Right on Broseph, I’m loving these sample footage videos. Shoutout to the test mule driver burning their gas so we don’t have to. lol Also, the editing team has leveled up their game once again putting all these clips together. 3:58 Coming out of the underground parking garage is a good example demonstrating the dynamic range of the cameras, (really bright to really dark). 5:30 The overhead signs at the airport was another good example demonstrating the benefits of the Mini 2’s STARVIS 2 (IMX675) image sensor. When it comes time for the full review don’t forget to mention the Mini 2 uses the new 5-Pin GPS mount that has the capability to disable the GPS module to reduce power consumption, so it can increase parking mode duration. Oh yeah, the new voice command “LOCK VIDEO” is a welcome addition because it makes the optional $20 Bluetooth Remote almost unnecessary to trigger the camera’s Emergency Lock Button. -Chuck
Invaluable feedback as always Chuck! We hadn't considered framing the voice commands like that, but that's quite clever, as for the GPS, hadn't heard that yet, but will do some testing with our in-house units.
the reason the mini 2 is better can be seen at 4:58 look at the building on the left windows - they are blown out on the v3 but mini2 keeps the image visible. This is the difference between get a plate number in bright light or not.
A119 V3 footage looks much more natural if you ask me. Mini 2 maybe has "better" footage but at cost it's more oversaturated. Night time footage looks much more grainy on the Mini 2, maybe with more detail,., but overall I wouldn't say it's that much better than V3. V3 is special because it looks so natural compared to other cameras on the market.
I am looking for front and rear camera setup. I have 119 mini2 so should I get another for the rear or go with 129pro duo or 229duo or 129 plus duo? I like mini because of the new starvis 2 sensors and it's more future proof. So hard to decide
You can run 2 A119 Mini 2 cameras in the same vehicle, and the great resolution is a big advantage! Still, they would function as separate cameras, and would need to be wired seperately, making accessing both difficult. The Duo setups would be more intuitive and straightforward to run.
@@VIOFO-CS If I already have the GPS module stuck to my windshield from the A119 V3 which uses the micro-usb connector, can I just slide the new A119 Mini 2 onto that older existing module?
Thanks for the comparison. Would like to see a dash cam test in summer Arizona heat. The overheating issues on dash cams in my environments (ARIZONA) are stopping me from getting one. Can you recommend a dash cam for my area? Thanks again for all the great videos your team makes available.
The a139pro has a more natural output, similar to the 119v3. the mini 2 looks oversaturated and overly vivid to me. i have both cameras and its confirmed in a lot of the footage i've seen. the mini is a lot cheaper and smaller than the a139pro though.
Does anyone's Mini 2 say recording started every couple of minutes? I set the loop timer to 5 min. With my old 119 mini 1, it only says recording when I start the car but the 2 says it nonstop. I tried unplugging the power cable from the cigarette ligther and from the dashcam itself but still didn't fix the issue. Can someone help :(
Do you mean that the camera still restarts even if you use the original car charger to supply power? Normally, the restart issue is related to the insufficient power supply. If the car charger cannot help, it is better to take it home to use a wall charger for testing. Besides, what card do you use? Please deeply format it on your computer to confirm if it will make a difference.
Question, are there is dashcams, min-dashcams, etc. that would work well with an aftermarket varifocal lens? Majority of the dashcams still don't capture license plates well and I figured adding a varifocal lens could achieve that.
Hi there, yes I hear where you are coming from. This VIOFO A119 Mini 2 with the latest Sony STARVIS 2 is some of the best quality we've seen out of Dash Cams, and there are a lot of factors that go into dash cam image quality. While I am fully unable to confirm any kind of compatibility between dash cams and varifocal lenses, I can say that people have installed afterkmarket lenses onto Viofo cameras before, the following thread would be a good start: dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/a139-pro-telephoto-remote-camera.47892/
If the other car stops in a wreck, even a cheap camera will prove your innocence. But it is the hit and run drivers that you need to capture their license number that counts. Police don't want to chase after "a blue Toyota sedan" but they will go after license number 123 ABC.
I find it hard to believe that Viofo does not include a windshield suction cup mount for their dash cam. I don’t want something ‘permanently’ stuck to my windshield like their current products.
Hey there, we aren't big fans of suction cup mounts since they tend to fall down in high heat, and generally cause the footage to be shakier than adhesives. For further information on Adhesives vs Suction cups, check out our article here: www.blackboxmycar.ca/pages/adhesive-vs-suction-cup-mounts
What’s the point of having the dual band Wi-Fi? My car has Android Auto, and when I tried to connect a dash cam via WiFi, it automatically disconnected the Android Auto. If I can’t connect both, I’ll just use the Android Auto, not the dash cam.
Hey there, definitely hear you, that is normally how dash cam wifi work, and all dash cam wifi connections will cut out other wifi sources. I can assure you that the camera will fully record and do it's own thing without you being connected to it, and the wifi for this camera will only be on when you manually turn it on. The advantage of dual-band wifi is that 5ghz wifi offers a much more stable and quick connection, while 2,4ghz offers a longer connection range, so you get the best of both.
I like how this was filmed in Vancouver!

Neat. It's the exact same quality as the A119 V3 except the contrast is turned up and the brightness turned down.

VIOFO is still optimizing IQ for the Mini 2, thanks for your feedback.
Mini2 is waaaay better than 119v3 day and night. v3's so-called advantage is narrower FOV.
@@imeprezime1069 natural or not, the main feature is reading license plates. Mini 2 does it better.

Is that a USB-C power connector (finally) instead of a USB mini connector?
Yes, it is.

I'd recommend the U3000 for this. Check out our Beat the Heat video with this model to see this put to the test!

Yeah, definitely not normal and sounds like a restarting issue. Focus on the card as Viofo advised is recommended.
HDR with 30 FPS, or...none HDR with 60 fps, what is better ?
In our experience with this model, the HDR does make a really big difference! Definitely turn that on, especially in night time situations.
To me the A119 V-3 look better I guess it could be my old eyes but good comparison.
Thanks for the feedback!

I have bought a windshield suction cup for determining the most optimal location. It's not that great and lets loose in high heat temperatures.
