I miss 90s rogue... She was my favourite. Her backstory probably the best summary of all mutants in marvel. She just want to pork but can't she'll end up comatizing all the men.

One little detail I love is how Gambit gets a slightly unique animation while being kissed by Rogue because of them being a couple in the comic lore, Capcom has crazy attention to detail and always pays insane tribute to the partner companies in all the versus games!
mvc was a great game in terms of playing it. But it was a nightmare of a fighting game engine to make work. It was not designed to handle all that character interactions on screen(stuff like storm dhc freezing the game like crazy,ruby heart glitch,bb hood glitch etc) it also did not help that for some reason they tied the game logic to fps....
@@realamericannegro977 It's the fact that they didn't add more animations to the SF side besides the stun, dash and the shoto fireballs. Had they gone and matched the animations, then it would look a little smoother. The only thing missing on the Xmen side is the crouching idle animation the COTA characters had for the 3 new X characters. If the SF side had the SFA3 animation sprites, then the game would look much more smooth overall.
Yea and modtly time rouge and saber tooth show up they're not even match like the men comic art style design in me children of the atom even marvel super heroes got lucky on that.
Talking about frames, animations, sprites, etc.. it would be so great if Capcom "resurrects" this technique. Imagine 4k sprites with perfect flowing animation? I know games like Skull Girls features this kind of visual, but it would be nicer to witness well know characters instead tbh I liked skull girls, but none of those characters have the charisma of Rogue, imagine compared to the rest of the XvsSF cast? Guilty Gear/Fighterz is the closest to this ideal scenario, KOFXIII is another cool example (but the game is old already)
I remember playing this on the arcade, nailing the Raging Demon and seeing people's jaws drop, they didn't realise Rogue stole not just the air fireball but also the Raging Demon. That was priceless :D

I've been playing fighting games for over 25 years, and the foundation of my love for fighting games has to be the Marvel Vs series, especially X-Men Vs Street Fighter. SO much personality, beautiful spritework, great music, and incredible chain combos that were so free-flowing it boggled my 10 year old mind.
If I remember correctly, if you finish them with Zangief’s Spinning Pile Driver as Rogue, you get the X Super Finish background. It is the only normal move that gets this result (not including the Raging Demon).
This is the reason Rogue was my main in XvsSF. I realize why they didn't want to do this for MvC2 (too much sprites to draw), but if we ever get blessed/cursed with another MvC I definitely want this feature back.
WAY too many characters on the roster for that to have been feasible. The game is already missing frames of animation. What else would you sacrifice for one character to get fancy?

@@aaronjames3228 There was a plotline where rogue back when she was still a villain, stole Carol danvers' (at the time miss marvel) powers to the point where she put her in a coma and flight and super stength became part of her powerset. I assumed she eventually lost those powers since most depictions of her in media after the 90s cartoon (the movies, Evolution, Wolverine and the Xmen) don't show her with them.
Fun fact: Chun-Li's Kikouken changes apperance in her Alpha costume (it has a yellow ball in the center), if Rogue copies her in that costume the same thing happens
I wish they'd kept the "move steal" ability in MVC2 instead of just stat boosts. Obviously, it would've been a nightmare to implement with so many characters ... but damn.

Who else got up every Saturday morning to watch the X-Men animated series on Fox and was mind blown to hear those exact voices in the game. It’s the little attention to detail that made this game THAT MUCH more amazing. Not to mention anime in the US was so hard to come by and seeing X-men and Street fighter in ANIME style art and presentation was HUGE.
Just got the Saturn version of this gem a few weeks ago! Truly an amazing game. As for my fav: I know it isn't a combo, but Rogue breaking out the ol SPD is pretty satisfying!

@@TeamPaul17 It's not just programming. It also includes sprites and animation, especially trying to copy a specific move for Rogue to use from the rest of the MVC2 cast. Now she could copy the rest of the SF characters (Sakura for example), and possibly Morrigan (I can picture Rogue use Soul Fist) and her fellow X-Men and some of the Avengers from Marvel. But the rest like B.B. Hood, Tron, and even Cable, it could be difficult because those characters uses weapons. Then we have Sentinel...
Rogue can also copy special moves in the non-Capcom fighting games, X-Men: Mutant Academy 2 and X-Men: Next Dimension, if you're interested in seeing more of this.
the algorithms know me too well. as soon as i heard the theme play there was absolutely know way i was not gonna finish this video . this is probably still my favorite fighting game ever...music was A1 the whole mash-up was superb for the time period....just wish it was a lot better on PlayStation though

I like how you can tell there are distinct differences between the copied moves and originals. Sometimes they serve different purposes.

Rogue's yoga flame is slightly faster, as well as the Hadouken. Piledriver doesn't go that high. Earthquake doesn't travel as far as Juggernaut's.

XvSF animation is so good. Sometimes it's easy to forget how many missing frames there are in the MvC2 animations of the same sprites.
