      My habit is counting numbers in my head. VERY annoying, can never stop. Fortunately, that's it for now, I got rid of the rest of my habits on my own.

      @@Sapphiredrawing I count to four or any even numbers and if ANYTHING happens like I blink, or my foot starts itching I start over.

    I've had ocd for as long as I can remember. it used to be worse for me when i was younger and eventually it has gotten better. I have learned to control my thoughts in a more efficient way. For anyone who has ocd, trust me it gets better 💜

      @that.boy.cooper it really is. there were times I broke down crying because of the thoughts constantly running in my head. the worst thing was that they never ended, it's like they were there 24/7

      @@onIythepinks Same thing is happening with me. I have 3-4 types of OCD since 2 years and my heads hurts a lot whenever I ignore them or try to control them. I am not able to do things properly due to the thoughts and I can't just let them come. I couldn't understand what to do and sometimes I cry and get panic attacks too but nothing helps

    For anyone going through this it may seem hard but keep in mind, you don’t want to do this stuff that your thoughts are saying you do. You’re really just bullying yourself as crazy as it sounds, especially when the thoughts make you think you actually want to do something, but there’s no one, literally know one making you and your mind may feel like it’s going to make you do it but you don’t have to, you really don’t and most importantly you don’t want to and deep down you know it. You just have to be strong and remember that it’s just your ocd messing with you. You’ll get through this no matter how badly it scares you. I’m praying for y’all 🙏🏼

      @@elizathokerjann8215 I would just learn to laugh again , you know, it’s always so serious all the time with stuff because it is, but we don’t realize how much it’s sucking the enjoyment out of your life and making us feel less human, so try, just try to have fun and also, let someone know it really helps when someone else knows what you’re going through.

      For me, when I have a crazy thought, I just say "ok, this will happen" instead of "no, I can't let this happen, it will hurt me" over and over and over again.
      The ocd (in my experience) wants attention, it wants to be validated, just like you want to be validated when you say "Is this real?" About an ocd thought.
      I telll the ocd "yes this will happen" and the "snowballing" goes away, it got what it wanted from you.

    when Dr McMahon says about having OCD of fearing to harmed the one's you loved, I break instantly and started to cry, that's been the thing that has been going on inside my head for 6 MONTHS or less, and there's been no one i can reach or talk to about this until i saw this video where finally someone is mentioning what ive been going through and it immedietaly makes me went into tears, ''THERE IS FINALLY SOMEONE THAT KNOWS WHAT IVE BEEN GOING THROUGH'' that's what i thought, ik it sounds overreacted but believed me thats what i felt when i heard those words, thank you doctor and i will take all of your advice and used it for now on, Thank you doc, just thank you

      😭😭😭couldn't agree more..it is literally damaging my mental.and physical health and also my relationship with my family..this pandemic made the thing worst..
      I feel so helpless.. just want to get out of this but everytime I started to do something,I failed.. I'm totally ruined

      i have ocd abt '' disgust '' and hatred against a person who lives in my area, first i just thought he was disgusting but now hes just like a walking nightmare lol, ive ben mostly isolating myself for like 2 months and cant touch sertain areas in my house

      im a young teen boy, and I am starting to think I have OCD. Since when I was young enough to know what is happening around me, maybe like 5 or 6, sometimes made up scenes of disturbing and cringy scenes appear in my mind, even though I dont want it to. Or even far as people I know injured, dead, or killed brutally. Do you think I have OCD?

      if you are reading this comment you are so lucky because probably your ocd will get treated after you read this comment. I have been suffering from ocd the last two years and finally got a treatment for my ocd and i will summarize the treatment for you. the reason you have ocd is because you have a phobia of some thing like losing weight or losing your jop because you are worried that you may not get another great jop like the one you have. your ocd my start with you breathing by breathing manually or even start with your blinking by blinking manually and it spreads to other things like jumping in public places or moving you neck back to hurt your self but you can't stop your self from doing that . your body may try to tell you these ocds are different ocds but you should know they all are one ocd and they are connected and if you solve the thing that caused the ocd to you they will all go, even if you take the path of solving the that reason your ocd will slowly vanish, some people may say but I have so many things that cause phobias to me so how can i know the thing that causes ocd to me . the answer is ther is always one main thing that causes phobia and that phobia turns to ocd and the ocd creates other phobias so you just need to remember the main thing that caused the phobia to you and solve it. if you read this comment and your ocd got better or even fully vanished you can give me some tip💵 because it took from me two years to figure out this treatment and i summarized the treatment for you in just one comment and if you want to ask me more questions you can easily contact me on my Instagram: ten598g

    I had suffered from OCD for many years since childhood. But I found out that it's a real thing 2 years ago. My OCD has reached at an extreme level now. It's been peaking since a year and a half now through this pandemic as I was mostly at home sitting idle, furlong these thoughts. I still remember, one day I went to my friend's house, he asked if we could to his cousin's house who lived nearby. He said it would be fun and he really was a great guy. After some talking he asked us to go to a grocery store which wasn't too far. We agreed as who would not, free treats. We went and chewed on some chewing gums. As we were about to leave it started raining out of nowhere. There was a small alley like thing just beside so we waited there until the skies would get clear. I saw an electric box thing there which was connected to an overhead wire. It was very poorly sealed. My OCD kicked in and I started playing with it. I could read the warning that it was life threatening but I was helpless. My enemy was my mind and my thoughts. I did what my mind made me do but I would come up with excuses to repeat it. Likes, oh I missed that edge over there, my fingers weren't all flat while I went through it or my palm or all of my fingers weren't touching at the same time and other random crap. I was on it until my friend and his cousin scolded me in a soft way and like woke me up, I was sorta unaware of what's going on and it's just me, my thoughts and the compulsion which I had to do. I don't think I would probably be here tell you guys about this if I was stuck on doing that for just a few more minutes.
    I found out about videos like these probably 2 months ago but I have been avoiding it or you can say my mind has been making me avoid it and procrastinate. But, today, I finally gathered up the courage and gave myself reasons on why I should watch it. I am totally happy I did it. I also regret that I should've done this a long while ago. Things would probably have been different. Still, in the end, it feels good to know that I am not alone, people who are just like me, and people who would not think I am crazy, unlike my parents, exist. It's so awesome to know that people are actually trying to find solutions on this and helping the ones who fell victim to this cruel curse. If you have read it this far, I thank you for giving me your precious time which I am probably not worthy of, and I am grateful to anyone and everyone who helps themselves and the others with OCD ❤️

      @@Aaliya710 First of all, thanks for taking me back to my comment si made more than a year ago. I got reminded of the time back then and how far I've come. Life has changed a lot since then.
      Anyways, you would not believe me but the best way to cure OCD is to not run away from it. When you do so, that's the moment you let your OCD win. When you get the compulsions, just say to yourself “yeah I know these thoughts are coming in my mind, maybe they are correct maybe they are not, but I just can't be bothered to do the compulsion right now”. Let them come, let them sit, and they will eventually go away. The best thing you can do is to do NOTHING! Yes, you heard me right, because the moment you try to run away from them or try to act on them, you've lost...
      For example if you get a compulsion of your hands getting dirty and now you gotta wash them and you are sure it's your OCD and they are not really infected just say to yourself, “hmm maybe they are dirty, maybe they are not. Who cares, what's the most that could happen? I will be admitted to hospital? Heck yeah I like going to the hospital”. If you keep doing this repeatedly you will one day defeat your OCD and be free. And dont get too happy once you defeat a compulsion. Because they keep coming so be prepared for every other one.
      You can do this, just believe in yourself, not your OCD. Good luck 👍

    I have had OCD for a really long time now. When I was younger it wasn't that bad but when I was growing up it was getting worse. I spend a lot of time repeating the same thing and overthinking what will happen if I won't. I'm so tired of that now and I just want to be happy and stop doing all of these things. I'm scared to tell anyone about it because I tried and my family laughed at me and told me that I'm just overreacting. I talked about it with my friends but I still feel like no one understands me. I finally decided to fight with it myself and I will try really hard to recover from OCD. Wish me luck guys and I'm gonna say good luck to everyone who tried to recover from OCD. You are strong and you can do it.

    I have OCD. Does it suck? Yes, is it a death sentence? No, everyone has there problems in life. Main thing is to remain positive and know you’re not alone. You’ll eventually master OCD.

    I have a very severe case of OCD, and it’s telling me to do things that I’m scared or not willing to do before my birthday, which is in a month. It makes me jump in public for no reason, and that makes me look like a freak. OCD is not just hand washing and such; it’s a really controlling thing.

    How refreshing to watch a video where so much adds up, makes sense and like the doctor talking knows what she is talking about because she also has it. I thought I was the only 1 with multiple things that my ocd is affecting but it seems I am not. Stronger together and as a team fighting ocd.

    I have been dealing with OCD since I can remember. It has kinda morphed into many shapes, but just recently I understood what I had. I don't wanna bores you guys with the details on how difficult it has been. I would instead like to tell you guys that I will work on it. To the best of my abilities, and I am sure I will overcome it cause it is a giant jump that I have to take to be able to become who I want to be. Just remember what rock Lee says man.     Thank you so much for this! This is definitely helpful. I feel heard right now. I feel understood. When I heard that it is not a choice, I felt heard and understood extremely. Because most people think that it can be controlled or chosen. I even experienced having someone say that they struggle because of my OCD more than I am struggling. It’s so messed up. I just don’t think that comparing what they feel to what I feel is helpful. It’s making me feel so bad about myself. I don’t want this, and that is something people need to understand. To all those people who have OCD too, we can get through this. It will get better.

    I remember it started at the age of 16. I am 28 now. Sometimes it becomes too severe and I keep on brooding over these thoughts inspite of being aware that these are just thoughts. I have control over my actions and I can never do that. This video is really helpful. I will work on Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy and will try to stop my compulsive behaviour.

      if you are reading this comment you are so lucky because probably your ocd will get treated after you read this comment. I have been suffering from ocd the last two years and finally got a treatment for my ocd and i will summarize the treatment for you. the reason you have ocd is because you have a phobia of some thing like losing weight or losing your jop because you are worried that you may not get another great jop like the one you have. your ocd my start with you breathing by breathing manually or even start with your blinking by blinking manually and it spreads to other things like jumping in public places or moving you neck back to hurt your self but you can't stop your self from doing that . your body may try to tell you these ocds are different ocds but you should know they all are one ocd and they are connected and if you solve the thing that caused the ocd to you they will all go, even if you take the path of solving the that reason your ocd will slowly vanish, some people may say but I have so many things that cause phobias to me so how can i know the thing that causes ocd to me . the answer is ther is always one main thing that causes phobia and that phobia turns to ocd and the ocd creates other phobias so you just need to remember the main thing that caused the phobia to you and solve it. if you read this comment and your ocd got better or even fully vanished you can give me some tip💵 because it took from me two years to figure out this treatment and i summarized the treatment for you in just one comment and if you want to ask me more questions you can easily contact me on my Instagram: ten598g

    While Dr. McMahon was saing "checking locks once and then not going back" I was laughing but crying inside cause I'm that person in my house who has to lock the front door every night before sleeping and I used to check it multiple times and sometimes ask my brother to go check once. However, I taught myself to stop checking a thousand times by saying this spell in mind, " I assure myself that the door has been locked well and I do not need to panic".

    I've been trying ERP on my own because I can't afford therapy at this point, it was extremely difficult at first, honestly when I first heard about this treatment I completely rejected the idea, just the thought of it made me kind of... angry? But it's been almost a year now, I've been able to completely stop some of my compulsions, actually I only have two or three now when it used to be too many to count. This used to consume my life, it was affecting absolutely everything and taking away my time. Now I'm hopeful, I've made so much progress and am already at a point that just a year ago I wasn't able to even imagine. If you're reading this and struggle with OCD, please know it's not undefeatable, it can get better

    I believe I have had ocd for years but my family for some reason does not believe me. My ocd has now gotten to the point where I’m believing I did things I didn’t (for example hurting children, hurting people, etc) things I would never dream of doing to someone. It is very scary as these thoughts seem very real, and you try to fight it with logic but you can’t.
    But I am beginning to get terrified as I am only 16 and these thoughts started yesterday. I don’t want to live like this, it’s messing with my head.

      @Arpita2049 I’m not sure, I know stopping googling was the first move to stop the compulsion I had to look for comfort. It was hard but I managed. Then I tried to not follow thoughts. Let them come in but don’t interact (that was the toughest) and now it’s getting a bit better. My best advice of all would be to keep going out with friends. I skate a lot that has saved me a lot.

    I'm extremely exhausted, it's hard to live with ocd, my ocd started when i was 8 and now I'm 13 i really can't stop washing my hands and trying to balance the left and right equally or typing "harmful to the health" words which i don't even want to give an example of, i told my mom but she doesn't understand leading me to watch these types of videos, I'm just trying to help myself.

    I've been suffering a lot since a month ago with intrusive thoughts and sensations. I'm hyperaware of my blinking and the groinal response. It's just horrible and there isn't a day that I haven't cried. I conquered an obstacle in my life and here came another trying to break down everything I fought for. It's terrifying to me and it makes me so anxious that I'll never be normal again. I've been watching so many video's on OCD and most of it is what I relate to but my therapist hasn't diagnosed me with it yet. I just hope I can get better and I can live my life normally again.

    I’ve came to the realization that my mind won’t be completely clear when I go out and have fun, there will be background thoughts that are triggering and there will be uncertainty and there will be mental compulsions. It’s a hard thing to accept because I want so badly to be able to go somewhere and just not be stressing about anything. But it feels good that I’ve accepted it, hopefully I will see a therapist for it soon.

      Ive been working as a barista since January 11th of this year and I constantly can’t remember how to do simple things and if I do try Im afraid I’ll screw up and do it wrong, but if I do the same thing at home or in a more private setting where I know nobody is watching me my anxiety and fear lift and I do whatever I need to just fine.

    I just wanted to share this OCD related thing that i’ve been doing this morning for about half an hour now, so, I have these pants that everyone complimented me on, and this one teacher said she wanted to “feel” them, which I said that it was okay for her to do so because I didn’t want to seem disrespectful. And well, a few weeks passed and I started listening to this spiritual/paranormal podcast and in one of the episodes it said that curses can be transferred by simple touch (This is likely untrue so please don’t take this seriously). Fast forward to this week’s Thursday, I somehow came to the conclusion that this teacher that touched my pants to feel them had ill intent, I haven’t worn those pants in weeks but today, I was cleaning my closet and came across these same pants that the teacher touched. With the whole touch-curse knowledge in mind and ne suspecting that this teacher had ill intent I was literally acting like those pants were contaminated. There was a chain on them so I took it off and wiped it, then, I put those pants in the laundry machine to get rid of the supposed “curse”, I proceeded to wipe the floor of the area where I put the pants, than I kinda subconsciously kicked them and had to wipe my slippers and WIPE MY FUCKING SOCKS WITH A WET WIPE💀. I actually couldn’t believe I was doing this but still continued to wipe shit that had NOTHING to do with this. Like, for example, the door handle of my room, because I touched it and my hand which touched the pants and therefore, “contaminated with the curse” and, well, you can probably guess how the next about half-hour went… Anyway, I just sat down from this whole cycle and searched up “how to get rid of OCD” or something along those lines and came across this video, so just wanted to vent and hopefully gave a few people maybe relate to this, if so that would be pretty cool. Also, sorry if this is confusing to read I just kinda sat down and had to vent so this was written completely on impulse. Hope you all have a great day.

      Knowing that few people will reply to this I had something to share in relation to this event. So, I wore this blouse, and that same teacher said that my collar was inverted so she asked if she could fix it and I said “sure” (that was the time I started suspecting her) and then I decided that it was time to act because I didn’t want to stay with the thought of this. So, on that sane paranormal podcast it said that you can get rid of the curse by touching whoever you suspect back, so, I asked her to go to the bathroom when I didn’t even want to and lightly touched her shoulder saying “oh, there was a speck”. She smiled, signed my pass and let me go. That was hands down the most awkward and nerve-wracking experience that I’ve had at school this year.

Just stop , relax,, and let it go ,, on its own don't try to push your thoughts away ... U just need to do 1 thing to ignore any impulse which to ur mind related to ocd,, touch,,superstitious belief any of themm... Stay calm ... U will initially feel anxious but believe me it will go away... Ur thoughts are just vague u have to do a lot mor in ur life u can't stay with these stupid thoughts
      .. It's like the other people are trying to achieve something new and better each day because they don't need to induldge on ocd but u have to overcome ocd each and everydl day and feel accomplished, satisfied... Whic is actually nothing.. U achieve nothing still ur induldging in these stupid ocd thoughts... U just need not to think about them,, thoughts will go on its ownn...

    I found out I have ocd today, cos I never knew about that . I thought I was being psycho for all past years. And I never told it to anyone even to my family or friends cos I thought they'll think that I am some kind of weirdo. Now I'm kinda relief that I found out about my condition. I'm sure it's still hard to come over all my obsession but now I know it so I won't be so stressful. And I believe we all can get over it 🙏🙏💪

    Can I ask you a question? I struggle with ocd and I was wondering if you have a tip on panic attacks. If I don’t do a compulsion because I don’t want to, I want to learn to stop doing it, but then ocd reminds me of the thing I didn’t do and then it feels like I really have to do it. And if I don’t do it I get a panic attack. It is really frustrating and ruining my life.
    (Update) I am trying to recover on my own and it’s working. I’m not saying you can’t have help because talking to someone really does help but you can do it without! What I discovered while observing ocd, is that I feel more anxious while doing a compulsion rather than not doing it. When I observe the thought and think by myself... no I am not going to do that compulsion, I will be fine because I trust myself, and then don’t do the compulsion and do something else, the thought fades and I really just forget it. So you can make a big deal out of a random thought or you can just let it pass and say that this is not what you want so you’re not doing it because nothing will change except you feeling anxious. You can do it and so can I! 💕

      @dieuwke please share more if you don't mind when I don't sanitize the things the ocd tells me to, the thoughts get louder & louder until I end up sanitizing everything even from the day I can remember ignoring the thoughts.. then i wash my hands 50 times each time I use the bathroom now my hands look like a monkey literally my skin has wounds

      @@jeswazwadi7049 hi maybe I can help you. My ocd tells me things too and if I don’t listen it becomes quieter. But, when I do one thing ocd tells me, and then I don’t listen, it becomes louder.
      We have to look at these thoughts as just that: thoughts. We are not our thoughts! We can think whatever we want why listen to a voice that only holds us back.
      I know it is hard but I’m trying aswell to stop the compulsions because if you give in and do a few you can’t stop.
      You can say to ocd that it’s okay, you don’t need to wash your hands 50 times, 1 time is enough. Talk back and say you don’t want to do it and that that is your decision.
      I feel more awful when I obsess and listen to ocd than when I talk back and don’t do it at all. You have to prove to your ocd and to yourself that you are stronger than that voice!

    I’ve had OCD since I was 10 years old, it wasn’t such a big deal, once in a while I had trouble with intrusive thoughts (nothing disturbing, most of them were cleaning related) but they appeared and disappeared very quickly so they didn’t perturb me really. But now that I am 19 yo OCD came back way stronger, way worse than ever before, for the first time agressive intrusive thoughts appeared in my mind and it’s very difficult to handle those images in your head.

    I didn’t have ocd until I was 28. I’m 41 now. Never understood the feeling until I got it. Mine is the checking (making sure everything is locked, the stove/oven is off, etc…) every day. Takes me forever to leave the house, to go to bed. It’s exhausting. I know rationally everything is off or locked but I get so anxious that I didn’t see it correctly. I’ll even take a photo to comfort me but that doesn’t work because I’ll do it forever too.

    As a sufferer of OCD for more than 40 years, I can share what has what has helped me break the cycle of intrusive thoughts. For me it was checking.
    One to four hours a day, now I,m lucky to check for 10 minutes, with my house, work car and leaving for work. I started with one area, house checking and then the others.
    Everyday I decided to confront the easiest ritual/task, and then built up confidence to tackle the tough ones. You must not give in to one compulsion, otherwise it breaks your
    confidence, and determination, before you know it, your rituals/compulsions become very easy to confront, and they don't bother you.

    I feel more and more of this recently in my life. I stumbled across this video today because my husband got on to me about constantly moving his items (keys, wallet, mail) to another spot right after he puts it in a spot I don't like. I'm working on not doing that. He got on to me again today because I felt I needed to turn off the kitchen light and he wasn't done eating. It definitely makes me feel crazy, and my husband expressed he doesn't feel like he loves here anymore. :-*((( I've been crying the last few days because of this problem but I'm glad I'm not alone. Going to try some therapy to get this problem resolved.🙏🏼

    Fighting with OCD is very hard, it makes your life like hell...I have been through CBT, medications, therapies, everything.. at last transcranial direct current stimulation therapy came to my rescue, free from OCD now ..

I have been suffering from ocd the last two years and finally got a treatment for my ocd and i will summarize the treatment for you. the reason you have ocd is because you have a phobia of some thing like losing weight or losing your jop because you are worried that you may not get another great jop like the one you have. your ocd my start with you breathing by breathing manually or even start with your blinking by blinking manually and it spreads to other things like jumping in public places or moving you neck back to hurt your self but you can't stop your self from doing that . your body may try to tell you these ocds are different ocds but you should know they all are one ocd and they are connected and if you solve the thing that caused the ocd to you they will all go, even if you take the path of solving the that reason your ocd will slowly vanish, some people may say but I have so many things that cause phobias to me so how can i know the thing that causes ocd to me . the answer is ther is always one main thing that causes phobia and that phobia turns to ocd and the ocd creates other phobias so you just need to remember the main thing that caused the phobia to you and solve it. if you read this comment and your ocd got better or even fully vanished you can give me some tip💵 because it took from me two years to figure out this treatment and i summarized the treatment for you in just one comment and if you want to ask me more questions you can easily contact me on my Instagram: ten598g

    I got OCD for a while now..Doubting and having difficulty tolerating uncertainty.Aggressive or horrific thoughts about losing control and harming yourself or others.
    Unwanted thoughts, including aggression, or sexual or religious subjects are the symptoms I have ,the last one happens too much to me..

    I experienced All of the signs and symptoms of OCD since teenager. But I don't have enough knowledge about this illness so I always tell myself that it was just a mannerism that keeps me doing those actions uncontrollably. This day I already confirmed it because all of the symptoms said by the speaker was experienced by me and it was really helpful to know it now so I can exercise some tips to conquer this illness.

    As a kid(3 yrs old)I remember telling my mother I had monsters talking to me in my brain, of course she freaked out every time i said it. She’d rush me to the nearest hospital every time i’d say something manic or out of context. The doctors, nurses, family, friends no one could tell me what was wrong with me. Eventually my mom couldn’t take it anymore and she started spiraling, once she even grabbed me in the doctors office and she asked me, “Where did Ayvah(me) go,?! where’s my little girl?!” That just freaked me out even more. Most of the time i’d just keep the thoughts to myself until my breaking point. This one time I went into the hospital and they did a brain scan or something on me and they came back and said that my brain was swollen. I’m not sure why i still to this day don’t even know if it was fully true of what they said but once i also was diagnosed with ‘tics’ also known as ‘pandas disease’ later in my life, around the age of 7, when I’d read i’d stop to jerk every 5-10 words or make a noise. I just had to do it or else I’d suffer a consequence id came up with in my crazy brain. In the third grade i’d wear the same hair style everyday because i’d convinced myself if i changed it no body would see me as a ‘tomboy’ anymore and that was just so important to me back then because I thought it made me look cooler in some way. I wouldn’t let anyone touch my hair or even brush it and not because it was a braty thing I did, because I had learned what a brat was and thought that was a normal way to act as a kid so i thought i was supposed to do stuff like that too. Anytime i’d see something different or someone acting differently i’d pick up on it and compare it to myself, that was the way my ocd worked, and if i didn’t do those things i was a bad person or I wasn’t doing life the right way. It even interferes with my religion and the way i had a relationship with it. As a kid I always had little things nag me like the volume on the tv number not being on a number that either ended on 0 or 5, and if anyone so ever brought up the number 5 i just had to give them a run thru on my experience with that specific number, at one point in my life i learned to Chanel my ocd in a good way through out sports but as i’ve gotten older my nerves get worse and i have so many more things to worry about and so many more expectations to meet, the thing is my ocd gets worse the more i grow up it seems and i’ve never really been diagnosed with ocd but I know I have it, I live everyday of my life as someone I don’t want to be, just because of my ocd. I do things I don’t want to, i make mistakes I don’t choose to make and I do things that i hate myself for doing but things that I know I won’t stress on in that minute. One thing my ocd makes me do is decide things that are better for my future and besides that i hate everything else this stupid whatever it is makes me do and I just want to be a normal human being who can make their own decisions without having to pause just because i have a ball of uncomfort in my stomach spitting out a bunch of horrible, horrid things that i’ll have to suffer thru just if i don’t do this one thing, that is whatever it’s making me do in the moment. I can’t even thing normally anymore without categorizing my thoughts into different ‘personalities’ or types of people i’ve came up with in my mind, i can’t even be happy anymore without it being fake because i’ve made myself or my ocd had made myself believe that happiness is just a state of mind and it isn’t something that is real and it’s just something that a type of person feels because they’ve done something to make them happy, i feel like i’m never gonna get to be happy because i’ve tried and i can’t anymore, my ocd is so bad, i can barely even type right now because of it, it’s so hard to explain but i know i’m not crazy. I’ve delt with this horrible thing for so long, i’m now 14 years old and still haven’t been diagnosed with anything because i’m afraid to say how I feel and i’m afraid to stand up for myself, i’m scared i’ll just get told my brain is swollen or it’s my ‘tics’ but i know it’s not. I know it’s Ocd and how am I supposed to control this?! I feel like I’m ruining me and my moms relationship, she told me some horrible things and it’s because of me that she did that, i’m tired of taking self pity on myself too like blaming my ocd for everything, i feel bad and don’t even know who i am because my whole life i’ve had this horrible ocd and it’s controlled me. Thanks for reading of you did, I hope this gets to someone atleast and they could help me out because i’m not even sleeping at night anymore. There’s wya more my ocd does but i’d never be able to write down every detail as much as it might ag away at me.

I think I must also share my story like I also will be of 15 yr this month I am not diagnosed with ocd but I know I have some intrusive thought s which tell me like I am a bad person like I don't like the advancement of people or I am jealous of them as u told that u can't type that it's in my case too I just tell something bad to anything happening around me it can be anything my best friend ,my parents even you but I know I am not telling these the best thing is that I tried. To ignore these thoughts and my thoughts slowed down many times but suddenly I get relapses like some thoughts and if I stress on them they come again and now I am I think I will be able to cope up with it.       You are alone of course. There is noone else in your head instead of you and you have always known what is normal and what is fictional as ocd thoughts so just overcome it. Just do it. :)

    OCD is a condition where a person takes a regural thought , situation and makes sure it doesnt happen to them, the person doesnt allow themselves thoughts in there own brain. The person turns the thought into a trigger n then makes sure it never goes through their mind ever again , and if it does
    Which of course will , the person starts a cycle of stopping the obsssesions..( which is their thoughts , but they treat it like intruders) I had severe OCD for. Years n yet have never seen a professional explain exactly how it works n why the person does what thr person does.

    I have OCD. I feel everything has to fall perfectly into place and be planned to never change. If things don't happen the way I want, it gets chaotic. My anger goes to 100 and I start getting argumentative and moody. I feel like a brat that wants things my way or it's going to be a huge problem. I dislike being me and sometimes I rather isolate from everyone so I won't cause issues. At least I recognize I'm the problem and maybe that's one big step but the difficult part is when people do not understand what you are struggling with and mental illness.

    My mom has OCD and has had it for my entire life. Her sickness has caused me a lot of childhood trauma and issues and I hate it so much. I’m at a point where I actually get angry at any signs of OCD whether in myself or others. I have no patience or sympathy for it. I understand it’s a serious disorder and the compulsion is hard to break from, but I have so much resentment for people who do not recognize the problem and try to get therapy to fix it instead of pressuring those around them and ruining their lives to accommodate their compulsions.

    I used to have bad anxiety and my friend sent me an article about how to stop my ocd. It told me to allow the thoughts to come in and agree with them and not do the compulsive things. It came back and hit me like a truck, it took me from April until now to realize all the thoughts and overthinking I’ve had were from my ocd coming back. Now I must agree with the thoughts yet again and stop the compulsions. The annoying thing is when I do the compulsions without thinking lol.

    I have OCD with my emotions, and it attacks what I love the most. After years of feeling lost about what path to take in my career, I found economics, then became an economist and I was the happiest on earth. Then one day, OCD came and in just 1 minute and thinking "Maybe I could do something else. Did I really wanted to be an economist? Do I really like it? Why did I even start? Maybe it was a mistake. Maybe I can do something else which satisfies me more". Since than moment, everything's gone. I cannot focus, I panic thinking about reading economics again. My rational part of the brain says I am mentally ill, I have studied 10+ years and now I just wanna quit, says it makes no sense its a mistake and I shouldn't. My emotional part just wants me to quit, with no explanation. I feel I need to quit. I cannot recognize any emotion, I feel anxious, I suddenly feel attracted for stuff like law. I went 2 years to law school, hate it and left. Never had an interest in law. Now I feel I want to be a lawyer with no trigger, I haven't done anything, it just gives me positive thoughts. My head is upside down and I don't know what to do. But I've suffered for so long I believe I was born like this and will need to accept I'll always be a loser. I will not be able to raise a family. I will not be able to have a successful career. I will be nobody because of this and depressed for most of my life.

      I get that totally, you're not alone. My symptoms have changed a bit throughout the years and they have got milder. I pray to god that they won't get back to the worst point. I want to be a pro footballer and I think I'm quite talented, but this obsession has affected the one thing I like the most. I don't know what to do. I don't wanna tell my friends or family. Sometimes when we're just casually playing board games with my family I randomly get so angry and agressive, because of these thoughts and they also affect my school performance. My grades have gone down like 2 numbers and my parents are mad at me for that, but I'm too scared to tell them.

    I have this obsession to keep on checking the bathroom basin and cleaning it for some reason to make sure it's alright even though i hate it and I wish it was changed. Its quite weird

    um I need a bit of help so I'm a child and I just feel like someone telling me to do things I don't want and that's stressing me out I was in the store getting candy and went to the cooking aisle and I got stressed out I didn't know why but when I started thinking I realized that my mind/brain was telling me

    I’m 14 and have really bad anxiety and im sad to say I feel these urges I will wash my hands a lot and lock the door many times over and turn the light switchs on and off and other less occurring urges and im struggling, I fight the urges and sometimes I don’t go through but most times I follow through with those urges, I dont have urges when I’m happy

      I can relate to this in every single way. I wash my hands about 5 times an hour and also have other compulsions like do everything twice. I am really embarrased that i can't help myself. I even have compulsions in front of family members and friends and it just takes a lot of time, effort and mental strenght. I really need help but i can't tell my mother or father so i just watch these videos and hope a miracle happens.

    I’ve been suffering a lot with ocd for years. I waste almost all my time on my ocd for example I press my keys so hard on the laptop til it feels right and that gives me anxiety because I want to stop but for some reason I can’t. And that’s just one of the things

    My OCD is so crippling and it has to be one of the worst cases ever. I can’t keep stuff in my room except for 3 books; I can’t read the books that I do keep in my room; I can’t wear boxers, jumpers and hoodies. So even if I’m cold, I can’t do anything. I’m in a mental hospital rn and I feel like I’m getting better. I feel like when I go home, because it’s a different environment, I won’t be able to do the OCD routines above anymore. But if I go home and develop new routines, only God knows what I’m going to do with myself.

    I never realized I had OCD until now, I would usually think it's just me who's been talking to myself lately and probably took themes of thoughts from shows I watch, everyday's a struggle, I would usually wake up hoping I won't remember my " Brainiac " or what I call my very messy thoughts, I would hope that someday I'll wake up to a soothing morning without anything ruining it, I won't remember anything that disgusted me or anything weird I saw in the internet, it has always been a struggle watching horror movies cause whenever something horrible happens it would repeat over and over again in my head lines that sound like it will summon the devil, or say bad thoughts that'll make me think God will hate me for thinking of, I don't know never realized that I've been acting like this like it was normal for the most part at least haha, I love cleaning everyday and every night I have the urge to just clean something I remembered messy I would plan when to do it and always organize things, my dad would usually ruin the organizations which would tick me off, but I gotten used to it

      if you are reading this comment you are so lucky because probably your ocd will get treated after you read this comment. I have been suffering from ocd the last two years and finally got a treatment for my ocd and i will summarize the treatment for you. the reason you have ocd is because you have a phobia of some thing like losing weight or losing your jop because you are worried that you may not get another great jop like the one you have. your ocd my start with you breathing by breathing manually or even start with your blinking by blinking manually and it spreads to other things like jumping in public places or moving you neck back to hurt your self but you can't stop your self from doing that . your body may try to tell you these ocds are different ocds but you should know they all are one ocd and they are connected and if you solve the thing that caused the ocd to you they will all go, even if you take the path of solving the that reason your ocd will slowly vanish, some people may say but I have so many things that cause phobias to me so how can i know the thing that causes ocd to me . the answer is ther is always one main thing that causes phobia and that phobia turns to ocd and the ocd creates other phobias so you just need to remember the main thing that caused the phobia to you and solve it. if you read this comment and your ocd got better or even fully vanished you can give me some tip💵 because it took from me two years to figure out this treatment and i summarized the treatment for you in just one comment and if you want to ask me more questions you can easily contact me on my Instagram: ten598g

      Just chant "Hare Krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare hare ram hare ram ram ram hare hare" × 108 times. 108 times is called 1 round. Chant 4 rounds daily. And see the results in like 2 months. This OCD will be gone. It won't affect you. It will stop eventually. I cured my OCD with this simple treatment. No doctors required. Trust me.       This is one complete mantra.
      If you chant this whole mantra 108 times, it is called 1 round.
      Chant 4 rounds of it each day. Gradually increase the rounds to 16. Like every week, you can increase one round.
      Best time to chant is in the morning. You can wake up early at 4:00 am and chant 16 rounds of it.
      After 4-6 months, you will see the results.
      Believe me or not. This is helping me and it will help you too.

      you have to start to expose yourself to small things that you struggle with , im doing that on my vids and its working. but its hard, id rather be dead some days

    My compulsions are very disruptive of keeping a timely completion of tasks at my job. I feel the need to repeatedly check my work for fear of making mistakes. This is the best and most financially gainful job I've ever had and I can't let mistakes create a reason for my employer to let me go. I'm also diagnosed bipolar with psychotic tendencies. I can never sleep more than a few hours at a time no matter how long I've been awake. There's a lot more but I can't cover my history in a comment

    Is it possible that my dad passed his OCD to me? Before I was born my dad had severe OCD, ahd he was heavily medicated, he's 100% recovered, but I remember as a child he would always tell me to make sure that I did what he told me to, and he would always make me go and check.

    So, as someone with severe OCD for 2 over decades, I have noticed that along with what was said, a healthy lifestyle really helps (water, sleep, and weight management) since chemical release affects anxiety, and is triggered by physiological acts. Gaining and losing weight makes the OCD more active, along with staying up late. I am not sure if this is true medically, just an observation over the years. Anyone know if this is valid medically speaking?
    Also, the ocd is always there, but the waves of it seems to directly correlate with literal food intake. The greasier the food, the stronger it is. Is this a real thing or just me trying to figure out and connecting things just for justification?

      Food does play a vital role. I have experienced it myself. In fact putting on weight increases your obsessions and on losing too much of weight, you lose your control on your compulsions. In fact diet has something to do with OCD. Eat probiotics, uric acid lowering foods, take antioxidants, you well see the difference. Telling you by experience.

    Rather than trying to avoid it...we have learn to live with it...we should have High threshold for the frustrations nd anxiety....
