And finally.....Tom, have you seen 1) SONY's partnership with Qualcomm to co-develop next gen image processors? SONY and Qualcomm will move into a joint research lab in San Diego to spped up R&D and innovation. It sounds quite exciting. 2) SONY is now the official partner of Manchester City. Tasked with creating their technology interaction with their fans. 3) TSMC (the worlds largest contract microchip manufacturer will build a chip foundry in Japan right next to SONY's image sensor factory and SONY will own a stake in it and it will in future supply SONY with all it's chips. 4) The rumours about SONY being close to launching a PlayStation version of Game pass with various tiers that will give access to SONY's entire library of games. 5) SONY is almost finished buying the majority stake in ZEE....which will effectively make SONY the largest media company in India. A country of 1.3 Billion people. There are a LOT of exciting developments happening with SONY. So many pieces starting to fall into place....
Comments like THIS are why this channel is so much fun! You're absolutely right - so many pieces falling into place right now!! Amazing comment. Actually, I'm gonna pin this, right now!! Cheers, Tom 🙏
@@tech_edit Yeah it really does feel like all the pieces are starting to come together based on all the moves SONY is making, the partnerships they are forming, their leadership team, and how much they are innovating. And pretty much every one of their divisions from music to movies, from the PlayStation to electronics is now starting to fire on all cylinders. Call me full of s@#t but I still really believe that SONY is going to make a big comeback as a tech company and brand ala Apple in the early 2000s. They are now working on so many potentially exciting things. Speaking of said exciting things there are rumours that SONY will explain a lot more about what they plan to do with the Vision S EV 🚗 at CES 2022 next month
Congratulations! Feel free to tag @sony365official on Instagram with your shots! Thanks for commenting here and being part of the sony365 community! Cheers, Tom 🙏
And....well done to SONY for finally releasing a phone fairly quickly. Thank God! They announced the Xperia Pro I in November and it's been shipping since early December to customers. Please continue to do it like this SONY!!
@Tessoro Desoto um.....all phones...or all tech products for that matter..... have a development cycle. I am sure that yes.... the Xperia Pro I was in development concurrent with the mark iii at some point. However most likely was not ready at the same time due to them having to figure out how to adapt the RX100 one inch sensor to a smartphone. And thus yes ..the most likely "had it". But I'm not sure I understand what your point is. What I am obviously talking about is the problem SONY has had with announcing phones and then only actually making them available several months later. But with the Xperia Pro I they finally announced a phone, made it immediately available for pre order, and by the next month it was shipping. That has nothing to do with where SONY was in their development phase with either phone. Untill or unless any company officially announces a product then for all intents and purposes it doesn't exist.
@Tessoro Desoto I don't know obviously, but since they release an Xperia 1 every year as their general flagship phone I think you are wrong. They were always going to release a mark iii. The Xperia Pro I is clearly a different phone, and intended for a different audience. The camera system is entirely different and with all the accessories is clearly aimed at vloggers and TH-camrs, as well as pros working for themselves or for small production companies. Thus why it's under the "Pro" branding. The Xperia 1 is obviously meant to be the more general consumer market phone by comparison. Is there a degree of overlap? Of course. But anyone can easily look at both and see they were developed with a different audience in mind. I think you are clutching at straws because that's what you want to believe despite all evidence (which I just pointed out) being to the contrary.
The game changer on this phone is actually the lens on the main camera, even tho it’s not covering the whole frame and we know it was never intended to do so, it’s the first compact phone camera to feature high quality Zeiss glass, not plastic like the rest of the phones, so the detail render should be better, also the light transmission. The smartphone sensors, aside from their size have another big disadvantage, the lens. To give a perspective to people who are not into cameras, kit lens from a camera can render up to 40% of the details that the sensor can see, it will make fine details look blurry but a high quality fixed focal length lens would be able to resolve up to 98% of the details, so 2 pictures from the same camera with different lens are completely different quality wise.
@@Pete_1986 yea, there are a few exception , some obvious like that Samsung with optical zoom that extends and I think a few Nokia phone too but the norm today is plastic which is very bad
What do you mean "to feature high quality Zeiss glass, not a plastic like the rest of the phone"? I think you are exaggerating things or just talking rubbish! For such a price tag ($1800) this Android phone should have lenses made of diamonds and metal frame made of gold. And Zeiss branding does bing bad associations with it. Just because crappy Nokia cameras have it too.
Without the crop, the cam bump would be more than 4mm. Look at panasonic CM1 and it is huge cam system. Sharp had to use 19mm lens to avoid huge bump. But pays the price with huge distortion of faces.
The laws of physics come into play when increasing the size of the photo sensor. It appears to me that cameras like this are the “new form factor” and way forward to replace the old “point-and-shoot” cameras that have cluttered the shelves of places like Walmart for decades. If Sony’s plan is to make the Xperia series a “camera-first” platform, then I suggest they incorporate a no-compromise, full 1-inch, no-crop sensor, and design a compact accessory battery pack that would feed the power-hungry display, gimbal, sensor, GPS - and whatever else they would cram into the main body - for at least 8 hours. I’ve been a Sony/Minolta fan since the ‘70s, so I know a bit about interoperability, “backwards compatibility” and “eco systems.” In their futuristic design quests, it would be nice if Sony didn’t forget their “geriatric” fanbase.
Hi Tom First of all good luck with your operation. For me you're one of the most polite and helpful youtubers out there. Videos like yours made me wait for the 1 III this year. Before, I never had a Xperia phone. The little story is, that I got it, used it and sold it again, because i thought the cameras were significantly worse, then others. I got a Oneplus 9 pro and think what, from the end of the first week on, i regreted it. It felt more clumpsy, the speakers were so dissapointing. The camera, yes, more point and shoot, but not as satisfying. So I setteled a deal with my store, where i got the Oneplus and they agreed to change it back. Never been happier of a customer service then there. Now I have my 1 III back and I think atm I will not use another brand smartphone again. It's truely one of kind approach and design, Sony's doing. Best wishes to all out there for 2022.
Thanks Lennart - a really interesting message to read, thanks so much for posting it here. I know what you mean and I can relate to your story there. In fact I will try and tackle that issue in a future video. The photographic results straight out the box will seem flat and lifeless to a lot of folks, especially those coming from iPhones Nd Samsungs. Mainly due to the fact they're not enhanced in the way they are on these other brands. You have the power via Pro modes to enhance them as a pro photographer would, but admittedly that isn't everyone's cup of tea! And then if you take all of that out the equation, there's Sony's approach to just having pure android, classic hardware etc with useful IO etc. It's difficult to leave am Xperia device without missing that stuff! Thanks for sharing your experience here - it's useful stuff for people in the community here to see! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Tom, good to see you back. You are quite the world traveler. I still have not pulled the wallet on any phone, yet. With due respect, Sony really should be nailing every checkmark on the Xperia line, and really should have a commitment to OS and Security updates. Best wishes on your operation, your health is the most important. Looked forward to 2022 and the new Sony365. Take Care. Stay Safe.
I'm a long time xperia Compact fan, currently using a xz2 compact. I'm always impressed with the way you review devices with fresh eyes and don't simply repeat the misconceptions other reviewers end up regurgitating. The additional level of technical detail and explanation why that matters is great. Keep it up!
More sony deals for the rest of the world with your help 👌🏼 I'm glad I'm a subscriber and again thank you for saying what most of reviewers are not saying and supporting fellow XPERIANS, we really wish you all the best and hopefully you'll get the proper support from Sony and the media.
@@youtubeairways8646 yes, I actually collaborated with Tom on his Sony Ericsson Xperia Play video. I understand he had an operation, but it's been too long now without any updates, at least from his team...
Years ago I switched providers with a crappy iphone4.... just to get the "new" Sony Experia z3 compact. I'll never go back. It was the only phone at the time that would easily take pictures of the northern lights! Plus all the usual Sony goodness. I originally saw it at the Sony stage at EDC Las Vegas displayed in a water fountain! So cool. I eventually upgraded to the xz1 compact. And have been holding out for another compact. But that doesn't seem to be happening. I hate huge phones! So after watching your videos I recently got the blue Experia 10iii. Not bad so far. The size is a crazy difference...... I love it still has all the nice Sony goodies. Waterproof. Expandable memory. Multicolor notification light. Headphone jack! No noches or holes in the screen. Just wish they would bring a compact back. If not..... This pro-I is looking promising!
Thanks for your comment James - and very interesting point re the Northern lights! That's really got me thinking! 10 III has a lot of that Sony magic and proper, useful features that other OEMs gave up on a while back, true. I'm using a 10 II at the moment and it's really pretty good. The 10 III upgrades though are just great, especially that bigger battery. Congratulations and thanks so much for being part of the sony365 community here! Cheers, Tom 🙏
This is the first pre-production or final review I have seen of the Xperia Pro-I mentioning 'pixel pitch'. I'd never heard of the term before, and I'm glad that I know its significance now. Not even photography-focused reviewers mentioned it. Thanks for little details such as this 'pixel pitch' that make for a very educational 16 minute review!
Thanks so much - very grateful for your comment. It definitely seems some of the important stuff has been missed out with the big TH-camrs again, although at least this time generally speaking they all seem to be on board with what Sony is doing. The Xperia situation is definitely improving dramatically on all fronts right now! Thanks again for your comment. Cheers, Tom 🙏
I'm glad you liked my comment. I appreciate that you reply extensively to everyone in the comments section. Best of luck with the operation, and I'm looking forward to the major changes on the channel in two months time! 😊
One thing that really sucks with my PRO i, is the battery life, unless you run it on 'stamina mode' with low brightness, when using the camera, I barely get to the afternoon without having to charge it. Wish they'd made it slightly thicker and put 5000mamp battery inside. Also, recording @ 4k, the phone overheated after 5mins and had to shut down the camera app, not good. I want to like this phone, but it's got issues.
I will definitely test the battery life and other issues once I'm back up and running and have a production device. Hope the situation improves there for you! Cheers, Tom 🙏 (please keep us informed if you can - very useful to hear from folks living with this device!)
Greetings to you in Cambodia Sam. I also have the XM4 and XB43 - love 'em both!! Thanks for commenting and being part of the sony365 community!! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Impressive stuff, congratulations! A very sophisticated couple 👌 Feel free to tag @sony365official on Instagram with some of your shots! Wishing you all the best. Thanks for commenting and being part of the sony365 community - I hope your PRO-I arrives rapidly!!!! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Hi Tom just to let you know I'm one who bought an Xperia 1iii as a direct result of your videos. And I'm now after a PRO-I again as a direct result of this video.
Amazing review for an amazing device 👍 Never clicked so fast as I was waiting for your review on this phone. I had bought xperia 1 ii on your recommendation and I have never enjoyed any other phone so much. All the best for the next 2 months. By that time we will have polished xperia Pro I.
Thanks mate. So happy to hear from you again - and that you're still very happy with the 1 II. Thanks for your support I'm very grateful indeed. Looking forward to getting back to the channel asap. Wishing you all the best. Thanks again, cheers, Tom 🙏
Exciting times are coming for Sony fans. Trust me when I say there's still more Sony has to offer for us in the future. Smartphone industry will not be the same again, Sony has change the game.
@@tech_edit can anyone from the Sony 365 team give us an explanation on what happened to your channel? We are concerned at this point. I hope all is well...
So good to see another video Tom. And a fantastic one as usual. I hope everything with the operation goes well and I cannot wait to see what you have planned for this channel. The trip to Japan sounds like it's going to be amazing.
Has this channel died? Been a while since the last vid and the Xperia 1 IV is available for pre-order plus the XM5 reveal tomorrow. There's been no videos on these. Hope it hasn't died.
Having been using Sony Ericsson and Xperia phones for a long time with my recent one being the Sony Xperia 1-ii. I have now upgraded to the new Xperia PRO-I which i have had for over a week now and have been impressed with the image quality even though it doesn't closely match my RX100-Vii is acceptable. I Still have to try out the video camera apps so there's alot to experiment with still. Natural colours in general are so much nicer to look especially on that beautiful 4K OLED display. Will be interesting to see where Sony builds on from the PRO-I. Look forward to more of your content. 👍
Great comment, thanks so much for posting it here and being part of the sony365 community! You're one of the fee people on the planet shows used both devices! I agree - it's a good upgrade from 1 III in a few specific areas, principally low light and HDR scenarios - but not even close to RX100 VII. Cheers, Tom 🙏
By the time this video went live I'm sure it would have received the update. It's been a tricky couple of weeks for getting the vid live (first one I recorded on a skyscraper rooftop for old times sake but the audio was too bad to use unfortunately - it gets way too windy up there sometimes!). I'll be back on it again asap though and we will have more regular weekly output here. Thanks for bearing with us! Cheers, Tom 🙏
there is also misassumptions from reviewers who used ND filters on some of their videos... some key points to note here( who are looking to mainly buy it for the camera) > the ND filter does block the mono camera on the back if you are planning to use one so your probably goona get stuck with the stereo mics on the side or get a dedicated mic(which is best) >the video pro app has a built in ND filter on auto mode so you dont need a dedicated ND to correct for the over exposure if you want the on the go mobile camera experience. and i would like to see a video clarifying this and make a dedicated video on their camera setup so that ppl dont go raging into gsmarena comments and call it "bad"
This is absolutely amazing product from Sony, I'm using Xperia XA Duel and it works excellent upto these days and now I an switching to Mark Iii in a month.. Shout Out to Sony from Nepal 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵. This is what a smart phone should be.. Thank you Sony for making our live simple.
Nice one M D and thanks so much for your comment. Very happy you're part of the sony365 community here! You have a very tasty upgrade to look forward to! Feel free to tag @sony365official in any shots you take for Instagram! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Good luck on your operation. Hopefully it is nothing serious. Looking forward to more videos and the Japan trip! I was regretting getting the mark 3 when the pro I was announced - but then I realised that I was not a vlogger!
I know what you mean! I think the 1 III will be perfect for most people/non vloggers etc who want a premium device that is uncluttered stick android, and with all the Sony touches and Audio/Visual/Camera magic etc. Cheers, and thanks for commenting! Tom 🙏
I'm buying only Sony smartphones, and still satisfied with my xz1. Pro-I, very impressive, and desirable phone. But.. It seems made for content makers, and I'm not, I don't even making much pictures, videos much, and even if I'm making it I'm still satisfied with xz1 quality. Cause this "content", not to share for.. Planet. It's only for my closest people and good memories. I like this approach of Sony they started with "MARK" generation. And now I feel Sony specifying their phones. Starting from PROs. I suppose.. Someday they will finish General MARKs. And turn into deepening for specific directions such as.. Walkman and PlayStation XPERIence. To produce smartphones for audiophiles and gamers, and probably what I want to get is a privacy respecting phones. Which could be their another killer feature, after having long
I didn't like the price, but the PRO-I is a cracking camera which makes an ideal backup of the backup for a Sony shooter. It's a pretty good smart phone too. Regarding the scratching: I got that, but it was an aluminium thing that rubbed against the back. Ally can "write" on the back surface like a pencil. I also dropped mine screen down, from chest height, onto cobbles, where it bounced, flipped over and bounced again, several times on the camera side. Yikes. But everything was OK, it all works fine and there's just one tiny chip of black paint off the corner on the back. My Sony camera case arrived the day after, of course (also overpriced, but good) but I haven't dropped the camera since. Mainly because it feels less slippery with the case on. I'm content with mine - it does everything I expected to a standard I'm happy with. Just a bit too costly though - as usual.
just bought my Xperia 1 III after watching your reviews and comparison videos. I love it so much, great phone! Ordered my Sony Wf-1000xm4s and looking to replace my old Samsung 4k tv with a Bravia A series OLED later this year
Your enthusiasm helped me make the step and get the 1 iii. I am just in love, thank you! I missed this brand so much, after probably a decade with iPhones. I was on iPhone XR for a while because of all this recent computational photography post 11 that I just never got comfortable with. I can't believe I'm looking at Apple and Samsung with the same eyes... Sony is just so exciting, makes me plan new holidays haha, I cannot wait for the spring to photograph the fck out of my beautiful historic city full of parks and gardens, ahh God bless. PS: I baptised my niece this weekend and they all asked me what phone this is as they loved my pictures, and the conditions weren't even good. I guess people forgot how attractive natural pics are, even if they're not sticky colorful and hdr'd to bits. They also said that "the landscape pictures looked like those younger days when we took proper pictures of our holidays and frame them, the colour pallette, the slight overexposing when it made sense, etc" The front camera didn't bother me, no need to count new wrinkles. Perhaps a new generation would be nice but I am fine with this front camera for now. Software does a good job compensating for the lacking hardware. The only downside I found was how battery goes when using the camera, not horrible but it does go fast. However, I did murder this phone for the whole day and I was still online on way home so not bad at all.
@@SonyEnthusiast thanks! 😊 I don't because I need the higher refresh rate to avoid eye strain (amoled flicker issue), but I have it set up to trigger at 30% battery leftover. I also do not charge past 80% to conserve lifespan (there is a setting for automatic slow down but I just restricted it to stop charging and act like a laptop. Same when I play games, it doesn't use battery or charge, and so it doesn't even get warm while plugged in). So I rarely see Stamina mode throughout the day but I do place it on the wireless charger every now and then at work, not much though. To be frank, it feels like a normal battery when I go out long hours, it even got better I think. I did test the Stamina mode in the beginning, and it is very effective, easy one and a half day; overnight is really really good.
@@LewChain right, HS Power Control is a great feature every smartphone should have! Credit to Sony! I think one Chinese gaming phone has already stolen that feature.
It's god to see you back, Tom and that you're doing fine. I love this Xperia pro-I review and how you cleared the misunderstanding of some people and even TH-camrs about the phone not using full sensor. I'd like to see more about this Xperia Pro-I in future. Cheers.
Thanks Pixel Shader - always great to see you in the comments here - thanks for being part of the sony365 community. I look forward to getting back with some more PRO-I content as soon as I can! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Dang Tom Each Time You Take A Long Break From Your Videos, It Worries Me Brother. I Was Thinking You Were Sick Or Something. It's Great To Know You Are Well. Welcome Back!!! And Btw My XPERIA 1 Mark III Is Arriving Today! Super EXCITED hehe!!!
@@youtubeairways8646 Well at least he did not have to cover that Xperia 1 IV fiasco annoucement... No more seriously i just hope Tom is recovering or on a real break/ Dont know if he was back i, Panama City
Hi man, i was very excited when i heard about this phone and thought a lot about it. I love my old Nikon D3000 but i never had it with me on so many occasions, because it's just too large. Don't want it when i am on the bike, or am hiking on the mountains and so on. I realized that i did not have a camera on me on 90% of the occasions when i had the chance to make great shots. This Sony is what i wanted all the time. Your review, together with reviews from actual photographers convinced me to buy this phone. So many tech influencers have no idea about photography and or are payed by apple like a Brownlee and are hardcore chills who have the setting on auto all the time 😵 I am so happy with the Sony - please keep doing what you do Sir, honest voices like yours are needed more then ever these times with all the influencing Madness. Will do my first pictues today, i am totally hyped 😄
Such a great message to read - thanks so much for posting it here. By now I guess you'll have taken your first ever shots and your journey has.ñ begun! You're going to have an enormous amount of fun!! Wishing you all the very best - go ahead and tag @sony365official on Instagram with some of your shots! Cheers, Tom 🙏
@@tech_edit hey Tom, thanks for the response. I am already on it. 😁 The phone feels nice. Heavy, solid, high quality and my first shots were very promising. The camera with Smartphone abilities 😂 This weekend will be a nice photo session and i won't forget you of course. 👍
Hello Tom, Thanks to this Video review I am seriously considering an Xperia Pro I - probably by the end of this week. I wish you all the best with your operation and look forward to more content in the new year.
Cheers Gary, I look forward to getting back into it in the new year - thanks so much for your message. I've been reading through the comments today and the only thing I'm a bit concerned about is the battery life of the PRO-I.. as long as that is in line with the 1 III then i would say there is nothing major to worry about. If you go ahead and get one, do let me know how you get on with it! Cheers, Tom 🙏
It's true, I wanted to get away from Apple, & was considering a couple of makes, not really knowing of Sony Xperia, when I chanced upon one of your reviews.. That was it.. Now I'm a fan with an Xperia 1ii...
Fantastic news! Cheers👍. I'll always have a soft spot for the 1 II - it was the device that got me so hooked that I did about 20 videos on it (that may be inaccurate, but it was A LOT of videos haha) and it lead to me relaunching the channel as a Sony channel! To this day I still love it. Thanks so much for commenting and being part of the sony365 community! Cheers Tom 🙏
Tom it's great to see you back and good luck with your surgery! This was another excellent review. I've been using Sony mirrorless cameras for several YEARS. Last year I decided to purchase the Xperia 1-II, based in part on the excellent information and reviews your channel provided. I'm seriously considering upgrading to a Pro - I. The X 1-II - display should have been brighter for outdoor daytime photography. Have you found the displays on these newer models to be brighter than the 1-II?
Cheers Paul thanks so much for the kind words. I'm so happy the videos have been useful! Re the screen brightness, I reckon it's literally 100% the same as the 1 III. No discernible difference at all. Hope that helps - and happy choosing 👍. Cheers, Tom 🙏
@@tech_edit Of course, I liked it. I have been watching other TH-camrs but I was expecting your opinion. And it worth to waiting. Still though, I wonder if Sony will release new flagship for 2022.
Can't wait to see your review. I've got mine since monday and i love it. The design is unbelievable and so is the camera. The biggest problem I've had was finding a screenprotector. All of them are too small. I've settled with the one from "just in case" It's around 2mm too small and has no oleophobic coating but at least it has transparent edges.(most of them have black edges)
Good point re the screen protector. If I find one that fits I'll share the info. Really glad you got hold of one and you're happy with it! Thanks for commenting and being part of the sony365 community! Cheers, Tom 🙏
@@tech_edit thnx that would be very helpful 👍🏽. Maybe (if you have the time) it would be nice to make a video (or more) on the photo pro, video pro and cinema pro apps. About what settings are available an when/how to use them. Would be also very cool if a camera man/woman could give their perspective.
I hope you are doing well just had a small request; if its within your reach to get Sony to have the Answering Machine feature back on the Xperia line up I'm still using Xperia Z3 Compact for the very reason and need to switch soon
Dear Tom, New leaks and rumors regarding a 4th generation of the Xperia 1, 5 and 10 lines are spreading! Are you going to make new video about this? Best regards, a Sony365 and Xperia fan from Denmark
not seen any vids from you in 6 months... you missed covering the Xperia 1 mk IV and 5 mk IV... hope youre alright... just wondering whats happened to the Channel... wish you the absolute BEST! regards from London
Thanks - luckily I have a good friend nearby with a very stylish apartment! I'll put together a dedicated studio asap with proper acoustics too! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Hi Tom. Good to see you back... I have a question, The phone is already available here in Europe, how is your Pro-I still running beta software since it is already in hands of buyers.. Edit: Well finished the video and mosr importantly wish you in advance a strong recovery and be surrounded by friends and family
Cheers Joe, thanks mate. Our model was received a month ago and needed to go back for further software updates. Sony did offer me a fully working model but unfortunately I had to decline as I was already on my way back to Latin America! Actually, if it wasn't for Andrew and Juliana I wouldn't have even been able to get this video out. It's been badly delayed too while I've been sorting out boring health stuff. By now we had actually planned to have had about 4 videos out on this device - including a full review. Soon we will have an extra pair of hands to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen again. Just bad timing! A lot of TH-camrs had a pre-production device but they just didn't disclose that it was pre-production I suppose. Thanks for the kind words. Have a good one, cheers, Tom 🙏
I have a Sony Xperia 1 III since 3 days I switched from Samsung 21 Galaxy ultra. I find that Sony is much faster and much better at playing games. I live in Nederland an here samsung is using the exynos processor. And it is mutch slower. I am much happier now with my Sony than with my Samsung. And i love the camera the zoom lens is perfect for me. thanks for the videos you make it helped me a lot.
Nice one Patrick! Yes, definitely you've picked a winner there. As good as even the 888-powered S21 Ultra is - it's just not as rapid and enjoyable to use as the Xperia. Thanks so much for commenting. Congratulations on the Max Verstappen win yesterday too! 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱cheers, Tom 🙏
Hi Tom, thanks a lot for the enthusiasm you always put on the beloved Sony devices. I have purchased my Pro-I instead of the Xperia 1 M3 not because I am a professional in photography or videos but rather because I would like to start doing nice pictures with some “mindfulness”, thinking about the quality of few pics avoiding the burden of dealing with a massive amount of pictures that clog my telephone and clouds. The only thing I need now is learning how to use it, I wonder whether there is some kind of training on-line dedicated to this telephone (well, actually I mean a training on photography and videos ...maybe I should look for a general one)… All the best for your operation!
Hey Luigi - I think your approach to the PRO-I makes perfect sense and you will learn a huge amount (and it'll be a really enjoyable journey). I personally have used TH-cam videos of photographers who used Sony a7 III /a7C cameras to get the basics nailed, partly because the layout of the software is so similar etc. I wish I had saved the best examples to share with you now, but I'm not that organized! But that'd be my advice anyway. Feel free to tag @sony365official with some of your shots! It's going to be fascinating to compare you early shots with the ones you'll get a year from now etc. Yeah, you're going to have a lot of fun! Cheers, Tom 🙏
hi Tom , you're the main reason for my to buy new sony xperia PRO-i ..actually i had already sony xperia 1 ii with me now!!!!! but you encourages me to perches the new one . thanks
Thanks so much for your message Bo! Very happy to hear the videos here have been useful. I can't wait to get back to work and spend some proper quality time with the PRO-I. I hope you're extremely happy with it! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Some reviewers are finding new ways to hate on this phone lol...it's not even about the quality no more 😂...some even take bad pictures on purpose lol...I can take bad pictures on Sony a7iii too
Good point. Yher s something happening with the psychology with the big TH-camrs bullying OEMs with smaller/shrinking market share. I think they don't because they know their audience is mainly iPhone/Samsung maybe? Sometimes the things that are said are just ridiculous! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Thanks. Yes, I borrowed the apartment of a good friend here to get this one video out. But early next year we will have a proper studio again, with proper acoustics again! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Great video. I'd love to have a Pro-I but it's out of my price range for now. I have a 5 iii arriving tomorrow, just in time for Christmas. And on that note have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Have the 1ii, 1iii and Pro-I. Love them all. But have to say that the 1iii is the best all rounder. Best zoom and wireless charging. Using the pro-i ATM and miss the 105 mm lense. Everything else is fairly similar between the 2. The main lense is amazing though 🤟🤟
Thanks for that view between Pro-I and mark III :) You are lucky...and i ll see if i can put my hands on a Xperia III but will sure miss the main camera of Pro-I

Also I downloaded the Video Pro app via APK on my 1II and have even been able to use the GP-VPT2BT perfectly with it so ideally the new Vlog Monitor just released can also work with the 1II/1III via Video Pro I would've thought ?
Nice one & lucky you! Congratulations, you've bought a Suoerphone, not a flagship! Wishing you all the best with it. Feel free to tag @sony365official on your Instagram shots! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Your humility is beautiful; I already have this incredible phone, or camera-phone to be exact. I only bought it for knowing what it will do for me, professionally. And to date I've stayed with it because I love it so much. It's on par with my very favourite digital Leica. Many thanks for your review. ~Wendi UK 🌻
Marvellous camera phone. I sincerely hope that SONY will upgrade this phone and Xperia 1iii by : A) Utilities Variable fast apature to cover the whole 1 inch sensor even if it takes to increase the bump, please Sony. B) Double up that shutter button as one step recording in emergency cases & also photo journalism scenarios. I hope Sony listen to our photographers,....

And....well done to SONY for finally releasing a phone fairly quickly. Thank God! They announced the Xperia Pro I in November and it's been shipping since early December to customers. Please continue to do it like this SONY!!
True, bit by bit the Xperia operation is improving, in all areas it seems!
Yup, same here in NZ. Only about 1.5 months after its announcement. Although the price is 2900-3000 NZD 😔. That's almost 1000 NZD more than 1iii...
Hey Tom and team, we miss you and I have a feeling more great content is yet to come! Hope all is well
The game changer on this phone is actually the lens on the main camera, even tho it’s not covering the whole frame and we know it was never intended to do so, it’s the first compact phone camera to feature high quality Zeiss glass, not plastic like the rest of the phones, so the detail render should be better, also the light transmission.
Actually, the LG V30 in 2017 had an all glass lens element, though not made by Zeiss like the Xperia.
@@victorrumyantsev3718 because nearly all other smartphone camera lenses are plastic.
Hi Tom
First of all good luck with your operation.
Take Care. Stay Safe.
4 months, my TH-cam notifications feel empty without Sony365!

Weird. You did not get the update yet for the 50mm lense? I am using it here on my final model. Though maybe it lacks the 50mm one on preproduction?
By the time this video went live I'm sure it would have received the update. It's been a tricky couple of weeks for getting the vid live (first one I recorded on a skyscraper rooftop for old times sake but the audio was too bad to use unfortunately - it gets way too windy up there sometimes!). I'll be back on it again asap though and we will have more regular weekly output here. Thanks for bearing with us! Cheers, Tom 🙏
there is also misassumptions from reviewers who used ND filters on some of their videos... some key points to note here( who are looking to mainly buy it for the camera)
> the ND filter does block the mono camera on the back if you are planning to use one so your probably goona get stuck with the stereo mics on the side or get a dedicated mic(which is best)
>the video pro app has a built in ND filter on auto mode so you dont need a dedicated ND to correct for the over exposure if you want the on the go mobile camera experience.
and i would like to see a video clarifying this and make a dedicated video on their camera setup so that ppl dont go raging into gsmarena comments and call it "bad"
Good point Walter, you're absolutely right. Cheers, Tom 🙏

I suppose.. Someday they will finish General MARKs. And turn into deepening for specific directions such as.. Walkman and PlayStation XPERIence. To produce smartphones for audiophiles and gamers, and probably what I want to get is a privacy respecting phones. Which could be their another killer feature, after having long
Tom please don't get hit by a bus, i did enjoyed every bit of this analysis you gave on the pro I. Great job man stay alive ok
They also said that "the landscape pictures looked like those younger days when we took proper pictures of our holidays and frame them, the colour pallette, the slight overexposing when it made sense, etc"
The front camera didn't bother me, no need to count new wrinkles.
I'm glad you made the right choice 😀. Do you use stamina mode?

The biggest problem I've had was finding a screenprotector.
All of them are too small.
I've settled with the one from "just in case"
It's around 2mm too small and has no oleophobic coating but at least it has transparent edges.(most of them have black edges)
Good to see you again. Hope things go well
Cheers Neil, thank you! Tom 🙏
Where are you Tom?
How he's ok
Please make more videos! We miss you!

I'm still using Xperia Z3 Compact for the very reason and need to switch soon

Thanks - luckily I have a good friend nearby with a very stylish apartment! I'll put together a dedicated studio asap with proper acoustics too! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Can you please share some RAW files from the Pro-i
I definitely will with the full review! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Thank you, Tom. This is a fantastic phone. 👍
You're welcome mate - agreed, this one is really special. Cheers, Tom 🙏
Thank you very much for your trust in Team Sony and the efforts your team did! 🥰😘😍🤩😆
Cheers, and thanks to you for being a highly valued member of the sony365 community here. Always good to see your comments! Cheers, Tom 🙏
I just say one thing.
Sony is God in Mobile Phones World...
I Appreciate your efforts Tom
Keep it up Bro 💐
Thanks so much, very grateful for your comments! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Hi Tom.
Good to see you back...
I have a question,
The phone is already available here in Europe, how is your Pro-I still running beta software since it is already in hands of buyers..
Edit:
Well finished the video and mosr importantly wish you in advance a strong recovery and be surrounded by friends and family
Have a good one, cheers, Tom 🙏
i love you Toooom. where are you? 😭
Tom is still recovering from his operation.
Any new updates on the Xperia 1 IV? 👀
Late to the party! Hey Tom and the Sony365 team, good to see you again! Great video on the beast! Does the vlog kit work on the 1 III?
Hello mate. Yep, it does! That's a good point. Good to see you here again, wishing you all the very best! Cheers Tom 🙏
@@tech_edit Nice! 👍 Thanks and you too!
@@tech_edit thank you very much :)
hi Tom ,
you're the main reason for my to buy new sony xperia PRO-i ..actually i had already sony xperia 1 ii with me now!!!!! but you encourages me to perches the new one . thanks
Thanks so much for your message Bo! Very happy to hear the videos here have been useful. I can't wait to get back to work and spend some proper quality time with the PRO-I. I hope you're extremely happy with it! Cheers, Tom 🙏
can we use the grip and monitor with our 1iii? or is it just for the pro?
Just for the pro
Although it's designed for the Pro, we did try it out with the 1 II and it fitted ok.
Hey tom any updates??? Sony Xperia 1 IV is out
Tom is still recovering from his operation
I really like the audio quality but u should consider soundproofing the room. Nice video as always✨
Thanks for that view between Pro-I and mark III :) You are lucky...and i ll see if i can put my hands on a Xperia III but will sure miss the main camera of Pro-I
Your videos made my decision to get an Xperia Pro-i easier. Got an amazing deal here in Hong Kong through my mobile service provider. Thanks.
Thanks so much for your comment! Very happy to hear you got a PRO-I and a good deal, too! Do feel free to tag @sony365official with any shots on Instagram. And thanks for commenting and being part of the sony365 community! Wishing you all the very best. Cheers, Tom 🙏
Thank you Tom, today I bought xperia pro i ❤️ I really enjoy it as before when I bought xperia 1 iii
Congratulations! That's epic news, thanks so much for sharing!👍
Where have you gone mate?
Make video on sony 1 mark 4 leaks and what to expect I'm very exciting about 1 mark IV may launch
Also I downloaded the Video Pro app via APK on my 1II and have even been able to use the GP-VPT2BT perfectly with it so ideally the new Vlog Monitor just released can also work with the 1II/1III via Video Pro I would've thought ?
Yep, that should all work just fine! Cheers, Tom 🙏
Is it better in terms of Audio and movies than the 1iii?
Nope. Same experience entirely 👍. Cheers, Tom 🙏
Thanks Tom! Watching your video on my Xperia Pro i now..... It is really an awesome phone.. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice one & lucky you! Congratulations, you've bought a Suoerphone, not a flagship! Wishing you all the best with it. Feel free to tag @sony365official on your Instagram shots! Cheers, Tom 🙏
How many versions does PRO-I comes in ? Trying to determine which version would be better for me in terms of Network Bands.
hey mate finally purchased my "Xperia Pro I" glad i waited was originally going to get "Xperia 1 III" :)
Nice one Kane - really happy that worked out! Thanks for your comment and enjoy your PRO-I.
~Wendi UK 🌻
Tom u haven't been posting lately all good?
Tom is still recovering from his operation
Marvellous camera phone.
I sincerely hope that SONY will upgrade this phone and Xperia 1iii by :
A) Utilities Variable fast apature to cover the whole 1 inch sensor even if it takes to increase the bump, please Sony.
B) Double up that shutter button as one step recording in emergency cases & also photo journalism scenarios.
I hope Sony listen to our photographers,....
