There are archetypes that have great synergy with other archetypes. There are archetypes with great synergy between it's members. Then there is genex, which apparently has anti synergy with everything, specially itself. I really wonder what was Konami thinking, maybe splash some of them in decks depending on the attributes?
Genex is a lore archetype, which sounds cool but then they gave them no way to actually play. If you could start the game with Accelerator in play, or ultimate offering but just for Genex monsters, or if they had even one or two Cydras in the archetype, it would be even lightly playable. Anyway, looking forward to the Genex structure deck!
Love how the Genex archetype has ZERO spells or traps, and the secret pack for Genex at least from this episode appears to also include no spells or traps, leaving MBT with a single copy of Apophis as his deck’s only backrow And honestly, I’m just surprised he managed to find it game 2
I think they should change the rules so that if Dzeef loses, he has to read the card text for every card in both pack out loud. That way not only will we see every secret pack, but Dzeef will also have read (almost) every card.
he also didn't read that his synchros required genex controller. admittingly that's what killed me inside and i never forget only cause of how shit mechanically genex was in that sense
@@FatherDak but spares effect can be negated so it becomes useless if dzeef used one of his 3 copies of forbidden chalice. Controller wouldnt have that problem

MBT could have played Odd-eyes Sabre Dragon, he did pulled the regular Odd-Eyes Dragon for it, and it is not a bad boss compared to the rest of his cards
Another episode of Doug bullies MBT who is stuck with a terrible deck (or sometimes the other way around) This is even more reminiscent of the Progression Series than Master Saga is.
Honestly, I love the current rules of Master Duel Roulette. Not only is it entertaing to watch the two complain about certain decks/packs, but I've learned a lot (which archetypes to avoid, thought process dehind playing certain cards in a sealed format, key cards in certain archetypes that I would otherwise probably never play, etc.). I think that it's a direct result that comes from the rules that force them to play around some of the worse archetypes.
That's cool, but that came with a cost: making the video pointless. For who knows MD packs' content, after watching the roulette it was obvious Mbt wouldn't have any chance, even by pulling some sick SR/UR from outside the pack.
Depends on the audience you want to foster with this series; I'm pretty casual and I really like the idea, even if it does devolve into "how unplayable is your garbage". Maybe setting up different numbers of packs depending on which ones are opened i.e. 40 genex packs into 15 darklords (which would probably be more even let's be real) rather than forcing "even matchups" since the unevenness is neat to me and generally part of the packs
@@DeviousHands that's not a matter of which kind of audience you want to foster: that's clearly a casual setting and forcing even matches is out of question. Making small adjustments just helps to prevent what has happened yesterday; the duels HAVE to be the core of the show. This way the loser is not forced to stick with a bad pack, he can re-roll at the cost of probably don't see many ultra/supers.

Would force you to play the selected strategies still but would buffer the strategies that simply don't function in a sealed environment.
I think the goal was that there's no crutch so everything has to be painfully janky if it happens. I guess this is what happens though when you hit your worst case scenario where somehow Genex ended up even worse than the Ally of Justice week
MBT had a rough couple duels this week but I’m proud of him for having the restraint not to rage quit this time. Being a good sport makes you a winner every game.
Such a massive skill issue from MBT. Did not even pull 3 machine dup, Trishule, and Clear Wing in his 20 pack opening. Smh. Next week he'll get the Ghostrick pack and manage to not even pull Utopic Future and Utopic Draco Future from out of pack.
Good guy Dzeef, not reading cards as a way to give MBT a chance with the Genex. But the alternative way you spoke of sounds better, this will leave worse archetypes for later, when there only are worse archetypes left.
Droplet is decent in Darklord because they want a bunch of monsters and traps in GY, and for the pack specifically you can chain it to the other Forbidden artifacts since they're quick plays to gimp a board without losing advantage. Condemned Witch(the "Forbidden Quick-Play" searcher) searching level 4 Fairy cards gives it some odd synergies with several decks(most notably Agents/Counter Fairies and Despia, but also some janky stuff like Starry Knights, Cloudians and Melodius) as well as the obvious intended Darklord synergy. It can also bring out a Light Barrier Statue for memes. Also that Genex pack is just depressing. Genex Magma in UR was probably desperation to fill a quota or something.
It was really funny for me seeing MBT playing Genex cause I actually mained them in Edison format. Yes I foolishly decided to main deck an archtype that literally has ZERO SYNERGY WITH ANYTHING! Because I like the artwork for them.
A way to balance the matchups would be to divide the roulette in multiple ones, each corresponding to a tier and each episode switching roulette. It is funnier the way it is now tho, "normal summon 1.6k attack vs normal summon 1.8k attack".
If they ever wanted to make Genex a little better, they should give them a Field Spell that lets them Normal Summon 5 times a turn. Most of them only have one line of text that allows them to search specific Genex monsters on Normal Summon.
this match was a rollercoaster the constant back and forth it was so thrilling lmao.... but like actually this was funny good stuff those pulls were something else from those packs... xD

Come to think of it, Genex are so bad that Joseph probably would‘ve been better off if he completely ignored them instead of trying to build a Genex-deck. Sometimes I wonder which game is better for pulling cards, Master Duel or Duel Links. In Duel Links, you have a somewhat controlled environment but only pull 3 cards per pack.
