I understand that this video is made for Americans, but as someone from Central-Europe it is interesting to see that this apartment is viewed as being "cheap". :D Sadly, a 680$ apartment is only affordable for high-earning (high-middle income) citizens if they wish to live alone without sharing the place.
@@ricardopalma3714 I know and it's shocking. The USA for me seems one of the best countries to live in if you are rich, and one of the worsts (among first world countries) to live if you are poor. As a physician I would likely have a higher quality of life and a much higher salary for sure in the USA, still I can not speak against my own country (Hungary). I came from a low income family, still I had the chance to study with full governmental scholarship in the best medical school of the country. So I basically got my degree at no extra costs. Beside that they provided me a student shared college dorm room for around 35$/month (no extra cost) that had a gym and free wifi. So I can not complain. Still I don't know which one is the better system. Maybe a perfect system does not exist.
@@davidm7201 the better system would be countries like Canada, Denmark etc. You certainly make a lot of money in the US but life stressors would also be high. Canada has the best of both systems.
@@TwiinStar1224 These prices are hard to compare. Here we have a starting salary of 1200$/month after taxes as a junior medical doctor. So if you take this into consideration, even 680$ is still a high price to pay for only housing.
This reminds me so much of my time abroad. I studied in Spain as an undergrad student, then went back again for a year to work on my master's. Both times were the happiest I'd ever been in life and I cannot wait to relocate permanently in a few years. I plan on going back again this summer for the first time in five years. Only a few more years of sacrifice while working and saving on a teacher salary left. This summer is going to be such a treat! Thank you for sharing and for the inspiration!
I loved Croatia when I was there in 2018. Spent time in both Split and Dubrovnik but preferred Split and would go back in a heartbeat. Loved watching this!
Been to Zagreb, Dubrovnik & Split, in 2019. Loved all these cities a lot. Hope one day I will return to spend good 4-5 years of stay. Magical beaches & slow pace of life. It's just the best place in the earth!
I have a American friend who is writer and researcher and she lives in Zagreb as well. Amazing person. I think you would love to meet her and get her experience with living in Croatia for the past 10 years.
That’s old news-rents have gone up but it’s still cheap comparing to North American big city rentals. I live in Toronto and the rent for the apartment of that size would be at least $2,000 and more if smack on downtown!
Plus, I would say this is the price for the appartment big enough for a family with a kid. A couple or a single person could definitely use something smaller and cheaper, with all the amenities and at great location. And, have in mind, this is the centre itself, he is 100m away from the government. So there are also so many cheaper options just a bit further away.
I saw the electric washing machine, but I didn't see the dryer. Was that the dryer off of your balcony, the cords of rope hanging over the balcony of your apartment?
Questions: where do you dry up your clothes? $75 a month for gas seems pricey for two burners and a 700 sq ft place. Why didn’t you choose Kiev instead? How hard is it to get the nomad visa? How much for a bigger place like 1000 sq ft? What is your monthly expenses in Croatia vs New Jersey?? Good video!

Apartments like that in Los Angeles area are around 2,300/mo excluding utilities

Loving these nomad and expat profiles. Croatia is such a beautiful country.

I feel like I barely saw the apartment. Like why show a split of 3 portrait videos instead of a nice landscape shot?
The panoramic view is stunning. “Work life balance..” 💯😎
Great idea and choice!🎉
More like $860 per month when including all the other expenses but I guess $680 in the title is more click-worthy
Either sum is attractive.
Beautiful place and so affordable, I really like Spit since it on the Adriatic Sea
in the philippines you can rent $40 a month beach front
Lol. Where, Tondo?

Hasn’t this one been uploaded before already?

I live in the outskirts of London and pay less than that. Why should I move to Croatia, assuming Croatia would accept me.

Funny guy from US. Laundry machine is by default everywhere in Europe :))) We can allow laundry machine for us ;)

yes, people dry clothes mostly on cords/rope what ever you call it in Balkans, only few are using dryer (almost no one)
$75 for gas and $10 for electricity? Seems like it should be the opposite.

I'm pretty sure it's a washer/dryer combo.
There is a drying rack under the window at 2:49

As of right now if you make around $2,500 USD per month, you qualify for a digital nomad visa.
I think he must be glad he didn't choose Kiev instead...
I love it!
Congratulations!!!
Does Croatia have a good health care system?
Better than USA
The digital nomad has such an idyllic feel to it - kudos to folk embracing it - also great to know you cooking - as fantastic life skill
Next step would be Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina
appreciated the video! very encouraging for moving to zagreb :)
it's a very good idea if people got to setup some stuffs aside for themselves that could be bringing them money apart from their business

If only $680 a month apartments were available in New York City.

much cheaper now. If you live.
