Jordan Cann, your comment though witty lacks depth on this PanAfricanist platform. Opportunities cannot be created without a substantial yet balanced infusion of the essence of equality, which is its vital driving component. You must, realize that opportunities created within a predominantly divisive and marginalized environment, tend to be opportunities stifled and lost in anticipation, due to them being stripped of all expectation before fruition.

To the victor, goes the pen. In other words; he who wins war, rewrites history from his perspective. A thriving society in the ancient world would have been the object of jealousy and envy; therefore, the history, writings, art, culture, and self-esteem of a that thriving society would have been targeted. Entire societies tricked, conquered, colonized, and hijacked of their identity, resulting in that society's destruction. This has been the common practice of the European throughout history.

white civilisations have no obligation to include black history. we should start looking at ourselves like the Chinese, Indians, Koreans, Africans. integration is kind of a lie. let's stop expecting our history to be included in European and American and British history. although African Americans are part of America. it's 2017. if you're not included today...then you never will be...start appreciating but separating yourself from THEIR history and create your own

I am a white high school student from Texas and captivated by history. I have spent most of my spare time reading everything I possibly can about the subject. In the past few years I have managed to read all about European history, American history, Muslim history, and Chinese history and I can definitively say that it is extremely hard to find information about African history aside from Ancient Egypt, or European colonialism. In what little I have been able to find, I can easily say African history is just as rich as European history, full of great societes (like Mali or Benin), great people, and profound events that changed the course of the continent. From this I can say that it is important that we promote this lost history so that we may finally move forward from the atrocities of the past and learn to see eachother not as black or white, but as humans and realize that we have more in common than different. Race relations seem to be deteriorating in this country which is quite unfortunate as it threatens the advancement of out society as a whole. This video makes a great point; it is important to be able to be proud of who you are and where you came from, (I personally, am proud of my German heritage) and people of African descent do not share that luxury with me. So I look forward to uncovering and learning more about the history of this great continent. ❤

There are two pertinent elements to history, what actually happened and the recording of it, without the latter there is effectively no history. Until the arrival of Arabic Muslims and later Europeans black Africans never recorded their own history because they could not read or write.

I am grateful to G-D for this man .
I am a child of the 1940s . We still had amongst our mentors the creators of The Black Renaissance. Every major Black leader and their students lived in our lives during that period . Did great recovers of a fallen humanity disappear ? No . This man and thousands more are the proof .
The question then is asked , "Are the people responding to these wonderful men as the people responded to : The Niagara Movement , The Moorish Science Temple , The Temples of Islam in N.America , The U.N.I.A. , Core , SNCC , The World Community of Islam , The S.C.L.C etcetera ? I would have to yes . Why ? Because relative to the group size of the injured and maimed the membership of these activists groups were always relatively small . But the practices of the immediate followership gradually enveloped their pondering brethren a nd when the workers looked up again they realized their goals had been met or the stages were set , irreversibly , to usher in a better day and a better way .
I will share this mind with as many people as I possibly can . I believe a day is coming when we will speak of our major problems in the past tense .
Also , the commentary is decent and sensible.

In western countries, it’s gotten bad enough that some Africans call for diversity in European history, just to feel included, regardless of historical accuracy.
African history is actually really cool. The African community needs to revive their culture.

High Personal Esteem and High Racial Esteem. I’ve always believed that many Black people hate seeing other Black people because it reminds them of who they are - a Black Person and they are trying desperately to hide that fact. I try to acknowledge every Black person I see, but I have the feeling that is not enough. If I try to engage them in conversation they become hostile. I’ve been walking down the street and seeing another black person approaching me and I could feel the anger. I have to not make eye contact as he would literally attack me. I wish there was something more I can do. Thanks for putting it into words.

J B , if young people stop opening their minds to the subliminal excreta that this nation and the world feeds them. As a Black man with five children it's my responsibility not allow garbage to enter into the minds of my children. I and my wife must be the most impacting influence upon them not friends or the world. I tell them to be pro Black is not anti white . It is not a sin to love yourself and be proud of your glorious history. No school system will capture the minds of my children. When I visit their school the teachers remark . We see why your kids are militant. Don't give your children minds away !!!

      Obvious to you.
I can guarantee that there are many people who would be greatly impacted by this video.
What is obvious to you is only obvious because you've been exposed to this information before.
Not everyone has been exposed to this kind of information. Just because you have, don't assume the rest of the world has.
Children under 25 won't know what chicken pox was. They will just assume that no one knew what it was. But anyone over 25 years of age knows full well what chicken pox was. The difference is the personal experience.
Don't assume everyone shares in your experiences.

Writing blacks out of history is still going on. The African diaspora has contributed immensely to popular culture, fashion, music and dance in the Americas and Carribean in the last 200 years, which has had global impact in the last century.
In the USA Rock n Roll, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Blues, R n B, Hip Hop, Rap, Doowop, Neo-Soul etc. where all invented or pioneered by the Afrodescendents.
In Latin America, the impact is even larger. African instruments like the Marimba and various percussion instruments like shakers and drums have become staples and national symbols. The Cajon box Drum was invented by Afroperuvians and later adopted by Flamenco artists, whom people today assume invented it.
The so called "Latin" rhythm and feel of Salsa, Cuban Rumba/Son, Bolivian Saya, Brazilian Samba, Dominican Salve/Palos, Peurto Rican Bomba, Argentina/Uruguayan Candombe, Musica Criolla in Peru, is all pioneered by African diaspora based on African musicaltraditions. Brazilian Funk, Reggae, Dancehall, Calypso and Reggaton where pioneered by Afros.
Yet the "black" roots of most of these has been overshadowed or completely erased. And majority of these societies love "black" culture but are prejudiced towards blacks.

Recognising the importance of history is good. That hopefully means recognising that everyone’s history is important and also recognising that anyone else’s history doesn’t have to be destroyed in the process. There isn’t a limited supply of history! It would also be wrong to have one-sided or biased coverage if your going to bother at all. Remember the corruption and internal slavery that has happened for generations and is still going on today, depriving many people of the life they would like to have whilst lining the pockets of a few.

European's write about European's, Chinese write about Chinese, Even American Indians write about American Indians. I'd really like to see Africans write about Africa without writing about blaming Europeans for everything, because.. European's are not responsible for all the awfulness in Africa. The thing about Africa is, the Islamic Conquests which lasted between 650 and 1650 were not successful in Europe. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella drove the Muslims out of Spain, the Holy Crusades were all about driving the Muslims back to the lands they came from. But in Africa there were no such Armies.
Egypt fell in 650 to the Muslim invaders and to this day so much about Egypt's history, religion, culture is a great mystery. The only thing that remains is what Archaeologists have dug up.. from underground or what was to massive to be destroyed. Or, what was written about by ancient historians from other cultures... and this is the only record.
You can still see today which Nations in Africa were conquered between 650 and 1650 by the Islamic Conquests because they are still Muslim Countries. When they were conquered the Muslim Invaders enslaved, murdered and destroyed the histories, the religions and the cultures of the people they conquered. They still do this today. But, in the past, when Africa was conquered and between 650 and 1650 hundreds and hundreds of millions of Africans were sold into slavery. The African Slave Trade was started and was continued by these Islamic Conquerers.
This information isn't taught in high school, though it should be. This information is not hidden, it can be found easily with your own research and I highly urge you to do so.
As much as African Americans have been encouraged to blame Whites for everything it may behoove you to learn a little bit about history on your own because when you don't, it makes it really easy for those who would manipulate you... to use and abuse you for their own destructive purposes. If you've learned anything in your own live... you've learned to watch out for the predators around you... just a heads up people.
Something to think about: Before the Islamic African Slave Trade ended White people around the world were working to end Slavery. Indeed, it is because of White people that Slavery Ended. Slavery continues today in Islamic countries. Is anyone up in arms about this or only about the long ago past? Why? Is there any logic to this? Food for thought.

The Barbary slave trade refers to the slave markets that were lucrative and vast on the Barbary Coast of North Africa, which included the Ottoman provinces of Algeria, Tunisia and Tripolitania and the independent sultanate of Morocco, between the 16th and middle of the 18th century.
Perpetrated largely on Europeans, and within in-land routes to indigenous European inhabitants. These peoples were systematically preyed upon and turned into slaves, acquired by Barbary pirates during slave raids on ships and by raids on coastal towns from Italy to the Netherlands, as far north as Iceland and in the eastern shores of the Mediterranean.

As the Roman Republic expanded outward, entire populations were enslaved, thus creating an ample supply from all over Europe and the Mediterranean. Greeks, Illyrians, Germans, Britons, Thracians, Gauls, Jews, Arabs, were slaves used not only for labour, but also for amusement (e.g. gladiators and sex slaves).
Slaves represented 15-25% of Italy's population, mostly captives in war, especially from Gaul and Epirus. Generally, slaves in Italy were indigenous Italians.
