@@TypeOneTalksI was able to get the Sugar Pixel ordered just in time for my son to open it for Christmas, he's had it setup since the 25th and we absolutely love it. He has it setup right under his gaming monitor so he doesn't have to open his phone each time to check his blood glucose, and the customizations along with the big & bright displays allows him to see it in room at night. It was fairly easy to setup and we highly recommend it for all the diabetic warriors out there. Thanks for bringing this awesome product to show us on your channel.
This device is absolutely AMAZING, one little thing to be mindful of. Whenever the device needs an update it will display your BG at 0 giving anyone a heart attack seeing that number displayed as their BG. Other than that is beyond phenomenal!!! Thank you so much for all your Diabetes content, you have helped us so much since our son’s diagnosis 10 months ago. You really are amazing.
I have wished for something like this, every time I wake up at night and want to know my BS. It's my Christmas gift to myself. Thanks for letting us know about it.
Amazing. First night with smooth sleep in a while. I don’t need to turn my phone and get dazzled and not being able to go to sleep. Just a quick glance and go back to sleep smoothly. Love it. Buying another one today to have it around the house.
This is a fantastic product... In many ways,.... First off it is usable with various GSM products, and not a product of each individual company. And as you described in this video having it displayed in an area that you frequent is also very important and useful, I also can see why you purchased the 2nd one and I believe you put it in the bedroom again that demonstrates this products affordability. I really like this product and when I do purchase a GSM system sometime in the future, I will absolutely want one of these clock devices they seem to be very thought out and has a lot of thoughtful features. It is as if.... It was a product designed by people that actually have diabetes,... And they probably actually used the prototypes, in order to develop the product further. 🙂
Just ordered one. Hope it is as easy to set up as you say. Thanks for all your hard work! (had troubles setting up do to my slightly backwards ISP settings, but now that I have it working I purchased a second one for the bedroom.)
I have 5 of these for my 7 year old son. 4 are in my house and 1 is in my dad's house who babysittes my son every now and then. At first I wasn't sure it would be a big difference from looking at the phone but it does. Sometimes I temporary misplace my phone in my house but not a problem anymore because I know where the sugar pixel is. I can be cooking or be working in my office and just glance to see my son's blood surger. I started with 1 pixel and now I have 5 because for me it makes taking care of my 7 year old with type 1 so much easier.
I now have 3. I really like the custom alerts. i have gastropareses and being able to have alerts set to something higher then 100 was just what i needed.
I bought one of these after seeing it on the shelf behind you several months ago. Mine lives right under my work monitor (WFH) so I can keep tabs on it during the workday... I even showed it to a T2 coworker who's promptly bought one himself! Thanks Tom!
In a little more diy techie way, you can have a script (Python for example) retrieve the data, put into a time series database (influxdb for example), and then use something like Grafana to create a dashboard to show current number, historical graph, averages for last 7, 30, 90 days etc.. Then have a browser tab open to the dashboard. Granted not as user friendly way as the SugarPixel. Curious, if you have multiple, does one become a "master" to do the retrieval and broadcast/send it to the others or does each do the retrieval? Or is it the app on the phone doing the retrieval and sending to the devices?
@@DavidC-rt3or Each SugarPixel is setup independently and each pulls directly from your data source, not your phone (LibreLinkUp, Dexcomm, Gluroo, or Nightscout). TL;DR If you have multiple, each will be setup separately--they show up in the SugarPixel app as different devices with their own configuration. Each SP will directly talk to your data source(s). I have a Libre 3 and used the LibreLinkUp option; the SP is pulling directly from Abbott's servers. I used Gluroo as a source for a bit as I had an earlier version of the SP that didn't have the LLU option and it worked fine (just didn't update as frequently). I already had Gluroo so I could use NightGuard on my watch... Gluroo also pulls directly from LLU, but updates less frequently.

I'm going to check this out. I'm near sighted, so fumbling around for my phone in the middle of the night when I get an alarm is a huge pain. This would allow me to roll over and see the numbers easily.

Thanks for presenting the Pros and Cons of this product. Question: Did I get it right that this product relies on being connected to the internet? So for people who turn their WIFI off at night this won’t work? Or is it possible to connect the clock via Bluetooth to your sensor/reader? Thanks.

I just started the G7 CGM and I am wondering if there is a something to consider when getting your blood pressure tested? My Physician normally takes the BP on the left arm, What if the CGM sensor is there? Will there be an issue?
I'm curious what smart watch you prefer for monitoring your blood glucose. I've been looking for a bit, but discouraged that you need to run the application on your phone as well to get data. I don't want to carry a phone and a PDM for Omnipod, but suppose I need to use the Omnipod application.
Cool, thank you Tom for your reply. I have ordered this and look forward to receiving the benefits. Thank you always for your honest and detailed videos. 😊
We don’t want a constant reminder of levels being normal. Is it possible for it to only display low / highs and be off otherwise? A blaring green digital light is extremely disruptive to sleep patterns as well.
I understand. That's a fair point. There is customization available. Also includes an option with the numbers hidden. The screen can be dimmed to a minimum at night. Check this for more details. www.youtube.com/@customtypeone549
While I appreciate the amount of work that went into this, the price is definitely too big for most of the world. They either have a huge markup, or a bad/expensive factory. I would buy the code/app if they made it available and run it with my own display, on something like an Arduino.
I see your point apout the code/app. I disagree on the pricing/mark up though. When compared to similar displays this product is relatively cheap, in my opinion. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
How does it get the data from the Freestyle Libre? Do you connect Librelinkup with it as a follower? Trying to understand how the data gets to the device. Also, does it require your phone to be present? Just wondering if this would work for monitoring a family member who's not at home. Thanks for any answers. Just want to be sure before I make a purchase.
It works great for monitoring a family member. Actually, that was the main idea behind creating this. It works exactly the same way as your LibreLinkUp account. In the SugarPixel app, you just need to provide your LibreLinkUp log in details. You don't need a phone to be "physically present" but both devices need to be "on-line".
@TypeOneTalks yeah I really like your videos too super informational. hoping they can make like a widget/app on your phone so it's on your lock screen etx
Can anyone clarify does the SUGAR PIXEL work / connect to the LIBRE 2 PLUS (uk) which controls my OMNIPOD 5? Its just the libre 2 plus doesnt have anything to do with my phone as the omnipod connects to the internet on its own . Thanks everyone
Their website is somewhat out of date, but it appears as if there’s an updated version of the Libre 2 which does continuous sending of the data to the phone which would be required for this you wish it still required you to scan the sensor to get the data so if you scan it, it will send it to the sugar pixel via the LibreLink but otherwise it only happens as often as you scan
Are the CGM values sent to the SugarPixel with a timelag like when you do a workaround for a freestyle libre to applewatch display? Or does it get the values as fast as the LibreLink app?
If your Libre 2 is a real time CGM without a need to scan it should work. But might be worth messaging them to double check on the exact model/your country, etc.
I don't like putting my medical info on the web, who knows what they will do with it in the future. I don't use a phone for a reciever and I would not use this.
It's a private individual that designed it. They are not likely getting a great deal over cost. I could understand your concern if it was from a large company. Have you priced the other alternatives?

How does it get the data from the Freestyle Libre? Do you connect Librelinkup with it as a follower? Trying to understand how the data gets to the device. Also, does it require your phone to be present? Just wondering if this would work for monitoring a family member who's not at home. Thanks for any answers. Just want to be sure before I make a purchase.
It works great for monitoring a family member. Actually, that was the main idea behind creating this. It works exactly the same way as your LibreLinkUp account. In the SugarPixel app, you just need to provide your LibreLinkUp log in details. You don't need a phone to be "physically present" but both devices need to be "on-line".
that's awesome!
Agreed! The cost value of this is amazing! Such a simple thing but makes a huge difference!
€125 a pop.. wow!
Super expensive!!!!
@@gallolareira and doesn't work
Does this work for type 2? Looks expensive
It works regardless of diabetes “type”. As long as you have one of the supported CGM sensors it will work for you!
Awesome thank you
Their website is somewhat out of date, but it appears as if there’s an updated version of the Libre 2 which does continuous sending of the data to the phone which would be required for this you wish it still required you to scan the sensor to get the data so if you scan it, it will send it to the sugar pixel via the LibreLink but otherwise it only happens as often as you scan
Are the CGM values sent to the SugarPixel with a timelag like when you do a workaround for a freestyle libre to applewatch display? Or does it get the values as fast as the LibreLink app?
As fast as LibreLink app.
Thanks a lot@@TypeOneTalks
If i have a updated libre 2, how does it work pixel? Because on the set up screen i onlu seen libre 3 option?
If your Libre 2 is a real time CGM without a need to scan it should work. But might be worth messaging them to double check on the exact model/your country, etc.
it worked for a few months then it stopped. They refused for replacement. I would never buy or deal with this company
feel very stressful = =
wish medtronic wasnt so much like apple is, closing everything off when it comes to non medtronic devices.
At $230 AUD I'll check my phone
Elle connecte avec tous les capteurs svp¿
Dexcom G7, G6, FSL 2 (updated), FSL 3, Night-scout, Gluroo
I don't like putting my medical info on the web, who knows what they will do with it in the future. I don't use a phone for a reciever and I would not use this.
I understand. Thanks for watching!
Its blow my mind... 125€ wow... its made from gold bar?!! no thanks!
for 100 bucks ill just pull out my phone thanks
I don't blame you my friend! Thanks for your comment!
I'll wait until they decide to quit ripping diabetics off and lower the price. I hate being a member of a captive audience.
It's a private individual that designed it. They are not likely getting a great deal over cost. I could understand your concern if it was from a large company. Have you priced the other alternatives?
