Looks great. Detailed tutorial! Thanks for sharing. For anyone who wants to do a diamond plate tumbler that doesn't have a cutting machine, 651vinyl carries a diamond plate vinyl from Starcraft that works great as a vinyl wrap that you can use under epoxy too.
Ok, I thought I had watched all of your tutorials. Several more than once. How did I miss this?? This is sooooooo awesome!! My dad and hubby are getting these for Father’s Day.
I've tried this and the paint pulled and left adhesive on the cup w the 631 Oracle but it's all good bc I just used an exacto knife to trace around each diamond and then pulled them up and to get the adhesive off I hard to spray the cup with WD-40 and it wiped off all the adhesive! Then I washed with soap and water. Done!
I am new to this and I just want to tell you I really APPRECIATE the way your tutorial is so thorough (sp) very nicely taught and I love the way you walk us the the Cricut Explore Air 2 that’s what I just bought and I’m learning through your tutorials! Thank you new subscriber!
I might try spray painting it and then using a metalic stainless steal vinyl on top so you dont have to peel it. i think you can achieve the same look without the paint peeling. But this also works if you don't have that vinyl available. It looks great. I think I'll do one for my husband. Thank you so much for the idea
What a fabulous, detailed tutorial. Thank you so much. I wonder if you could use the “background” vinyl as a stencil, placing it on and then spray painting? Have you tried something like that?
Great tutorial. Could you do a tutorial that shows how to fix bubbles and imperfections after the 1st coat of epoxy? I’m about ready to give up on making cups because I just can’t get a finish without bubbles even with a torch. Maybe I’m just being to critical but I see all these cups that look perfect.
It could be your epoxy. What kind do you use? I have found that putting my epoxy on close to the end of its working time I get way less bubbles or imperfections.
I used Amazing Clear first and didn’t have a problem but the smell even with a respirator was awe full. Then tried FX and KS resin. Both had major micro bubbles that wouldn’t even pop with a torch.
@@cuttastarminis6305 amazing clear has the worst smell ever!!! I use FX and had a really hard time with it but spent too much money not to use it lol. I got rid of my issues by mixing slowly for 3 minutes, pouring into a new cup and then mixing for another 3 min. I then wait for it to reach 90 degrees. I just got a little temp reader from harbor freight for 10ish. I also keep my room at 75 which kinda sucks but oh well lol. I rarely have issues with it now. It's a process but worth it! The finish on fx is sooooo pretty.
Let the girl that wrecks everything tell ya, lol. Use a heat gun, embossing gun or high heat low output hair dryer as soon as you are done. Pops all the bubbles!
Hello! I need to make two tumblers for 2 little boys. The base coat needs to be red and the other blue. Will this work? If so how would I do this? Thank you!
This was a really good tutorial. I don't understand how it got thumbs down. Also, I add a dot of hot glue to my 631 to help me find my vinyl and pull it up. I pull my vinyl up from the middle and not the edge.
Love love love your tutorials. I googled diamond plate svg, picked one, uploaded to DS and it needs a lot of cleaning. I always thought if it was an svg, I could upload and cut. Did you have to clean up yours or did you find a perfect one? If you did, can you please share the name of the site from whom you uploaded from? Thank you ❤️
Hi! How did you remove the little fuzzies that come out when you proceed to save as a cut image? For some reason I just can't get my diamond shaped perfect..
Spray the dish paint on a paper towel then dab it in the areas where the scratches are. You can also spray the paint into a cup. Dip a qtip in a cup then dab the areas with the qtip
I’m sorry, I’m not too sure if I understand the question, please reach out to me on my Facebook page and maybe send over some photos so I can have a better understanding.
I am so sorry for this mistake. I was watching your tutorial and hit the wrong button. This tumblers I have made have not faded. Please forgive me. I enjoy your on line tutorials, and have follow your instructions and they all have came out beautifully. My favorite was your we the people.
Hi, I followed your tutorial and let the cup set over night. But when I went to remove the diamonds it pulled some of the paint off. I tried to do it exactly how you did your removal any other tricks or tips I should know that would be helpful so o don’t loose my diamond shape ???
I'm sure you've figured this out by now considering how long ago you asked this but you have to pull the 631 up very slowly. If I pull up any of my paint I get a small paint brush and spray some of the paint in a metal bowl and very carefully try to add the paint back where it came off.
How do you know if vinyl is permanent or none? How do I know if I use permanent or non percent? I thought there was only heat vinyl, like for shirts or the other for cups.
Sand it with 180 sanding block. Then wipe down with 91% alcohol. I will say sanding is optional. I have had tumblers last for over two years without sanding them! 😊
I was thinking the same thing. I put them onto a Avery label sheet backing or contact paper backing etc and save them.. they always get used for something on another project later - especially when I’m stuck for an idea - I go browse thru those vinyls and then an idea will just pop up and I’ll use them! We paid good money for it 💰 might as well be used!!
Not only is this an awesome cup this video is a excellent exercise is the basics that i tend to skip when rushing !

Wow, I haven’t seen another video that explains the process as well as you. THANK YOU! I can’t wait to try this. Subscribed!

You're the best!! I know I've said it before but it can't be understated. You don't miss any details. I love it!!!
Simple design, but really nice and elegant looking!

Thank you for the detailed instructions from a beginner.
Great, thorough tutorial! Thank you so much!!
You are amazing. Enjoyed your video and how you presented the process. Thanks!
Thank you so much. I’m glad I can help!
I learned so much from this video….thanks so much!
You did an AWESOME JOB at explaining every single thing. Especially with the design cutting, vinyl size-631. Everything. THANK YOU.
Best tutorial ever!
I made this design last year and they were a big hit with every man
What a fabulous, detailed tutorial. Thank you so much. I wonder if you could use the “background” vinyl as a stencil, placing it on and then spray painting? Have you tried something like that?
Bridgett Wonder yes you can...It would just have a ss background and the painted diamonds...
This video was awesome! Thank You

What kind of decal saying would you put in this design? I just did it but can’t think of a saying. Love your videos.
I was in Menards the other day looking at that paint thinking I wonder what it really would look like on a cup. lol Thanks!
Haha! No problem!
what if you did this in reverse? Paint the tumbler then put metallic silver vinyl in the Diamond plate pattern and then seal with the resin?
Great idea!
Hi! How did you remove the little fuzzies that come out when you proceed to save as a cut image? For some reason I just can't get my diamond shaped perfect..
So beautiful!!! What decal did you add in the end? A name or a design?
I added a name to this one!
If I were to print this svg file onto clear waterslide paper would the "cut outs" be clear?
Great tutorial!
Can we use 70% alcohol or something else? Can’t find 91% alcohol anywhere
In another video she said you can use acetone also.
I have used 70% and it was just as useful. Stronger is better though.
Amazing tutorial!!!!!
Great video! What is your preferred transfer tape? (I hate the cricut transfer tape.)
I know this is an old video, but when I tried to do this, the temp vinyl left adhesive behind. How do I get it off without destroying the paint job?
You can use soap and water with a q tip and rub it off. Or windex
Have you ever tried using the excess vinyl what you removed, to wrap the tumbler?
Yes, you can do that! Great way not to waste vinyl! :)
How do you fix the scratches from pull off the vinyl
Spray the dish paint on a paper towel then dab it in the areas where the scratches are. You can also spray the paint into a cup. Dip a qtip in a cup then dab the areas with the qtip
Where did you get your transfer tape?
Is there a template for a tumbler sleeve that's not a square? It should be more like a tapered quadrilateral
Do you have a picture of this complete with the decal?
I just started doing this .When i get through it looks like I got alot on my tumbler. It looks thick
.What am i doing wrong.
I need to ask a question about the glittered tumblers please? What is making the glittered bleed on my white? What am I doing wrong? Thank you.
I’m sorry, I’m not too sure if I understand the question, please reach out to me on my Facebook page and maybe send over some photos so I can have a better understanding.
Prolly cheap dyed glitter. Rule of thumb $5 per color or buy it from craft store, not kids glitter. Also glitter made from polyester is amazing

Is it grey or rose gold? Looks rose when expoxying.
Nice work. How about instead of throwing the background sheet away you put it on a cup and spray paint or hydro dip a cup with it.
How do you know if vinyl is permanent or none? How do I know if I use permanent or non percent? I thought there was only heat vinyl, like for shirts or the other for cups.
When purchasing, the vinyl will state "Permanent" or "Temporary".
651 or “outdoor” is permanent
631 or “indoor” is removable
You can buy stencil vinyl
Looks like turn gold after or is it lighting?
That is the lighting 😊
Love this so much!!
Love it!
what decal did you put on ??
My dads last name :) up and down
This is great
You didn't sand the tumbler first, correct?
Sand it with 180 sanding block. Then wipe down with 91% alcohol. I will say sanding is optional. I have had tumblers last for over two years without sanding them! 😊
Use the vinyl that you weeded out as a stencil. Don't waste anything. :)

Ty!
A perfect tumbler for a construction worker 😊
I don't suppose you would make a transfer like this and sell it?
Unfortunately, no
@@MissKissKreations
K, tks 😎
You have to spray that hammered spray paint a certain way to get the hammered look. Yours looks to flat and shiny.
All I did was spray Very little at a time about 10 to 12 inches away from the tumbler.
Can you design a minion video
You thought me some new.
Looks great but everyone can afford computers and printers x
It's still wild your name is Lela and our lil names are the same
