type fan is a dust magnet and is not a great thermal design. I'm sorry for all the hate comments, I loved this video!
I accidentally sprayed canned air in my disc drive once when I cleaned it the 1st time. Now im really scared my system is gonna break. But I'm glad I watched.
1st because most of you are going to use improper tools and damage or kill your system 2nd it is best to not be invasive as things can go badly wrong very quick 3rd if after cleaning the system is running quite the thermal past dose not need to be replaced Note: Thermal paste can and will last 10 to 15 years if the system is not allowed to run hot by simply cleaning it from time to time so the system can do its job.
Hey Daniel! When cleaning, should we prevent the fan from turning or have things changed to prevent concern in not doing so? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Do not let the fan spin up fast or it will put electricity in where it was only made for electricity to come out and that is bad, so alternate the air in short blasts or stop the fan then blast it out good allow the fan to move to a different location and repeat untell no dust comes out

Helpfull video, thanks alot. Got a question, is it normal that the electric part in the console makes loud noises? Not the fan, console runs normaly. Just asking ;)
Let me put it like this: Everyone's ears are different some individuals hear stuff in these systems I can not??? they bring them into the shop and are saying don't you hear that? So I can not say one way or the other as to whether or not you have a problem without having it in my shop although I do offer free testing to see if you do have a problem if you are local to me and can bring it in? Click here and check the map www.clovisxbox360repair.com/contact.html With that there are parts that make noises like disk drives and hard drives you may just be overly sensitive to the noise of the system if everything is working and the system has been cleaned out properly I would not worry too much unless the sound is just so distracting that you can not play games.
Think you could add a tool list lol i had none of these small tools and had to watch as i was getting them. Regardless thank you my console is probably the worst you’ll see it shut itself down yesterday for overheating and when i turned it back on it told me ot was an anti heat protection.
like you would even know, please do not be repeating shit from other TH-cam videos posted by uneducated fakes and do not offer suggestions that you are in no way qualified to make.
Initially you said it was brought in for a potential HDMI port issue or video issue. Did cleaning it resolve that? I'm having the same issue on my Scorpio where it won't display but turns on.
I told you the system was in for an "HDMI Port Repair" and was using the system to show you how to properly clean it to avoid damaging the system using other TH-cam videos that will have you do things you should not be doing unless a cleaning duse not help, and to help you slow down and even avoid costly repairs. Now that is not to say a cleaning can not or will not fix your system I have cleaned customer systems with No Power, kicking out of games, shutting off randomly, turning on or off for no reason, and lots of other things that simply started working perfectly after the cleanout shown in this video, although I hate to say this 98% of the time anything other than overheating and it tends to be a little too late for a Proper cleaning and you are in need of a repair, something I strongly recommend you "Do not try" using TH-cam Videos as for anyone problem your system displays there can be 1,000's of reasons and TH-cam will only give you 1 or 2 possibilities meaning the majority of you will make your eventual repair way more expensive or just flat out kill the system [something I see almost every day]
Unfortunately I stumbled across your video after I had already disassembled my xbox one x and now it won’t turn on 😂 I used the wrong screw and went into the power supply like a plonker (or so i thought) I’ve since bought a new power supply, reassembled the console and it still wont work (it turns on then instantly turns off) id be eternally grateful if you might have an idea of what i might have done and possibly a solution. I’m now resorting to using my old xbox one and I can’t cope anymore 😂

I opened up my dead XB1X and I noticed a good amount of dust in it. I also noticed one of the screws from the x-clamp was missing. From your experience, it that common with the build quality of the 1x and could that have contributed to my Xbox dying?
Well.. there goes my Scorpio edition. When I was putting my Xbox back together, the screws wouldn't go back into the spot where the connector for the USB port is, the thing he stressed the most not to damage. The first screw went in fine, but the second one got stuck sideways and ended up breaking off the piece that held the screw in place.. no matter how straight I tried to align the screw, it went in sideways. I unscrewed the other one to make sure it was the right screw and they matched, and when I went to screw it back in.. same thing, got stuck sideways and broke off the other connector. I don't know if my Xbox won't work again because I can't even get the damn screws back in anyway! Fuck my life 😭 I wanted to clean my special edition Xbox and ended up breaking it and it's all cause the screws wouldn't go back in properly!
I’ve had mine for about 3 years and have never cleaned it and now it’s frequently doing this thing where it takes about 5 minutes for the screen to display anything and then it just sits on the green Xbox one screen infinitely. I’ve never dropped it or damaged it in anyway and it’s pretty well ventilated, do you think it’s a dust issue or a bad hardware issue that’ll mean getting a new one?
Totally fixable 99.9% of the time but there are 100s of reasons for what you have described try to fix any one thing on the recommendation of a youtube video that will only give you 1 or 2 possibilities and you will do one of 4 things 1. Hello TheHGCGamersClub ( Daniel ), my name is Fernando and I currently own an Xbox One X. An issue I recently have with my Xbox console is every time I load up a game my console automatically turns off every time. I was wondering if it has to do with the dust filled inside my Xbox or i need to buy a new one. I did every solution hard reset, unplugging everything and wait a couple minutes and re plug everything again, reinstall everything, and let it cool down for 1 day if its a overheating problem but nothing seems to fix it. I have never had this problem for 2 years until 4 days straight today. I Live in Los Angeles, California and I was wondering if I could take it to you to take a look at it and maybe clean my Xbox One X console to see if cleaning it would fix my console. Thanks - Fernando
Although the dust inside the system is or was the cause of your problem it is most likely too late for cleaning and you need a repair you should take it to a qualified repair shop if you can find one ask for proof of some kind of education in component level electronics other than TH-cam and know that Microsoft does not certify in electronic, they certify only for software and operating systems. That is a lie most shops tell customers to trick them into thinking they are qualified to work on game systems.
@@truthinchrist474 That is not true that is bullshit from uneducated fake TH-cam repairman although it is not as liquid as new thermal paste it is not dry but prolonged overheating due to dust build-up in the system will bake it dry in as little as a year and a half depending on your air quality if you open and clean the day your warranty expires on any system and clean it and keep it cleaned out the stock thermal paste can last for 15 years with no problems.
Hello I’m having an overheating issue on my Xbox one x and I’m not sure what’s causing it this has started happening in then last 6 months after playing modern warfare. Do you know what it could be?
Yes but there are lots of reasons for overheating if cleaning it properly does not do the trick I strongly suggest you find a qualified shop for your repair as 98% of you will kill the system or make your repair way more expensive than it needed to be.
It’s the game bro... I have the exact same issue had it professionally cleaned and still same thing is happening. @@dannyashh2423 Sounds to me like you took it to a TH-cam-educated fake repair shop because it is not the game in the system it is the system and you were ripped off for the service provided.
@@ClovisX Well it sounds to me like you think you are the only decent repair shop around… I'm not sure how you can tell me its the system and not the game without even seeing it yourself. For a start I play several different titles on the same console, no problems at all and barely any fan noise. When it comes to playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare, as soon as I load up in to the menu my fans get turned in to jet engines and it doesn't calm down until I close the application or if I try to play through it will shut down the console, bear in mind this is at the main menu of the game not while a massive map is loaded, just a menu screen... From what I have read it is due to uncapped frame rates in the menu’s but I'm no expert so I cannot confirm or deny that. This issue is well documented across both Microsoft’s and Call of Duty’s help forums and it is a problem specifically with the Xbox Series X. I don't know how you can say with such confidence that it is the system when it only applies to this one specific game and I am not the only one dealing with the issue on said specific game. As for me getting ripped off, I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion either because all I did was take it for a clean and thats exactly what they did. Just so you know for future reference games do have bugs that can affect the way a system runs, just because you are not aware of them doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
@@dannyashh2423 Considering I have not found a single game store or shop that has a repairman that went to school for basic soldering let alone component level electronics in the USA yet, I would say I am not a decent repair shop but rather the best repair shop. Now if ever you find a repair shop with a repairman willing to show you proof of education in component level electronics other than TH-cam videos let me know I will post a referral to them. As for me, I show on this channel a video showing proof of my education & experience in component level electronics in the US Army and I have hole lot more education than that going all the way back before the internet was born way before personal computers were sold to the public along with education in thermal dynamics and lots more and for your information I have personally repaired over 20 thousand + Xboxes of each and every model ever made, so when I tell you that game is not overheating your system "IT IS NOT" You have a problem in your system that is causing your system to not cool itself properly your system is running very hot the whole time just below its threshold of kicking the fan up to full speed this happens very quickly because the system is already very hot and so when you play hi graphics games it pushes your system over the heat limit ramps up the fans and or just shuts off the system depending on what is actually bad or not working properly. As for your repairman that cleaned the system asks him for proof of education in electronics, I will bet you dollars to donuts that he has no education in electronics other than TH-cam and may not know how to properly clean a system he may have did something stupid like replacing the thermal paste before trying it out after getting the dust-out and I find from hundreds and hundreds of Xbox one X game systems that come to me after visiting all the shops around hear for the exact same thing the fake repairmen do not know how to properly remove the X-Clamp let alone reinstall the X-Clamp properly so that it will not do exactly what you are talking about.
I’ve cleaned my fan, cleared by cache and my Xbox is still saying it is ‘overheating.’ But it only happens when I load onto one game, I load onto the game for about 30 seconds and it shuts my Xbox off. All my other games work perfectly fine is there anything else I can do before considering to go and get professional help?
You Should seek professional help at this point but ask for proof of education or you may as well save yourself some money and buy a new system after trying to fix it yourself something the vast majority of you will destroy the system or make more wors problems that make its repair way more expensive.
I like this video my man, you showed disassembly and reassembly and have told people not to go too far, and basically that at some point this will need to be done, either by that person themselves or someone that has qualifications and experience doing so, I feel confident enough to try cleaning my system when I get the right tools, thank you so much dude, ✌️💜🙂
PS, ignore the "haters"
Thank you very much! This video helped me out a lot, I got my Xbox one x running nice, cool, quiet and clean. Definitely easy to follow instructions in the video.
Thank you big time!! I followed step for step and you saved me money, time and a headache! Much appreciated sir!!
What screw drivers should I be using?
Appreciate the detail. Opened mine tonight. Wish I had a stronger air source to clean out the system but just the amount of dust around the outside interior framing was definitely worth the time. All back together in no time.
Great video! Next time you should prevent the fan from moving as you can short out the board.
From a Daniel in the uk to a Daniel in the states thank you 🙏🏻 this helped
Thanks man it worked perfect it loads discs now however we blew air into the disc drive we didn't know but still works great
Not everyone gets that lucky when it comes to blowing air into a disk drive that is a bad idea. Glad to hear yours is doing fine happy gaming.
Hello! Great video! I agree that the Xbox One X with its blower type fan is a dust magnet and is not a great thermal design. I'm sorry for all the hate comments, I loved this video!
Hey Daniel, many thanks for this informative, educational video, it will guide me in the future when i need to clean my system....thank you again.
You have a so much easier way that the other videos I saw, thank you!
Woww!!! I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THE BEST AND MOST SIMPLE EXPLANATION FOR THIS SPECIFIC TASK!!!! AHHHHMAZING!!!!!
Thank you so much best video for cleaning out my X and reassembly. Love the step by step.
I accidentally sprayed canned air in my disc drive once when I cleaned it the 1st time. Now im really scared my system is gonna break. But I'm glad I watched.
Thankyou sir that was perfect clear instructions and easy to follow u just saved me £300 for a new xbox
Why should you not go deeper? Im thinking about changing Thermalpaste is this a option or not? and if not cause of what?
great Video 🙂👍
1st because most of you are going to use improper tools and damage or kill your system
2nd it is best to not be invasive as things can go badly wrong very quick
3rd if after cleaning the system is running quite the thermal past dose not need to be replaced
Note: Thermal paste can and will last 10 to 15 years if the system is not allowed to run hot by simply cleaning it from time to time so the system can do its job.
Great video just cleaned my xbox one x after seeing this now works great 👍
Hey Daniel! When cleaning, should we prevent the fan from turning or have things changed to prevent concern in not doing so? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Do not let the fan spin up fast or it will put electricity in where it was only made for electricity to come out and that is bad, so alternate the air in short blasts or stop the fan then blast it out good allow the fan to move to a different location and repeat untell no dust comes out
@@ClovisX Definitely still something to keep in mind then. Thank you sir.
This video shows you proper cleaning and maintenance of your Xbox One X and will help you avoid 98% of all its problems. The recommended schedule for cleaning of any Xbox one X is once every 3 months for this system do to its upright heat sinks.

If you are unable to find a qualified repair shop near you I will allow a mail-in repair but you should call and or contact me using the above link before sending your system.
How far do you think I have to put the small ribbon in?
I can't get top back on
I'm sure you'll have fun repairing the new generation of consoles. Especially the new Xbox and its compact design lol
Facts
Ya, they do everything possible to try and make the systems less and less repairable every generation Hope you did not buy the new PS5 I have not checked out the new Xbox X series but I will get them very soon I am sure.
top case is hard to place back
17:00 (putting the ribbon back)
what, exactly, does "all the way up in there" mean? i have no idea if its supposed to slide easily, click into place, or what? far as i can tell i cant get the thing to slide up in there at all...
Thank you so much. Very detailed. Was able to clean my xbox without a problem!
So there is no need to disassemble it internally piece by piece?
Xbox one x has a mechanical drive (HDD) not an ssd... that’s what you’re hearing
What if I broke the little flap on the ribbon? Can I get it to stay?
Thank you for your time much appreciated
Very simple and informative, thanks
Thank you saved 500$ cleaning rather than buying a new one
thank you man, really needed it
Amazing tutorial, thank you very much.
Think you could add a tool list lol i had none of these small tools and had to watch as i was getting them. Regardless thank you my console is probably the worst you’ll see it shut itself down yesterday for overheating and when i turned it back on it told me ot was an anti heat protection.
Should have went deeper. Cleaning the heatsink and replacing the thermal paste (pads if necessary) are the most important things.
like you would even know, please do not be repeating shit from other TH-cam videos posted by uneducated fakes and do not offer suggestions that you are in no way qualified to make.
Sorry there are so many ways for someone that don't know what they are doing to completely destroy a system and TH-cam is the biggest killer of game systems that is why I mostly only show cleaning to prevent problems I will test it free see if I am close to you www.clovisxbox360repair.com/contact.html Call Me

I opened up my dead XB1X and I noticed a good amount of dust in it. I also noticed one of the screws from the x-clamp was missing. From your experience, it that common with the build quality of the 1x and could that have contributed to my Xbox dying?
it was most likely the dust build-up that killed your system but yes a missing Xclamp Screw could have totally killed your system quickly.
Well.. there goes my Scorpio edition.
Man I want to clean my Xbox one X so bad but I’m too nervous of breaking it.

Wast money 2. make your repair way more expensive 3 remove any possibility of any repair or 4. Win the lottery.
It’s weird because it goes through phases sometimes I can play 3+ hours not a problem and then the next day it will overheat every time I jump in to a match or weirdly enough when I get back from the gulag.
See if you are near me and I will test it free www.clovisxbox360repair.com/contact.html I can likely take care of your problem for as little as $40
By any chance is the game in question COD Modern Warfare: Warzone ?
