- Today we are removing the engine from the 1993 Ford Mustang GT convertible so that we can do some work on the engine itself and have some room to work on the frame rails.

I am not sure what I enjoy more, your mechanical work (excellent) or your sense of humor (dry). Doesn't really matter, keep up the great work!
Always spray the electrical connector shells with WD-40. It will wash out the dust & dirt and you will be surprised how easy the connectors come apart.
Its always astonishing to see how that you remember where everything goes when you begin reassembly. Some of it is probably muscle-memory, the bulk of it is just pure genius. Fascinating!
Hey Scott, while you're in there, replace the trans dip stick tube O ring at the base of the tube. They dry up and crack pretty often because of that light-off cat right next to them, and when they do, you get a nice big red puddle on the ground. And to get to it, you have to drop the whole exhaust H pipe because that cat is right in the way.
Scott I have so much respect for you as a Mechanic / Auto body Tech and Comedy remarks. I really wish I could help send some cash your way but things are beyond tight in my household. Thank you so much for sharing your very talented work with all of us.
I was laughing out loud: paraphrase:”we’’ll pick that bolt up later when it won’t ‘brand’’ us”
This is not a car. This is treasure of America. I'm pretty sure Scott's gonna sell this car to Scott.
You are as always, simply amazing. You have the patience of Job. Ford sure didn’t make it easy to work on these cars let alone remove the engines. It’s in good hands though. I can’t wait to see the next video drop. I will wait patiently as I know sometimes things just don’t happen as quickly as we like. You & yours take care, have a great weekend and I’ll see you in the next installment. 😊
Fox body’s were super easy to work on unless you had to do a pedal rack
What a pain in the ass engine removal. I applaud your persistence.
He does it without gloves.
Actually for a early 90s car it isn’t too bad. They did much worse back then! 😂
@@jamespn you mean "bitch mittens"
Nobody but NOBODY does better more thorough work. Excellent...👌
@@jamespn **Bitch mittens**
I noticed you don’t use gloves and you are very
Sarcastic.
That’s why I love your channel.
I give you a like, before I even watch the video cause I know it’s gonna be great.
Thanks for another great video.
I'm on my lunch break but I'd better wait until I get home to look at it comfortably.
👍🏻
This is one of my favorite cars to be worked on. Lon from Ohio...
Happy Friday, Scott!🍻
Thanks and same to you!
Just discovered your channel, love the content, subbed after one vid, etc. your commentary and dry sense of humor is great!
Scott's always hard on us Ford guys 😂
I thought I went easy on ya this week. 😂 I even threw BMW under the bus with you!
@vehcor BMW definitely deserves it 😁
I knew complaining to the supervisor would get you back on this job!!!! LOL...Enjoy your weekend sir!
Oh the old memories of working on 80’s and 90’s cars. Sorry oh the nightmares of working on the 80’s and 90’s cars. Lol Thanks for the memory trip.
Hi Scott, like your quadruple wobble extension. Thank you for no bull.... content. Have a great weekend.
Now I know why I had them all! 😂
Another great episode! Thanks Scott!
Ready for the next video.
Thanks for the video Scott.
Well done as always.
Thanks for the video.
Appreciate the video Scott. This was a very common-sense approach to disassembly. No bells no whistles and definitely no struggle. Have a great weekend! (oh.. and the "Push a Ford"... nice poke at 'em)
Great Job Sir....
The injector connectors ( called "salt and pepper shakers") can be removed by squeezing the tabs in, that is why they have a split on the lock tabs.
I’ll take “sure fire way to break the connector tabs for $1000”, Alex. You are right, that is what the engineer intended but like most things engineers dream up, it doesn’t work quite like it did on paper. Sure it will be very easy to disconnect and reconnect but getting it to stay connected without the tabs is the tricky part. You see, pushing the tab allows it to slide around the lock on each side. That pulls the tabs perpendicular to the direction they are molded. 30 year old plastic isn’t forgiving.
Good work and keep the videos comming.
That induction heater is a winner. Only heats what needs to be heated. Those studs would definitely have broken off otherwise.
Watching you pulling that engine out reminded me of my 69 AMC Ambassador. I bought it with transmission issues and got it cheap. I was starting to pull the transmission when something dripped in my face. After spotting 3 core plugs that were wet, I decided to pull the engine and transmission together. It was so much easier to get to the core plugs and lining up the transmission and engine when I put it back in was a breeze. It also made fixing some hillbilly engineering on the wiring easier to correct. That was in 97 and I drove that car for 3 round trips from Middle Tennessee to Houston Texas. It was the best riding car I've ever owned. They don't build cars like that anymore.
Lol…”…its starting to look like a BMW under here….” EXCELLENT! 👍👍🤣😆🤣
Thank you
Love ur funny comments.....
Need a railcam so we can watch you and trains at the same time.
Lots of work!
32:00 yes but you look happy doing it😁
Only had to push a 92 Z28, it blew a head gasket then a transmission mount, all my Mustangs ran great.
Wonderful video.
Thanks
@ 14:02 In case you are teetering, those electric induction tools are also great for annealing brass cases on outdoor toys that make noises....
Thanks for this video. It gives me better insight on how my 88 LX's front end is put together. (some that I already knew about, some that I did not) Although there are minor differences between it and that 93, they are mostly the same. Appreciate it and look forward to the next vid. 👍
Love your channel! I just found it and it’s great, really enjoy the Mustang work on the old foxbody flavor. I will be subscribing.
Another great video
The fuel injector (salt and pepper, shaker), connectors are a squeeze type. Believe it says PUSH on the clips. 😊

Crazy question, but did you ever mention what happened to the modded old body mustang you were going to put on a newer body?
Last I heard, you were gonna do a vote, or contest, or paint by numbers or something...
Keep up the kick ass efforts!
💪🏼
I got the impression that the more people asked about it, the less he worked on it or talked about it!
"It's startin' to look like a BMW under there."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Plastic doesn't last long these days either. The next problem is that a lot of things that used to be metal are now plastic. Built in redundancy?
@@notaffiliatedwith7363 Yeah, I got the terms mixed up!
Yeah, I meant obsolescence, as @notaffiliatedwith7363 pointed out.
I will say that today’s plastics are better than 30 years ago. 30 years ago plastic was breaking and cracking after a year. Luckily there was not as much of it then.
@@vehcor first of all....great video...second... Mr Spotty is going to be this generations smiley face button...
I didn't know that 5.0 had all that plastic...nope..
This is why I love old cars...less plastic!!!
Now....the safety freak in me is screaming....fix that lift!!!!....
But really... I've got to tell you...I'd love to give you the big Muckety muck shop
and let you cut loose... your talent is wasted in a small shop like that

Check to see if your lift was made in France since it keeps surrendering (giving up on you) LOL. Thanks for another great video!
😂
that tiny little piece of radiator left hanging on the front made me giggle.
Keeps the trans fluid from going everywhere so I can still drive it.
Since this channel does things the right way, it would only be correct if when you reinstalled the drive train it had a dart blocked 363 with a t-trim or a ysi blower!
Looks a lot like my 87 Mustang. Bent core support and empty engine bay! 😂 I need to clean off the 306k miles of grime under the hood before I put it back together. Great video as always Scott!
i dont think ive ever worked on a ford where all the bolts come out it was amazing, with regards connecters i always give them a whiff of my heat gun before disconnection so they come apart easily and not broken ,uk here 😊
Vehcor, making the complicated look easy. Have you ever considered teaching a online course ?
No, I don’t think I would care much for that.
I like that you don't use time lapse often in your videos....
That’s a lot of work to pull a motor. I don’t want too now. Lol😂
Hey Scott, I was surprised you referred to non denominational winter evergreen holiday clips as "Christmas Tree" clips
Tip
Rig the hook on the mobile frame rack to be able to slide on the forks.
Then you can use a ratchet strap to inch the motor back while you are near it and not have to drive the forklift backwards until the motor is clear
Did you accomplish all of that in just one day? You do a very good job of setting up lights to film your work. Seems like that could be half the overall job. 👍👍👍
You missed an opportunity for a belt sander joke at the end of this video. I was surprised. Also a backup scream would have been funny when you pushed the car at the end. Your humor is very British. I am constantly laughing as your videos are very entertaining. Thanks for taking the time to film them.
He saves the scream for unloading from trailers ONLY !!
I'm watching when you're talkin about the brittle Plastics and you're telling us that you didn't want to be to assertive and brake them or replaced them and at that second the whole hoist drops you didn't even Flinch you knew that it was about time to fall just like it did!! Oh yeah!!👍🙏
All the best from Canada
18:35B I do like the side tank of the radiator just hanging out sans radiator haha
The 5.0 302 motor is so easy to take out with transmission
I'm pretty sure that was a metric matco screwdriver you were using to disconnect that wiring connection. That's why it was so difficult. Let me know if you need any welds inspected..😅 Thanks for the video.
Now you tell me! 😂
3010 A small chain fall attached to the forklift works wonders when doing single person work.
Here in Australia, gas is over US$12 per US gallon at the moment.
What Australia charges for automobiles, the package ought to come with a rape kit.
Destroying the earth with your hydrocarbon combustion shouldn't be a cheap date, should it?😉. I saw a couple George Miller documentaries about a guy named Max who enjoyed his supercharged V8's.
😳
@@vibrolax I seriously hope you are joking, right?
@@bearing_aficionado Yes, I'm joking. I should have put triple wink-emojis. The problem with these fantasy action films is that they keep turning into documentaries.
Removing that engine was really a major production. I guess Ford didnt want anyone to work on it. Proof positive that one of the most important tools a mechanic can have is patience.
Its 3 airbag sensors on top of the radiator support.
remove the nuts holding the cats to the exhaust system, slide the cats back out of the rubber mount ,set on floor bell housing bolts will be much easier to access
I'm interested in buying this when you are finished.
I had to seperate the Trans from the engine. It's a 6L80E and an LT1/L83 from 2014. The dowel pins were corroded in and I struggled to seperate them Finally after dosing with PB Blaster and letting it soak in I was able with a lot of force to get them apart. ONe dowet stayed in the trans
I’ve been there. Usually a lot of kicking tail shaft housing worked for me.
Another very good video. I look forward to them. I saw you pushing the FORD and I'm thinking he is showing great restraint in not making a comment about fords,,,,,,, and then you said it.😂
Kudos from Argentina.
Also. Where is The old mustang?
This guy may be thee smartest most fix it right the first time kinda guy on thee PLANT....
GREAT WORK MAN...👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
@@vehcor brother you are totally welcome...god bless your integrity and your truthfulness. You are a GREAT MAN AMONG MEN !¡!!
God bless your family too .. I'm positive they are FINE people..😎
that looked like the most ridiculous engine removal ever , I agree I think you are very tenacious , good job, love the For jokes
That Ford joke is very very true especially with 1980s Fords😅😅
Let’s us know on social before the next cars & coffee, a CSW meetup if you will. The people need to meet the legend
Working on this Mustang reminded me of your other Mustang retrofit project with the 2015 squeezed into the older body style. Any idea of when you might get back to that project? It’s been almost 3 years. Would love some more episodes!
LarryS
Is that another Grand Am project in the back?👀
Yes it is.
Dammit about time scott we get a new video. 😊😊 😂
The paycheck you mailed must have gotten lost so I just remained on my usual schedule. 😂
@vehcor hahaahha, love ur channel, brother. 1 a week is long, haha. I know you have a full-time gig. I really do appreciate ur videos. Ur Corruption and rust comments always have me dying same here in New york.
@mr.worrell I know just messing around. 7 days is a long time haha
You can tell it's been a bad day if I use shoulder-less aluminum bolts with red loctite on those top two bolts.... now you know who did it. My encore is to install the screw on oil filter without lubing the seal.
bloody hell scott big job. will you get a return on it ?? love your channel cheers from always hot north qld australia
@ 8:40... Make sure you grab the Metric Size..... Heh heh heh heh heh!!!! omg.... Best prank ever... If you know, you know...
I heard there was a shortage of screws in Narnia, you should donate some.
I have done my part over the years. What the heck have they done with all of the ones I sent them? 😂
"In today's epsiode ASMR with vehcor we continue work on 1993 Mustang GT"
I’ve owned fords since I was 15 before I got my license and never had to push them. Now Chevy on the other hand I have had to push a few and even some that weren’t mine.
Well, driving a Chevy, I think you found the problem.
I really do miss the sound of the train going by
Soon you will be rolling down the steet in 50. Just like vanilla ice❤ looming good
Hey victor where do I get new stickers for the plastic parts I replaced?
Been thinking about finally buying an induction heater cuz I figure once I drop all that dough, suddenly it'll be forever till I have to fight a frozen fastener again
Sounds like a great insurance policy.
If your theory is that if you buy it, you will never have another rusted bolt… I can’t think of a better reason to buy one. Heck, I’d buy two and I’m cheap! 😂
Oh shit what’s up, Johnny Sinz
like the preacher on tv says get up and do something even if it goes wrong...
BMW, Love that comment. BMW leak like a sieve.
This thing is giving BMWs a run for their money! 😂
18:36 if they only made a little thumb nurl attachment that you stuck on a socket so you can get a good grip on them....🤔
Was it in the late seventies or very early eighties when the Mustang 5.0 first came out?. I remember hearing on the radio soon after that the Government was looking into whether this vehicle was too unsafe. I believe too many people, especially young people were getting killed in them. Then again that would probably help boost sales.
Scott the induction heater is not in your amazon store.
It is
Is this one just one of your normal flips? These can't be easy to find these days. I would be much too tempted to keep this one, and hop up the motor while its out.
When stuck on a Ford, shouldn't Mr. Spotty be frowning?
why am i hearing the drunk uniblab robot from spacely sprockets when taking the bell housing bolts out with all those extensions...
I would address that leaky oil pan and rear main seal while the motor is out, easy peasy to clean and fix now, the supervisor agreed by the way!
I plan to, that is why I said it.
@@vehcor I missed that…probably when I was meeting with the supervisor. 🤣
Quit snitching on me to the supervisor!
It'd take me 3 years and multiple phone calls to you.... to figure how how to hook that engine up correctly upon reinstalling it... haha
Looks like a bigger than it looked like to start with. Really annoying finding more things wrong as you go.
I have not found anything I was not expecting. It is a 30 year old car, you have to figure in some refreshing into the build.
It's a Ronzoni car it only runs when you push it!!
