This Glitch Took Me 2 Months to Reproduce

  • Here is the follow-up video, featuring a SF2 glitch even more stupid:
    • Street Fighter II Glit...
I couldn't find a single word of this being documented anywhere or any footage of it ever happening. That's why it took so long for me to figure out what was going on. SF2 has been taken apart over the years with pretty much every glitch and system quirk being written about or featured in videos, but I couldn't find this.
Also, I didn't use tool assistance to test this, I had a PS4 controller in one hand and my other on an arcade stick. Then I was just trying to precisely time the attack with P1 with the jump of P2. As you can see at a couple of points in the video, this was occasionally mistimed. So even if '512 guard' would have kicked-in, if I messed up the timing, it didn't matter.
I was so, so close to giving up and being convinced that it didn't work on the 3rd day into testing. Something told me that I couldn't have had this many attempts and not have had it work at least once, therefore, the idea that the glitch was related to '512 Guard' must be wrong.
However, it did work and I learned something I did not know about Street Fighter 2.
EXTRA NOTE: The reason I spent so long trying to reproduce the exact conditions during the early stages of testing is because this originally took place against CPU controlled M. Bison. If you're familiar with the Boss Characters in World Warrior, you'll know that their normals and specials are a little funky and were heavily toned down/changed in Champion Edition. At the time (with no clue exactly as to what had actually happened) I was convinced that it was some rare property of Bison's slide.
    Thanks for watching!

All of this is very interesting because I used to listen to Retro Remix Revue which created high quality remixes of Street Fighter themes back in the day, and I truly enjoyed listening to this because it reminded of it. It seems desk was able to mix themes from multiple character stages within this song, such as perhaps Ryu's theme (0:13 - 0:30 and throughout the whole music), Boxer's theme (1:38 - 1:46) and I swear I also hear Guile's theme (1:48 - 1:53). Very interesting, I play super turbo and this glitch happens a lot while playing as Deejay, while using his slide. I've even managed to kara cancel the slide on the second frame, then into the upkick, as your opponent jumps the slide makes contact and because its cancelled into the upkick I stil get full hits from the upkick but I didn't check if it was a full combo or not. This was vs T.Hawk cpu. Great video thanks!

This happened a few times back in the 90's. I remember this vaguely.
And good to know why sometimes the combos didn't work, apparently they were in pre jump animation. Wonder if I knew this back in the day, I probably did as it probably happened to me.

A super well-made video about a kinda' boring glitch, lol.
When I read the title, I thought this would be as interesting as say, Guile's handcuff glitch. I can't believe you punched Blanka a thousand times just to see if he'd autoblock from a jumping frame, haha.
But you did a great job making this vid and you deserve all the views and subs you're getting from it. =)
