So, both GM & Ford make their max torque @ same 3,000 rpm. GM makes 30 ft-lb more torque than Ford. Torque, not horse is needed in towing. So, why does the Chevy (or GMC) "just does not pull as well" w/ 30 more ft-lb of torque? That does not compute.
I've spent a lot of time on non towing, rural highway road trips with both trucks. Chevy MPG 18 on regular 19 on 93. Ford MPG 21 on regular or premium. Most of the time the Chevy's 4 cylinder noise does not intrude as it is quiet, smooth and unnoticed. But there are times when I wished for some other engine as it would vibrate in 2 cylinder mode at exactly 55mph, and sound like the 4 cylinder it is when pushed hard. The Ford feels and sounds refined in normal mode and like a well tuned sports car in 'sport' mode, very pleasant 100% of the time. Despite the very similar specs, the Ford is significantly faster and more powerful.
To get the same level of performance in the Chevy that you get with the Ford 2.7 EB, you’d have to step up to the 6.2 V8 and get 16mpg if you’re lucky. The Chevys are good looking trucks but they just don’t compete with the Ford.

The GM's just look better at the end of the day.
3.5 TT Ecoboost has been a reliable engine for me. However i think Ram finally figured it out and got rid of the outdated and underpowered 5.7L hemi. The Hurricane may be smoother with the inline 6.
Pick your poison....myself I've driven and owned a 2.7 Ecoboost, excellent all around engine.Im sure the Chevy is decent too
I like the looks, sound and performance in the ford better. Also, were both 4wd?
The chevy looks 2wd no 4x4 sticker
No question, the Ford is much better. The 2.7 ecoboost is the most reliable one in the ecoboost line up, and the 10 speed is much more reliable and more efficient than the 8 speed in the chevy. These Chevy 2.7 fours also burn oil and sounds like a hummingbird fart ,and the gm 8 speed has had a LOT of issues. The only people who are buying these Chevys' are ones looking for the cheapest truck or blind brand loyalists who would buy a chevy even if it is a proven dumpster fire.
Chevy COULD have had a much better option in a smaller displacement turbo 3.6 variant and the 10 speed but they chose what they did.
2.7 EB all day. Have it in my Bronco and love it. No replacement for displacement. Nice video. 😎
They both have the same displacement. 😂😂😂
Uh huh😂🤦🏻♂️ I have the 2.7 Chevy, I’ll take that any day over a ford. I’ve had nothing but issues with every ford in my company. Would never buy one personally
2.7 turbo max!
You should test it in eco mode.. for even more fuel efficiency
Ford interior is years ahead of Chevy. Exterior is nicer too. Overall ford is way better .
Would like to see comparisons of the two 2.7 with there v8 options fuel economy and power comparisons
Hi Ben I love watching your vids!!
Ty
They are selling those STX f150's for $36,000 in Texas now.
The Chevy sounds like a Honda Civic.💪🏼
😂
I would get the Ford 2.7L l. Much nicer engine and interior
The tale of 2.7's!
No comparison…
Ford all day
Now who buys a CHEVROLET and it a 4CYLINDER huh?
fleet maybe?
The same people that buy an F-150 with the naturally aspirated 3.3 V6. That's what the GM 2.7L is meant to compete against.
@@karlschauff7989 The 3.3 is discontinued! The 2.7 is the base engine. What are you a GM salesman or something?
@@karlschauff7989GM 2.7 turbomax (w/ 5 yr 100,000 mile warranty) makes 310 horse / 430 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. Ford 2.7 ecoboost 325 horse / 410 ft-lb torque @ 4250 rpm. The Ford 3.3 produced 290 horse / w/ a measly non tow rated 265 ft-lb torque. Gotta use data to back the b.s.
Wanted more torque than 5.3 V8 and 2.7 Ecoboost. 2.7 I-4 dual volute Turbomax (w/ 5 yr 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty) makes 310 horse / 430 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. GM 5.3 V-8 makes 355 horse / 383 ft-lb torque @ 4,100 rpm. Ford 2.7 V-6 Ecoboost makes 325 horse / 400 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. The old Ford 3.3 was truly a slug - 290 horse / with disappointing 265 ft-lb torque @ 4,000 rpm, absolutely no competition to the turbomax. Glad 3.3 discontinued. Same w/ Ram 3.6 V-6 = 305 horse / 269 ft-lb torque @ 4,800 rpm.
Small motors and BIG prices. No thanks.
A moped has more rumble than the Chevy. 🤦🏻♂️
Keep in mind too, Chevy 2.7 will always have that crappy 8 speed trans Ford uses the 10 speed
Probably worst gas mileage in the Chevy cause it’s working harder
those are short boxes....standard is 6'6"
GM's 2.7 is really meant to compete against Ford's 3.3 V6. That's why it replaced the 4.3 V6 that was previous the base engine in fleet trims. The 2.7 EB is a more powerful engine and will normally be cross-shopped with the 5.3. Even with the downsides of the oil pump belt behind the timing chains, plastic oil pan, and the EGR cooler, I would pick the 2.7 EB over the lower output GM 2.7T.
GMs uses an egr cooler on the 2.7 as well
Ford doesn't put the 3.3 engine in the F-150 anymore. The 2.7 is the base engine.
GM Turbomax 310 horse / 430 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. Ecoboost 325 horse / 400 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. Very comparable. GM 30 ft-lb more torque, but 15 less horse. Ford 3.3 was an absolute slug - 290 horse, but a terrible naturally aspirated 265 ft-lb torque @ 4,000 rpm. Shitty tow rating, doesn't even compete w/ turbomax.
@@redd7188 But it was when the 2.7T became the base engine. The 3.3 was the base engine until 2024. GM doesn't change engines every single year the way Ford does.
@@jmc6000 I don't see any reference to an EGR or EGR cooler in any documentation on the engine. I also don't see any parts, OEM or aftermarket, for an EGR valve or EGR cooler for the GM 2.7.
Ford 2.7 v6
The Chevy is horrible, I can't even find a reason to pick it. Are they do for an update anytime soon?
When you can’t afford the Ford you buy the Chevy
🤡
You guys don't have a clue about f150's
They suck in a wreck
Ask me how I know
Personal experience
Only a liberal would take a 4cyl in a full size pickup truck! 🤣
A limp wristed liberal
Ford won tis one but ram is better than ford hurricane
Thar hurricane is a junk engine
The hurricane is the Ram engine. Not Ford. Ford is the Ecoboost
Same displacement but only one turbocharger. THATS the difference
Ford 2.7 twin turbo V-6= 325 horse / 410 ft-lb torque @ 4,250 rpm. GM 2.7 dual volute turbo I-4= 310 horse / 430 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. Very comparable. One has 5 yr 100,000 drivetrain warranty.
correction - both make peak torque @ 3,000 rpm. GM 430 ft-lb. Ford - 400 ft-lb. That's the difference. Pay no attention number of cylinders or turbos. Dual volute turbomax makes the most torque numbers.
Camera angles were kind of annoying with this video.
The Chevy Custom kind of looks like a 2016 Raptor, a cheap one anyway. Come on Chevy, be better.
The Chevy sounds terrible, especially at startup.
The 2.7 chevy engine is not supposed to compete with 2.7 ecoboost as the chevy engine was a replacement for the base 4.3 v6. 2.7 ecoboost is comparable to the chevy 5.3.
the 2.7 is Ford's base engine. What do you want Ben Hardy to do?
GM Turbomax 310 horse/430 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. Ecoboost 325 horse / 400 ft-lb torque @ 3,000 rpm. The old 4.3 GM (285 horse / 305 ft-lb torque @ 3900 rpm) & Ford 3.3 (290 horse/265 ft-lb torque @ 4,000 rpm) were competitors. While numbers prove comparison, may as well list GM 5.3 - 355 horse / 383 ft-lb torque @ 4,100 rpm. Believe want you want, but facts/data are undisputable.
Why are you always struggling to get the trucks out of their parking sport? Why don't ya park em different or go the other way man? LOL
When you can’t afford a Ford, you buy a Chevy
🤡
Neither! Like ever. 4 cylinder? Common Chevy.
Who like the ford should buy a ford pickup. Who's like the Chevrolet should buy the Chevrolet pickup
*Twin Turbo
What is up with that steering wheel on the ford? Is that made out of plastic or something? It looks TERRIBLE.
Chevy interior is trash but exterior is very nice
I love Chevy they need to upgrade their interior for the Turbo Max. I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Ford!
Chevy sounds like a rice burner
Chevrolet silverado hands down
