    Helluva buy! Diesel engines last forever. If they bought it on the cheap and do the necessary repairs, still worth it. Used fork lifts fetch gobs of money - a fact the buyer knew upon purchase. Excellent workhorse on a farm or in a warehouse. Well-paced and informative video.

    That's good that they found a byer for the lift instead of going to scrap

    Just started watching your channels! I’ve probably watched 20 in the last couple days, great content! I am a diesel mechanic just wanted to tell ya if you soak a rag in gasoline and hold over air filter inlet it will run off the gas fumes . It will eventually dry up and have to resoak it. It’s a lot easier on the engine and don’t get any knocking likebwith starting fluid. Just a friendly tip lol

    On a 4 stroke engine it takes two full revolutions of the crank to rotate the cam and valve train 1 full revolution. If you want to make sure valves aren’t stuck, you should go 720 degrees on the crank.

    Here Down Under ,as a kid my old man had a similar piece of machinery on our farm and believe it or not it had a lil petrol motor that you pull started and lifted a lever and it started the main motor which was a big smoky loud diesel motor ,it was much much bigger than this one but very similar,all my mates at work love your channel ,hope you get bigger and bigger and keep on pumpin out these grouse videos ,much respect from Australia mate

    • @sarahmathias9463
      @sarahmathias9463 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pony motor starter. Little gas motor you start, spins up the diesel, then you throw the lever and engage compression on the diesel and it starts. It was the method of starting big diesels before they were able to make starter motors big and powerful enough for them.

    Wow..We take care of JLG and skyjacks among other equipment. No Lulls in our fleet any longer and I only saw 1 highlander.
    That is an oldie for sure. John Deere engine. The fuel pump might come back if you run
    seafoam through it. Enough to start anyway. You do need that wire on the pump with 12 volts or it will not send fuel to the nozzles. Pretty cool.

    Great video. If you come across another Lucas CAV that won't put out high pressure to the injectors it's probably due to stuck plungers in the pumping head. It is possible to take them apart and unstick the plungers but you have to be careful to mark them and put them back exactly how they were or you'll be delivering too much or too little fuel. Those CAV's are good pumps if you don't leave them sitting for 30 years lol.

    The good old Lucas CAV pump, most likely all you needed to do was remove the stop solenoid, pull the pin and put the rest back in.

    • @NoNonsenseKnowHow
      @NoNonsenseKnowHow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I thought about trying to bypass the solenoid. I did give it a few wacks with a hammer in case it was sticky. But then I was reading that these pumps are prone to failure if they sit for a long time and was kind of on a time crunch with this one. Hopefully simple fix for the guy who bought it.

  • @V8Power5300
    @V8Power5300 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    You most likely just have to pull the pump apart and free the plungers in the rotor

      I used to work at a rental place and just about half the people would run our Lull out of fuel and I would have to get it going again. I watched a guy mess with it for a hr and not get it going. I would put fuel in the main tank then use a old inner tube and hose clamp over the fill and put a couple pounds of air in it crack the injector lines till fuel came out and bam she would start and run, 15min tops lol.
