    You are amazing! Ive been wanting to do one of these for so long but Im not talented. LOL I overthink and mess things up. Hearing you say to just let things fall there they do helped so much. I didnt stress about anything and my cup turned out so pretty! I cant believe I was able to make something I didnt want to throw away on the first try. Thanks so much!

  • @lilycessna3077

    AWEsome...so, when you spray paint it, no sanding and you don't have to put resin over the cup first?

    • @nmobrandambassador6953
      @nmobrandambassador6953 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should sand prior to painting to allow the paint to properly adhere. From there, you will coat the painted tumbler in epoxy and glitter the epoxy while it is wet.

    I know this is gonna be a silly question... well, 2 actually. How do you know what colors and glitters to use together? And do you ever do the Milky Way with a glitter swirl base?

    • @nmobrandambassador6953
      @nmobrandambassador6953 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Such a difficult question to answer! LOL I simply choose a base color (say pink, for example) and then narrow my selections for complimentary colors and such from there based on whatever I'm feeling for the project in the moment...Definitely not a science. LOL Glitter Swirl bases are also a very common match with the Milky Way technique!

    • @nmobrandambassador6953

  • @lilycessna3077

    I'm using an already colored plastic tumbler. I sanded it, so the resin sticks? Is that good enough?

  • @torynrobison4353
    @torynrobison4353 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just watched and am curious. After priming the cup and you’re adding the epoxy with the rose gold why is the rose gold added when it gets hidden under all of the glitter? Could instead it be spray painted to have a different color as the base coat (instead of a white) to prevent the metal from peaking through?

    • @NICOLEMARETT
      @NICOLEMARETT  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Toryn Robison this is a great question! I do extra color and sheen under the glitter to bring the sparkle of the glitter out even more. Plain white can take away and dull the sparkle. Sometimes you can even see the white poke through the chunky bits and you see the base of the cup :) ta- da!!!! ✨

    hi Nicole, what's the difference between using spray adhesive or epoxy for the application of the glitter. xx

    • @nmobrandambassador6953
      @nmobrandambassador6953 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Truly a difference of artist preference. I personally find that using the epoxy method to apply my glitter assists in a better lie for the glitter (keeps my chunky glitters flatter) as well as better overall coverage.

    My question is how did the epoxy stay wet or workable where you can continue to put glitter on

    • @savagetwin52
      @savagetwin52 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to know the pot time of the epoxy. The longer the pot time, the longer it stays "wet" and usable. But you can sometimes hit it with the heat gun and that might loosen it up.

    • @MrsQueKnightWilliams
      @MrsQueKnightWilliams 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@savagetwin52 never heard of the term" pot time"

    • @savagetwin52
      @savagetwin52 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrsQueKnightWilliams It is the amount of time you are able to use the epoxy before it starts curing and is too thick and hardened to do anything with. Before tumblers, I was in the resin jewelry world. Resin and epoxy are interchangeable terms. So I knew about pot time from that craft. Every bottle of epoxy resin must state pot time so you will know just how long you've got before it becomes unworkable. Hope this helps.

      Omg you should NEVER touch epoxyresin without gloves, a face mask, open air ventilated room.
      It’s very dangerous!!! It causes lung problems, cancer, skin rashes...
      Just look it up! It’s extremely dangerous, and people have died using it!

    • @nmobrandambassador6953
      @nmobrandambassador6953 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While you should only truly handle epoxy with a gloved hand, things do happen sometimes, and we find it in a whole host of places it doesn't belong (including our hair occasionally! LOL). To remove epoxy from my skin or hair, I simply wipe it off with alcohol then thoroughly wash the area with warm water and soap.

    • @nmobrandambassador6953

      Often times - Especially when using a chunkier glitter - more than one coat of epoxy will be needed to achieve a fully smooth coat. I will typically use an Exacto knife to shave off those sharp bits, then sand the cup to an even finish and apply a final coat. :)

      Pricing art can be very tricky indeed. The answer to your question will be different for everyone who makes it. Things to consider are: Your market, the cost of your products (many folks will gladly pay more for 'name brand' bases), your time, your experience/expertise, and the difficulty of the technique. I'm sorry I cannot provide you a more specific answer - But what I would sell it for may not work in your own market.

      I have since started using a new vendor for this glitter: Backfist Customs. So the name is different, but the product is the same. It is called Pink Bubbly with Backfist Customs. :)

      I use a torch to bring those pesky micro bubbles in the epoxy to the top to pop so I get a crystal clear finish. While it isn't technically a requirement, I do highly recommend it.
