    The specific number 512 makes me think this is absolutely not intended as 512 is the exact number of values that 9 bits can hold. It seems very likely that somewhere in some hardcore old-school memory optimization, a bit that was supposed to hold something like whether the player is blocking got flipped when it wasn't supposed to, causing the bug. It just makes more sense to me than being intended.

    • @wtfalcon
      @wtfalcon 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Denny of Den Kat Games It just seems really weird to put this in as an intended feature. How does this help introduce newcomers to blocking if they're almost certainly not going to have it happen to them and have even smaller chances of actually noticing it?

  • @ZinfinityX
    @ZinfinityX 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Under different conditions where the object of the game has rps conditions in mind, it might not actually be game breaking to have a standing heavy moves cancel out oncoming aerial attacks. This is a game I'd like to see actually, you know out of the tens of variants that exist in SF alone.
    It would depend on the frame animation of course. Which if we're talking about probabilities of 512 (or heaven forbid 32767) the conditions would be the result of meticulous programming procedures anyway.
    Priority would be a part of that meta game. If you had two people clash wielding lead pipe (think jousting) the blunt force of the clash would reverberate between the two objects and result in the stalemate. The victor of the duel depends on timing, center of gravity, and the angle of the thrust. Torque pressure from the source ( put plainly: how stronk the dude is) is also a critical factor in this scenario. Watch the boy and his beast
    This is the reason games exist, to explore the set advantages and qualities of each character within different scenarios. What I find interesting about this idea of "game breaking" is how homeopathic players want things to be in a world where the characters are intended to be aesthetically kooky and diverse.

    This feature exists at least up through hyper fighting. I caught footage of AI blanka starting a roll and cancelling into block after 1 frame, against a ken jump in fierce that should have beat the roll. I thought it was just the AI cheating after watching one of your other videos, but this video provides a much better explanation of the anomaly. :)

    So out of curiosity, on the clip we see ryu get block cancelled out of his safe crouch heavy against 'sims LP, is it safe because his hurt box would hit sims hurtbox, and therefore gets his hurt box cancelled?

    Also wondering if differnet revisions turned features like this up or down. There was a undumped rev K boardset for sale on klov forums a couple weeks ago. Seems there really was at least that many sequential revisions of the game, also to include the final japanese release which dropped a week before the first release of champion edition. Wondering if capcom expected WW to continue to see tournament play in parallel with CE. Interesing historical tidbits for sure. Keep them coming! :(

    It would encourage strategies where you have to risk an unsafe move with the possibility of being safe, it would be still luck based, yet it could make great tension.
