Agreed to buy Samsung Care+! It's saved me, with the S22+ and with the Flip 4. Given though, I dropped the Flip multiple times and that last drop really killed it lol. Note that there's now a guarantee for a first time discounted screen replacement. I'm thinking of trading in for the Flip 5 now, hmmm.

I traded in the Flip 4 for the S 23 Ultra, primarily because I found the front screen to be pretty useless. Although it is a superior phone, I'm trading in the S 23 Ultra for the Flip 5 - I was really spoiled by the "carryability" of the Flip format. (Sammy is offering $900 trade-in, which is $49 more than I paid for the Ultra, leaving the cost of the Flip 5 at $99.)
Wait, how's this possible? The Flip 5 is $1,799. I currently have Fold 4, and the trade-in value is $1000, which leaves me with a balance of $649 with the $50 pre-order credit. So, how is your balance $99? 🤔 your math ain't mathing.
I just put my hands on z fold 5 at my local Bestbuy and it is Lighter in weight and the screen gets brighter and the crease was DEFINITELY LESS NOTICEABLE, U can almost not see it or feel it... and could not see or tell the inner screen protector was there... this is compared to my z fold4.. I'm actually impressed about the crease being less noticeable..😮😁👍WOW..
I'm still on the fold 2, and it's on it's 2nd internal screen as the first began to fracture after 18 months. There's no upgrade path for me here either with samsung, so regrettably I'll have to buy from a competitor, and also means I won't be upgrading my galaxy watch either.
@h4xe7reac75 The fold 2 and 3 external displays are virtually identical in size and dimension. 15.8cm vs 15.7cm. You're not going to notice any visual differences when the difference is just 1mm on the diagonal, even if you put both devices side by side. It's the fold 4 which had the slightly wider, yet still no usability difference than the 3. Here we are again with the 5 and the same lack of interest by Samsung in making this a phone when closed, rather than a small portable tablet which can fold in half.
Definitely glad to see improvements to the camera processing. The updated cpu seems to handle 8k much better, not sure how many of us shoot in 8k but could be good for future proofing memories so to speak to go back and view at full res when 8k TV's are more mainstream.
8K TV's will never be mainstream. Hi res was verified by the market and nobody needs/wants them, just like 3D TV's. 4K is pretty sufficient and we have to note that there are still plenty of sources which don't fit even 4K res.
I've been using Folds since 2, and I'll be getting the terabyte version this time but probably skipping next year's model unless there's something huge.
Been using the Z Fold 3 and I CANNOT go back to a traditional phone ever again. My youtube channel/Tiktok channel is basically all filmed, edited and uploaded using this thing. Which is why I'm soooooo hyped for the Z Fold 5!
I had a zFlip3, absolutely loved it, but the battery is what ultimately made me move away from it. Since I have moved to the 23 Ultra...but really considering the Fold next
@@PharmArtist99at least with the fold 4 I'm able to make the phone last a full day easily without needing to charge the phone but if you use your phone to play cloud gaming or games like fortnite and cod mobile like I do use something like a steamdeck dock that'll charge your phone at the same time as you play and if you have a 120hz monitor it works so well!! I have a 24in 120hz monitor I use and with a wireless Xbox controller the gaming is on par with a console. You can also plug in an Ethernet cable to the majority of docks for a hard wired connection for even smoother gameplay

@@PharmArtist99i've had the fold z 2 5G for 3 years. No scratch on the main display and no broken battery. Although it didn't lasted a full day anymore after 3 years. No other phone survived me as long in all these years (started at the samsung galaxy plus) as the fold 2. Switched to the 5 now and i couldn't be happier.
the flip is terrible, its exactly like a normal brick phone but now everytime you want to really use it you have to flip it open. Why anyone would buy this is beyond me.

Also when we had flip phones, we used them far less because there was nothing to do on them but call or text people. This year will be my first fold. Sticking to the 512GB, my current phone is 21+ 5G 256GB still habe not hit my 256gb mark so 512gb should be enough. I'll be using it mainly for gaming and my work.

I love the Flip 5 with both its screens and when closed the outside screen can be utilized as a quick use screen to access apps and widgets on the Home Screen that will be useful for everyday life.
Buy a used Flip 4 for $350-400, trade it in for $900 toward cost, use $50 off reserve code, spend $50+tax for the Flip 5. Only during the preorder period of course That’s what I did. Spent $405 total for a Flip 5!

So dope I love later cases I had one on my s22 ultra I had the black one in the crimson and then for my s23 ultra I just got the crimson one such an awesome feel The only thing I would like see with the later cases is a little more protection on the corners and sides I definitely recommend them to a lot of people and they're not badly priced either
There is literally no difference except a thinner hinge to my Z Fold 4. Pretty insignificant update from Samsung tbh. We need a bigger fold device with the S-Pen integrated into the phone like the Note and S23 Ultra. Even it means using a smaller pen and also having the option to use the larger one that clips onto a case like before.

There was no point to re-release a fold. It's exactly the same as last years, just thinner and flat. Now, there was a point to update the flip as it really needed that display on the outside of it. Flip is what I would likely choose if I were upgrading this year.
Am more worried about the dust that's already on the screen when you close it putting pressure on the screen. We have already seen some other manufacturers having pro lems in that area like the Google pixel fold. 😅 though I won't be upgrading to the fold 5. I'll stick with my fold 4 as long as I can
I have z fold 3, meh again this year for me. I might be growing out of upgrading every year now that I'm 25 but I just don't see it. it's like the upgrade we got with the z fold 4. with the price still too high I think I'll wait until the s24 releases

STILL, no built-in s-pen... comparing the specs on their site, the cameras, screens, etc. Are all the same from 4 to 5. Maybe the 6 will be different. It doesn't seem worth it to trade in 4, imho 😅
Considering my very loyal Samsung Note 8 FINALLY died after what, 6-7 years...I'm incredibly excited to upgrade to the Z Flip 5. Back in 2000, when I was in gradeschool with a Nokia 3210, a friend and I talked about what if future phones were all screens? And even better, what if they could fold?! My dad had a Motorola StarTAC, then upgraded to the Moto Razr V3...that said, this Flip 5/Fold 5 is a dream come true for me, I can hardly wait.

So I have a Fold4, and I love it. However, the inside screen got a bubble in the middle, and it just grew and grew. I'm getting it replaced because it's under warranty, but do I really want to? Maybe upgrade to the Fold5, but is it worth it? Or go back to the S (my last phone was a S21) and get the S23. If I don't get a new full year warranty on the replacement of my Fold4, I'm not going to keep it. Any suggestions would be great.
that outside screen of the flip looks like a folder, which is good and looks iconic. i think they should embrace it by making the remaining bezels colored similar to the bottom part of the back
I can say that these are GORGEOUS phones! I always find the Fold stunning then the Flip model. But, what Sammy were able to accomplish this year is beyond me. You literally can't go with either these phones to choose from 🤷🏾. It's crazy that Sammy was able to drop 5 years of these phones 🔥🔥🔥💪🏾
No, none for me. Yes, the battery won't last as long as a regular phone battery. But I can comfortably get more than a day out of it. Being able still have a big screen but not take up lots of room in your pocket is perfect. Only thing I would recommend is getting a quality case.
I do like that you say how big the battery capacities are. but for most people, including me, the number says nothing. A much more useful metric would be how long the battery lasted for YOU. Something like using the phone for a couple of days and then taking the average usage time and how many times you charged it to get a usage time per charge stat.
I can tell you that i get 6 hours max with the Fold 5 on max everything with auto brightness. and with the flip 5 is was more like 4 hours and 15-30 minutes.
I was going to pass on the fold 5 and bought a pixel fold. I'm now thinking about trading it in. Samsung is offering 1000 dollars. What does everyone think?
The pixel fold outer display is really nice though. I would have got it for my first folder if they didn't only offer $200 for my perfect condition s22 ultra. Went with the zfold5 for my first.
Still haven't solved the crease problem that gets deeper the more you open and close it my friend has the flip and because of the crease he now has a hugely noticeable line in the middle of his screen like it broke the screen in half but still works somehow I'm not paying over a grand for a phone that still has that huge issue
It looks awesome, sadly i dont trust its durability since mine broke so i had to switch to the ultra series. If they fix the screen durability completely i'll consider giving it another chance in the future maybe, it stops me from buying a foldable for now. i have to make sure no customer has had any issues with the screen or the hinge, then i'll spend money on it. And it costs as high as a flagship does so, i dont wanna risk it... (and i never dropped mine so idk why it broke)
I'm lost 😆 I want them both. Idk what I would use more. I have a tablet and miss my razr from yesteryear so I'm leaning more towards the z flip. However, I'm in grad school and I don't usually take my tablet with me everywhere like I do my phone. I think the ultimate test would be to hold them both and make a split decision. *Analysis paralysis*
I tried the fold 3 for a few months and even thought I loved the concept I didn’t really use it as much. Went back to iPhone but just pre ordered this. Got 1k trade in value for my 13 pro max and with the 15% off student discount price came out to roughly $700 with taxes. Worse case scenario I use it for a few months and if I don’t like it I’ll sell it for what I bought it for and get the 15 pro max.
This is what I'm thinking man, I'm like I want to try the fold 5, but If I'm being honest I'm probably not going to use the open part as often once the novelty wears off. Same with my s23 ultra I barely use the spen lol

i have the zfold 3, and i use the s pen..i was hoping that they would have the pen be inside the phone instead of me buying all of these cases to make it work. now, since the zfold 5 didnt deliver, im done! im going to upgrade to the zflip 5 instead and just settle..just like samsung decided to do! maybe in about 6 months theyll drop an upgrade zfold 5 (much like a music artist dropping a deluxe album 😂) but i wont be here for it! listen to your customers and stop settling!
Hi This year the S pen is thinner than the one on the fold 3 and will fit in a dedicated case. I m ready to bet that the 6th version will have an inside slot for the pen. Regards from France.

By no way is my experience what everyone else would experience... YMMV: i bought the Z Fold 3 5G because i thought it's like a laptop "replacement" in a pinch. The 5G would ensure that i have THE best connection speed and all the screen real estate i would ever want. Here's my experience in the last 2 years: i opened the fold about 400 times. I've used the unfolded screen perhaps 6 times to write a long email which required research on a browser. I played Carcassonne 20 times with a friend in person on the unfolded screen. I've read 2 books in unfolded mode, read 5 magazines in unfolded mode and read 10 comics in unfolded mode. I watched 2 movies in unfolded mode. The hinge which is guaranteed to withstand 200,000 folds never broke, but the audio cable in the hinge stopped working 6 months ago, keeping the phone silent when unfolded. Samsung doesn't see that as a design flaw on their old flagship $1800 phone and offered to fix the audio cable for $600. Do i think that the fold was worth it for ME? No... I'm giving Samsung on more chance and I'm getting the flip5. And it better works for at least 2 years or my next phone will not be Samsung.
Yes, not changing that inner display ratio for the flip or the outer display ratio for the fold is a bummer. As a Flip 4 owner, I can tell you it's not hard to get used to the display ratio, the main downside is the bigger black bars for full screen videos, but the screen is pretty large in diameter so it's still a decent size

The flip got a bigger outter screen so itll be worth the upgrade from last yr, but the fold 5 yea it wont be worth it from the 4 ( which i hv ) im waiting for the outter display to get bigger then itll be worth it
I have the fold 3 and there are 2 things that annoys me. First the gap when its folded. Second, the outer screen is too narrow, i dont like using the outer screen, doesnt feel natural. Its good that samsung finally solved these.
Me from s22 ultra the flat close and the less curved edges won me back used to have the fold 3. I love flat edges. and chests lol well maybe quite flat. what color did you order i got the samsung exclusive blue looked good.

I'm on fold 3 I bought used for pretty cheap. I really want it as well but I wonder if the 4 will go down in price for second hand Purchases since buying one new is a little much for me. Unless Samsung will give me a good deal on my fold 3. I might check out trade prices. But the new hinge design really makes me hope that they fixed the micro cracking on got on my flip 3 when the 3rd Gen first came out.

We’ve come a long way since these first phones came out. However, until a company can figure out the screen crease I will not be considering a foldable. It’s super noticeable still in this video. Especially for the fold.

Still not seeing a reason to upgrade from a fold 3... this thing still runs great and they look almost exactly the same.

Disappointed with Z Fold 5 doesn't comes with an SPen attachable and no camera improvements!

This year will be my first fold. Sticking to the 512GB, my current phone is 21+ 5G 256GB still habe not hit my 256gb mark so 512gb should be enough. I'll be using it mainly for gaming and my work.

I love the Flip 5 with both its screens and when closed the outside screen can be utilized as a quick use screen to access apps and widgets on the Home Screen that will be useful for everyday life.

@mxsamsungsaup I didn't have problems with the fold and the flip 4 with the previous hinge design, but I guess. It's not a big change for me at least.
I used the flip for a couple of years, thinking of trying the fold. The main reason for that is the typing as it feels very narrow using the keyboard.
So dope I love later cases I had one on my s22 ultra I had the black one in the crimson and then for my s23 ultra I just got the crimson one such an awesome feel The only thing I would like see with the later cases is a little more protection on the corners and sides I definitely recommend them to a lot of people and they're not badly priced either

There is literally no difference except a thinner hinge to my Z Fold 4. Pretty insignificant update from Samsung tbh. We need a bigger fold device with the S-Pen integrated into the phone like the Note and S23 Ultra. Even it means using a smaller pen and also having the option to use the larger one that clips onto a case like before.
Its CRAZY that its been half a decade since the first foldable phone was released !! 👏🏼

There was no point to re-release a fold. It's exactly the same as last years, just thinner and flat. Now, there was a point to update the flip as it really needed that display on the outside of it. Flip is what I would likely choose if I were upgrading this year.
Am more worried about the dust that's already on the screen when you close it putting pressure on the screen. We have already seen some other manufacturers having pro lems in that area like the Google pixel fold. 😅 though I won't be upgrading to the fold 5. I'll stick with my fold 4 as long as I can
There is a ridge around the inner display so even tho there is no gap, the screen is not touching itself.

I have z fold 3, meh again this year for me. I might be growing out of upgrading every year now that I'm 25 but I just don't see it. it's like the upgrade we got with the z fold 4. with the price still too high I think I'll wait until the s24 releases

STILL, no built-in s-pen... comparing the specs on their site, the cameras, screens, etc. Are all the same from 4 to 5. Maybe the 6 will be different. It doesn't seem worth it to trade in 4, imho 😅
Based on samsungs track record, major changes to the 6 aren't likely. I'm just going to keep my 2, get a 23 ultra and hope for the best.

Considering my very loyal Samsung Note 8 FINALLY died after what, 6-7 years...I'm incredibly excited to upgrade to the Z Flip 5. Back in 2000, when I was in gradeschool with a Nokia 3210, a friend and I talked about what if future phones were all screens? And even better, what if they could fold?! My dad had a Motorola StarTAC, then upgraded to the Moto Razr V3...that said, this Flip 5/Fold 5 is a dream come true for me, I can hardly wait.

So I have a Fold4, and I love it. However, the inside screen got a bubble in the middle, and it just grew and grew. I'm getting it replaced because it's under warranty, but do I really want to? Maybe upgrade to the Fold5, but is it worth it? Or go back to the S (my last phone was a S21) and get the S23. If I don't get a new full year warranty on the replacement of my Fold4, I'm not going to keep it. Any suggestions would be great.

that outside screen of the flip looks like a folder, which is good and looks iconic. i think they should embrace it by making the remaining bezels colored similar to the bottom part of the back
I can say that these are GORGEOUS phones! I always find the Fold stunning then the Flip model. But, what Sammy were able to accomplish this year is beyond me. You literally can't go with either these phones to choose from 🤷🏾. It's crazy that Sammy was able to drop 5 years of these phones 🔥🔥🔥💪🏾

No, none for me. Yes, the battery won't last as long as a regular phone battery. But I can comfortably get more than a day out of it. Being able still have a big screen but not take up lots of room in your pocket is perfect. Only thing I would recommend is getting a quality case.

I do like that you say how big the battery capacities are. but for most people, including me, the number says nothing. A much more useful metric would be how long the battery lasted for YOU. Something like using the phone for a couple of days and then taking the average usage time and how many times you charged it to get a usage time per charge stat.
I can tell you that i get 6 hours max with the Fold 5 on max everything with auto brightness. and with the flip 5 is was more like 4 hours and 15-30 minutes.

The pixel fold outer display is really nice though. I would have got it for my first folder if they didn't only offer $200 for my perfect condition s22 ultra. Went with the zfold5 for my first.

Still haven't solved the crease problem that gets deeper the more you open and close it my friend has the flip and because of the crease he now has a hugely noticeable line in the middle of his screen like it broke the screen in half but still works somehow I'm not paying over a grand for a phone that still has that huge issue
Agreed! I thought the crease would be almost gone, but it isn't.

It looks awesome, sadly i dont trust its durability since mine broke so i had to switch to the ultra series. If they fix the screen durability completely i'll consider giving it another chance in the future maybe, it stops me from buying a foldable for now. i have to make sure no customer has had any issues with the screen or the hinge, then i'll spend money on it. And it costs as high as a flagship does so, i dont wanna risk it... (and i never dropped mine so idk why it broke)

I'm lost 😆 I want them both. Idk what I would use more. I have a tablet and miss my razr from yesteryear so I'm leaning more towards the z flip. However, I'm in grad school and I don't usually take my tablet with me everywhere like I do my phone. I tried the fold 3 for a few months and even thought I loved the concept I didn’t really use it as much. Went back to iPhone but just pre ordered this. Got 1k trade in value for my 13 pro max and with the 15% off student discount price came out to roughly $700 with taxes. Worse case scenario I use it for a few months and if I don’t like it I’ll sell it for what I bought it for and get the 15 pro max.
This is what I'm thinking man, I'm like I want to try the fold 5, but If I'm being honest I'm probably not going to use the open part as often once the novelty wears off. Same with my s23 ultra I barely use the spen lol

i have the zfold 3, and i use the s pen..i was hoping that they would have the pen be inside the phone instead of me buying all of these cases to make it work. now, since the zfold 5 didnt deliver, im done! im going to upgrade to the zflip 5 instead and just settle..just like samsung decided to do! maybe in about 6 months theyll drop an upgrade zfold 5 (much like a music artist dropping a deluxe album 😂) but i wont be here for it! listen to your customers and stop settling!

By no way is my experience what everyone else would experience... YMMV: i bought the Z Fold 3 5G because i thought it's like a laptop "replacement" in a pinch. The 5G would ensure that i have THE best connection speed and all the screen real estate i would ever want. Here's my experience in the last 2 years: i opened the fold about 400 times. I've used the unfolded screen perhaps 6 times to write a long email which required research on a browser. I played Carcassonne 20 times with a friend in person on the unfolded screen. I've read 2 books in unfolded mode, read 5 magazines in unfolded mode and read 10 comics in unfolded mode. I watched 2 movies in unfolded mode. The hinge which is guaranteed to withstand 200,000 folds never broke, but the audio cable in the hinge stopped working 6 months ago, keeping the phone silent when unfolded. Samsung doesn't see that as a design flaw on their old flagship $1800 phone and offered to fix the audio cable for $600. Do i think that the fold was worth it for ME? No... I'm giving Samsung on more chance and I'm getting the flip5. And it better works for at least 2 years or my next phone will not be Samsung.
Make the front screen a bit wider and get rid of the crease inside and then I'll consider another folding phone.

Yes, not changing that inner display ratio for the flip or the outer display ratio for the fold is a bummer.
As a Flip 4 owner, I can tell you it's not hard to get used to the display ratio, the main downside is the bigger black bars for full screen videos, but the screen is pretty large in diameter so it's still a decent size

The flip got a bigger outter screen so itll be worth the upgrade from last yr, but the fold 5 yea it wont be worth it from the 4 ( which i hv ) im waiting for the outter display to get bigger then itll be worth it

I have the fold 3 and there are 2 things that annoys me. First the gap when its folded. Second, the outer screen is too narrow, i dont like using the outer screen, doesnt feel natural. Its good that samsung finally solved these.

Me from s22 ultra the flat close and the less curved edges won me back used to have the fold 3. I love flat edges. and chests lol well maybe quite flat. what color did you order i got the samsung exclusive blue looked good.

I'm on fold 3 I bought used for pretty cheap. I really want it as well but I wonder if the 4 will go down in price for second hand Purchases since buying one new is a little much for me. Unless Samsung will give me a good deal on my fold 3. I might check out trade prices. But the new hinge design really makes me hope that they fixed the micro cracking on got on my flip 3 when the 3rd Gen first came out.

the flip is good... very durable. the only thing i hat is the aspect ratio. Its horrible for content. Very convenient though.
We’ve come a long way since these first phones came out. However, until a company can figure out the screen crease I will not be considering a foldable. It’s super noticeable still in this video. Especially for the fold.
