  • In this video I pull out the golden nuggets of this book and also explain some of the pitfalls of it. There is a lot of insight into the male psyche regarding how men view women. I think this book has something we can learn from.

A major part of this book was that snorkeling story because he 'cannot protect her'. Only a fool would give up something they love over that type of reasoning.

This was so interesting. Not just the book, but your approach to reading something you didn’t agree with. I could feel myself getting really annoyed at his sexist comments, and that probably started closing my mind to listening to him. You have a great open mind to hearing different opinions, even when they are so counter to your own.

Careful not not to be swayed by unreasonable, or otherwise cultural expectations. One Amazonian tribe has a custom of wearing their mother's skull around their neck on a chain looped through her eye orbit. In the United States you would be jailed immediately. Regardless of who contributes most, if you consistently give the best that you are capable of giving, then you are a good and Worthy individual.

He can write a book like this because especially in the black community (I’m a black woman)theres a boat load of single women. So even if Steve Harvey said for a woman to get on her knees and lick the mud off a mans shoes you’d hear people saying “he’s not sexist hes somehow helping women”. Steve Harvey and many other female dating coaches are womanizers, cheaters, and treat women especially black women like garbage and the constant rebuttal is “sexism isn’t real and your just naive” no your absolutely right to see something wrong with this book. The fact that this book is even allowed to be on the shelves just shows you how people feel about women but black women in particular. Kevin Samuels is another man who has some good advice but humiliates black women on his fb lives. Take some advice but also dating and working with an actual partner is alot better than just reading a book about what is assumed All men are like. Get to know a person and work with them thats your best bet. I got married last year and i didn’t follow or listen to Steve Harvey and my husband is nothing like what a man is supposed to be like according to his book. Also we combine our expenses just saying.

This book is 100% spot on. 1as a man if I cant support my wife without her working then I'm not doing good enough as a man. The man should always make more then your woman. What kind of man are you that your not providing for her? A female is an extension of a male. They work together. If she gets hurt then he gets hurt. Likewise if a man cant take the lead and lead the family then he is no man and does not deserve the respect or title that's given.

So are u saying it's wrong that a woman has to make less and can never be a bread winner? Just bc the woman makes a couple dollars more than her man doesn't make him any less. It's not always about the money. As long as a man has a fulfilling career, that it doesn't matter who makes more. A relationship is not a competition.

Your views are so traditional and heteronormative. What is to happen with a marriage between two women or men? 🤔 there doesn’t have to be a “male” role and a “female” role in a relationship in my opinion, no matter if it’s opposite sex or same sex

@@nataliapola8836That you say its true but you talk about a "couple of dollars", for serving his family a man generally need do hight risks jobs, far form home and sacrifice himself (and also sacrifice his relationship with wife and childs by not be there). Because this kind of jobs pay more. That also explain why men live shorter time.
All society is built for the man role is need to pay things... Of course as you say, it can change if women win very more than men and that they become provider of their family. It's not about sex gender, but it's typically a gender perspective because it the proudness of a man to could provide his family. Also a man that can't do it is simply rejected on most of case. As unumployed peoples, so it have also a kind of social pressure to win always more for secure his family.

@@xiiioet3556 i think one of the two naturally take the role of male or female role. For exemple when you challenge your child and that he is suffering, one of parent incousciously pressure the other partner to stop it. That is a mom role habitually.
It's a team that complete each other. As a man and woman. Relationship is more than a male/woman view, is a cooperation for have a better life and give a better life to the childs (if it have childs).

I'm just finishing this book, and it is sadly how MOST old school men think. This is also why I prefer to date younger men. It's deplorably sexist, mysogonistic, & hypocritical. I can see the dysfunctional dynamics and why 80% of women initiate divorce. It puts all the emotional labour on women, while men get to do whatever they want all while doing their "I'm just a simple man" incompetence-dance. Sorry, but I don't want a simple cave-man who sticks his d*** into everything, then call those women garbage that he seduced and used, then tbink the hard to get girl is the gold standard (while he's a predatory-sl**).

Don't listen to anything Steve Harvey has to say about men. He's pandering to his audience (mainly middle-aged women) and he's going to tell them anything they want to hear as long as it keeps the dollars rolling in. He not going to tell you anything true about men that makes women uncomfortable and he's certainly not going to say anything that challenges his target audiences self-esteem, no matter how necessary a lesson that might be. You may feel better after finishing his book but, I guarantee that you will know less about men after reading it than you did before.

@@HellaBella no the new age feminism hates men, i dont know if you’re living under a rock but we are way past “equality” now women just want to be in competition with men. And I can tell you hate gender norms. But that’s the way a healthy relationship works. Try to loose some weight get some femininity in you and you’ll have masculine men going after you and you will have a great relationship with one of them and they’ll make you feel like a woman just like you will make them feel like a man if you are truly in your feminine and they in their masculine.
