    Jenny, thank you for your story. I was Rebecca’s last interview on this channel before you I believe. It sounds like we had an almost identical experience. It was such a cruel time and I found it very unbearable. So thrilled you’re doing so well. I have Rebecca to thank for that as well as sarno, schubiner, and Dan buglio. I’ve taken a step back from this world for the past 3 months as I’ve been so busy with work and life stuff but this work is pivotal in challenging the paradigm of stress illness. Much love to you and your family. ❤️

      Aahh thanks so much for your message Leon. I watched your interview, I found it so interesting, you explain everything so well. Congratulations on your recovery! It does sound like we had similar experiences. Thank goodness that we found this approach! I've taken a bit of a step back from this world also. It must mean that we're busy getting on with living our lives! Lots of love to you and your family also. Jenny xxx

    I can resonate with Jenny. I had the same thing in my 20’s not knowing about mind body and I recovered fully in 18 months but didn’t really know how. This time ( age 48 ) I’m finding it a longer process, but I know I can recover because it happened before! This is how I know its mind body and not a life long illness. This is what keeps me going. I know I’m not sick. Just struggling with the balance between doing things with symptoms and rest / self care as I have symptoms 24/7

      That's amazing that you recovered without knowing how! Sometimes, that can happen when our circumstances become less stressful and more enjoyable. A similar thing happened to me in my 20's actually. You are not sick!! I'm so glad you get that!

    Rebecca said she wouldn’t take back this experience and infact she is better for it, I think it was said in a previous video. Those words really stuck with me and I believe it’s true. Cfs, long covid is actually helping you become you’re authentic self, its a journey to reclaiming you’re life.

With cfs you can’t eliminate potential life sterrors 😅 otherwise we would just be living the smallest life ever 😂 correct me if I’m wrong, symptoms and sterrors can’t be avoided , they need to be approached in Better way emotionally *

      @@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach Dear Rebecca! Thank you for all the work you do! And thank you Jenny for sharing your story!! You two give hope to so many (like me) 💗
      I‘m new to the body-mind-approach but it really clicks with me. One thing I don‘t get is this:
      1. Honor your emotions, sit with them, feel them… and at the same time:
      2. Stay positiv, belief in your recovery…
      Often my „problem“ is, that my biggest fear, is the fear that this symptoms of fear/fatigue/brainfog etc. will stuck with me (if i‘m not positiv all the way and belief in my recovery). For me it‘s a bit like a circle, because as I understood I should not go in the catastrophazing, but at the other hand I would cut off emotions that are really there… Do you have a suggestion how I could handle this situation?
      And: as Jenny said: she had recently anxiety, then thought „what’s behind this?“ figuered it out and the anxiety was gone…
      I also see what is causing my anxiety (a very big part of it is: beeing sick for so long, lost my job, my flat, my partner), but I can‘t do anything about it while I am sick…
      Could you help me with this?
      I‘m really looking forward to your next course. I would love to join.
      All the best!

      @@sophiekrauss Thank you for your sweet and thoughtful message! I'm so glad this approach is resonating with you! Great questions. In Be Your Own Medicine, we learn to distinguish between thoughts and emotions. We want to sit with sensations in the body that are already present (i.e. symptoms or emotions) but observe and potentially shift fear-based thinking that perpetuates the same emotional states. It's very fulfilling and important work!
      I completely empathize about how chronic symptoms can cause stressful life circumstances, and I'm sorry to hear about your suffering. But there's hope! You can still work with the anxiety and other symptoms in a new way, shifting your relationship to it.

    I got M.E after my only child was born. I had a bacteria whilst pregnant and on antibiotics drip 3 times a day the whole pregnancy then a traumatic birth. Also other stuff. When i say i went through absolute hell with continuous insomnia, passing out with fatigue fainting,shingles, bronchitis swollen lymph nodes. My husband had to give up work to look after our son and me. I had mcad face swelling, hives allergic to most food until i did restricted diet and healed it. Severe reflux where the food went into my lungs. Took years slowly recovering listening to recovery stories, putting them into practice. Maybe a thousand pounds on supplements over the years out of utter desperation to heal. I trusted and prayed to God for healing. Our suffering is not in vain..this is for a reason. I am nearly better but still have P.E.M. and alot of terrible symptoms that do restrict my life. I will heed your advice. Godbless everyone going through this. This is a really lovely recovery story. Jenny was wonderful to listen to.
    The one thing I would have appreciated was to hear
    more about her POTS. It was briefly mentioned at the start of the video, but not again. POTS is my most debilitating symptom. It magnifies the fatigue and pain tenfold. It makes it risky to drive. I would love to hear more recovery stories where people have POTS and to get an idea of their specific symptoms and whether recovery came at the same time as other symptoms or whether there was anything special they needed to do to manage the symptoms during recovery - especially dizziness.

      I had that really badly when I was prescribed benzos and elavil for the pain and insomnia of fibro. Doctors insisted it was caused by the MEFM, diagnosed it as. I was fully disabled, often housebound and bedridden for 20 years. Then I tapered OFF the medications, and to my astonishment, began to recover my health. I'd had such dangerously low blood pressure some days I fainted and fell over backwards into a full bathtub, or bed bound because I couldn't SIT up, let alone stand. Getting off the meds make a HUGE difference. I've literally gone from crawling to dancing! Roughly 6 months after I quit - I could stand up each and every day. I felt like a happy toddler - Wow, upright, cool! My blood pressure was normal with NO dizziness. I had the rapid heart rate for some months - it's a typical withdrawal symptom, but I found self-hypnosis helped me calm and slow it, as did constructive self-talk. "It's NOT dangerous. I know it FEELS like there's a sabre-toothed tiger in the room, but you're perfectly safe." I'd do that while deep breathing, and usually went right back to sleep, which is when it was the worst. Chi Gong is wonderful, and shaking and dancing. The former gets SO much stress, anxiety, challenging emotions, and even trauma out of the body, and is used by trauma experts. Facing my feelings and old traumas too made a huge difference. Somatic tracking for emotions and pain is also extraordinary. Best of luck!

    Thank you for this great recovery story. Could you comment on “relapses”? Are we just going to have these relapses forever after we heal, unless we be mindful of our physical and mental health, as far as pushing our limits?
    I recovered from what I think was long covid by month 5ish, minus the mental/emotional bit that was lingering, but now nearly 7 months later, my initial physical symptoms are creeping back up. And yes, I feel like I’ve been pushing myself with life being so busy. So needless to say I’m discouraged.

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear you! It's not uncommon for past mind-body symptoms to flare-up when we have elevated stress. It's human to have some symptoms but they don't have to become chronic again. As you learn the lessons from your recovery (and a big congrats on that!!), it's helpful to integrate them into your life. That way, you can often prevent relapses or ensure they're milder and shorter. Keep doing what helped you before, see if you're missing anything, and know you can overcome this!

    I’m dealing with long Covid. When my body’s been under a lot of stress, I have more digestive issues than I usually do and with my digestive issues it causes me to have PVCs. Is this something related to the mind body connection? The only thing that helps is taking my beta blocker. I have been diagnosed with Sibo in the past. Thank you so much for your videos. They’re helpful and inspiring.😊

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your kind words! 💚
      Digestive issues are very common mind-body symptoms. I had both bloating and constipation for many years. When we're in flight, fight or freeze, our body and brain prioritize other functions. Doctors in this field say that SIBO is over diagnosed and that it's usually mind-body related. Also, many people experience heart symptoms as part of Mind-Body Syndrome but it's important to get all this checked by a physician. As long as you've ruled out a disease process, you can rule in mind-body. Either way, this approach can help calm down the nervous system, which will help with so much more! You might watch Chrissy's video, as she talks about digestive issues. th-cam.com/video/SSXG_LyFjdI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=S4xIUsylJpXWeZz5

      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, That's great that you wake up feeling recovered! In this approach, we don't practice pacing in a traditional sense. We do something called graded exposure, adding in activities in small steps with an attitude of outcome independence (indifference to the symptoms), safety affirmations and somatic awareness. As uncomfortable as it is, the fatigue can't hurt you. You want to retrain your brain that your body is capable of doing more!

  • @jenniferbauer5063
    @jenniferbauer5063 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With long Covid, 12 months fatigue not lifting, doing the mind body work, better than I was. Ive built up over many months to intense exercises but I’m pushing myself to do them through fatigue. Should I really be waiting for the fatigue to release before I do strenuous exercise? I still have heart palpitations indicating the fight or flight nervous system response. It would seem like adding more adrenaline is not helpful. I’m just thinking I’m still pressuring myself with exercise because I’m trying to “talk back to the symptom” to let it know we are ok.

      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jennifer, I'm glad you watched this one! Pressure is generally not helpful and will only scare the brain and nervous system, flaring symptoms. We want to gently challenge ourselves when we are feeling safer, creating a corrective experience. I use the safe zone, challenge zone and overwhelm zone to explain this in my course. You learn when to challenge and when to pull back and let your system find safety. We also have to include the body (not just the brain) since the nervous system doesn't speak in words. We'd love to have you in Be Your Own Medicine and help you find your way!

    • @jenniferbauer5063
      @jenniferbauer5063 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok and the safer zone how do you know where that is? Is that when you feel less fatigue ? I have a very long history of overtraining for triathlon also, this seems to be speaking to actual physical exhaustion not just emotional and mental. Thanks Rebecca my concern with these brain retraining courses is it seems to say that the body is lying to us. I don’t find that to be safety inducing, it scares the hell out of me. I listened to the mind body approach and ignored the fatigue as best as possible for almost a year increasing fitness even through symptoms because I was told to act like it’s a false alarm. I think all I did was keep myself stuck in fight or flight with all the adrenaline from training too hard physically. The fatigue clearly has a message for me that’s not false. I’ve ignored my body for so long, how can I now say “oh this is a false message?” Thank you for your responses, I do appreciate it, and wish I could find the right spot for me. I just don’t want more fear

      @@jenniferbauer5063 I so hear and agree with you! I do not think that our body is lying to us or that the brain is malfunctioning. Sometimes, it's mistaking the level of threat. But, I believe there's a wisdom in the symptoms and I teach from this perspective in the class. I teach how to tune into your nervous system and honor your body rather than push through it. Yes, we want to challenge perceived limitations but only when we are ready in baby steps. Have you looked at my Success Stories page? You'll get a sense of my approach there!

    Rebekah I need to know if mental issues is part of this. I other things I already know that are because of others but these sudden depression or anxiety and being sucked inward to my thoughts seeming I have no control of them and hopeless is overwhelming. I NEED to know if others had this and got better

      Dear Vanessa, I do see people with anxiety and depression finding great benefit in mind-body healing! That said, it's also important to seek support from a trained therapist for moderate or severe anxiety or depression, alongside this work. Wishing you well Vanessa. 💖

    Wish i could find a good somatic tracking audio that i could buy to download. I cannot afford a whole programme . I used to use jim prussack, but he has now got adverts recently on his somatic tracking youtube videos which makes it impossible for me.

    You need to listen to "experts" but you need to listen to your own body and innate knowledge - because you are also an "expert" - and then you need to make your own independent discussions.

      Absolutely! You are the expert on yourself! I encourage people to follow their own inner voice and knowing. That's your healing path. It will also bring more empowerment + safety!

    Thanks for bringing up the pacing topic, the spoon theory and pacing around it made me so much worse!

      You're so welcome! I'm passionate about dispelling the spoon theory as it just trains the brain that activity is dangerous. Glad you figured this out!
