      Foundations are nothing more than tax havens. Maya and the family are spreading awareness and exposing institutional protectionism through this trial. The reach is exponential. JHCH will not recover from this. They will experience a huge loss in revenue and public faith.

      They said in the documentary standing up for all the other families hurt by the medical system that stole away their kids is part of why they are fighting so hard. If they win, it opens the floodgates and sets the ground work for others to win. The hospital is terrified of that. It's why they tried to kill the legal case by drawing it out for years to drain their finances.

    Regardless of any dx established, JHCH breached simple irrefutable laws that protect patients, the most glaringly obvious one being Consent. Dr Perno the Safety Management Committee Chief officer deposed stated that JHCH periodically take photos of children without consent as part of their care protocols. YIKES. He also asserted that the

    This case is tragic. I’ve watched the trial so far and seeing Sally Smith today really made some things make sense. I was imagining her being alone to speak to my daughter, have compassion for her and our situation, and her inability to show kindness and it haunted me. Thinking someone with her demeanor is a good person to work in such a life altering role in a child’s life is unacceptable. Then seeing how Catherine Bedy was is even more concerning. This was who Maya was left with. I have been a pediatric Neurologist for 17 years and it has it’s challenges like anything else but throughout this trial the defense and depositions thus far have had the common focus of “cover to correct” approach. Unfortunately typical in healthcare. Thankfully Maya and her family said, “no”. Her mother literally died in hopes to save her child. I usually feel differently about suicide focused on another way but seeing as her child was discharged home within a week, it appears her mom knew the system and it’s sad she probably didn’t actually want to die. I hope the jury agrees with the awful treatment and if nothing else awards Maya $1 to validate her and her family’s reasons to bring this to trial.

    • @Radtech95
      @Radtech95 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly! I hope they do get a large settlement because Maya will need lifelong care both physically and psychologically. This will be very expensive and it would be even sweeter Justice to hit the perpetrators where it hurts most. That’s all that really matters to these people anyway. But at the very least I hope the Kowalski family gets the vindication they deserve! These doctors and administrators were terrifying. Their demeanor was insulting and disgraceful!

    I am heartbroken over this case. I have worked in Heath care for 27 years. I have seen callous care at times. The support staff is instrumental in an attending doctors care of a patient. The doctor counts on the opinions of a team of other doctors, nurses, physical therapists, social workers etc. to make their medical decisions. Sally Smith had great input into Mayas care even if there was no medical order or notes written by her particularly. This team had an opinion of what was going on with Beata and Maya and discounted all other relevant opinions. We still have to hear from the defense but their cross at this point has not been impressive. If the testimony will be more of a cover your ass attitude like I have seen on cross, they are negligent in my opinion. I hope the right decision is made once all the evidence is heard. It’s also a disgrace that this case has taken over 7 years to be heard in court while this family has had deal with the financial and emotional trauma. Probably very intentional by the big corporate lawyers in an attempt to bankrupt the Kawasaki’s and get them to drop the case. This is a typical strategy of wealthy corporations to escape accountability. The courts need to do better in expediting court cases and do their jobs in a timely fashion.
