Back in the 1940's my mom had a bad case of adolescent acne. Grandma took her to a local MD who put her on a diet that consisted of no fried food (broiled, baked, or steamed only), and no sweets. Instructed to eat a wide variety of vegetables and fruits, only one glass of milk per day, one slice of toast per day. She was allowed one plain graham cracker a day for dessert. Her acne cleared within a few weeks. That was the old days when commercial food wasn't as adulterated as it is now, no GMO, preservatives, hormones, antibiotics, etc.

I am going through the same thing..I am 22 now and I had acne ever since I was 13. Been to hundreds of doctors my face is getting worse. From just having acne on nose it has now spread to my chin and cheeks
Edit: I was prescribed Accutane and apparently I suffer from Rosacea. Before getting to know this, I tried cutting out dairy but it did not work for me.

@@vedanti2358 if a change of diet won’t work consider accutane. I know I’ll probably get dragged for suggesting it but I was in your shoes for years… it took a toll on my mental health and no diet fixed it. Your blood is monitored every week and the side effects go away after stopping the medication. Idc what anyone says it was the best decision I could’ve made. This natural stuff is great but it’s not always the solution when it comes to acne.

@@vedanti2358 Hi Vedanti, my acne was the result of hormones and stress (from a toxic family), which resulted in poor eating habits, so I was also missing necessary nutrients. All this resulted in an affected gut and wild hormone surges.
I took vitamin A, zinc, vitamin D, iron and collagen peptide (missing amino acids). First, I improved my gut health (collagen and Vit. D) and drooping muscle issue (with collagen, Vit. D and iron). Next, vitamin A and zinc improved the skin and muscle tone. Acne stopped. I also felt much better.
Plus, intermittent fasting to reduce/remove debris (oxidized/free radical) cells.
I keep reading to learn more about the basic building blocks of the body. If you too are interested, please do read "The Miraculous Effects of Vitamin D" by Jeff T. Bowles. Available on Amazon Kindle. (Can read on the phone.)

I had acne my entire life and last year I decided I had enough, I was done! I couldn't take spending so much money on skin products and not having the skin I wanted anymore, so I did some research and found out about what Dr Eric is saying in this video and went radical with the changes. I cut carbs, sugar and dairy all at once. This was before Dr Eric's video, around November last year. I never truly believed that changing my diet would make such a difference. I thought that it would improve but not solve the issue. But I was desperate and willing to do anything to have clear skin. OH BOY, WAS I WRONG! In about 3 months my skin was clear like has never been before ever since I was 10 years old. I am very Happy that dr Eric is spreading the word! And plus I didn't know about Omega 3 and 6 being involved as well, thank you Dr! (I still use special soap and special hydrating cream for oily acne-prone skin that I was already using before changing my diet, but now these products act more as a hygiene routine and wrinkle prevention). I wish my Dermatologists have told me this before! Thank you again, Dr Eric!

So what did you eat in a day?

    • @Sarinhajd
      @Sarinhajd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +81

Breakfast is coffee with xylitol instead of sugar and omelette with mushrooms, fresh onions and baby tomatoes. Around 10 I get a banana + almond milk (without sugar) + oats + Linseed. Lunch is salad with loads of leafy greens, tomatoes, carrots etc and a protein like fish or chicken. Afternoon I have another coffee/tea and a couple of whole grain cookies without added sugar, and than I try to not have dinner so I usually have just a cup of tea or something like that. When I'm very hungry I boil some vegetables and eat with lemon, olive oil and salt. I need to make it clear that I cut *Refined* sugar and dairy and I try to eat as little as possible the whole grain carbs such as the cookies. I found out that in my case specifically is the insulin spikes from refined carbs such as refined sugar and flour and the pro inflammatory properties from dairy that cause my pimples. So if I have a couple of whole grain cookies is not a problem because they don't cause insulin spikes and I don't seem to have any skin problems due to the cookies. Dairy I did cut of my like completely and every single time I break this rule with a little bit of ice-cream (my weakness), in one or two days I have big inflamed internal pimples on my forehead and smaller inflamed ones on my chin. More recently I have been trying some intermittent fasting routines... I hope I helped.

@@freeaus3902 When I was young, I noticed that my Acne got much worse in the summer months and would go away during the winter. I read that bacteria grow much faster in warm temperatures. Heat activates the growth of bacteria. Try to avoid heat. For example, Do not stand over a hot stove. Do not wash your face with hot water.
I was reading a book called "The Acne Cure" by a Dr. Terry Dubrow. In his book he says to apply an ice pack to the skin. I would apply ice once or twice a day for 2 or 3 minutes. Do not apply ice for so long that the skin swells. He tells why he thinks the Ice treatment works but it doesn't matter why it works, It only matters that it does work.
One important thing to remember is the acne you see on your face today was probably growing below the surface of the skin unseen 3 weeks earlier. Therefore you will need to wait 3 weeks to see the result of the Ice treatment.

Started getting acne at age 12. Never let up no matter what I tried. Cut out gluten and dairy around age 27, and my acne pretty much instantly decreased in severity by about 95%. Continued to have occasional mild breakouts here and there until I started taking vitamin A every day and using retinol. Now I rarely have any significant acne on my face. If you're an adult dealing with acne, cut out gluten and dairy completely. Your skin will thank you.

acne can be caused by a million things. I discovered at age 33 that my acne was primarily caused by
      1. using ANY products above my neck (shampoo, soap, argan oil, organic extra virgin coconut oil etc..), now I only wash my face/hair with 100% water and nothing else. incidentally this also got rid of my permanently irritated/flakey scalp
      2. squeezing even the smallest bump

    • @tubax926

Literally! If you have such a prominent health issue, the first thing you should do is this look at this checklist:
Am I getting enough red meats?
      Am I eating enough greens?
Am I getting adequate sources of vitamins?
If the answer is yes to all, then you should look to lower your sugar and carbohydrate intake. Limit your bread/rice intake and cut out sugary things completely until you understand your body's limits and then you can assign cheat days accordingly.
Seriously, white bread and sugar are the single worst things for human health imo. Fucks up your teeth, your liver, your digestive system, unnecessary calories, causes skin problems and makes you tired.

    • @tubax926
      @tubax926 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

@@headfullofmusic422 red meat is a huge source of iron, zinc, vitamin b12 and protein. You'll have to eat more greens (preferably spinach, so you can also hit 2 birds with one stone with the protein and iron) to compensate for the lost iron. You have to take b-12 supplements since all other sources are pretty poor. Beans, nuts and dairy for zinc (they still provide pretty low zinc percentage, and you'll have to eat a lot of them to get to the level red meat provides, I'd recommend taking zinc supplements too in that case). There are lots of alternatives for protein such as beans, spinach, chicken, fish or eggs so I don't think you should worry too much about that aspect.
Conclusion: compensate iron with leafy greens; compensate b-12 with supplements; zinc with supplements, nuts, dairy and beans; protein can be compensated with plenty of other alternatives.

I discovered that my blackheads were caused by hard water. I live in the midwest in a hard water area. When I went to visit my sister in Seattle where the water is naturally soft, my skin cleared up in two days, after a lifetime of struggling with blackheads. The same thing happened when I went to England. Two days with naturally soft water and my skin was clear. I was able to stop using all of my expensive skin care products and just use whatever soap they had in the bathroom.

I loved this! As a holistic master esthetician of almost 4 decades I teach healthy skin and aging naturally. I am always amazed when my clients come in and their physicians didn’t ask them what their diet is like or what they wash with or do they wear foundation and concealer ( poison for the skin in my opinion) I tell clients all the time you can’t wash blackheads away you have to clean them out properly and actually prevent them. Breaking out does not have to happen and bad skin does not have to happen. Unfortunately in todays world people watch social media or get advice from people that have no practical knowledge of skin and they give advice that is actually very harmful. The moment I take a client off of dairy , sugars or foundation and concealer or simply bad skin care or sunscreen , their skin improves dramatically ( I have Before & After videos that even amaze me) . I loved this Dr B. I hope you didn’t mind my extra skin love.

      Hello 🧡
I recommend sunscreen once your skin is healthy and I only recommend very specific ones with zinc oxide and zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Sun bum, Elta MD or drmtology physical sunscreen.
As for foundation and concealer your skin doesn’t need it. Let your skin heal and the color and texture will get better. Foundation and concealers age the skin and in my almost 4 decades I see it make the skin very sick. In my videos for example, I don’t wear anything I allow you to see real and tire skin. No filters and no lies. 😉

Mahalo Dr Berg. I've always been a firm believer of what goes into our bodies will get reflected outside through our skin, body scent, hair, eyes, tongue, etc. From old village Chinese culture, my mother learned much of the old Chinese anecdotal medicine that had been passed down through the generations and they seemed aware of many of the herbs and that particular type of internal medicine causing inflammation and what not. It dawned on me that back in the day, there were no doctors readily available so everyone in the villages learned about health care as much as possible. There's so much to learn and understand between the blend of eastern and western medicine and how they can work together.

This is right on the ball!!! As usual with all the advice from Dr Berg!!! Back in the 80s, a young man in his late teens that I knew was advised exactly the same. He not only had developed facial acne, but also big blind pustules that turned red with inflammation on his shoulders and upper back. He was quite good looking and a real hit with young ladies, thus he ended up at the doctor's pretty quick.. Luckily, his Dr told him if he didn't change his diet and stay on his advice, it would not go away. And he had excellent success with it. I'm guessing now that his doctor must have been an "old school" and a very good one...

Agree very much with all this. I'm old, 65, but had pretty bad adult acne(seemed to never get out of puberty) and greasy skin. I went keto in 2015 and besides losing about 75lbs, my skin cleared up. Too much almost. Sometimes I kinda know what some black peeps call "Ashy" skin. Only my temples are a little average oily. Besides the cutting carbs, I learned tons about all the fats and fatty acids(and fat vitamins). I totally cut way down on seed oils(almost out) and the key thing here is to REPLACE them with the good oils, Monounsaturated and saturated. These are basically the animal and tree fats, like fish, beef, chicken, lamb, bacon and pork fats(animal fats are roughly 50-50 Saturated and Mono with just a little O-3 and O-6 PUFAs(polyunsaturatedfats), like 5 percent total) and tree fats like olive(mostly Mono), coconut(mostly saturated), other tree nuts, Avocado(mono), High oleic oils bred to have high Monos, not GMO). Besides animal fats, I eat olive and coconut and butter in my morning Chai/blackpepper/tumeric green tea to make it bullet proof. I massively lowered inflammation, zero aches, zero illnesses(got the covid shots but probably didn't need them). On my temples, where my oil glans are a little active, I get these like pure white heads, just oil glands with pure unoxidized sebum. I squeeze them because it still habit, but they are tiny and never inflamed or dark.
I think having a lot of polyunsaturatedfats(PUFAs) floating around in your system, from crap junk food and seed oils, is what makes those oil glands oxidize easily as PUFAs are super oxidization prone. PUFA seed oils get rancid super easy, and even do so inside out bodies, and they rancid PUFAs in your body also make the kinds of sticky LDL cholesterol that likes to plate out in our veins and arteries. Note that even fish oils and plant omega 3 has this sensitivity to oxygen and getting rancid so don't go overboard on them, but most def keep the seed oil Omega 6's, like soy and corn and cotton, and regular sunflower oils. Those oils used to be used to make varnish and Paints and even linoleum. The main Omega 6 FA is linolelic acid, hence linoleum, the patent for is from like 1860's. Don't varnish your arteries!!!!
Linoleic FA is sadly an essential fat, we can't make it, but the essential amount like like 5 gm per day, a teaspoon. Easy to get enough from its association in small amounts in all those other good fats. This essential part has given cover to the Big Agra and Food and medical and drug industries to not ban them, even if they are almost as bad as transfats.

Neem is a natural herb and effective against parasites. Thing is parasites will actually hide in different areas of the body when you try to go about killing them. Fortunately they apparently return to the digestive area at some point for reproduction (iirc)..., so you have to stick to a killing method or agent for quite some time to be certain. In my case, some years ago, I took neem for about 2 months then ate 2 cloves of garlic daily, on an empty stomach - 1 in the morning and 1 at night, (garlic and onions are natural anti-parasitics) for about 6 months - perhaps a bit extreme in terms of length of time, but I haven't had a problem since.
Neem can be found online in capsule form; quality may vary by supplier. Also it messes with the reproductive cycle of things and thus is something to avoid during pregnancy.
One other thing you might take into account is combining your regime with ascorbic acid (vit C) as it will help dissolve the biofilms that some parasites / organisms use to protect themselves, making them easier to target and kill in the body.
Lastly my knowledge here is a bit dated by now as I haven't looked into this stuff for a long time.

Cleanliness is HUGE here. I no longer have black heads because I do the double wash method. First I remove any make up from my eyes etc... using oil. Maybe coconut or olive oil. Then after wiping over my face with a cotton round or wash cloth (gently) I use baby shampoo to wash my eyes (with lids closed of course) then a MILD exfoliant all over my face, followed by a second facial cleansing with a MILD and MOISTURIZING cleanser. I pat dry, apply toner and moisturizer. I do this twice a day about 90% of the time. No more back heads. For women sometimes our hormones keep us greasy on the surface and dirt and oil mix therefore causing blackheads. Whatever you do DO NOT use the pore strips. You will ruin your skin for sure!

On the topical side, blackheads can be safely and painlessly removed by the oil cleansing method. Yes, using certain oils to cleanse the skin to break down the hard sebum plug works. The oil also draws out impurities and does not promote acne depending on the oil combinations. Good for aging skin, too.

    • @alzorama2876
      @alzorama2876 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@intuitionsbyniko7537 What I use is a ratio for normal skin, which is 1:1 castor oil and extra virgin olive oil. I measure two tablespoons each for my size squeeze bottle. I then add a few drops of tea tree oil for an antiseptic.
I read on different websites other carrier oils can be used, such as, sunflower seed oil or jojoba oil in place of the EVOO. Basically, the base is castor oil, then a carrier oil (EVOO or sunflower seed oil, for example). Again, a few drops of tea tree or lavender or any oil that has benefits for the skin can be added, but is not essential.
And, yes, it does work. When my daughter hit puberty, she didn't have too many pimples, but her skin exploded with giant blackheads. I didn't want her skin torn up by trying to remove them, so in desperation, I typed in "remove giant hard blackheads" online and found this method. I tried it on the tiny blackheads on my nose and chin and they seemingly just were wiped away from my face.
The recommendation for oils is on different websites, so if you type in "oil cleansing method." you will find more information on what to use and how to use it.
      Hope this helps!

@@intuitionsbyniko7537 It worked for me. You will find instructions online how to do it, but what I do is gently massage the oil mixture on my face for a minute especially on the blackheads. You can use a facial steamer, but I use a hot washcloth (as hot as I can bear it) and let it lay on my face for a few seconds. I do this four or five times. The last time, I GENTLY rub upward on the areas where the blackheads are. Be gentle because steamed skin is a bit more fragile. I have rubbed too hard and abraded my skin! I will do the hot washcloth a couple more times and gently rub in an upward direction on those areas. The first time I did it, I was amazed how the blackheads just seemed to disappear.
The oil is natural in the pores, but what we don't want is the black top. This will clean off the plug on top. You don't have to do it everyday. Just when you feel you need it is probably enough.
But do look up the method for yourself so that you get the best benefit from it. I'm in my sixties, so the oil method is good for my aging skin. I wish the best!

@@mahaliathompson3639 cut out sugar, intermittent fasting and washing my faces twice a day and applying a bit of moisturizer. This also made me lose 10 pounds a month for 8 months in a row! (250 to 170) I even ate the food I liked (besides sugar) and ate my required calories everyday. Not sure how much correlates to the skin barrier healing but something fixed it!
PS: Self discipline is required! Anyone can do it!

Dr. Berg and team, I read “somewhere” borage can be hard on the liver if eaten. I was growing it and putting it in my smoothies. Now I don’t use it at all. It’s great to grow though! Beautiful and reseeds if flowers are left to die on plant. Thank you.

Those were pretty much my thoughts. I've had moderate success with Eucerin Dermopure Oil Control cream, it tends to leave my skin a bit drier and more sensitive to the sun than I'd like, it does work to reduce acne (on my skin at least), though I still have some black spots.
