Well I bought a truck and my first oil change I had to use a pipe wrench on the rounded bolt. I put it back in thinking I would get a new one next time. Next time came around so I got the pipe wrench out and it would not come out. I bought 140 dollars worth of extraction tools with no luck. I ended up letting it cool down and used a hammer and chisel. Your video gave me the idea to make a cut with a sharp one then use a flat one. And bingo it came out. I used a chisel earlier but only the sharp one and it kept cutting the flat one made the difference. Thank you so 😂😂
So glad I have a bolt style plug, I've rounded off the edges before, took a file to it and bashed the next size down socket on with a hammer to get it out.
I always smack the face of the plug with a hammer to shock the threads before I even touch these front diff drain Bungs. Always worked for me then just 10mm in and it cracks every time.
I check my hex bits before using, if they are shiny and a bit rounded, I grind a bit off the end with a bench grinder. sometimes a larger torx bit will work with a impact driver too.
Geoff from Aus. The other way is to impact square onto the plug with a flat ended punch about the same diameter as the plug with a suitable sized hammer. Then screw out plug with your fingers.... have a great day..
I tried an 8mm Allen socket, then the next size up spline, then torx, then ribe but that wouldn't belt in very far, will try this next if not I'm welding on a socket, if that don't work I'm drilling it out and tapping the threads. Bloody alfa sump plug

Where do you get a blunt chisel from? Angle grinder special?
