- Filter needed to be added onto the reaction since crunchy roll is now has the distribution rights for seasons. Rooster Teeth also took it off of youtube. It ain't like the old days. ALSO oh my gosh I uploaded my reactions on my patreon normally I don't post AXD stuff on there but this series is an exception / aliciaxlife ! Thanks for watching WELCOME TO BEACON!! | RWBY Reaction.

Guys, please stop telling her to abandon the show. She's seen all but the last season so she is clearly in this for the long haul and it isn't fair to her friend so you can have the basic decency to let him enjoy what he can and wants to. Things are rarely ruined by the way it ends except relationships and even *that* is _usually_ done by choice.
^ this, plus they're already in Vol 5 on patreon
Someone with common decency finally! Idk why people make their mission to try and ruin it for new people just because they didn’t like the direction.
@@neofulcrum5013I think it some mixture of them not liking it and expecting others to also not like it solely because of that fact, so when they see someone reacting to it they want to "spare" them the horrible fate of watching the show. I don't really get it, that's just my best guess.
@@SebasTian58323 On the other hand there's also the fact that it may never be finished, there's that too. What with the people who made it being shut down and all. Although, wasn't there some guy looking to buy the contract for the show?
THANK YOU!👏 Let her and her friend form their own opinions on it!
After the passing of Monty Oum, the voicing of Lie Ren was picked up by Neath Oum, Monty's brother. I think it was the perfect choice.
Neath has done a fantastic job voicing Ren
No one. Is. Replaceable!
Shout out to Monty and Neath!
What I really loved about Monty he said all these characters were design so people would be able to cosplay them easier
Yup and he also said that he made sure the characters suits were made with extra pockets for the Cosplayer convince
Too bad the same can't be said of the weapons. 😝
@@Xeromm yup, especially if you're trying to make them tranform or morph
@@Xeromm well Jaune’s weapon kinda lol
@@Arvyn992
You know there are people who will go above and beyond to make it transform, XD
People always forget, if Juane's shield is solid steel, you're looking at 50 POUNDS, at LEAST, that he's wearing on his non-dominant arm like it's nothing. He may be a goof who doesn't look it, but the boy is a UNIT.
and that only becomes more and more true lol
He also a farm boy them farm boys built like brick
Oh yeah and he hasn't even mastered aura yet!
People do need to put respect on my man's name sometimes 😉😆
That's kinda just because every human in the RWBY world is by default stronger than humans from the real world, you see people even without aura shrugging off crazy shit.

“Remnant of what?”
Damn he’s asking real questions already
“Of a forgotten past.” - stated in first episode.
My favourite thing about RWBY is watching the budget and experience level of the animators grow in real time season over season. It starts on a shoestring budget with like two animators and a handful of voice actors, with all the time and effort put into the fight scenes and every in-between scene just serviceable enough to ferry you to the next setpiece, and over time it grows into one of the most visually stunning series in existence as they gain more resources to dedicate to things other than fight choreography and music.
"One of the most visually stunning series in existence" When compared to indie cgi films
@@younot593 When compared to any modern 3D CGI show. I mean, we're not counting high-budget anime here, cause Madhouse makes everything look cheap, but if you put late-volume RWBY side by side with any CGI series produced in the west, it looks ridiculously good.
And, many of the early voice actors were office staff grabbed and stuck in front of a microphone and handed a script.
26:53 "You better develop some fucking character soon"
I mean...it takes a while...but let him cook. You'll grow to love him.
And the character development will hit him....HARD...and again....and again.....and -
You get my point
... are you talking about something else? All character development in rwby is a character just changing cuz the writers said so, like when Weiss just stopped bein racist for no reason
@@sleepyash6839I thought Weiss stopped because of the Blake ran away arc, although I would agree with you that it would have been better if there were still some embers of it with Blake nudging Weiss whenever she does it
@@Jo_easyimagine if she commented in season two on where all the black people in the background went as a blooper and everyone just stops
@@sleepyash6839 What do you mean no reason?
Someone, who she was starting to become friends with and care for, challenged what Weiss thought... Possibly another reason is that Weiss is also trying to be the best teammate after her previous issues with Ruby and discussing things with professor Port... It's somewhat of a supercut of the development, very condensed, and not necessarily super well done, but it's not happening for no reason at all... And we've also had hints that Weiss isn't totally beyond reason... In fact, while she can be headstrong in her beliefs, she's shown that she can take on criticism and, given a little time, can take that on board and re-evaluate her position... She had already been through that arc with Ruby... Again, kinda rushed, not super well done, but we'd seen hints of her being able to come around to Ruby in the initiation as well...
I can see why you might have trouble seeing it, but I have to disagree with you that they just change things for no reason (well not super often anyway)... The heel turn in volume 7 and 8 I saw coming as being foreshadowed from volume 2, by the type of character they were... BMBLB does kinda make sense with various things in hindsight, although I do think it was handled too subtly and gave too many hints to the contrary and didn't entirely develop very naturally to me, but I think I can see what they were trying to do enough that I can conclude that it possibly even goes back to this volume in the set up... Not executing things well doesn't have to mean that there was no logic behind it or hints or whatever.
14:07 OMG I REMEMBER THAT! Yeah watching RWBY and Roosterteeth in general grow and find their footing was wild! They came a long way from bobbing heads in Blood Gulch.
These episodes have some of the most iconics lines : "It's also a gun", Yang weirdly flirting "I like your bow ! It goes well with your ..pajama!"
yang's flirting don't get any better in 8 more volumes neither x3
It ain't flirting. It's just a classic awkward attempt at small talk you see in any piece of media with an extrovert and a character who doesn't want to talk interacting.
@@nevvy5310especially trying to get her socially awkward sister to interact with an introvert
This is when I used to love the show, I feel like the comedy was way better in the earlier seasons.
Man, I almost forgot how quickly Pyrrha said "This is my man now."
The VA that takes over after montys death is actually montys brother
With Rooster Teeth going under the fanbase was worried but they said they have new partner looking into it and it looks promising. In a live stream they said they would keep the current writers as well but that's all we know and all they were allowed to tell us.
its not a "have" yet. they have been working with them to get a deal and they have been working on it for awhile. it makes me wonder why it isnt complete yet. but like all deals i also can fall through. my only concern is its crunchyroll and i dont have alot of faith in their production abilities.
@@zerodawn09 Unless Dillon Goo buys the rights to the show I doubt RWBY will ever regain its former glory.
@@robno1033 oh yea there is to much off script i would say to bring it all the way back. they can give it a ok end but they could also give it the gen:lock end (that was super sh*t) or they can just leave it. from my understanding is it still sells merch and thats kinda big for a few so i think it will get a end. i do hope they take time off and then reboot it (let ice queendom be its own thing). the only question is who in the west can do good writing cause as of right now i dont see anyone doing it well. nothing will bring back what we felt in volume one and two but it should get a good send off. monty deserves it and thats why i get pissed at hater that think somehow they are honoring monty by sh*tting all over it. if you dont like it fine move on but doing what many do is not honoring its dishonor. say RT screwed it up but make criticism not blind hate.
Class is in session.
I just remembered that in these early days Yang's jiggle physics almost rival Alicia's.
Monty spent some extra time on that aspect

RWBY is actually really good on rewatch as you get to appreciate all the foreshadowing they did.

Yep.🙄😒 But let’s focus on the positive fans and not let the haters get us down!😎👍
Bro half the time most of the haters are fans themselves it’s kinda wild. The fdm has always been in disarray but it just got so bad over the years
Love and hate are too sides of a coin. People who really loved rwby and who are not blinded by obsession now see how awful written the show has gotten. Also the fast decline of rooster teeths popularity played a huge factor. Which led to the massive decay of people liking the show.
@@trellyv8826 lmao be wrong
@@Rawrmuffin0 Eh, what I’ve noticed is that a LOT of said haters claim to be fans but only spend their time dunking on the series without mentioning or paying attention to any of the genuinely good qualities.

Sadly his VA passed away, iirc the VA is Loona's VA (Erica Lindbeck) fiancé

@@ishuikamakura272 Yes, his original VA was Gray Haddock.
I wanna just say that i want you all to pay attention to names and inspirations, almost every single character in this show is inspired by fairytales and myths, take ruby and yang for example, they are base on little red riding hood and Goldilocks respectively, hence why yellow trailer has a guy named Jr running a bar with D34D Bear instead of mouse.
this is mainly because i wanna see you guys try and see what the inspiration is, since its fun to see you guys think
This is one of my favourite parts of the show, I love mythology in general so it is cool to see those things. Although I kinda wish it lasted long enough to see how Jaune would end up with the whole Joan of Arc thing being betrayed and burned alive thing.
isnt tat the thing that heppened in the forest and jam epsiode, since cardin found out his secret and blackmailed him, wasnt that his whole joan story
@@jamesorozco8480 I wouldn't say so, or if it was meant to be, it was an extremely loose connection. I'd frankly be disappointed if that was the intention.
Obviously, I have no way of knowing how much you know about the original story but it's rather interesting. I was somewhat looking forward to something more in that aspect of Jaune. But perhaps I was expecting too much out of the writers as it were. After other connections were done so well.
guessing right now, her favorite character is probably Penny.
I’m calling Cinder.🔥
(EDIT: I missed that this was already addressed in the video description...rip the old days)
For what it's worth, Roosterteeth used to be very good about copyright claims when it comes to RWBY reactions. To the point where almost every reaction on youtube is full and un-edited.
Now that the company itself is shut down, copyright claims might become more of a problem (thanks HBO...).
Yeah, RT told reactors something along the lines of "Give it like 24 hours before you post, and if there's a strike, contact us and we'll remove it as fast as we can".
Man,I'm glad to see someone else so excited about this show. I love it so much.
Alicia this was NOT expected in any fucking way but I will gladly follow you. 😂
Happy to see such a long video!
Fun fact: Volume 1 was originally planned to only be a 4 episode mini-series about Team RWBY forming in the Emerald Forest, but the positive reception of the 4 character trailers extended it to the full volume.
Also i heavily disagree with what a few of the comments are as saying here about the quality of this show being bad. I've watched every episode of the show, and I always enjoyed the series.
While Remnant has many similarities to the real world, there are some differences between them. One example would be that pinatas don't exist in Remnant.
Having watched the show all the way through, it had some pretty interesting moments and a fun world to explore. But I have to half agree that there was some serious quality issues with both the writing and the animation, especially early on and near the end. Things that should have been explored, poorly written characters, dropped plot points that had been built up, things so poorly explained or absent you had to watch a separate short series for context ect ect etc. It's not a dumpster fire by any means, fun enough show, but it had some serious quality issues over the length of the series. Just because we enjoyed the series doesn't mean we should be blind to its many flaws.
Hopefully, someone picks it up and improves upon the original series formula. It would be sad if it just died off and faded into obscurity.
@@sinbotosimmons7624 I don't really agree, because when I watched the show, everything seemed pretty well explained, and I never had a moment where I thought "that's just bad writing". Maybe I just have a different standard of what qualifies as bad writing or poorly thought out than others, because the most I can say I was disappointed by happened in volume 3. Animation has to be truly atrocious for me to even pick up on it being bad while I'm watching, so I can't say anything past the first volume ever seemed truly awful except for one infamous scene in volume 2. I'm just not good at analytics animation, and so I just pay attention to animated shows art styles, and I love RWBY's. Even when people explain specific issues they have with the plot of RWBY, its not anything I actually have a problem with, either because I don't think it's bad or because its something so minor that it's not really worth caring about to me. Im generally not a hard guy to please in regards to shows, so something has to actually be terrible for me to consider it to be bad most of the time.
@@SebasTian58323 There's the difference between personal interest/taste and objective interest. What you are describing is your personal interest and subjective taste. What I am (trying to, perhaps poorly.) do is speak on the objective quality of the show. You may disagree, as is your want, but it doesn't make the flaws suddenly not be there. Nor does it mean people don't have the right to point them out.
I kinda feel like this may devolve into an argument, just me pointing out every flaw all day, that's not what I want out of this as it were. Not looking to tell you not to enjoy the show, enjoy away, I do!
I enjoyed the series, but it had serious problems. All over the place and a lot of them were writing or worldbuilding related. I enjoyed them despite those problems not because they were not there. There were a TON of flaws, some minor some major, some people don't pick up on them, care, or perhaps don't look deep enough to see them. That is fine, not everyone is interested in doing so, but they were there and there were many of them.
Loved hearing them sing along to the opening because I'm sure that's exactly what I sound like when I sing along to the openings of shows I watch
Watching and hearing the pure joy you both have, one knowing and the other discovering, it's so nice !!
Yes I’m a new sub as of yesterday and this just sealed the deal

YAY! I LOVE RWBY!!!
I think the silhouette characters are a pretty awesome stylistic choice. It's even used as a joke a couple times.
To think Jen Taylor (Cortana) voices the Narrator.
Voice so soothing yet ominous.
JUANE IS BEST BOI !!
Totally relate to having Nora as one of my favorite RWBY characters
When I first watched RWBY I had to check to see who voiced the reporter, Lisa Lavender, because she sounds like Alex Borstien voicing Asian Correspondant, Tricia Takanawa from Family Guy!
Wow, if we watch this many episodes all at once, once a day, we'll be done with RWBY in a month.
on patreon they're already on volume 5
The subtitles misspelled Ozpin's name as Aspen.😅
"Remnant of what?"
ohohoho, wouldn't you like to know...
HELL YEAH I CANT WAIT FOR THIS
I was absolutely in love with Monty Oum's early work like Haloid (he animated a badass fight between Master Chief and Samus Aran) and then did a multi-part short series called Dead Fantasy ( Final Fantasy Girls vs the Dead or Alive girls). When I found out Rooster Teeth hired him on so he could work on his passion project, I was beyond elated. Seeing you two geek over this warms my heart 💙
Ren was actually voiced by his brother! He took over after monty passed
ahh the series that started my fanfictions
Fun fact: Ren's new voice actor is Monty's brother.
Need to mention back when this came out all those songs were sung by a 14-15 yr old girl and her dad was the composer I believe
_RWBY: Grimm Eclipse_ started as a fan project, but then RT took it over. They have some costumes, including the pajamas, but they're paid, unfortunately. Anyway, it's a simple slashy-slashy game, but some of the characters are fun to play as. You have Team RWBY and Team JNPR. Jaune is the only one without a gun to fire, and Pyrrha can do a shield bounce. Nora... yeah, she's fun. Lots of grenades.
At 26:48
Everyone: Now, We wait..
It’s a surprise but a good one to see rwby
This is my first exposure to RWBY and I’m enjoying it so far
The hidden theme behind the characters that escape some people, is that while Ruby and the main three are grim tales, Jaune and his future team are a nod to historical and mythical heroes that have crossdressed.
Jaune, Joan of Arc
Pyrrha, Achilles
Nora, Thor
Wren, Mulan
You know, despite how humble the beginnings were, there was always a certain charm to RWBY's animation even back then, and IMO a great example is how much extra little details there are in scenes like the shopkeep being held up. Before the goons start pulling guns and it's not clear it's a robbery, the shopkeep looks pissed off at Roman getting cigar ash on his countertop. When Roman says "Crystals," the shopkeep reaches for the green ones at first, then changes when Roman clarifies "Burn. Uncut" a second later. Later on, when Blake picks up Weiss's dropped bottle, the label isn't conveniently facing her, she actually has to turn it over in her hand a bit to see it. A lot of animation - both 2D and 3D - doesn't bother with little touches like that.
Leaving this comment to say hope that you enjoy the show, and solely have your own opinion going in, because it’s a blast
i love this mans reaction to glynda and cinder in the first episode
God the hindsight in this show.
to this day im a ride or die for Juane, especially vol 9
The early seasons of RWBY were so good. There was something about the ameteur production that made Monty's animation look even more impressive
- One of the things I've always liked about Ep 1 is that Ruby is careful to only hit the goons with the blunt side of her scythe, not the blade (she doesn't want to kill them)
- Roman is such a sarcastic shit. 😄
- Ruby is a cookie monster.
- yeah, Volume 1 was bare bones budget, any character that didn't speak was just a silouette. By Vol 2 the budget had increased and no more shadow people.
- first ep of each volume is always a cold opening with the new opening not playing til the end.
- 9 volumes have been released (vol 9 was delayed a year IIRC). I haven't seen Vols 8 or 9 yet myself.
- Most people have names for their weapons. Ruby has Crescent Rose, Weiss has Myrtenmaster, Blake's is Gambol Shroud, and Yang's gauntlets are named Ember Celica
- Jaunne, French for yellow.
- Nora's voice actress is named Samantha Ireland.
Surprised she didn’t mention the Narrator for the Opening is the VA for Cortana from Halo.
Can we just talk about the amount of core strength ruby has like yea ik she can lift and throw around a scythe sniper twice her size but at like 5:33 when she does that spin kick ik he core FELT THAT
This will be the day we've waited for
This will be the day we open up the door…
Even now, with all the awesome OSTs, that one is always my favorite.
My favorite note in relation to dust, is that, to make sure that the animators understood how it should work, the crew had them design and model a genuine dust based engine. And then they never showed it in the show.
Nah, Weiss doing a 180 after seeing John is crazy. Ruby is great, I love her

Small note I had never seen the show only watched clips from the fights. 29:42 after watching season 9 this is very fun to come back to😊
I really do love how some of the music in this show is diegetic. Diegetic music is one of my absolute favorite things.
Especially when people have fun with it, like the opening sequence to Puss in Boots: the Last Wish.
I liked the black silhouettes for the extras. I thought they were a stylistic choice at first. Imagine my disappointment when I learned that wasn’t the case.
The voice actor who takes over voicing Renn from Monty is Neith, Month's brother.
Your friend made the joke about Oz and Welt, but honestly, I genuinely believe HoYo takes some inspiration from RWBY. Also, does he know that Blake's VA (Arryn) is the voice of Black Swan?
Damn, them closed captions doing people dirty, Ozipin getting Aspen 🤣

The Grimm Variations goes hard
My top two favorite episodes are Cinderella and Red Riding Hood
Jaun's name and character is a reference to one of the saints of christianity: Joan of Arc
Gosh, early RWBY is so charming!
I love how people forget that Ruby was 15 when she entered beacon.
First, the music is epic for this series. Jeff Williams, and in Volume 9, his daughter Casey Lee Williams, are GOATed.
Second, Introduction to my favorite character! I love Jaune! He's such a dork! (And, also, my favorite ship. Yes, Lancaster may not be the best, but is MY favorite.)
Third, yeah, there's definitely some jank when it comes to the animation. Especially Volume 1. But to be fair, it was animated entirely by 4 or 5 people, I think. Including Monty himself. There's always jank with this series, or at least from what I could see during the first six or so Volume. I choose to look at it fondly.
I agree with you Alicia. Nora is adorable. I can't say that she my favorite among the girls, though, but she is definitely in the Top Ten. Pyrrha is waifu material. And, is definitely the Best Girl of Volume 1.
Also, definitely read Some fanfiction for Arkos. They can be pretty good. Same for many other the other ships. You just have wade through the filth (And, I mean that for both for the ones that just straight lemons ,and the one's that aren't written very well. )
(Just read the comment below) Also, YOU haters! Stop trying to make someone stop watching something that they clearly like. RWBY is awesome! And, always has been! Always! Get over yourselves. Period.
Enjoy the re-watch, hope copyright claims don't become a problem because there's no RT Social Team left on the job to resolve them anymore....
when you paused here it looks like Nora has some, devious thoughts right now while looking at Ren...
hope yall do a reaction to the seasons ost when you finish a volume bec they're such bops
