Please do not confuse this with the old Pip Wiggleing exploit, this is intended to teach movement through pip. Don't button mash, have intent. The pip wiggle only works at long distance. I only use this function to illustrate movement relative to the enemy ship. Close range is all about transitioning the pip in a way that causes confusion and misdirection.
@@gatorpika lol yeah, me too, was real confused for a second. Unfortunately unless something has changed super recently you can still use that exploit with k&m, although I hear it's not quite as bad as it used to be. Avenger1 was complaining about it just a few weeks or so ago, though, so unless 3.17.2 has a stealth fix it's definitely not dead. Exploits like that are what keep me playing SC on TH-cam instead of in game :/ Given the bad blood I don't know if the PvP community will be all that receptive to the name change. I can definitely see it causing some problems if someone watches this video and then goes on reddit or twitch and asks about it. JW might be shooting himself in the foot here. Still, if that hurdle can be cleared I suppose it's a pretty good way to explain the tactic to new players.
Hi, as a player who want to get better in combat your video are amazing. Can you maybe do guide about heavy fighters (ares, vanguard...) ? Most of the tutorials I find are about light fighters and I guess movements and tactics are not the same.
This is very well produced and easy to follow. However I don't believe this form of pip wiggle is currently the meta, which accomplishes the goal more effectively: spin to win (barrel roll; NOT aileron roll). By generating constant angular momentum towards the center of an imaginary cylinder which your craft glides along the edge of, you are in effect constantly accelerating even without changing your effective speed or direction of travel. Because you are constantly accelerating, and because predictive pips only factor in instantaneous velocity for the prediction, you can completely nullify their pip aim. Still, your video is an excellent tip for beginners at combat, as strafing your ship is much simpler than constantly rotating and strafing.
It's not about the wiggle, it's about its implications. Rolls don''t work in close quarter pushes. You have to find a way to nuetralize being shot and pushing forward while being with evasive with your pip is crucial. Check the highlighted comment for a bit more.
Interesting and very good tutorial, though I was a bit confused on first look, about lag and lead, means I had to rewatch to find out that you are using lead pip in the examples. Pretty easy to find out ofc, but since they are starting directly after you explained differences regarding neutralizing pip in lag and lead, I was a bit confused. ;-) Thanks for that, will try that later on. Now with my TFRPs as addidition to my gamepad, that will work.
Can you demo this technique while your friend is moving in 1 direction? (upward with bottom thruster for example) I'm having a hard time picturing this move while also having to orbit a moving target. Thanks for the clear explaination though.
Pip wiggling is frowned upon. Randomly changing strafe direction inputs will eventually be punished with further g force penalties, or there will be a ramp in time when changing strafe directions that will make this method less effective. Better to use upstrafe and roll left and right to move the pip.
Dude these are all so good Ive literally just marathon'd all your video guides so far. Thanks man!
Amazing, this is the best show & tell for pip wiggle. thank you
Glad to see some more of your videos man, good stuff
Severely underrated channel.
Thank Johnathan, as usual straight to the point and very well done.

Yeah, that triggered me when you said it but then I saw that wasn't what you talking about. Good video.

Great video, as always!
Very informative.
another great tutorial! keep it up!
That was very interesting! May i ask you how you have bound your axis on your dual Joystick setup?
Excellent thank

You should make videos about how to evade and dance with a freighter under attack at some point in the future.

Good video ! I see a lot of good player using LAG PIP instead of LEAD, can you explain why and maybe tell us your preference ?
I'll be making a theory video soon, its going to go over everything we've learned and will start off with lead and lag pip.

We call this "PiP Evasion" :)

0:45 keep in mind this is not how you orbit but how you open opportunities for orbiting.
Pip wiggle tutorial 👍
When you did this to me it made perfect since , but when i do it, i still take a lot of damage lol
It's all about timing and distance.

That's not what this video is about, it has been better explained in the pinned comment. Forget pip wiggle, think pip evasion.
@@JohnathanWinters just trying to warn people about changes that will very likely happen soon. People relying on this may need to adjust. no worries 👍
God the Ares is just such hot garbage at putting rounds on target. Why CIG Whyyyyyyyy
It's insane how this game sucks and makes no sense
