Agreed, coasters are the best starting item for beginners. I did gradually learn more about my laser by working on coasters as a beginner.
Always enjoy your videos and I’ll be adding these to my art library.
One of the first item I made was a D20 Roll for Initiative coasters. Geeked out on it.
I always end up meeting a few fellow gamers because of them. :)
Eric, those coasters rock! I have had my Lasermatic 20 for just over a month and am looking for small projects to learn the art of lasering and this is perfect!
I'm not sure I could COAST through as easy as you.... but I'm going to try. Greg
Mistakes are the best teacher. Make lots of them!! :)
I make 4" coasters out of 5mm maple plywood from HD and sell them for $5. I cut cork sheets from Dollar Tree at 100p/7s for the backs. I also include a plastic plate stand for display.
What kind of laser do you have? I have tried so many times to cut Dollar Tree cork and failed miserably!!
I have a We Creat Vision. Make sure air assist is on.
Would you mind sharing your settings for the WeCreat? I just got mine and love it@@jeffhorn9253
I use polyurethane on mine.
Thanks for the video! Do you put any finish on the wood coasters, like the d&d dice or the cats?
Yes, you can go simple and just use a spray finish. Just something to keep the moisture from getting in. On, nice woods, it will of course make it look alot nicer too.
Do you sell the coasters without stands/holders?
Thanks again for great content.
Yes, I tried to do sets and holders to start with and nobody wanted that. So many people mix and match or buy 1 or two.
Nice tips. Putting felt under cut coaster that the felt will be seen is defeating the purpose of a coasters by allowing moisture to get to the table you are trying to protect.
