How I picked up a car shell with no front suspension, without causing any damage and no fancy tools.

  • I found some parts for the Mustang build but there is a catch. I have to pick them up from a house using only my trailer and whatever I bring with me. I have an idea, more of an excuse to fabricate stuff. Let's see how my idea works out. If we don't destroy the parts we need in the recovery process, we can get them pulled off and ready for our build. If you need any parts from this Mustang you can send me an email. vehcor1@gmail.com or through my website link below.
My website if you want to purchase a car or parts: www.vehcor.com

Take your dolly concept one step further. Make a second set (and even a third set) and add in a connector to link them together. You could put one in the front, one in the back, or with shorter connectors one in the front, one in the middle, and one in the back, You could pretty easily load whatever you want. Keeping them linked together will help to keep them from rolling over.
Overall, 9/10 to start, and 10/10 looks like it just needs some wash ,rinse, repeat. Oh wait, you might not know that one ;)

Some great success, and many fails,,but always got where we wanted to be. The best stories, are tales are about getting home with baling wire and scrape metal from the ditch. Think Apollo 13, or Shackletons survival… That’s using your brains, and working with what you got…inspiring. And NO, I’m not comparing dolly wheels to Apollo 13, but you get the idea.

He had found a complete body shell for a mercedes W111 Coupe (1962) but was a shell only.He had to get it from Sydney to Brisbane (565 miles) and because he was away working in the bush he had to get a shipper involved. He made a set of small dollies to roll the car on with a ride height of 5 inches. ,and while the shell was still in Sydney he got it painted!. All went well and the car survived the long trip on the back of a semi ,with no damage.

We had a 92 mustang LX coupe with the 4 banger and an automatic trans. Was by no means a quick car but was a good bit of fun out on the highway. I do miss it a bit.
