As soon as Pomni said you can come back to the circus with me, I immediately went oh he's gonna die
I wanted to belive...
Same
i went like: NPC on a loose!
"have fun with the execution"
@@k96man oh fuck, now it hits different XD
My dread isn't that Gummigoo won't come back, is that Pomni will see him again in another adventure and she tries to talk to him but he doesn't remember her
Or thinks she betrayed him
Me to 😢
Or even worse, he thinks she's guilty of what happened
That's exactly what's going to happen. There's no way The Circus would have room to backs up every NPC's memories. If we see Gummigoo again, it won't be the same person.
yeah feel like we are going to see him again, tho it wont really be him.
Heck he might come back again and again in different forms leaving Pomni more and more depressed.
Idk, this shit is dark, like life.
Gummigoo's death (I seriously hope he was just teleported out to be reused later) really messed me up ngl.
My new face boy needs to come back ,really hope he remembers pomni if he returns
I’m really hoping he just comes back in general! I was silently saying to myself, “Oh Come On! Why Did He Have To Die!? Can’t we just get of Jax? I don’t think anyone will mind that sociopath getting the axe!”
I’m more furious of Jax not attending Kaufmo’s funeral service. Though, who knows if they were even close.. I know how he is and his personality but c’mon 😔
@@flashtyb Oh they would definitely mind. You ever meet a Jax stan? If he was going to be axed they'd axe Goose first.
@@BrittneyCake oh with that face just before leaving, jax was definitely close. just a little too in denial of feelings to accept it
The irrational fear I felt when Jax called Gangle "Submissive and-" is crazy, relieved he didn't finish that line correctly I don't think the internet would've been able to handle it
i refuse to believe there wasn't at least one outtake where he said the actual line
It doesn't matter if he didn't actually say it, the internet will do its thing
Submissive and what?
@@JRicardoTorres3752 something slutty thats for sure
@@JRicardoTorres3752 Ahem, a word often used along with a certain Vaporeon meme. Submissive and '...' You can figure it out. Not typing the word due to possible minors.
Pomni comforting Gummigoo is definitely my favorite scene. It shows character development and amazing writing on both of them 🥺
*snaps*
Thats my favorite scene too
Agreed, it gives us a better look at Pomni's true character, which was hard to really discern in episode 1
I disagree on the development part, it's just episode 2.
It's more that we get to see what she does when things are quiet, as opposed to the frantic nature of the first episode.
She got to show herself as the wiser one, because she is in fact an adult.
I like how there was no music.
In regards to the ending: Basically with Pomni's nightmare in the beginning she gets abstracted and nobody cares, just as it seemed to be the impression with what everyone reacted to Kaufmo Abstracting.
But with the funeral, Pomni can see they actually all care. They loved and mourn Kaufmo. They care. And she now feels their hands catching her in the abyss changing the ending of that nightmare. That they care for her and that is a level of actual friendship and support she can see in this bunch now.
Its also nice because that funeral is a bit of meaning in this meaningless world.
They lost there bodys and there freedom, but they can at least still hold events and share memories with each other.
I like that at the core its clear that Digital Circus is a reflection on what it means to live.
Reality will allways be a mystery out of our control, gods or no gods, we still bend to the wills of forces we are powerless against.
But that dose not mean we cant still make meaningfull moments.
The ending seems sad but in reality its a moment of them all sharing a peace of the freedom they still have.
All of them, but Jax. His hand is the only one not catching her.
Except for Jax, he's a douche, he doesn't care.
@@rubykelly2305 I'd like to think that he wasn't there because he didn't attend the funeral and so Pomni doesn't know what he would've done.
But we got saw a quick glimpse of his face when they mentioned Kaufmo's funeral, sharing an expression of what looked like sadness quickly being frustrated or angry (maybe about Kaufmo or maybe disappointment in the latest adventure lol).
I hope to see more of a character development for Jax as he seems like the one who does care deep down but refuses to acknowledge it.
@@megarayquaza9054 Just wait for the character development mate.
Gummigoo died the same way as Sir Pentious, unexpectedly annihilated disrespectfully out of nowhere by a divine being
At least Sir Pentious went to heaven.
the will of G, i must believe
Think of like being a pc in pokemon lol
(Hes not dead, just gone)
But Sir Pentious went to Heaven at least...
Also, Rather it be Caine than Adam, sounds a little less horrible at least
Oh my god, now I'm imagining "It starts with sorry" but with Gummigoo as Sir Pentious, Pomni as Charlie, and Jax and Zooble as Angel Dust and Vaggie.
Man this just hurts
Gummigoo was the only other character who could relate to Pomni on a deeper scale and then got snapped, plus he’s a genuinely cute and interesting character
I really hope he could come back, and maybe even maybe haven retained his memories
His VA also killed it on the performance, there's a moment where his voice trembles and it breaks me emotionally
Should he come back, I think he'll lose any trust he had with Pomni if he still remembers her.
I think there will be another candy canyon kingdom adventure with the fudge as an enemy, so I hope gummigoo appears there
@@chrislaurent1137 Which is unfair because she had no idea but is likely the most realistic scenario.

11:50 Fun fact, the gator posing is actually a reference to the game Pizza Tower.
Good to know, that someone knows that reference
Also important to mention that the poses' main feature in the game is to serve as a parry when taking damage. The gator hit a pose when hitting a rock and spammed it while in the rocky road.
@keanu3782 You're right! I didn't catch the fact that he was specifically doing it to parry. That makes the reference hit funnier for me.
I was just about to say
Alicia: So are these like FNF poses
*everyone hated that*
@@gboogie3257 fallout reference nice, also i was freaking losing it when she said that
Fun fact: The teapots out of bounds is likely a reference to Russell's Teapot. It's an analogy that the burden of proof lies on the person making a claim, as opposed to shifting the burden of disproof to others.
AKA: If you claim that a teapot exists in space, it's up to you to prove that that's true, not for others to prove you wrong.
Actually they're Utah Teapots - an early test render object created in 1975 by Martin Newell.
Why not both?
@@jordanhunter3375 Both is good.
Lots of 3d animation references in that section:
"The Teapot primitive in 3ds Max derives from the original data developed by Martin Newell in 1975. Beginning with a graph-paper sketch of a teapot that he kept on his desk, Newell calculated cubic Bezier splines to create a wireframe model."
----
The cubes might have been a reference to the Blender starting cubes... but they're just cubes so hard to tell.
The frozen models are source models. I don't use them but using them allows you to play with duplicates without altering/damaging the originals or using more memory. And if you improve the source model that change carries over to the duplicates rather than having to update all of them manually... as I understand. So they get shoved off screen.
@@helicopterharry5101 They could also be dev cubes - in game development if you want something specific to happen in a single area, you often put that functionality on a default object (I've seen it being a white cube quite a few times) and place it out of bounds.
The reason why there's a bunch of teapots in the out of bounds area is because a teapot is a default model in most if not all 3d modeling software.
That is a super cool fun fact!
@@aliciaxdeath It's also a reference to the concept "Reynolds Teapot", the idea that if you say something, YOU are the one who has to prove it, and nobody needs to disprove it.
@@doubleaabattery7562 Okay I looked up the Newell/Utah Teapot, and I find no relation to Russell's Teapot.

33:39 Those were Ragatha, Gangle and Zooble's hands stopping Pomni from falling into an abyss. Her nightmare in the beginning of the episode was her being easily thrown away to die and disregarded by everyone, but seeing everyone mourn and actually care about each other made her see that she won't be just discarded and forgotten on a whim.
Why not Kinger's hand I wonder?
@@azeTrom17 He's there, it's just that because he doesn't have arms it's hard to see his hands.
@@azeTrom17 If I'm not mistaken, Kinger's hand is at the very back. You can distinctly see a white glove in that area.
The fact that Ragatha mentioned Caine reusing NPCs tells me this isn't the last we've seen of Gummigoo, and I feel like he's going to have an arc of self-actualisation as memories start to bleed through after each "death"
It's a fun idea, but the Circus wouldn't have any reason to back up his memories. That's processing power that's better used elsewhere.
@@PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth Oh, no, I don't think the Circus saved his memories either. I think he's going to get them back on his own, become self-aware, to a point where Caine can't tell who's human or NPC like he said.
In case it wasn't obvious from the first episode, Jax's personality is literally just "I want chaos just cause I want chaos"
29:10 It seems you know all about that
He probably just views it all like a video game,
they are all handling the circus differently, jax is handling it like a game.
The Chaos is what's keeping him sane.
@@purpleguy319 I was about to say the same.
This circus seems more like a zoo. Perhaps the abstractions are an issue like under-stimulation, or solitary confinement.
I'd be interested to know how long Jax has been one of Cain's guests.
He's like an avatar of intrusive thoughts
When Ragatha said that Caine will just reuse Gummygoo's assests, it doesn't matter. It wasn't the same Gummygoo that went through the portal. It'll just be like the same one that was standing inanimately under the map. Sad that he's pretty much gone now.
Actually I doubt that. Since the humans would find it jarring to encounter the same NPCs but they don't retain knowledge. So Caine may have dealt with that before.
Also if it's a learning AI, wiping their past experience is also wiping learning data that would be used to improve their performance.
So there's a good chance Gummygoo will retain the knowledge in some form, but may be repackaged and manifest in other ways.
One could make an argument that Caine could just use the data that the last Gummygoo had which would include him arriving at the circus. So its possible he could still have memories. It'd be a neat spin on the topic of being alive. Kinda like what Soma did when you'd end up in a clone.
@@rosenrot234Now that you mentioned Soma... seeing the way this show is leaning towards, I couldn't but think about Soma. And I thought something like: "Ey! Maybe this show is inspired by Soma, and maybe they are in a similar ark". It's a wacky idea, I know, but I certainly hope that the show touch similar concepts
The hands at the end were everyone else's hands saving her. Pomni's nightmare at the start was from her fear that no one truly cared for her, and if she abstracted, they'd all just move on from her. But knowing that they actually mourn for the ones they've lost makes her finally feel welcome among them for the first time.
I guess many people have missed the point of the funeral scene...
The episode opens up with Pomni having a nightmare about abstracting and being thrown out....No one remembers her, no one is bothered she is gone, they're even mocking her as she falls...
But the funeral scene shows that even though it doesn't seem this way - they love and cherrish each other, and if Pomni abstracts one day - she may rest peacefully, knowing there are people who will remember her, and mourn her being gone...
The point is not to make the viewer sad that the character we've never saw is dead - the point is to make us happy that Pomni is finally at peace
Yeah. Not sure if it's a media literacy problem, or just that reactors tend to devote too much of their brainpower to "reacting" and lose track of narrative themes.
30:41 HE DID IT FOR US
In the end, it was Pomni that was falling. Everyone grabbed her hand probably was her sanity coming back

@@parkersmith8711 TBH, it seems more like he's just not comfortable letting himself feel those deeper emotions. Apathy seems to be his coping mechanism to their horrific situation; similar in some ways to Ragatha's optimism. Jax seeks bigger and bigger distractions, and has long since stopped caring for consequences in his drive to attain them. Ragatha seeks to uplift others, while I get the vibes she seems to be neglecting herself quite a bit. There is likely a make-or-break reckoning coming on these fronts.
@@cardbutton892 I thinkr ather than neglecting herself, I think she's just furiously repressing any negative emotions. Like the whole "Haha, I'm totally not upset about you abandoning me for the exit!" is a big red flag. I feel like she's the most likely to abstract out of everyone there tbh.

Not necessarily the exact teasers, seeing as there are clips and glitches in them, but similar
For the less read people out there, the Fudge is a straight-up reference to the Greedy from Raggedy Ann and Andy a Musical Adventure. A semi-surrealist film based on the title toy characters.
The Greedy was a sentient being made of taffy, who would keep eating himself, and the assortment of candy that made up his body, but because he's trapped inside a giant pit, it wasn't actually going anywhere, so it kept floating back up to the surface causing a perpetual cycle of him eating.
I remember a quote from The Good Place: "Don't worry, they're not real." "Well, they're fake people, but their _pain_ is real."
"If I start losing track of who's a human and who's an NPC, who knows what... could happen..." Oh no, Caine has _totally_ poofed a human before, hasn't he?
Or put one through violent maiming and torment of some kind.
Or had previous Players do something to another Player who Cain thought was an NPC.
I'm pretty sure Jax thinks the other members of the group are NPC's. He refers to Kinger and Gangle as "characters" in the first episode, and in this episode speaks to Gangle as if he thinks her personality is static. He also gets excited at the idea of messing with the new NPC's. If I'm right, then that would explain why he has absolutely no regard for anyone in the main cast, using them as props (like we see him do with Pomni), or otherwise just Bullying them.
Its more likely Jax is just acting like they're not real just so he doesn't go insane. Regarding Kinger and Gangle. They can't die even when Abstracted so why not go nuts with it?
@@rosenrot234 Either that or he has caught on that they're copies and he considers them no different than AI. I don't think pretending they're fake will work out for him if that's the case.

@@jordanhunter3375 And he even brought up the cherry on top. Who in their right mind remembers a detail as hyperspecific as that?!
Specific detail: Pomni seems to remember now where she's from and now has knowledge of how games work. Some of her past must have been unlocked by the trip to the void back in the pilot, and since Caine said human minds are one of a few things he can't manipulate, Pomni might someday figure out a legitimate way to free everyone that even Caine himself could never consider possible.
That or she just never forgot the general ideas like how society works & what humans are but forgot a lot of specifics like who she actually is. She never forgot putting on the headset for example.
I think she only forgot personal details like her name. It’s not like she forgot how to read or anything when she got put in the circus
I mean they all clearly have real world memories to some extent. In this episode Jax referenced Augustus Gloop from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
The fact that this show is only two episodes in and has already become so successful is truly amazing.
I'm starting to wonder if Gangle's comedy mask is gonna last longer than 10 minutes into literally ANY episode of this show lol.
Cain at the end makes me think people can escape from the game world but if he starts throwing NPCs into human brains there would be trouble.
Yeah, you don't want the closest thing to a "god" in your game universe to be confused on who's a "person" and who "isn't"
Since his own core programming likely makes him have to manage this, and further confusing, or "overloading" his memory could have DISASTROUS consequences
I'm thinking he accidentally killed a person instead of an npc cus he got them mixed up
If I were Pomni, I'd insist Caine keep the NPCs anyway because it helps keep people sane and if he's worried about getting confused he can just BE confused and *beeping* _deal with it._ And I'd attack his ass everytime he showed up, forever, or until he agrees.
I'd rather not have the thing responsible for you be confused.
@@rosenrot234 If it meant keeping people from being poofed I could deal.
I think it's implied that there's a chance any one of the circus group could already be an NPC that Caine lost track of. Pomni included.
*"he can just BE confused and beeping deal with it"*
You seem to forget that Caine isn't like the others. He's an AI, and he doesn't have the same sense of emotions and reality, or the same thought process as the circus members do. So him saying what he did, and the actions he took after, are perfectly understandable in that he doesn't possess that sense of mortality.
4:12 Oh thats nothing; I once took the entire supply of Prince Edward Island's Canadian bacon, and I, burnt, it, all, to a charcoal.
In what i see, the ending was to represent that Ponmi is finally understanding that these are actual people, people that have gone trough exactly what she's going, that do care about their friends on there, and that do care about the lost ones, therefor, would care if something happened to her, they do care about her, and that makes her smile, it's one of those instances where sadness makes you happy
“I, am the Great, Mighty Poo and I am going to throw my…!”
I'm glad someone else thought that, lol!
It would be interesting to see the candy princess return in the future, wanting revenge for what they did to her kingdom. It might be possible, since they mentioned Caine sometimes reuse NPCs
At the start of the episode she had the nightmare of abstracting. Likely because who wouldn’t be afraid of becoming one of them, plus there’s the fear of being chased by the abstracted kaufmo. But furthermore, with Jax and Raggatha in the nightmare, her further fear is that no one will care if she was to abstract. Which makes sense when you consider how normal they made abstraction seem plus there are a lot kept in the hole. Hence one of the reasons she can relate with gummigoo. Her life possibly has no meaning and it doesn’t matter if she was to die, which is only empathised when the character she identified with gets slaughtered by Cain.
Therefore the point of the hands at the end is to show that her anxiety has been relieved. She realises that they hold funerals for those that are gone and even further than that realises that they really do care, pouring their heart out over Kaufmo and therefore giving pomni validation for her existence. Giving her confirmation that if the inevitable was to possibly happen and she abstracted that someone would care
It just occured to me that in episode one they said they don't sleep, and just refer to sleep as the time they spend alone in their rooms... so if Pomni was actually sleeping, then what does that mean?
I suppose they can sleep, they just don't need to
@@Irreverent_Radiation yep, they can but they don´t need to
It was said they really don't *need* to sleep, but it doesn't mean they can't. Plus, being as these are people, spending time in ones' room and sleeping is probably just habitual to them at this point. They're minds still retain thoughts of how things happened in the real world, I'm sure.
Could be daydreaming for all we know, or the remnants of their human minds working to give them a simulation of sleep.
@@Lambent_Omega True enough, just as they don't NEED to eat, yet they do it anyways. I kind of love how Pomni’s little “I’m not a child, you don’t have to hype me up.” moment. Kind of neatly reminds us that these are grown people with adult issues in one extremely relatable sentence.
And that even they aren’t immune to making that mistake because Pomni’s avatar looks it.
She’s in a bad way, in a bad situation and bad state of mind but she doesn’t want to be patronised.
What I’m trying to say is Pomni is total mood and Lizzie is killing it with the characterisation.
I feel EVERYTHING she says without needing the ham anyone else does.
As an extrovert myself, I can confirm it's an extrovert thing. I like to get people hyped up in general, or at least laughing at a joke or six...teen...thousand.
But I also used to DJ somewhat regularly, and getting people hyped up while I was working was just...chef's kiss. Perfection. I hope I can start DJing again soon.
But yeah, extrovert thing. Confirmed. :3
This episode changed me on a molecular level
Episode 2 was SO phenomenal it was way worth the wait
The theme was basically that pomni fearing that nothing matters and no one cares. But the funeral at the end showed her that people actually do care.
Honestly was not expecting the direction this episode took, but I'm glad it did. Gives some proper character development to Pomni (alongside another helping of trauma). Glad to see that she's starting to give the others a chance.
I didnt think about it until you started saying how sacred maple syrup was, but yeah now I'm reminded of the 3000 tonnes of maple syrup that got stolen
The hands at the end were a callback to Pomni’s nightmare from the beginning of the episode. She thought no one would miss her if she abstracted, but seeing that the others did have a funeral for the people who do lifted that weight off her shoulders, so her nightmare got a happy ending.
I love how the ending shot of the episode is like a mirror of the Pilots, its still the main theme of the show as it zooms out, only this time its more hopeful as Pomni realizes that she has people who care about her!
RIP Gummigoo. Like the perspective of human life, he went through all of that, just do die. Like damn. Cane didn't even give him a chance to truly live.
33:23 I think this moment is supposed to be Pomni's continuation of her dream from the beginning of the episode. She was naturally overwhelmed by everything going on and scared and likely felt alone, which is why she dreamt of being left to abstract. Just like how we sometimes try to continue a dream we had after waking up, Pomni comes to the realization during the funeral that all her fellow humans are actually decent people who will do their best to be there for one another in this crazy world and that she would never be left to die the same way she left Ragatha in episode 1. And thus, her nightmare received closure
Huh, something I didn't notice previously when watching this myself and then another reaction to it is that, alongside Ragatha, the other hand that catches Pomni at the end seems to be Zooble. That's a rather interesting detail that *she* grabs Pomni's hand. We've hardly seen anything of her really, much less Pomni, so her reaching out to catch Pomni in that shot is an odd thing that must have significance.
I think it's not only because Zooble attended the funeral but also because they are one of what everyone thinks is the humans too, right? Pomni was mainly afraid of the other people not caring about her. Them caring about Kaufmo reminded her that they still are human. They still are "real".
I mean, we didn't see Caine's or Jax's hand, right? They didn't attend the funeral and Caine obviously doesn't care about the abstracteds due to how robotically (literally) he discarded Kaufmo.
I'm more curious why Kinger's hand wasn't there with the others. He was at the funeral too, and clearly cares
@@azeTrom17 his was if you watch the original and slow it down, it's just his hand though cause he doesn't have arms so it's easy to miss.
Fun Fact about Caine's Voice Actor:
He is actually Canadian, so he is very fitting with the topic of this adventure
33:44 that was pomni from he nightmare in the beginning. But everyone saves her in this version. It means she's warming up to them and doesn't think they'll foget her immediately anymore
Is it weird if I see pomni as my anxiety induced depressed spirit animal?
I noticed when pomni was falling, it was ragatha, zooble, and gangle that grabbed her hand
Hmm, making me think it's either those she's feeling most connected with or that maybe they're the real ones & our dear rabbit & king are just NPCs or it's gonna be the other way around.
@@TheMaliciousGamer4654Nah, she already knew they are humans too since the Pilot, I think that the reason why we don't see Jax's hand because Pomni don't see him as a potential friend, I mean who can blame her? Jax is a jerkass and he basically try to kill her along with the bandits
Kingler in the other hand, I don't know, maybe because he is unreliable Pomni don't want him as friend?
I think the ending was supposed to be pomni realizing that she wouldn’t be forgotten and that she does mean something. Like at the beginning it’s like “I can’t even remember her name” but then seeing them mourn Kaufmo kinda helped her feel a bit better
Oh, the posing bandit was doing Pizza Tower taunts.
More specifically, he was parrying the damage from hitting rocks with the Pizza Tower taunts.
The hands represented feeling an actual connection to the other people there (except for maybe Jax). Previously, Pomni felt that she was alone in a place of pure chaos where she could die and be forgotten at a moments notice, since everyone seemed to treat Kaufmo's death so casually.
But when she sees how everyone acts at the funeral, she realizes that they all genuinely cared for their lost friend, and she won't be just discarded and forgotten on a whim.
Today, I learned or was reminded that Alicia is also Canadian. I agree stealing our maple syrup is a crime most horrendous.
the hands grabbingpomni's hands at the end were the hands of everyone at the funeral (minus jax who didn't attend). It's meant to show that now she feels like maybe she can be friends with these people and she doesnt have to fear being abandoned by them at her lowest point.
I love how this can go from 0 being all happy and cheerful looks to 100 and being Dark AF with reality questioning.
I didn’t realize till now, but Jax’s VA is Angel Dust’s pilot VA, just in his normal range!
Every time I watch the funeral scene I just start crying. It's such a beautifully done moment.
I don’t know why but when Kinger threw something for Pomni and it bounced off her head and she went “Eugh” cracks me up everytime
So... I just had a thought. Caine said "an AI", meaning a single AI controlled every character... Would that mean that the effects on Gummigoo can have an effect on the entire AI? Is... The AI going to be a character? I mean... We've got one AI character in Caine... Maybe this is how we get an Abel?
crazy how none of them had one thought of eating at least one piece of candy
i'd be chugging that fudge like crazy
Gooseworks telling everyone that this show is NOT existential horror comedy was the most transparent trick ever played.
16:00 some games have an inaccessible place where all models to be used in a map get stored. An example would a Bethesda dev room. Gater boy is seeing his own “ped”.
it was nice to see how they all cared for their fallen friends. and also how pomni realised that her nightmare about being forgotten would never happen, as she saw them remember their friend.
Though it feels like a bit of an missed opportunity with not hearing what they thought of their friend, I think it would been much more emotional if we heard their thoughts also.
It is astounding how much the fandom loves Jax despite him having no redeemable qualities.
The guy being an absolute sociopath with basically only antisocial behaviour:
"God, so relatable
I mean... so does the show's creator. She specifically designed him to appeal to her own tastes.
"I am the great mighty poo, and I'm going to throw my shit at you"
Since gummigoo is an npc its clear that he will lose his memory. Think about it, the other characters have been stuck in the circus for years so they've probably seen the candy canyon kingdom dozens of times
Love when reactors stay on top of things, when something new comes out I immediately start checking my favorite reactors and it usually takes days or weeks for them to catch up to current thing. Love these so much
23:15 - The term you’re looking for is ‘villain of the week’. Characters who show up, get beaten and never appear again.
Caine vaporizing Gumigoo gave exactly the same vibe as what Jerry did in Rick and Morty's Vat of Acid episode. You knew it was bound to happen somehow, but it doesn't piss you off any less
This series so far has exactly matched my sense of humor, watched this ep with my friends when it premiered and when Pomni mentioned bringing him back I immediately paused it and told my friends “yeah and then when they get back, just as casually as possible Caine is just gonna go “hey you’re not supposed to be here!” And just delete him” and it went exactly like I guessed, I get the feeling it’s only gonna get better from here on out.
The hands earlier were a callback to the beginning of the episode. Pomni was afraid that if she abstracts, no one would remember her. those hands were catching Pomni, signifying Her insecurities being lifted.
Something I love about that last bit, where Pomni is saved, is that you can see the hands of every member of the Circus, saving her. Every member, except Jax. The others all care for one another and, therefore, for Pomni, but Jax doesn't give a single crap about any of them. Gooseworx herself has even said of everyone, Jax is the one who actually *deserves* to be trapped in the Circus.
The ending with the hands grabbing Pomni's is meant to represent her realizing that she's not alone, as she thought at the beginning in the episode. At the start of the episode, she thought that she was absolutely alone in this world, that if she were to die, nobody would care. But upon realizing that the gang would likely mourn her just as much, that they do care, that she would have support no matter what, it changes the nightmare.
"WHO'S THE MASTER OF UNLOCKING THINGS NOW!?" - Barry Resident Evil
I had a very bad feeling Gumigoo wasn't gonna make it...damn this show, man. And that ending too, just an emotional rollercoaster.
At the beginning of the episode, Pomni's nightmare shows her falling into the abstracted character pit and the other characters not caring about it. At the end, she sees how much they care for Kaufmo as opposed to Gummigoo who the circus characters treat purely as an npc except Pomni. The hands reaching out catch Pomni at the end are the other circus characters, who she now understands do care for her after seeing how much they cared about Kaufmo.
Pomni told Gummigoo that he matters because his friends care about him and vice versa. This is her realizing that the same is true for her.
Also, the beginning foreshadowed the collision glitch right at the begining when Pomni falls out of bed onto a block, starts glitching and gets shot upwards. Didn't notice til the second watch.
I’d say having this Episode take place just the Day after the Pilot is pretty fair,
since, assuming that they do Adventures every Day, this would be Pomni’s Actual First Adventure, since she didn’t actually partake in the one meant for her when she first arrived, even though like i said she was only part of it halfway,
Also, it also made the Funeral Scene at the end feel more fitting, by the way about that Scene, I find it very interesting that Jax ended up not being part of the Funeral and who he was not featured amongst the Hands that prevented Pomni’s Metaphorical Fall, now that part could just be due to him not being part of the Funeral, but considering what the Curators has said about Jax, i think it’s a detail that’s worth keeping in mind for the Future.
Anyway, with all of that now being out of the way, i am now left wondering:
Will every Episode take place just the Day after the Previous One or could we expect Episodes to have at least a couple of Days in between them from now on?
Will Pomni get out of the Adventure and into some kind of Out of bounds moment every Episode? If so, while that would be interesting, I would appreciate to see at least one Episode where Pomni stays in the Adventure all the way through, because I don’t think we need a Out-of-Bounds Moment every time to make a Episode worthwhile.
On to of that, will Pomni bond with more NPCs in one way or another and will she end up having them learn something about themselves too?
I also wonder if we’ll ever get to see Loo and Gummigoo again? Now, I am aware that the Candy Canyon Kingdom was probably just meant to be for this Episode, hence why it was sent off the way it did, still I would like to see some kind of Aftermath to what Jax did.
Also, i wonder if we’ll ever get to a point in time where Pomni won’t stutter all the time or at least not when it counts? If so, i will look forward to see what might lead us there.
Anyway, regardless of it all, this Episode has made me even more excited to see how this Show will play out, I can’t wait for more Episodes.
33:22 this part right here is her realizing she will never be forgotten, which is very sweet and I love it!
I'm pretty sure the bit with the gator doing poses while being dragged along on the rope was a Pizza Tower reference. There's a button that makes the player character pose, which is also how you parry. Doesn't look like Alicia has played Pizza Tower, put it on the let's play suggestion list.
What's even more messed up is that Gummigoo's deletion effected Pomni enough that she would later put a picture of him beside Kaufmo. This is seen in a canon image released by GLITCH in a community post thanking the audience for 50 million views in the 4 days of the episodes release.
The bandit's posing is a Pizza Tower reference! I just got it on this rewatch.
I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS AND NO WHERE TO PUT THEM SO HERE YA GO.
I loved the main theme of the episode being that not only is Pomni afraid of abstraction, but she's afraid that no one would care if she 'died', and that'd mean that she meant nothing to any of these people. BECAUSE in the first episode, not only when Kaufmo abstracted, but also when Zooble was literally torn to pieces by the gloinks, the other characters sort of joked about it and didn't really take it seriously (the only one who did was Gangle, and even Ragatha didn't say anything about Zooble being taken). We know now that's because Zooble wasn't actually in danger, since they don't technically 'die', but since it was day one for Pomni, it came off as if no one actually cared about each other on a deep level. That her nightmare would literally be how they'd feel if she 'died', since no one but Zooble and Kinger said anything about being upset by Kaufmo's abstraction. The funeral showed her that no, actually everyone does care to some degree and would be sad if she abstracted, meaning she'd mean something to these people in the end. BUT BUT BUT, on the same train of thought, the most interesting part of this episode for me was Zooble. Firstly, she clearly hates or resents Caine in some way. She doesn't just hate the adventures, but immediately rejected the adventure once Caine mentioned there were NPC's involved. He tried to be like 'but they're super immersive!' but she wasn't having it. This episode told us that Zooble cares a lot about the members of the circus, and about life/other people in general while Caine doesn't value the NPC's at all, because why would he? Her also waiting for Caine to leave and for everyone to get back for the funeral also showed something intriguing. She doesn't like that Caine is (almost) constantly watching over them. She wasn't just waiting for everyone to attend the funeral, but to hold it specifically when Caine wouldn't be there.
I will conclude this with a theory I now have. What if Zooble is actually an NPC? Here's some possible evidence: She does not like Caine. She cares about everyone in a very meaningful way, and goes out of her way for them (in her own way). She refuses to be involved in the adventures PERHAPS because she knows just how meaningless they are. Her design is, by far the most 'inhuman' design, and the strangest. And finally, that Caine suggests that there's actually a chance he could've mixed up the players and NPCs in the past. Though I think that could also just be a fake out, or just another element to add to the psychological horror of the show. My theory could be very wrong. I hope someone enjoyed reading this mess.
