  • Stripped both my fill and drain plugs trying to get them out. Pipe nipple extractors work good. Dont forget to like and subscribe!

Excellent video. Just the info I needed without a long drawn out dissertation. Helpful comments below too. Thank you!

@THEWORX99 The harbor freight extractor kit is an awesome sauce and a big life saver! Thanks! the first plug out of two was a learning curve! I found it best to give it light taps with a light hammer with counter-clockwise tension then continue with turning counter-clockwise using the ratchet drive but turning with very light torgue until it stops to give the extractor a good bite into the plug then turn with adding some elbow grease!

@@THEWORX99 PS: I got my extractor a good bite in the plug that it was not easy to get the extractor out after the plug was removed! But I managed!

@THEWORX99 First I am glad that I am not the only one who had this problem with a Polaris, which I believe if these were torque correctly at the factory and the specs in the service manual then I should not have this problem to begin with! So they say, LOL! I have two questions if you don't mind 1) what size drill bit did you use and was it reverse thread? did you drill straight through? 2) when putting in the Pipe nipple extractor, am I correct to say it by counter clockwise? PS: I hope this saves me a trip and down time for bringing my 2021 Ranger 1000 to the shop! Thank You in advance and have a good one!

I dont remember what size I used, no a regular drill bit works fine, and yes you use the extractor counterclockwise. And alot of people have this issue . Its a pretty terrible design

Thanks for making this video. I have a 2021 Polaris ranger North Star xp 1000. Was doing the rear diff myself and stripped the filler plug. Polaris masked these plugs like trash. Made the mistake of buying another Polaris as my replacement. Would like to get a better one online. Bought the nipple kit you show here at Home Depot.

@@THEWORX99 the tool you recommend worked for me. Although I had to remove the muffler. To make room to work on the rear diff filler. Thanks for the suggestion!

My thoughts exactly, are there better aftermarket replacements instead of using Polaris!

I have the same problem on my 2015 Polaris sportsman 570. With the fill plug on the front axle. Haven’t gotten it all yet because I’m waiting for extractor kit from Amazon. I think it’s the O ring. If we are putting it together without any lubricant on the O ring it won’t let go when taking it out.

I always oil the plugs. There a company online that sells stainless steel replacment plugs its a harder steel and there the same price as the cheapo polaris ones.

@@THEWORX99 Please let me know the website. I would be interested in getting some.
Oh, I did get mine out. With a two foot 1/2 inch breaker bar. When it broke loose it clicked real loud, like I broke something. But it was okay. It came loose. And like you, I didn’t hardly put any force to tighten it when installing the plug.
