i like it when people complain about filling up a 36 gallon tank. it costs the exact same amount monthly filling up that tank once or twice, vs filling up a 20 gallon tank 3 or 4 times lol! I'd rather have a huge tank and 700-800 miles of driving non-stop and get where i'm going. which is why i'm really considering a 60 gallon on my super duty!

I drive a 2021 Toyota Tundra and it has a 38 gallon fuel tank. It is such a huge blessing! The fact I can go over 600 miles on a tank without filling up makes my somewhat regular road trips much more manageable because I do not have to stop usually in-between stops for work. Not only that, when I am towing 7,000-8,000 lbs and I am only getting 10-11 mpg, I do not have to stop every two hours to refuel like I had to with my F-150 ecoboost because it has the gas tank size of a 65 year old woman's bladder! Trust me the bigger the better when it comes to fuel tanks.
You wouldn't even notice the extra weight, and if you really care, just don't fully fill the 36 gallon tank. However, the fact that the Silverado 1500 doesnt even have an option for a larger tank makes it immediately useless to me. There are places I tow my travel trailer where I physically could not get to and back out with a 24 gallon tank. When you are towing into a bad headwind getting 7 mpg, that 24 gallon tank is a serious problem. It has an actual towing range of
So my dumbass bought a 23 tundra with the self grenading engine feature. Tundra sucked but i sold it before the recall. I was looking at the Tremor, the Rebel, and the ZR2. I couldn't find a Tremor with an 8 cy. The rebel financing was outrageous and Ram got rid of the Hemi! The ZR2 had the 8 cylinder and 1.9% financing. First chevy truck I've owned in 20 years. So far so good - if i don't drive like an idiot I'm getting high teens even 20 mpg. Ram has the best interior, I prefer the Coyote 5.0 and the F150 interior, but the ZR2 was the best option available. So far, I love it.
My wife’s uncle just bought a used tundra new body with the grenade engine he told me he got a “real good” deal on it since they had 6 other used ones on the lot I told him about the engine and he didn’t believe me we will see what happens in a few months 😂 them having 6 used ones in the lot should have been a red flag
For most of my life I have been pretty pro-Toyota (even growing up in west Texas). I ordered a 23 Tremor Coyote Gen 3 last February and it took about a month to get it. I easily get about 20 mpg combined if I stay out of sport mode. I didn't buy a Toyota this time because they dropped the V8 and recovery hooks (and I don't like the huge grill). I didn't buy a GM because we had horrible luck with a 2018 half ton, even though I thought the truck's looks were solid. I sold my 2013 Rock Warrior Tundra to our company for a work truck when I bought the Tremor. It has been the best (and oldest) truck in the local fleet since then (we work in the four corners where O&G work sites are generally not friendly to get to). I still have an 02 Taco TRD that needs a new slave cylinder for the clutch after 200k miles (one of the few trucks that has never left me stranded). I've owned a lot of trucks (many Toyotas, Fords, and GMs), but the thought of potentially getting rid of that Taco bothers me to my core. I never became a Chrystler/Dodge guy because I grew up in an era that was not favorable to them reliability-wise. They have some great-looking trucks and cars though. Peace, Love!!
Just purchased a loaded 24 Titan Pro 4x for under $54k. $80k is insane crazy for a truck. Thats a $26K price difference. My prior truck was a 15 F150 Lariat which I then paid $43k. Prices of trucks almost doubled in 10 years. Again...Insane crazy!!
I went with a Frontier just because it wasn't forced induction. The gmc/Chevy mid size looks superior in areas when I was shopping. I just don't want forced induction out of warranty and I keep my vehicles a long time. Im also very aware there our many people who have zero issues with their turboed oem engines.
Smart move, I had a forced induction engine "not naming names" & a little over a 100,000 miles it was finished. And after mine failed I started looking & it's quite common.
I hate how the 24 tremor looks in white. Looks like a basic work truck lol. But mechanically it is the superior truck. Asides from the cheap shocks youre getting a much better transfer case and front diff, way more powerful engine and itd towing and payload arent slashed. They need to do something about the front grill though, its a downgrade from the previous year
I have a white F150 Platinum; I like the basic work truck look, as it blends in more in parking lots and is less likely to get unwanted attention from nefarious individuals. I also find that the police don’t bother me as much either. Only thing better would be adding a fake company name to the side.

I've own a 2023 ZR2 6.2. Bought it new a year ago. LOVE it. Favorite truck I've ever owned. I did upgrade the exhaust to a Borla exhaust. Amazing truck. I had a 2010 F150 so I thought I was going to buy a Raptor when I went truck shopping. I drove both and loved the ZR2 so much more. Raptor is a great truck, just preferred the ZR2 personally.
Love mine too, too bad it has already been in the shop 3 times. Once for electrical issues, once for a def fluid line leak that put it into lymp mode, and now it’s an emission issue engine light that they can’t figure out.😢 I’m almost regretting this purchase. Love the truck but I’m already on 3 strikes in 9,000 miles.
@Jay-me7gw nope. Plus you gotta pay an additional $5k. The previous gen tremor looked better than the current one. This one looks like an old man's truck with no capabilities.
@ShelbyvsViper that's unfortunate but all car manufacturers have their handful of issues. I've put 6k miles so far in 4 months and nothing yet. I previously owned a 21 rst with the diesel as well for 40k miles no issues either.
If they were comparing the EcoBoost vs the Chevy 5.3, they might have an actual comparison as to which expensive truck has the least-reliable engine. But this? The LZ0 is soooo much better than that EcoBoost. They shoulda tested a 5.0 Coyote vs the LZ0 to make it a fair fight as far as reliability goes.
Test drove both of them when I was truck shopping in 2023, and I would have to say the ZR2 had a better ride. Test drove both on uneven and bumpy roads. I was amazed at how good the ZR2 performed. The ZR2 was also the quietest cabin I've driven in terms of wind/ambient sounds
@rootstriker1618 Agreed. I was actually wanting either a Rebel or a Limited since I had a 2019 Tradesman 5th gen. I loved everything about that truck, considering it was a basic truck. I wanted to upgrade, but at the time, there weren't any Rebel or Limited with the options I would have wanted. So, I went with a 2023 Tundra 1794 Edition because it had almost everything I would have wanted on a Ram for less. Thankfully, mine doesn't have an engine recall due to the time when it was produced. But, I sure do miss having a Hemi, especially since I removed the muffler and resonator to install an after-market resonator alone to give it a nice loud growl
I think you've underestimated the Torsen front differential in the Tremor. Having had them in both axles of my Jeep, as well as lockers in other trucks, I would pick Torsens over lockers any day in a truck that gets daily driven in a wide variety of conditions. There are very very few situations where that front locker would given an advantage over a torsen, and it would probably involve dragging your frame over rocks while you have tires lifted in the air. Even then the Torsen would still do well. Honestly, I'd be happier if the Tremor came with Torsens in both axles.
@@Jay-me7gwYeah absolutely not, lockers are plain better. My 06 TJ Rubicon when it was stock vs my 98 TJ with the Track-Lok differential was night and day, yeah you might still get up with an LSD but you’re gonna slip and possibly slide off what ever you’re climbing till it engages. If you’re going to go off-road, lockers are plain better. If you’re gonna drive on the road 90% of the time maybe just buy an Fx4 or trailboss Lol.
@@braddenr.4778 Plain better for what? Pure rock crawling? Sure. But these trucks are going to spend 99% of their miles on pavement. Also, you dont seem to know how a helical LSD works. It doesnt engage. Its instantaneous. The Track-Lok sucked and are knock to stop functioning at low miles.
Around here, diesel is at least $1/g more than gasoline. That more than offsets the higher mileage of the diesel. There are other reasons to buy a diesel, but on a 1/2 ton, it just doesn't pay fuel wise. Life of the engines may be another factor, but only time will tell if the diesel is that much better. Lastly, DEF and super expensive oil changes need to be factored in.
" There are other reasons to buy a diesel, but on a 1/2 ton, it just doesn't pay fuel wise." I get 28 to 30 mpg highway with the 3.0 Dmax. Diesel here is 3.69/gallon. A 6.2 recommends 91+ octane for best performance which is hovering arond $4.20/gal. Even with 87 octane, it's 3.39/gallon here. 30%+ better fuel economy more than offsets the cost of fuel here. DEF is cheap at truck stops and it's usually higher quality than jugs that have been sitting around for months. The 3.0 Dmax might use 5 gallons over the course of 7,000 miles. It's nothing as far as running cost. The oil changes for the 3.0 Dmax is slightly more, maaaybe $20-30. The 3.0 is a great choice. 460 lb ft at 1500 rpm, 495 lb ft at 2700 rpm. Mini-cummins engine note. There's a lot of reason to consider the diesel engine.
I have a diesel and gas trucks and vehicles and my diesel hold 3 times more oil then the gas versions. Much more cost for oil especially synthetic oil which is the only type that people should use. Where do you live with those interesting fuel prices? Interesting you premium fuel is almost a dollar more then reg?
@@huntsonora I bought a new 2023 with the V8. The vehicle selling price was 65ish out the door was 68 with taxes and such. They don’t have those BS fees. Chevy having that reflective strip on the dash was not thought through. On my 2022 it will blind you during the day, and the reflection of the strip below the AC vent is right in the middle of the side view mirror non stop. I do like the 3.0 duramax though. Not as efficient as my 2.8 duramax but it's a lot more fun to drive!
Both awesome choices, depending on what you prefer in engines/brand. I don't think you could lose with either truck, well, except maybe some hard-earned cash 😂.
When you add in def does it really get better economy. I have a buddy that has to refill 500 to 1000 miles depending on driving and conditions to me thats another added cost for fuel because you have to run it. Ill stick to gassers until they stop putting so much emissions crap on them (which they never will).
@@DEATHx27 I'm not buying def on top of fuel gas trucks get just as much mpg as a diesel now days and the diesel Silverado does not get 35 mpg. I have never seen anyone go 10 k on def u must never push that truck or tow
Modern Diesels get better highway and towing mpg than the equivalent modern gasser; there is tons of evidence and videos at TFL alone to back that up. Modern Diesels really only suffer in the city, where not only does their mpg drop below gassers but they also need to burn extra fuel to clean the DPF which normally cleans itself at highway speeds. I’m surprised that diesel trucks haven’t incorporated hybrid systems yet, as that would help immensely with one of their biggest drawback.
@@Cloud30000 diesel is also a dollar more a gallon where I live. It really is not saving you much more. Big diesel trucks like 2500 and 3500 with powerstokes and Cummings do better in towing heavy loads for sure. I remember when Ford first put a tailgate step on there trucks! And the reaction from Chevy was just to laugh saying real men don't need a step to get into there trucks!
I don't understand why the dealer doesn't use column shift anymore. They could have 3 seats in the front or more space for storage. To me more usable space makes more sense than a shifter that takes up that space
Chevy trail boss is badass. As a 20+ years of ford owner and first time Chevy guy, I am very happy for my zr2 2024 trail boss 5.7 ltr v8. I do like tremor and Raptor v8s but Chevy is level up.
I recently purchased a GMC AT4x with the Duramax. Upgraded from a 2018 f150 5.0. The mileage I am getting from my new truck is about 35% better than what I was getting out of my f150. I was never a GM fan, but was sold on the looks of the AT4x and the service after the sale. I am not sure why every ford dealership in the DFW area is terrible with service.
The 36 gallon fuel tank is great when towing or just road tripping empty. When you can go 700 miles on a tank you can pick and choose when to gas up. 24 gallons is getting you just over 500 miles. .
My Gov Burb has 39 gallons and can go 700 plus, and is a tow monster. Did a test going from Santa Clarita CA to Boise with Tahoe mileage was sas with AFM active going up vs off going back south. I looked at a Grand Wagoneer and average combined mileage was 16. It seems the newer stuff is getting worse mileage. Physics is Physics and I can hopefully get out of Zombieland before it goes crazy again.
700 miles is nice, but more niche then actually valuable; the odds of going more then 500 miles without finding a good place to gas up, but then finding that good place in the next 200 miles is pretty slim. The real benefit is towing, when range is cut in half or worse and not all stations can accommodate a trailer; that extra distance can then be a real life saver.
99.9% of the time, a Torsen/helical front diff is better than a front locker. Unfortunately, the other 0.1% of the time the front diff can save you from needing to be winched, but these are giant 1/2 ton pickup trucks and as such are the wrong vehicles for those situations anyway.
@@lespaulplayer1234512 A Torsen is totally a passive system, you don't have to think about [putting it into action. It also doesn't negatively affect drivability the way a locked differential will when turning, we've all forgotten to unlock a locker and tried a sharp turn. A true locked differential will get you moving at times a LSD, even a Torsen or similar, won't be able to, but those times are (hopefully) going to be really rare.
I would love to see a ZR2 able to seat 3 people in the front. I do like that center console unit I also love the practicality of a full size pickup truck. They really should make a three seat front row configuration, bring back old school chevy
Please come out with a video on the new 2024 F150 SuperCrew with the 2.7L eco boost! Feel like it’s a hidden gem in the truck market. Not crazily priced and offers everything you’d need in a full size pickup. Got mine for 32k w/4k miles as it was a loaner and comes with a 6 year 100k cpo warranty. I looked at the ram’s but didn’t like the new hurricane engines and hear they’re already having problems. Took a look at Chevy’s offerings and even drove the 2.7L 4cyl they had for a little while as a rental but it had electrical issues. Then was introduced to the new 24’ F150 Supercrew with the larger fuel tank, tons of leg room for passengers, and awesome fuel economy especially for a full size pickup. Have been averaging 24-25mpg on the highway. With the 10 speed it shifts wonderfully and gets great fuel economy.
Well a couple of things. First off with the payloads being so close, I don't really see how you're actually going to get nearly 2000lbs more towing out of the F150. Second the Duramax I6 is all aluminum, heads and block. It might have iron sleeves? Not sure, but other than that it's definitely aluminum. Last, those stupid useless hood bulges on the Chevy would force me to go looking for an aftermarket hood...or for a Sierra AT4X, which would eat into the price discrepancy between the two. If I was in the market I might have to call this a wash.
I'm generally not a Ford guy, but I saw one in a showroom, and I really like the Tremor. I just can't get on board with the newer GM styling, though. I really do like the look of the interior. 80k for the Ford is nuts though, the GM with the gasser is probably a much better value.
I love both these trucks, I think the zr2 looks a little better but in 5 years when I can afford a used one the 36 gallon tank in the tremor will probably be the deal breaker.
4:31 So it’s not blowing hot exhaust in your face when you’re connecting a trailer, like my Ram does. [Kind of] Okay in the winter, not so much in the middle of summer. Thanks for the content!
love the reviews! F150-Tremor is the BEST model in the F150 lineup for sure. crazy how much the already prices went up since 2022/2023. not enough difference in previous tremors to upgrade to 2024. The Torsen is definitely similar to front lockers and having 4auto is cool.
Hands down the ZR2 ! I can live without all the dumb features i'd never use on the tremor for $86,000 ! My only complaint is the ZR2 should also have a ext. cab variant cause i dont need the 2 extra doors !
@@DampNoodlesFront\360 cameras negate this issue. Actually makes me wonder if they are reducing visibility on purpose to upsell more camera packages\trims.
Both of these trucks can be had for cheaper. The V8 Tremor is also a more compelling buy for off-road. Something nobody ever address is the relatively modest gear ratio on the zr2 it’s insane for an off-road trim vehicle it’s should have a 3.73 minimum and would likely help the duramax
I don't really understand brand loyalty, you should always get the best for your need regardless of the brand. It's not like if you're a Ford guy and when you buy a Chevy, a Ford salesman comes to your house and says, Baby, why did you cheat on me and then set your new truck on fire.
Same here. Ford put food on my table when I was a kid. But really every single ford we have had has been just great vehicles. Go well over 200k on original engine and drive train. Of course we maintain them perfectly.
@timkinley1779 What’s wrong with buying ford. He in this day and age actually has more than enough reasons to buy ford. I am also a ford guy although I would definitely buy from other companies for some other reasons. If he doesn’t need anything other than ford why bash him?
A Tremor is only comparable to ZR2 in price. Tremor. 1 inch lift, non brand name shocks, crappy General ATX tires, only a rear locker /optional Torsen. ZR2, 2.5" lift DSSV shocks, lockers rear and front, high clearance bumper. The ZR2 is way more capable. The Tremor should only be compared to the Trailboss.
It may be one of the most capable 1/2 tons, but it is still a 1/2 ton in the end. A smaller devoted off-roader will cost much less, and leave enough to buy a truck that can tow and haul more then the ZR2. Too many compromises when trying to make a giant heavy truck into an off-roader.
Guys love your videos. Beautiful trucks. I'm wondering can you guys do a comparison video between a Ford xlt, Chev LT, Ram bighorn, "budget" trucks if you will. Something the normal person can afford. Compare them for towing, comfort, and value or bang for the buck. I'm soon going to be in the market for a new truck and I'm really unsure what to get. I'm gonna be looking for something along those lines of model and it's hard to find videos on trucks like them. Thanks guys love the content
I'm an Oilfield worker from northern Alberta, I just want to comment on the Auto 4 wheel drive selector on the transfer case. Ever since this came out years ago using it on icy roads all the time would eventually knock the transfer case out, there is to much shifting in and out of 4x4. Maybe the newer trucks work better than the ones 20 years ago, but I know a lot of people who lost there T-cases. So I personally don't use it. I either leave it in 4x4 or switch back to 2x4.
Ive been told that auto switch is the worse this out there. When the liquid switchs to a solid to engage 4x4 there is so much torque and force, no way in hell the case can hold up. Like you said obly in 2x4 or 2x4 never auto
Atleast for stellantis, the standard part time transfer case vs the 4A transfer case it was shown the 4A transfer case is not as heavy duty as the part time one. 4A uses clutches and doesn't truly lock like the part time one Comparison was done using the 4A that you could get in the ram 1500 (BW44-44 t case) vs the part-time in the wrangler/gladiator (BW44-45) I think only the raptor (and tremor) have a unique engineered system that has the transfer case using special clutches to simulate AWD in 4A while still having a proper lock in 4Hi and 4lo.
2 off road models each with a transfer case that doesn’t fully lock. Both use clutches to transfer power to the front wheels. Pitiful. In serious off road conditions, these transfer cases will overheat
They borrowed one of these from a dealership for the video; dealership still wants to sell it as new, so off-roading would be bad. The other one will get off-roaded in another video if it hasn’t already, as it is a fleet vehicle on loan to TFL to review.
I've driven the first gen. It's a great engine. Only downside is that belt on the BACK of the engine that needs to be replaced (what were they thinking!).
Just keep cases of oil in the truck since gm says it’s fine that it burns a QUART of oil every thousand miles while towing. Oh and the timing belt that has to be replaced in the back of the engine smh. Was a Chevy family until the last 2 Silverados had nothing but problems
It's madness seeing where the price of trucks has gone isn't it? In a matter of a 5 years trucks have gone up 35% and there aren't even incentives anymore. Hopefully buyers get smart and stop buying new vehicles so OEMs clue in on their insane prices, and lack of options that aren't part of huge costing packages

I get 600 miles of range in my 3 liter duramax. Those tires are gonna cut that down, but some externals can fix that. The Zr2 Duramax is the ultimate overlander
It would be the ultimate overlander if it had a larger tank. I know guys running 40 gallon auxilary tanks in their land cruisers in addition to the 24.6 gallon factory tank. It has a Torsen which is better for a mostly street driven truck IMO, especially with the 4Auto T-case. Ive owned vehicles with lockers and torsens. Had torsens front and rear in my Jeep Liberty and it was amazing.

RESPECT, for your honest and inciteful comment!!👍
Just purchased a loaded 24 Titan Pro 4x for under $54k. $80k is insane crazy for a truck. Thats a $26K price difference. My prior truck was a 15 F150 Lariat which I then paid $43k. Prices of trucks almost doubled in 10 years. Again...Insane crazy!!
Titan is not in the same class as these trucks. Reason why they stopped making them….
@erikturner8687 that titan pro4x will do anything that tremor will do, and will last a lot longer.
Over 340,000 miles on the 3.5 EcoBoost without issues. Will the V6 Nissan last as long?
Ohh grandpa
Smart move, I had a forced induction engine "not naming names" & a little over a 100,000 miles it was finished.
And after mine failed I started looking & it's quite common.
Econo midsize truck vs luxury full size truck. Thanks for the insightful comment.
5.0

ZR2 with the diesel hands down. I love mine! Last trip I averaged 27mpg!
Its not hands down. Plenty of reasons the F150 is a great option.
The ZR2 was also the quietest cabin I've driven in terms of wind/ambient sounds
ram limited gives a better ride
So, your saying these two guys were lying about the ford having a better ride than the Chevy?
coming from a ZR2 Silverado owner, you CAN'T underestimate that front factory locker, it's come in clutch sooooo many times
@@Jay-me7gw Had Torsens in other rigs of mine, haven't been impressed compared to the E-Lockers in my truck
@@kristoferfc6525 What other rigs?
@@Jay-me7gwYeah absolutely not, lockers are plain better.
Here in CO, the diesel is the same price as Regular Unleaded (85 or 87, depending on the station).
what do you mean super expensive oil changes? Cost me about $80CAD to change oil in my 6.6L Duramax. Rotella T4 oil and AC Delco filter
" There are other reasons to buy a diesel, but on a 1/2 ton, it just doesn't pay fuel wise."
I get 28 to 30 mpg highway with the 3.0 Dmax.

Chevy having that reflective strip on the dash was not thought through. The folding shifter with the workbench middle console really is a sweet design by Ford.
When you add in def does it really get better economy. I have a buddy that has to refill 500 to 1000 miles depending on driving and conditions to me thats another added cost for fuel because you have to run it. Ill stick to gassers until they stop putting so much emissions crap on them (which they never will).
The truck gets 35 mpg and uses a tank of DEF every 10,000 or so miles. The DEF is barely even a blip on the radar in comparison to the savings.
My father (RIP) had a late 70's F150 that he added a 75 gal. tank to the bed. I think it put capacity at 100 gal. Talk about range!
My coworker has the '21 GMC Elevation. Heard they get great mpg. Think they bumped up the power to 305hp in '22 or last year.
AT4x is sweet too. Love the new fords as well
12:37 - "I've been avoiding your bulges"
😂 this video was hilarious. I love it when you 2 record together.
I'll take the ZR2 for sure!!
You never mentioned DEF fluid $ in the diesel. Fuel filter cost, oil change cost and diesel cost more.
The Ford Raptor is the better buy
DEF is $20 every 3k miles.

99.9% of the time, a Torsen/helical front diff is better than a front locker. Unfortunately, the other 0.1% of the time the front diff can save you from needing to be winched, but these are giant 1/2 ton pickup trucks and as such are the wrong vehicles for those situations anyway.
what makes the torsen better than a true locker? Ive never heard somene who offroads frequent say that, most want a true locker.
Love when TFL is on location on the dealership lot

I wish that there was a way to SKIP the Grainger ad. I've seen it like 9x, with watching different TFL videos.
I love both these trucks, I think the zr2 looks a little better but in 5 years when I can afford a used one the 36 gallon tank in the tremor will probably be the deal breaker.
My 2021 Silverado WT goes offroad just fine

love the reviews!

Ya! And think about the price difference between the trailboss and the tremer!

20 years is the difference between the space shuttle program and Space X landing rocket boosters back on a boat in the ocean. A LOT has changed.
Ive been told that auto switch is the worse this out there. When the liquid switchs to a solid to engage 4x4 there is so much torque and force, no way in hell the case can hold up.

Been using auto on my trucks in MN winters since 08 and haven’t had one issue with it
Atleast for stellantis, the standard part time transfer case vs the 4A transfer case it was shown the 4A transfer case is not as heavy duty as the part time one. 4A uses clutches and doesn't truly lock like the part time one
Comparison was done using the 4A that you could get in the ram 1500 (BW44-44 t case) vs the part-time in the wrangler/gladiator (BW44-45)
I think only the raptor (and tremor) have a unique engineered system that has the transfer case using special clutches to simulate AWD in 4A while still having a proper lock in 4Hi and 4lo.

2 off road models each with a transfer case that doesn’t fully lock. Both use clutches to transfer power to the front wheels. Pitiful. In serious off road conditions, these transfer cases will overheat
Why dont you actually take em off roading and use those front lockers on the zr2

They borrowed one of these from a dealership for the video; dealership still wants to sell it as new, so off-roading would be bad.

@@Jay-me7gw Gotcha. Ford fan I see. Don't get too hurt.
Wait, criticizing the Ford is fine, but criticize the Chevy and you are a fanboy?
@@Cloud30000 my daily driver is a 2022 F250. Not a fanboy for either. The gold looks stupid. That's it.
If you combine GMC and Chevy, how is this best-selling truck in the land?
GM's truck platform is , and has been for quite some time, the best selling truck line in the world. They just like to separate it into 2 different brands for some reason.
When you arerunning on dirt roads and trails with your tires air'd down to 15 psi carrying water, food, a roof top tent and 1000 lbs worth of other shit getting 9 mpg, 24 gallons is gunna go quick.
@@Jay-me7gw that duramax will get much much better then that. Even crawling slow with tons of gear. That’s where it makes up for its small tank. I’d love to get a larger tank and go 1200 miles on a tank
ZR2 looks 1million times better than the F150. Duramax diesel for the win.
Your story sounds exactly like a Chevy dealership promo video where I live 😅😅
Hey guys I have a friend of 30 years he's been a service manager at Ford for a long time he says do not buy the EcoBoost they give trouble by the coyote that speaks volumes
@@robertjohnson4784 bullshit, ecoboost is solid
My brother’s friend’s father’s sister in-law looked at an engine once and told me to never buy one, stick to horses and bicycles. Solid advice me and the rest of the Amish community still live by.
@@spud2727 do your own experiment go to Ford dealer and ask all the sales people they all say eco boost go to the service people in the mechanics and they say coyote there's several videos out like that do your real research and find out the truth
@@robertjohnson4784people that like to work on cars love V8’s, that’s just a fact; asking engine preference versus whether the 3.5 is junk is two completely different things.
@@robertjohnson4784 I don't need to. I've had both, prefer eco, as I tow alot, no comparison in power, reliable as hell if you service it regularly, both are good engines
The ZR2 is really the best value offroader with the gas engine
Hemi blocks in the trucks were also steel
8:52 yeah definitely a bummer they only pair that feature with the High Equipment group, but worth noting Ford's Hi Lock transfer case is the same (or very similar) to the Raptor. It can mechanically lock fully unlike the ZR2 which just uses it's clutch packs to maintain coupling. Most people will never tell the difference, but worth noting.
Ford also has more complaints per units sold than Chevrolet.
Chevy and Toyota ranked below Ford in the latest reliability reports 🤣
@@Jay-me7gw Not according to JD Powers 2023 dependability study
@@JamesThomas-hd4me You know its 2024, right?
@Jay-me7gw on pick up truck talks , ford was worse than chevy. Video was out a couple days ago
JD Powers, that’s a trustworthy source. Guess Ford didn’t pay them enough this time around.
Booyah 👊🏽 😁 👍🏽 🇺🇸
Both are too expensive
The choice _IS_ obvious: both are better than a Ram.
So, did Roman drop the "no shorts" policy for TFL?
Yes
That Duramid engine is a peach.
What is diesel maybe $.75 more than 87?
It can be eco or it can be boost is NOT saying.
that indirect "do some coke off my laptop" hahahaha
Both are sweet trucks for sure. I would go out of my way just to get a base Tremor with the 5.0 Coyote. It’s a bummer that you have to spend $11k more to get 4 Auto and the front torsen differential though.
Should have used the. 5.0 tremor
I am waiting on Tundra Trailhunter
Looking forward to the day, Andre create his own TH-cam channel and collects more revenue… I will subscribe
Alsooooooooo isn’t 4WA terrible for the transfer case/transmission?
No. Its totally fine. I know guys that never take their F150's out of 4Auto and never have issues.
80K for a tremor, just get a raptor at that point, you can get a base raptor for like 82
Where was the factory trailer brake controller on the Chevy? Oh yeah, they don’t offer one.
It’s in plain sight next to the start button.
Prices on vehicles now are way out of hand. So I'm not a Chev or Ford guy now, or any new truck. And I'm a sad sad man.
80k with no front locker? Nope.
It has a Torsen which is better for a mostly street driven truck IMO, especially with the 4Auto T-case. Ive owned vehicles with lockers and torsens. Had torsens front and rear in my Jeep Liberty and it was amazing.
A front Torsen on a road with patches of ice and patches of dry pavement is incredible; unlike the locker, you don’t have to stay below 30 mph to prevent it from disengaging.
@@Cloud30000 100% agree. I've strongly considered swapping my F150's e-locker for a Truetrac(eatons version of the torsen) because they are just WAY more functional for a daily driven truck. I am about to regear my 200 series and strongly considering putting a Nitro Gear Helix helical LSD in it as well. A helical with a good traction control system like ATRAC would be essentially like a locker.
@@Jay-me7gwI have an F150 now, but my last truck was a 2019 Ram that I installed a Truetrac and I liked it much better since the only off-roading I do is dirt trails, but I have to deal with poorly maintained northeast roads every winter and the Truetrac found traction on every patchy road I took.
The only thing that has been stopping me from swapping mine out in the Ford is that the Ram was hit and totaled by a distracted driver after only having the Truetrac a year and a half, and the insurance did not cover the cost for it since it wasn’t part of the vehicle from the dealership. If the e-locker in the Ford fails out of warrantee, I am swapping in the Truetrac instead of repairing it.
I’ll take that 25-28 mpg’s over that 16 mpg any day TYVM
Will you be taking these trucks to the ranch for testing?
Both are badass. The Tremor gets the edge for me with looks and overall preference
it is an obvious choice. The Silverado is must better.
