This was tested on real hardware and emulator with identical results.
The 26x options menu is a known bug. However, to the best of my knowledge, the other effects, an explanation as to why it works and the fact that you can do it in SSFII has not been documented before.
Anyone reading this looking to investigate further, I think the RAM Value -2 is actually a net decrease because of a convoluted +7, -6, -3 value change that occurs at various points entering and exiting the options menu and then when moving the cursor on the title screen menu.

Thanks for watching.
This is so obscure and specific, but also fascinating. Desk is a national treasure. Who else would think to cover this in such detail and flair.
whats more interesting, when you enter and exit the options menu 1 time in cyberpunk 2077, you get similar results. the more ya know.
🤣
Nope
Not funny, didn't laugh
HA
Low hanging fruit=grabbed
Mirai Nikki yup
Super funny, laughed

Happy 60th birthday, Guile!
Very well spotted. I'm going to pretend I noticed it too and that's why I uploaded it today.
Wait, Guile is _sixty_ this year?
Dude is 60? Then how old is the rest of the cast? Dhalsim must be like 109 or something I dunno.
Dhalsim is 68.
(his birthday appears at the start of the video)
I do wonder if he's the oldest character in SF2?
He's like Kiryu. The older he gets, the more he can punch people in the face.
2:06 Uploaded on Guile's 60th birthday
He's at home being a family man at last.
That reminds me, are the original birthdays for the characters still valid or were they retconned?
Hey Desk, thank you for the Xmas present with this upload. Today was a rough day for me, and this brought a smile to my face. Never change.
Happy Holidays and merry Xmas to you and all.
I actually remember some gaming magazine mentioning this as a secret mode in the game. I think it was EGM.
Enter and exit the Options Menu 26 times and you'll go to a one round fight with no music.
This is the best combo video on youtube
THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD
"A bug that involves entering and exiting the options menu 26 times."
What high, drunken, magic mushroom mental state do need to be in to find stuff like this?
*MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! desk IS BREAKING STREET FIGHTER II AGAIN!*
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was already playing the file select music in my head before I clicked the video
Alternative title: How to personalize your copy of Street Fighter II
So much years and still find this... awesome
You might be wondering why I entered and exit the options menu for twelve hours, but to answer that, we need to talk about parallel universes...
That's weird.
One of the Japanese words in the thumbnail is simply "Japanese" in katakana, which I didn't think would ever occur.
(it's followed by Sumo Wrestler, so maybe?)
2:41 Although not intentional, the logo whirling out of existence is the perfect representation of the game finally giving up and crashing.
I also thought it'd be written as にほんご, since it's shorter. Go figure.
Well, the word Japanese itself is a foreign word so I guess it makes sense
Having no hud seems like a fun way to fight, until you get those people who know exactly how much damage each move does..
love this tune lol, super fun video man. Thanks!
So this is how you option select?
👏👏👏
Still doing God's work in 2020!
Thanks for this gift!!!
Super Mario 64 game slot selection theme is used in this video
This version of sf2 looks the most retro . Looks cool
"the most retro"...you mean you don't know what a snes/mega drive is?
This is the 1992 Super Famicom/SNES port and back then it was the best home version available. Up to this day World Warrior has no better port available. I'm not considering the various arcade emulations, I'm only talking about a port to a different system. This makes this specific port legendary to this day.
Love the music
That song is wild
I liked for simpler version of Mario File Select Theme you had in an older SFV video.
Found the video. It's an old "Impossible combos" SFV video
Can't wait for SF6 Videos
yeah 2022 is gonna be cool
I remember activating something like this with Game Genie or Pro Action Replay back in the day. Not sure which, 'cause I don't remember whether it was on my SNES or SFC. There were all sorts of weird things you could get the SF games to do with a bit of memory editing.
Dear Desk, sorry to bother you for this, is it possible to download your music starting exactly at 15 seconds (from your download link I mean) ? I would like to add it as my ringtone:)
Thank you so much for your hard work !
2:07 today is Guile's birthday.
Have you ever came across being electrocuted mid-air of the middle of Dhalsim's stage? Happened to me when i was younger, could never replicate it.
Do something with the gundam fighting for the super Famicom desk, greetings and salutations.
This was also published in a Mexican magazine called club Nintendo
I remember reading about this glitch back in the 90’s and doing it on my snes.
I remember thinking I wasted 5 mins of my life.
Ahh... the nostalgia.
Moral Of The Video: Glitches are everywhere if you don't take care of them
If I'm not mistaken you are also the guy responsible for making the intro Tunes to the now-dead Channel known as super couch Fighters. I was wondering where I could find said music on its own
Nice music.
Tough love arena!
Desk brother is this a cry for help. Do you want to swing by for Christmas?
Who has the time to do this.
DESK: preparing another video I’ll watch
FIGHTING:🎮👊
Hey guys, you wanna unlock the super secret hidden character Missingno.? Just enter and exit the options screen 26 times! Totally legit, not fake!
desk, how did you find this? do you use like a disassembler or decompiler to find weird code paths like this?
Lesson to programmers: use signed integers when you should use unsigned ones and Shun Goku Satsu your whole game.
I don't know how he found it, but I read about this in a magazine in the 90s, where it was described as an "invincibility code".
Oh right the music is Super Mario 64
Who in their right mind figures and decides to exit the option screen a specific 26 times to find this glitch?? Lol
Someone in the early 90s did, because I remember reading about this in some game magazine. Me and a friend tried it out and it worked exactly like in the video.
What I wanna know is what purpose does that address serve o.o
Super famicom version ?
I had a 3-way with Zangief and Ken, he was my Masters! Oh yeah!
no hud mode would be great
That's a weird bug.
File select!
SF2 > Cyberpunk2077
I bet this guy can reprogram sf2 at will on a new console.
Soooo fucking random! lmao
crappy snes port
At the time it was pretty awesome
