Oh God, I saw Sunsoft Batman and I had an impulse to play it again on my Genesis. One of the best ost ever made and the first stage raining scene thrill me until this day
I really love the Sunsoft Batman movie game on the Genesis, the game's short but i love it, i love the soundtrack too, especially Gotham City Streets, very retro, it's a nice short game if ur a Batman fanboy!
I remember spending an insane amount of hours playing Alien 3 on my Genesis. I just loved that game! I don't recall ever being able to beat it though. It was pretty big.
decent game based on a bad movie... the fact that it doesn't follow the movie very well is a GOOD thing! (in alien 3's case; speaking here of the Genesis version, I never really cared for the SNES version). Batman isn't the greatest game but it had a lot of style and was way better than the barely playable Batman Returns on genesis (but the CD game's batmobile expansion was like a game unto itself and pretty cool)
As I have experience with Genesis games only as adult, I feel that Alien 3 is an awful game. You have to endure, not enjoy it. But that's just an opinion.
I'm 29 years old,I played the hell out of this game as a kid and only managed to beat it a couple weeks back on my Mega Drive mini.... And I never knew about this until right now. My life has been wasted
Back to the Future III wasn't reprogrammed for US release. US TVs run at 60fps but UK TVs run at 50. So the game runs too fast, making the game crazy hard. Shadow of the Beast had the same problem
Shadow of the beast had a worse problem than that. I believe some things were changed to compensate for the 60hz upgrade, but other things were over looked which is what makes it stupid hard in the none Pal versions.
Back To The Future III had a US release on the Mega Drive/Genesis, I know because I own one of them and it doesn't boot in PAL, just halts to a black screen. You may be confusing it with the Master System version which only got a PAL release and doesn't boot on NTSC systems.
Judge Dredd is a bit of an oddity, only the first third of the game is actually based on the movie, the rest is based on the comic "Dredd Vs Death", so did it start out as a comic license before Acclaim got therights to the movie?
I disagree with you on the first Home Alone game. I thought it was really fun. Placing traps and being able to randomly customize weapons to see what they do was great. Especially at that time where it was rarely ever seen in games. It was an easy game but nowhere near a bad one.

I couldn't believe this was the same game I finished as a kid, but after a handful of playthroughs I started to get the hang of it (again) and started to realize why I liked it so much. It's definitely a game that didn't age so well when compared to newer action/beat'em ups, but it was definitely a great game for its time, and having watched the movie beforehand certainly helped me enjoy it even more.
Dragon can be fun for younger gamers? Dragon wasn't just terrible, it was nearly impossible unless you used a cheat to get the nunchucks. All in all though a fun video. Nice job.

Dragon is really not as as bad as people will have you believe I got to learn it's mechanics as a fighting game fan and I really enjoyed it even today I can pick it up and have a good time with it
Having watched the entire video...I just gotta say... I owned a saturn for 15 years without knowning the best games until I found your channel. Now I can say that after having every genesis ROM on my Wii for almost ten years...I finally know the games I need to play...and avoid. I seriously owe you for this one. If you were to write a guide to Saturn Games and another for Genesis Games...I think people would buy it.
Love the longer videos! Unlike most other gaming TH-camrs: You say more with less instead of gushing unfiltered (mostly) about "why you should like/dislike this game" giving me a college lecture on the whole thing. You're not boring and I love the way you edit. You genuinely care about making videos and your hobby... And you can see that perfectly! Keep up the good work. You wanted opinions on the longer vids, so here's my two cents 😁
Yeah I like the soundtrack too, it's a Tommy Tallarico soundtrack after all, his soundtracks are some of the better Genesis soundtracks that use GEMS. I don't think the Aladdin soundtrack is as good as the Earthworm Jim games or Cool Spot, but I do like the laid back, lounge music vibe it has. It gives the game a lot of it's unique personality.
I played The Lawnmower Man on PC back in the day. Basically the Sega CD version with better visuals. I actually enjoyed it though it really was a thing of its time and has aged. More than anything else I liked that it wasn't fmv clips from the movie and instead was original cgi depicting your journey through VR. That and the music had a nice beat to it that kept it enjoyable for me.
Hey guy, like the channel..mid 40's here, and I still love games... Believe it or not my favorite game on Sega used to be Ecco the dolphin... I know not of your pod...hahaha.. Anyways I subscribed to your channel and thank you for the good work sir
I did a hit-less one for the game Hook back on my SNES when I was younger because once you got hit, you lost the Pan Sword so I actually beat the game not getting hit once (which was amazing for a kid back in the day). Emulated it recently and discovered you can recover the Pan Sword if you look for it. Fuck my younger life.
Alien 3 was tough as old boots and had a amazing soundtrack I remember having it on headphones playing it at night and being tired at school did anyone beat it?
Wait you didn't like Aladdin's sound track but you the smooth game play made up for it? I mean taste is one thing, but you really should have mentioned that the sound track is actually considered a selling point to most. It's a really good sound track especially the original tracks, they put a lot effort into getting the sound track right, which sure is a matter of taste, but despite your taste most people would probably enjoy the sound track. Also in my opinion, I think the one part they did ok in, but it's clear that this wasn't the focus, and this backed up with the history, was the gameplay. They needed a pretty game that sounded good, and played well while looking good. They did a really good job, but it isn't the best platformer by a long shot.
I love Home Alone! I thought it was a unique sega experience, i loved setting up traps and combining items to make goofy new weapons. I thought it was very appealing then and still do. I wish there was a bit more variety in traps and trap placement but all in all it was a good experience. Also enjoyed the NES Home Alone which is basically one of the first survival games. I would legit always jump when Harry or Marv popped up.
I loved Home Alone as well. Had so much fun putting my sled under their van. The strategy of setting traps and building weapons was very unique and a lot of fun.
Great video and channel. I’ve just subscribed. I have all of the Sega games to play on emulator and love the Genesis games so this video has really helped as most of these movie games I haven’t had chance to play yet so thanks for the heads up and now know which ones to avoid. That Wayne’s World at the end looked painful. 😂😂
9 minutes in so far...I don't know why "Bram Stoker's Dracula" is such a debatable game. I think it's a great horror game on the Genesis compared to others. Not all of us were blessed with having Castlevania games growing up, so this was a great substitute. Also the music for it was superb...the boss fights are a little easy and some of the enemy placements are annoying/unfair, but it's definitely a good game to have in the collection and not a pass imo.
You were hella kind to lion king. The creator of that game had a youtube video calling it hot garbage. Said disney didnt wana game that could be beaten in a weekend.
This would be great to see a Saturn/DC version of this vid for the contrast. One thing I always think of when seeing stuff like this is that so many of these were Western developed at a time when Western console games were generally not good. This is one of the many reasons I typically don't touch Western developed games even to this day, though many indies are at least good if not great these days. I sure hope Japanese game development makes a bigger comeback one of these days.
Back to the Future 3 on genesis. I rented that, and hated it so much. I got decent at the first stage, but I got so mad at howI'd have to re-do that first stage so many times. Later on in life I went through with an emulator and beat the game. Very unfulfilling life I lead
I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. I have not owned all of Sega's systems, but I had the Genesis, P.B. Converter, and the Dreamcast. I still buy Sega game collections when released. Anyways, your vids provide warm nostalgia for me and your voice goes well with that. Thank you for your work!
Universal Soldier is indeed Turrican II (whereas Mega Turrican was Turrican III but not made by the original creator), i didn't played this version but the open level of the II were always better than the third one for me.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day had some interesting ideas with an open world map you'd to travel around trying to complete different objectives. If they'd refined the content a bit and improved the controls it could have been cool.
I always loved batman returns. Yes, almost unfair in difficulty but sollid feeling game play and batman feels like he is a real and heavy person instead of a featherlight character that jumps all over the place with ease.
Back to the Future 3 for Genesis, I’m sorry but I got some enjoyment out of it. The first level is infuriating but I weathered the storm and was persistent. I finally beat it and nowadays I can usually beat it first time every time. It’s not that hard once you get to know the controls. Once you’re done with it, the rest of the game was more fun. Trying to get the score needed for the shooting game, and throwing the pie plates was fun to play. The last level was the funnest of all. What gave it replay value was the difficulty so I guess I just didn’t give up so easily. Definitely should have never been paid a big price for though. We got it cheap back in the day. No big deal.
loving the content even though I haven't followed it from the beginning. keep it up! I may not always agree but I find a lot to like as a sega fan who grew up with the genesis (only really knew one person who had a master system, so it was all nes with friends before that and one who had an atari vcs compatible computer).
I never played Ghostbusters on the Genesis eventhough it was primary system when I was a kid and I was a big fan of the 1984 movie. Should remedy this some day. Looks like a decent enough game and I've been on a retro kick lately.
Back at the day's I had the demo version from a German Sega magazin. First level playable. But with a cheat you can select all levels. Nice "free" game for me as a kid.
Terminator 2 the arcade game, Rambo III, Predator 2, Moonwalker, Aladdin, Ghostbusters, Pinocchio, Dick Tracy, all three Jurassic Parks, Toy Story, Pocahontas and Power Rangers the Movie were the best for me. Alien 3, and Hook were decent.
Point of order - the Sega CD/Mega CD Dune game is based on the first Dune title that was released for DOS/Amiga/Atari ST. That's why it's completely different.
You were much more merciful to "Wayne's World" than the AVGN was. Some recommendations for future videos are below: Genesis games based on television shows like "Star Trek: The Next Generation: Echoes from the Past," "Beavis and Butthead," and "Bart's Nightmare." Saturn film games like "The Lost World," "Independence Day," "Die Hard Trilogy," and "Street Fighter: The Movie."
I disagree about the art in Hook. Everything else you said about it is true, but I find that art to be very visually appealing. Maybe the sprites could be a bit larger, but unless it’s more repetitive than you’re showing here I actually think that art is pretty solid.
Yeah, Judge Dredd is awesome! Family Values has makings of a good game, but retail release is appalling. Fan patches for Genesis make it OK. SNES fan patches make it surprisingly enjoyable.
@@volo870hey, thanks for the info! But why are you bringing up the Addams Family game? I didn’t mention that one, is there a particular reason why you brought that one up?
Yeah, that first Batman game from Sunsoft is beyond awsome. One of the best games on the system and one of my favorite games of all times. Also you should mention games like: Pirates of Dark Water, Tom and Jerry Frantic Antics, Silvester & Tweetty, Gargoyles, Spider-Man The Animated Series Video Game and TaleSpin.
I remember the Cliffhanger game being pretty fun but stupidly hard. Looking back on it, it almost feels like Comix Zone in its difficulty... Edit: I used to have Moonwalker on Genesis (i think my mom still has that game and my genesis stored away) and until this video i didn't realize that even the damn red birds in the graveyard start dancing when you do your special😂😂😂
moonwalker was interesting. really cool visuals, awesome music and terrible, terrible acting for a really looney plot. but the inspiration for great video games if you can forget about how messed up the star was.
I've heard the story that Cutthroat Island was designed as poorly as possible (at least on some versions) because the developers were trying to claim a loss on their insurance, or something to that effect.
Ghostbusters (Phantasy Star 2 and Altered Beast) was my first Genesis game. I really enjoyed the game and the large headed Ghostbusters. Seeing the video I remember all those scenes, played the he'll put of it. Took me forever to finish. Moonwalk was another good game surprisingly. It was beyond weird, bit that's why I liked it. It had a lot of small details, the moonwalking, variety of dances, the mech suit, etc... My favorite part was MJ tossing the coin into the Jukebox. Something about it just got me.
The Aladdin game was amazing, most of the Disney games on Genesis were from memory.
the lion king game was great too, and hello gman :)

This is why i like your channel not only do you do other systems but call out the games that sucked. Keep up the great work
Love the longer videos!
Unlike most other gaming TH-camrs:
You say more with less instead of gushing unfiltered (mostly) about "why you should like/dislike this game" giving me a college lecture on the whole thing.
You're not boring and I love the way you edit.
You genuinely care about making videos and your hobby... And you can see that perfectly! Keep up the good work.
You wanted opinions on the longer vids, so here's my two cents 😁
You don't like the Aladdin soundtrack? I love it but it may be purely nostalgia for me for sure
It just never clicked with me. I liked the Mickey games music a lot more.
@@kingboobs20 Listen to the Amiga version of this soundtrack. It is amazing.
Don't care what anyone says Alladdin's special stage music was a banger
I MUCH prefer your longer vids like these. It's pretty entertaining and informative.
My top 5 would be
1. Aladdin
2. Alien 3
3. Batman
4. Ghostbusters
5. Rambo III
“Dark, soulless graphics rape your eyes”😂😂😂🙌🙌🙌 Perfect.
That killed me😂
I have several of these games on my Genesis. I completely agree with your analysis of the games (the ones that I own).
Alien 3 was tough as old boots and had a amazing soundtrack I remember having it on headphones playing it at night and being tired at school did anyone beat it?
Once
‘I fear to watch, yet I cannot look away.’ - Milhouse.
They did a really good job, but it isn't the best platformer by a long shot.
you crazy Music on Aladdin's Sega MD game is epic!
Ghostbusters was soooooo much fun and even more fun with a friend
Your critique of games you dislike never fail to make me laugh. Love this channel.
I had Pocahontas. It was a great game, maybe only too short.
Jurassic Park for the Genesis is still the greatest movie game of all time.
Nice video, sega lord x
I love ur content its well put together and i like how u give a little history of the games release and developers
9 minutes in so far...I don't know why "Bram Stoker's Dracula" is such a debatable game. I think it's a great horror game on the Genesis compared to others. Not all of us were blessed with having Castlevania games growing up, so this was a great substitute. Also the music for it was superb...the boss fights are a little easy and some of the enemy placements are annoying/unfair, but it's definitely a good game to have in the collection and not a pass imo.
toy story was perfect in every aspect
50 titles? 44 minutes? You're a machine.
Editing was the key. Episode was well over an hour originally.
One of my first games on Genesis was Rambo 3, it is strange how nowadays i realized how bad it was but at the time i kinda enjoyed.
It isn great but not bad at all. Played it for the first time like 2 years ago and it was solid, a shame is too short.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day had some interesting ideas with an open world map you'd to travel around trying to complete different objectives. If they'd refined the content a bit and improved the controls it could have been cool.
I like Batman Returns, for some reason, and Judge Dredd was awesome to me. I really liked Terminator on Sega CD.
I always loved batman returns. Yes, almost unfair in difficulty but sollid feeling game play and batman feels like he is a real and heavy person instead of a featherlight character that jumps all over the place with ease.
The grappling hook was fun too. I liked how dark and mature it was too.
Batman returns was a nice game. It was dark just like a Batman game should be. The revenge of the joker game was a disaster!
loving the content even though I haven't followed it from the beginning.
Ghostbusters is solid. Love it.
Back at the day's I had the demo version from a German Sega magazin. First level playable. But with a cheat you can select all levels. Nice "free" game for me as a kid.
Predator 2 is an awesome game, very addictive.
I like it. It's a bit like Chaos Engine except much faster.
I think I like the master system ver more. But still pretty fun on mega drive. Except the last stage.
The little mermaid gameplay seriously reminds me of storm from spiderman and the xmen arcades revenge lol
Dude...."Warlock" was a video rental store classic!
I liked the film myself, but you gotta admit it was a strange choice to bring out 6 years later as a video game.
@@SegaLordX yeah?.. I'll definitely agree with you on that!😅
Sega lord is quickly becoming my favorite youtuber
Some recommendations for future videos are below:
Genesis games based on television shows like "Star Trek: The Next Generation: Echoes from the Past," "Beavis and Butthead," and "Bart's Nightmare."
Saturn film games like "The Lost World," "Independence Day," "Die Hard Trilogy," and "Street Fighter: The Movie."
I disagree about the art in Hook. Everything else you said about it is true, but I find that art to be very visually appealing. Maybe the sprites could be a bit larger, but unless it’s more repetitive than you’re showing here I actually think that art is pretty solid.
And about Judge Dredd; it’s fucking Judge Dredd bro, dope as hell.
