Thank you, Dr Berg! Very useful information indeed. You are a marvel! Synopsis:
    1. Reduce sugars and refined carbs - leads to insulin - leads to androgens - also creates zinc deficiency - leads to acne.
    2. Reduce grains as Phytic acid lowers zinc and contributes to acne.
    3. Eliminate seed oils (Corn, Grapeseed, Soy, etc) so Omega-6 levels come down. Use Olive, walnut, coconut, almond, avocado oils instead.
    4. Take Cod Liver Oil, Vit D3 15K - 20K nightly, Zinc 50 mg nightly to correct deficiency and help remove acne.
    5. Intermittent Fasting - Eat from 12 noon to 6 pm and fast 18 hrs after that to rid body of wastes and reduce sebum.
    6. To this I would add my own advice: Vit C powder 1/3 tsp in water and Apple Cider Vinegar 2-3 x day to flush out toxins.

I had a constant and serious blackhead problem on my nose and around it since my puberty and with my keto style diet (plus intermittent fasting every day) I was able to get rid of it! I’ve never seen my skin so clear… Another positive impact of this diet that my hair grows twice as fast, and I am hoping that the thinning will at least slow down or even stop. My guthealth is also better which has an impact on every aspect of my life. Another noticable thing is that since I work as a carpenter I often have cuts and all kinds of injuries and the healing process is way faster. Not to mention that my DOMS does not last that long either after my workouts. Big up Dr Berg! Your knowledge helped to improve my health tremendously!!! Thank you!!!

I had terrible acne back in the 1970's. My mom took me to our country doctor. He advised me to wash my face with Dove bar soap, then massage ~a tsp of cod liver oil on my face, then apply cream with a cotton ball (we had our own cows) and let dry. Twice a day.
I was to use Dove soap only any time I washed my face. He said he didn't know why this regime worked, only that it did. Now we know cod liver oil has omega 3's, the cream has lactic acid & Dove is moisturizing, not drying like regular soap.
The results were amazing and I use & share his advice to this day for beautiful skin.

I know my carbs and sugars need to decrease cause I’ve put on 60 pounds in 2 yrs since my husband died. My hormones went crazy according to my naturopathic dr. Any suggestions to calm everything and get bk on track?

I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned, but vitamin E helps tremendously with blackheads. Blackheads are caused by sebum oxidation and vit E is the antioxidant that is most abundant in sebum. If your sebum oil quality is low then you'll get blackheads. If I notice blackheads, I just increase my vit E and they will be gone in a couple days.

Hello, my name is Max and I’m 20. I have struggled with acne since I was 15, I have always had the sebaceous filaments and still do and other forms of acne I had a bigger issue with in the past but I still have some acne on my face most of the time. I have eaten clean for the past 2 years particularly a diet high in protein and fats with common foods for me being red meat, liver, eggs, sardines, smoked fish, milk, kefir, cheese, fruits, fermented veggies, etc..I also have cut out 95% of seed oils, only ingesting them when I go out to eat at a restaurant which is a rare occurrence. Point being mostly animal based sticking to whole foods with minimal processing. I maintain a very active lifestyle and my job has me outside every day so I get plenty of sunlight on top of movement. I don’t take cod liver supplements but from the nutrients you say it gives my diet and lifestyle should already cover my basis for what it would provide. Most days I won’t eat until noon when I have my first meal, then I don’t eat again until later in the day, maybe close to 5 or 6 where I typically start with a small meal and then I will continue to snack sporadically until I go to sleep, which is typically 9 or 10 pm including weekends which means I typically get 8-10 hours of sleep each night. I’ve maintained this lifestyle for an extended period of time and I still struggle particularly with the sebaceous filaments. Can you give me some insight on why I continue to struggle with this issue despite following my laid out procedures?

I want to share an experience to just kinda mitigate the idea it's just carbs that are bad for you, because I did get rid of acne and blackheads in my 20's on a raw fruit based diet and have them again now at 38 on a relatively low GI, but cooked diet.
So basically at 20 I had what we'll call a bad diet to simplify, as well as very little sleep, but quite a bit of exercise (from work and walking/cycling a lot at night).
I came across the ayurvedic diet by Dr.Joshi, which was only chicken and fish 3-5 times a week, lots of half-brown or wild rice, vegetables, bit of olive oil (but not too much either), and well, after I got sick and had fasted a few days I got started on that and it was amazing! For my skin, chronic hunger, for the excess fat/ water retention I didn't even realize I had in my lower body. For the first time in forever, I could see my muscle, lean and defined, I felt slim and cute, didn't have the lethargy anymore, my skin looked bright (oh yeah there was also the morning lemon slice in warm water and the frequent carrot juices and an occasional "liver flush" thing that probably did help.
But then I came across a website that talked about what cooked food did to us and recommended a very specific diet based on raw exotic fruit (plenty, varied), always followed by a cucumber and tomato salad with plenty of olive oil, and each night, additionaly, an avocado with one raw animal product that I won't name because of the many precautions to take. I happen to not recommend this diet for various reasons but I know it did change my life and my vision of what true needs were, although it is just too hard to apply in a Western country in normal life conditions. Also, once a week, I would replace this "desert" by a piece of high-quality, very fresh raw salmon. Within a week I had zero comedones left, they had all "disappeared" by themselves.
I had also stopped all antibiotics and facewashes and derm-prescribes creams for this, and didn't do anything to my skin, not even using water ton wash it, which by the way felt icky for the first 10 minutes in the beginning but normalized itself rapidly.
Actually, I forget that since I was a student at this point, I wasn't always able to eat like that, and I sometimes had delicious English fries (fat fries made from freshly cut potatoes), cooked in decently clean oil, and I didn't add much salt to it. I never got problems from this and fries of this quality were considered in this diet as being an OK to have cheat food, because protein was the worst thing to have cooked, especially if cooked with carbs and salt. Also, sugar without fat. Or consumed After fat. The order was important. Potatoes with fat was quite fine.
So I did this diet for about 7 months and everything was cool, I was less stress than I normally would have been, went to bed at 11pm sharp after a life of being a pathological insomniac - the type who can go to bed at 11am or even 2pm when not having exterior motivations (if so, 5am was still common).
Acne, redness, flaky skin, and filaments/blackheads were halted for all that time. The frontier between the two being much thinner than is said by the way. I still had sebum on my face in the morning. But it wasn't solidified because of water retention in the face pinching the sebaceous canals and dead skin cell fragments.
I don't know how many times I have tried to explain that story to all the people who don't understand the topic of blackheads. Its very multifactorial, but sebum by itself is not really a problem. I have had great skin before, WITH sebum. And blackheads don't cause pimples. Pimples just have some common factors with blacheads. But they're different.
