Since your reveiw, the D8 now has added topology and can graph 6 pids at a time and I've seen it go for under five hundred now for the wired version. It's an incredible value these days; even more than it was before. They do have bt (bluetooth) and wifi/ WLAN versions now, but they cost quite a bit more.

Initially, I was going to get the D7 scan tool after checking out one of your videos, but I got this D8 instead. I don't regret this at all, as this is an awesome tool for my needs.
I don't have a shop, I just have a couple of vehicles of my own, but I also help my friends out with their vehicles too. I've only had this for two months, but I think I made a good choice.
Your videos have been very helpful for me as I'm trying to learn everything I can about how to use this tool to its maximum potential.
For example: I just helped a friend at work diagnose his Honda Insight rocker arm solenoid issue on the "B" side of his engine. Hopefully, I saved him some cash from taking his car to a shop to get the problem diagnosed and repaired. A $50 part and a little elbow grease and he's good to go. If needed, I'll erase his trouble codes after he installs it.
I never thought I'd own something like this, but now that I do, I'm asking myself; why did I wait so long?
Thank you for your reviews, and X-Tool is pretty awsome to make something like this for a hobbyist like me.
By the way, I am going to order the extension cable and endoscope for this D8. The cable is limiting because of its length. And the endoscope will help me look into my combustion chambers and piston bores to inspect the condition of them. It will also come in handy to inspect the throttle body and intake passages to see if I need to take that apart and clean it out. That's just the beginning of what I'm thinking of using it for.

RANDOMFIX, This is a great review. I have been looking for a DYI "Professional" style OBD II diagnosis scanner. I believe this one is exactly the one that I am going to purchase. i heard the xtool a30m is a bluetooth version on this and only costs $200 as most the cost goes into the pad.that would ake the a30 perfect for diy in for the price probably the best,thinkdiag is just as good and probably a little better but a huge problem is thinkdiag has you buy yearly subscriptions for each make where xtool is free for all

Glad it was helpful! the key fob programming was not success, again the best advice I have is always email the vendor and get a list of support features. My car was not supported.

The d8 does for sure but honestly I would contact the vendor ( check my video links) and send them your vin and they will let you know what can be accessed on your vehicle. I provided some coupon codes as well.

@4:00 I thought it was just the "ECU configurations" button which isn't in the D7 model, I've seen the "EEPROM" button in the D7 in other videos.

James, I tried it wasn't available at the time for my vehicles. So please email the vendor before you buy and send them your vin, there email should be in the video description.
Once you scan for your VIN and select where the car destination was, can you save a profile for that car, and any other cars you own?

Yes it can do and at the same time it's limited only to certain vehicle..in the videos description is the email to vendor. So email them and send them your vin make and model and ask for a listed of supported features for your vehicle.

2011 lexus is250 awd. Have winter tires on stock wheels w/tpms. Getting summer wheels for my summer tires, want to add tpms. What's a good brand of tpms sensors and also a relearn/cloning tool
It depends on the frequency supported.
Can you do a force regen on dodge vehicles? Because I have a 2014 ram 5500 and the d7 wasn’t able to force regen it. I had to use my autel 808

Does it do live data on body control module for gm? And can it program bcm components as well? For example recalibrating passenger pressence weight module for the abs? I have an innova 5610 too limited for me.

Will this tool program modules? For example Ford 2016 F150 electric power steering module, when replacing the Rack and Pinion. (assuming that it can read from the replaced controller) Will it program the fuel pump control module on a Silverado?
I didn’t try those modules but the only you will know if emailing the vendor your vin and asking for a list of supported features.
Will the tool program replacement TPMS wheel sensors, or does it just reset/recalibrate the computer?

how is the throttle relearn works on old cars. i recently got cheaper version A30M similar to D7 to relearn my Idle air control after i replace it, I can't get to relearn without obd tools on pathfinder 2001.
i didn't receive the tool yet. but I noticed the special functions are different between D8 and D7 even if the titles are the same when going to specific function like throttle relearn you will get more options like IAC relearn that is extra on D8.
do you know if d7 or A30M could do it as well as D8 or no luck for me?

I saw 27 special functions. Now the D8 BT has 38 special functions, though VIN Writing and Odometer read are not included. Do you think that they will add those two special functions with future updates?

I all most bought the D8BT cause it’s wireless. And cause it says it does ecm coding witch would be nice to use used ecm’s. I went a head and bought the D9 Pro just because I wanted to be able to do ECM coding & ECM programming. Cause I need to replace 2 different dodge ecm’s hopefully it does what it says it will do.. Won’t know until next week if it’s as good as some of the other reviews have said.. That and I need to make a few keys as well.. Witch I bought a key cutter so I could cut my own keys for adding extra keys.. The D9Pro is BT and Wired obd..Fingers crossed..Says it will do everything that the D7, D8, D8BT and D9 will do and so much more.. So will see lol 😂

I'm just trying to help YOUR viewers. Every time someone asks a question, instead of answering the question, you reply with "did you find a solution". Not very helpful I'd say. I would think with a reply like that, you don't really know the full capabilities of these scanners.

Xtool offers a lot for your money. The D9 looks nice but I have not tried myself to give an honest opinion of it.

Does it support reprogram keys. I have bought 4 different cars in 5 years. Each has come with one key. I went to dealerships to purchase second key and each one costs me 450$+. Ridiculous, even the2010 Jeep was 100$ for second key. I’m thinking I need to be able to creat my own keys…. Thank you for your time and effort in making the video.
Please email the vendor all of your vin numbers and ask for all supported features for each vehicle. Also you may need to purchase addition equipment for the key programming

The D8 does Not charge thru the OBD2 connector. At least my does not do so. I wish it would tell me if my trouble codes were Active or NOT.

I think the reason your VIN scanner didn't work was because it's looking for the sticker on the door jamb that has a barcode (driver's side). Scan that and I bet it'll pick up the VIN.
It didn't work. Still a good tool, just needs for development which is happening every time I use because it's always getting updated.
Can you reset an airbag light, with a crash data. With this tool?
You can delete crash data but some modules will need to be sent company that are listed on eBay to be serviced

The bluetooth model is out. I bought it. Do not get the wired version. SO much nicer than having a stupid cable around your feet if you’re trying to scan while driving. Plus i don’t need to be in the vehicle to work with the scanner.

When you opened the box your card said "2021"so it looks like one year gone (Mar 16, 2022 right now). If I buy one of these could I get something that has been on the shelf for a year or two thus reducing my 3 yr updates period substantially ?
They go off actuation date on most scanner.

Does the D8 support I/M readiness monitors for any car? I can't find it anywhere for a 2015 2.4 Kia Sorento. Trying to get an informed answer from their tech support is very frustrating.

Can you tell me where I can find the monitors on the D8? I replaced the cat on the above-mentioned car and the fuel system monitor is the only one not "ready"... just failed inspection again. I'm flying in the dark if I can't determine if ready or not.

I think the real range for the bi directional features of this scantool is 2006 and newer. Most vehicle are canbus after 2006+
If you can on a budget but want what the D7 had to offer minus the key programming, the XTOOL A30M is around $200! I made a video on it with a discount code if you are interested! Cheers!

@@ronaldkakande6315 no the A30M. Yes the D8 has a Bluetooth version but I'm not talking about that.
My D8BT-001830 has no option for a 2007 Dodge Sprinter (NOR DOES IT HAVE AN OPTION FOR ANY SPRINTER). Also, It will not find it in Autoscan or Manual. (It does work fine on my 2010 Chrysler Town and Country). Is there an update that adds my vehicle? I specifically bought this xtool because it is advertised as the best Sprinter scanner. Apparently, it is not.

Mine was a 2019+ VS30 907 Sprinter.

Is it covering remove crash data of SRS module?
For that most of the time your need to send it a service on eBay for example. I’ve had to do this for honda and ford. But I have not tried to clear crash data with this scan tool but I think it involves a bit more than just clearing data. Let me know if I am wrong.

@@RANDOMFIX I did, the XTOOL D7 and D8 don't work for the 2000 Lexus RX300. I have an alternative method I'm using, though. I'm following this process, and currently getting ready to learn and do the soldering for the job.

The D8BT has 38 special functions. Do you think that they'll be adding more functions to the D8BT with more update in the futures? By the way, Xtool D9 has 42 special functions. I'm pissed off because the D8BT does not have the Vin Writing, Odometer read, Nox reset, etc. That means I cannot swap ECUs because I cannot copy the vehicle vin# to the used replaced ECU.

I all most bought the D8BT cause it says it does ecm coding witch is putting the vin numbers in used and new ecm’s. I went a head and bought the D9 Pro just because I wanted to be able to do ECM coding & ECM programming. Cause I need to replace 2 different dodge ecm’s hopefully it does what it says it will do.. Won’t know until next week if it’s as good as some of the other reviews have said.. That and I need to make a few keys as well.. Witch I bought a key cutter so I could cut my own keys for adding extra keys.. The D9Pro is BT and Wired obd..Fingers crossed..

I returned mine after 2 days. Limited bidirectional. Drove my 1997 lincoln town car “crazy”. I went back to my Autel, even the Autel is not bidirectional.
I think he said in the video,he thought bidirectional was only supported back to 2006,he wasnt sure,was wondering myself since mine is 2005!

Yes but you don't need to update to use it. I would update before it expires and you can still use you just won't get the newest update which is often okay unless you are working a brand spanking new cars.

I just received my D8. I was very excited but things took a bad turn. After completing all the downloads I connected it to my 2002 grand caravan. IT COULD NOT communicate with the PCM. It gives me a message of "Received an invald response". It did however communicate with the TCM. My little bluedriver does communicate with the PCM. I contacted technical support and they have not answered or responded to me on this issue. So far this thing is useless to me and frustrating. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Just email the vendor your vin and ask for a list of supported features. Buy on Amazon Incase you run into any issues you can return without grieve on Amazon.

The scan tool can only display data that the vehicle's onboard computers (ECM, BCM, PCM, etc.) monitor. Some have access to data such as temperatures, pressures, etc. while many do not.
