After seeing this, I'm not as excited about that concept anymore. It doesn't seem like he's really that attached to the album, picking a pretty standard White Light tune over The bloody SOUND is a major shock.

I feel that's one of the few Swans epics that could use some trimming. I really like the initial sound collage from Jarboe, but then it turns into somewhat rote post-rock before the (admittedly amazing) ballad portion kicks in.
It would win the entire thing for me.

The Apostate is probably my favourite. An absolutely monumental and cathartic piece of music. The climax of the song is out of this world. Its one of my favourite pieces of music period.

What I really like about this that the Swans community has such a diverse range of opinion which time or song of swans was the best experience. Really shows that they have tapped in all sorts of corners that speak to so many people if you just search for it.

Lunacy is such an iconic track... I don't immediately remember Oxygen or She loves us, but if they beat lunacy and screen shot they must be fucking heavy! I have to immediately give the album a more proper listen.

I'm tied up between Bring The Sun/Toussaint and The Glowing Man. Both are quite literally life-changing experiences in the form of music. I've listened to The Glowing Man more but honestly I would probs pick Bring The Sun cause it's such a goddamn exhilarating adventure of a song. It's euphoric, terrifying, hard-hitting and just an out of this world odyssey.

The Seer to me sounds like this universally large and dense machine losing control and when fully listening to it I feel like I'm being sucked in and ripped apart. Pretty incredible feeling. Some days I prefer The Seer and other times I want a more spiritually euphoric experience (Glowing Man)
I’m Partial to “The Glowing Man” because I got to see them play it live (as “Black Hole Man”) as their set closer when I saw them in 2015. It was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever witnessed...

It’s Michael “Ji - RAH” and the awesome song off White Light is “Why Are We Alive” - no “Still” in the title. My opinion now - songs that lost too early are The Sound, Helpless Child, Golden Boy, Blind, Love Will Save You, All Lined Up, No Cure For the Lonely, and GOD DAMN THE SUN (a masterpiece). Also, where tf is “Power and Sacrifice”? Anyway, thanks for the video, interesting hearing your takes. Can definitely appreciate why you love the tracks you do, as they’re awesome; interestingly though, the period you describe as week (Children of God/White Light/Love of Life) happens to be maybe my favorite period of their music overall, though I would extend it to include Annihilator and Soundtracks which are both completely epic. The older stuff has its place as does the newer stuff, I’m just a product of the 1990s era I guess as I was in my twenties, single, and severely f*cked up when all those albums came out. Jarboe was a good foil for Gih-RAH, and if the sound was “accessible” it was also very evil and hopeless behind the cheery strings and melodies. Left an indelible stamp on my psyche and with eskimo chain I tattooed my brain all the way. Won’t you miss me....?

Did you start listening to Swans after their return in 2010? Personally I can't understand how their new songs can get so far in the brackets if one had their Swans experience before 2010. I've had a hard time getting into their newer albums, and one reason is because they don't seem as interesting as a concept as their older albums.
