  • A short silent 8mm film I shot on a special day in May 1985 of public trips around the Capital's freight-only south-side circle line from Waverley Station. Most of the views were taken from behind the famous steam engine. Featured closed stations include Duddingston, Blackford Hill, Morningside Road, and Craiglockhart.

I saw the latest news article on reopening the South Sub, which reminded me I went on this excursion round the line. There were at least two trips as I went to Morningside Station to see it come through. Your film manages to capture me - second last person on platform taking a photograph of your excursion!

1:17 that's Newington station, that'd be soon enough after they flattened the platform. I saw this excursion leaving Waverley, was just a kid but also remember being lucky enough a couple of years before to go on a special around closed/freight lines of the Lothians, in a class 101 DMU, stopped at Newington and got out on the platform
