I remember playing TMNT The Hyperstone Heist back at my uncle's house when i was a kid, i didn't know it was a Mega Drive game or even what a Mega Drive was until many years later, back then i was just a kid and i only knew the Playstation. Now i like playing this game every once in a while, i tried asking to my uncle what happened to his Mega Drive because i wanted it but he gave it away shortly after showing it to me that many years ago
Get the Mini version, and you’ll be able to add as many ROMS as you want to it. Not nice to assume your uncle would give up his things ‘because I wanted it’ - sounds a bit of a spoilt attitude.
Your uncle's mega drive is nicely tucked away, for you and him to play. He will never sell it, because it's discontinued. But honestly, it is just a quick buck. No mega drive will ever go for $30000. More like $100. Popular kids toy. $500 you say? Still worthless. He'll probably leave it to you.(if you show some sort of mind.) Even then what generation of mega drive do you even have? First gen is the rarest. You'll end up leaving it to your grand kids.
I bought this game few years ago, after found it out, it's a somewhat harsh game to master its (specially on soccer event) but the game is great, it had a high replayability value and I love it...
international superstar soccer was a huge succes in my country, it was the first football soccer simulator ever. It paved the way for winning eleven or PES years later
Obviously you have no clue what you are talking about. The best people from Konami later founded Treasure and Gunstar Heroes as well as Alien Soldier are better than Rocket Knight Adventures. And so are Thunderforce 4, Streets of Rage 2 and many others.
@@user-dv2hc8zt3o I dare to disagree, knowing that my opinion is on the minority side on this matter. Gunstar Heroes is, indeed, a great game, and it's fame is well deserved, no doubt about that. But I found myself enjoying more the experience of RKA. From my pov, the gameplay in RKA offers you more variety and the game mechanics are, overall, very unique, like pinballing your way up the walls with the rocket and stuff like that. GH, in my opinion, is not far away from shooters like Contra, and it's mechanics seems way more basic, run, shoot, blow everything on the way. Is fun as hell and it's take on that is, perhaps, the best of the entire fourth generation, but still, in the core, I think RKA is a game with more depth.
Agreed! A fun and colorful game. The boss battles were creative as well. I remember it being a somewhat hard game though, and I was never able to beat the game back in day. I only remember to getting to the boss battle of that red head girl. Makes me want to hook up the Sega to see if I can beat it now lol.
Great games presented well. Sunset Riders I'm fortunate enough to have as the 4 player proper cabinet (though I need to re-cap my monitor), so I stick to that. That game is always a hit at parties, and my oldest son and I play through it together regularly. Double Dribble might feel off, but it's still way more fun to play. I have the arcade original Double Dribble, and you have to push a button for every single dribble... what a pain to play. It's exhausting to try and play a full-length game!
It IS made by the same company. They guy in this video forgot to mention thet it’s NOT made by Konami. Both games are made by Lucasfilm Games. Konami only published the first one
Really?! I think Contra III: The Alien Wars on the Super Nintendo is superior by far. Between the Mode 7 effects, the incredible 16-bit sound and sound effects, the graphics, and level/character design, it had just about everything you could want in an action shooter. I just wished it had more levels and not as much slow down.
Hyperstone Heist might be a lesser game than Turtles in Time (Snes), but only marginally so. It’s an excellent beat em up and having a dedicated dash button is really nice. In some ways, I actually find it better than the Snes Classic.
@Shawn Macdonald The Genesis version sounds more like the Arcade version. (More similar hardware) Only thing not good is the voices. Otherwise the levels are larger and the gameplay is much more responsive. That run button makes it play sooo much better.

Here's hoping more of this is on the way. Also, screw your ridiculously stupid comments. Maybe if you actually cared about buying the games, Konami might actually care to release anything. @@13Gangland If they actually put effort into their games like they used to, people would praise them and buy them. Contra last year looked bland, was repetitive, had annoying controls and mechanics, and simply became boring very quickly. It felt nothing like a Contra game. The last offering of Castlevania they made was a mobile game that they released early access in Canada but nowhere else, and then they just canned the whole thing. If a company wants their games to sell well, they should make them good and accessible.
It should be noted that even though Hyperstone Heist used recycled assets, it did have one new asset - the version exclusive boss Tatsu, who was Shredder's right hand man in the first 2 TMNT live action movies of the early 90's.
I love Konami's output for Sega during the 16-bit era. Rocket Knight Adventures is one of the greatest games of all time as far as I'm concerned. Among the many games in my collection I also own Lethal Enforcers 1 & 2 for the Mega CD along with both the blue and player 2 pink light guns. I had no idea how much the pink player 2 light gun sells for these days!
Still remember playing Lethal Enforcers with both guns by myself when my friend wasn't around. Wish I still had both guns because I really wanted to play it again when I got the game again on the everdrive.
I remember Lethal Enforcers. Had forgotten about it until this video :O used to play that game a lot. Never actually thought that game looked bad. But back then, i wouldn't have known much about graphics anyway. Sunset riders, Tiny Toon Adventures game, TMNT Hyperstone Heist were the games, me and my brother played almost everyday. Especially Sunset Riders and TMNT we beat who knows how many times. Was so sad when some kid stole our TMNT from cartridge case. One of my fondest memory i have of my childhood was reaching the final stage of Tiny Toon Adventures game and writing down the level code on piece of paper. I believe it was weekend and my dad was watching me play the game while mom cooked. I must have been 7,8 at the time. Was so proud to have reached the final stage but sadly lost that level code and never gotten around to beating the game.
Apart from Castlevania, Snatcher and Turrican and all the sports oriented games, I owned and played pretty much all of the lineup in this clip. This was a major trip down nostalgia lane for me. You can play Lethal Enforcers 2 with a normal sega controller. 2 player mode worked with it too, played pretty well too.
Rocket Knight Adventures is Konami's best 16-bit action-platformer in my eyes. I was extremely surprised to discover this circa 2017, considering how much I also love the likes of Castlevania and Contra. RKA is just so amazing, though. Colorful graphics, great music, a vibrant and unique world, a great moveset for the hero, thrilling set piece level design, tons of great boss fights, it really does have it all.
Nice intro! I absolutely love Snatcher! Still ranks as one of my most favorite games of all time. And the first Rocket Knight is also awesome! by the way, i've got a Japanese 7in1 game cartridge with Tiny Toon adventures on it. But this is probably some bootleg cartridge ;-)
Great video!I noticed on the back of my Frogger Majesco cardboard box a Konami logo. Also, the game Junction shows "licensed by Konami. Konami 1990" on the back of the box.
Some absolute classics up in here. For me, Rocket Knight is not only one of the best Konami games on the Megadrive, but also one of the best 16bit games in every way. I also loved the Tiny Toon games, great frun. Great video as always.
Contra Hard Corps is definitely one of my top 10 games on Genesis hands down, that soundtrack rivals the Streets of Rage games IMO (same w/TMNT Hyperstone Heist). TMNT Tournament Fighters has a special place in my heart, it was the only version I could play since I didn't have a SNES. Love the soundtrack to it too! Played the hell outta April O'Neil.
Finally someone talks about Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Trasure. Man, this game is like an actual hidden treasure, as in no one talks about it. This game, with its multiple paths and large map is just amazing. I just loved it. The boss fights were amazing. It's better than the SNES version.
also loved sunset riders, i played the arcade cabinet at pizza hut a million times as a kid. Zombies at my neighbors is also really fun and one of the best coops on the sega and snes
Stumbled upon Rocket at Wally World and it was only $15 (half the price of Hyperstone Heist which was the next most-affordable title). I used that value proposition to convince my parents to buy it for me. Knew nothing about the game and was blown away. Still one of my favorite titles for the console. 🤩
I remember renting Lethal Enforcers from Blockbuster. It came in a plastic suitcase with two Justifiers. Ten year old me was stoked and had a fun Saturday afternoon switching off with friends. Good memories...thanks Sega Lord!
Just a thought but I would have started the video off by talking about how Konami was one of many Nintendo loyalists who wouldn't even look at the Genesis, but the success of Sonic the Hedgehog, which allowed Sega to finally (temporarily) take the video game throne from Nintendo, convinced them to join the ranks of Acclaim, Tecmo and Tradewest in publishing their games for the Genesis in 1992, finally giving Sega gamers the chance to enjoy the licenses that their Nintendo brethern were blessed with for so long.
The one thing that has always turned me off of the Tiny Toons game is the jumping. It is so fast and jarring that I've always felt sick while playing. It looks like a great game but they lost it for me with that camera.
I've said it before in other videos and I'll say again on this one, I can't understand why Rocket Knight Adventures is not on Sega Genesis Mini. i mean Sega was able to get Bloodlines and Hard Corps from Konami so why not Rocket Knight as well?
Most of the people at konami probably don't know what a rocket knight even is. It was only popular at american retail stores. Sure it was probably in japan or europe, but they didn't like that kind of stuff. Look up konami, europe and japan. Maybe he'll comeback someday I guess....
I remember picking up Tournament Fighters from the video store and thinking it was going to be the same as the SNES version and being so upset. It was such a fucking hard game too, the AI was just so insanely tough.
I had the opportunity to start playing Konami games back on the MSX in the mid 80s. It was amazing to see their games on the NES and then on Genesis as well
I'm not sure how to describe it, but Konami was making some kind of magic when it came to the Genesis. There's just something truly special about Contra Hard Corp and Castlevania Bloodlines, and I personally would put them above their Super Nintendo entries. And I was lucky enough to grow up with Buster's Hidden Treasure in my Genesis library, and Rocket Knight Adventures, a game I still consider to this day to be one of the finest of not only the Genesis, but its entire console generation
Here's a cool idea that you might want to try to implement in these styles of video. You should maybe try having a visual timeline showing the box art for each game along a straight line representing the month and year that each one came out, and just go down the line as you review them. That way the viewers get a visual representation of when these games actually came out and in relation to each other, and that way they can easily see the timeline of when each and every title from the developer came out. It would be a good way for ppl to be able to reminisce about the early 90's when these games came out. Might be a cool lil idea to implement in future video's.
I had the Lethal Enforcers cowboy sequel with the Justifier. My memories of that game are of extreme frustration and horrible graphics, but it was somehow addicting. I remember playing it a lot when I caught pneumonia and so I had the worst fever dreams over trying to beat it, failing, and trying again with its vomit inducing graphics. The console was too far away to turn off, so it just sat on an opening screen loop for hours until I'd pick it up play it again, and the music haunted my dreams. Eventually I got lucky and beat it as I was feeling better.
I hated that game. The graphic were terrible and the music sucked. And it was really hard. When I got to the part where you had to gun down like five people in a row, that's when the game was over. I only beat that part once. And died on the next level.☹️
Can confirm Buster's Hidden Treasure comes cheap complete, but it was a happy find on a Gainesville trip. And of yes, just SEEING the box of Rocket Knight Adventures behind the counter at Kay-Bee guaranteed I had to try it.
@@Theshark15z He means Konami released some AAA exclusive software that was developed in house for the Genesis. When it wasn't AAA it was still done in house and usually of good quality. Capcom on the other hand didn't do one in house exclusive for the Genesis. While there were some good games released by Capcom they were ports of the SNES assets and didn't really take full advantage of Genesis hardware.
HUGE fan of the Animaniacs game on Genesis, it does a great job making each character distinct, the graphics are solid and the music is super catchy. Konami in general killed it on the Genesis, some underwhelming games notwithstanding. Thanks for the overview!
So many games here that are on my wantlist! Also, good to see Acme All-Stars get some love. I'm in my 30s and I still love playing it to this day, the basketball portion especially, but bowling and soccer are loads of fun as well.
Your comment about the pink Justifier reminded me that I have one. Had to do an eBay search, and yeah, there aren't many for sale. The ones that do appear look like they're $80+. Yet another thing I'm glad I thought was cool as a 10-year-old in 2005 and bought before prices climbed to space.
This was fun to watch. Konami did some good work on the Genesis, even if there were some stinkers and disappointments along the way. Sunset Riders was always tough for me, as the bullets blend into the background for me. The reduction in meg count was unfortunate. I always liked Hyperstone Heist. While Turtles in Time on SNES has its plus points such as more distinct stages, more enemy types, different special effects(throwing Foot Soldiers at the screen was NOT Mode 7 and was quite possible to do on the Genesis, and even other systems), Hyperstone Heist has a better control setup with run being on a button, more frames of animation on the Turtles, and I think the FM music is better(it's at least much closer to the arcade). And Castlevania Bloodlines is fantastic. Perhaps you've already thought of this, as you're very good at coming up with topics, but you could also cover Capcom and Konami on PC Engine. As for Genesis, perhaps Namco would be another one to cover this way.
I rebought Tiny Toons Buster's Hidden Treasure because of this video. I sold it decades ago thinking it's inferior to Buster Busts Loose. But they are very different games. Also, your Genesis captures are amazing and it's awesome that you use the Mega SG to capture them! Your additional notes in your videos are a great idea!
Zombies Ate my Neighbors. This was the one game my mom actually played when I had it for SNES and Genesis. I love this game to this day. I'd love to see a brushed up port of this.
If I remember correctly, GamePro said the regular Genesis version was the best of all of the ones they tested. I think they weighted gameplay, graphics, and sound. The Genesis was the most balanced.

@Redmund To enjoy his content is a testament to sega of america pre 1995. Sega of japan took the mantle afterwards. This is the birth of sonic running in a straight line and dying. But if you do it right...........................................
MegaMini....Perhaps?
I think the original system still sells under 50 bucks. You won't regret it.
Mine sits next to my Playstation.
“It had Konami’s name on it, so I had to give it a try”
Ahhh how times have changes
Tiny Toon Adventures ACME All-Stars is so extremely underrated. It is an incredible game to this day and I LOVED it in my childhood.
I bought this game few years ago, after found it out, it's a somewhat harsh game to master its (specially on soccer event) but the game is great, it had a high replayability value and I love it...
I must have rented Hyperstone Heist a million times from blockbuster
You probably could've just bought it outright instead of renting.
Had a friend who's Mom worked at Blockbuster and we would decide which games to get. Like 2 a week. It was sweet. :P
It was an Ok game.
I owned it. May still have it.
international superstar soccer was a huge succes in my country, it was the first football soccer simulator ever. It paved the way for winning eleven or PES years later
Rocket Knight Adventures is the best game on the Genesis imo. it took me years to finally decide which game was best.
Obviously you have no clue what you are talking about.
The best people from Konami later
founded Treasure and Gunstar Heroes as well as Alien Soldier are better than Rocket Knight Adventures.
And so are Thunderforce 4, Streets of Rage 2 and many others.
I would argue Gunstar Heroes was better.
It's a hard statement to make if you didn't played at least all of the AAA games of the system, but it's sure among the best of the Genesis library.
@@robojokes2274 it's almost as-if "best" is entirely subjective.

What Tiny Toones Game (all Consoles) Would be the best?
Agreed! A fun and colorful game. The boss battles were creative as well. I remember it being a somewhat hard game though, and I was never able to beat the game back in day. I only remember to getting to the boss battle of that red head girl. Makes me want to hook up the Sega to see if I can beat it now lol.
@@stevenr224 There was a tiny toons game on the original nes that was good too! But avoid all the PlayStation tiny toons games!!!
ISSD is HUGE here in Brazil! There are even t-shirts of allejo, the striker of the brazillian team of the game.
Though not made by the same company. I was surprised to find out that Zombies ate my Neighbors had a sequel the other day.
Ghoul Patrol
ghoul patrol i have on my collection. do you have idea how much it cost? loose copy
It IS made by the same company. They guy in this video forgot to mention thet it’s NOT made by Konami. Both games are made by Lucasfilm Games. Konami only published the first one
Metal Warriors
Contra: Hard Corps is the best Contra ever made imho! The speed and intensity is second to none!
We got the probotector version in the uk but it's still just as intense
Too hard, so its too much of an acquired taste. Fine if it's your fav but it's almost inaccessible in its difficulty
Daniel Rivera play the non tampered Japanese version, the real version of the game with the hit points
Also called probotector in Australia. Loved playing it as a kid. Clocked it. Also heaps of hidden areas in the game.
In some ways, I actually find it better than the Snes Classic.
because it is better
That run button. Plays much better as a result.
@@ThugShiTzu is not better
@Shawn Macdonald The Genesis version sounds more like the Arcade version. (More similar hardware) Only thing not good is the voices. Otherwise the levels are larger and the gameplay is much more responsive. That run button makes it play sooo much better.
Amazing considering it's an outsourced last minute cash in.
Man, I want a copy of Snatcher on Sega CD so bad. Like, so so bad. But I’m not paying $800 for it.
@simon woods I don't think it requires a mod for that, but I think it's region locked which would require it for playing imports.

Tell me about it. They used to be such a great company. Put out so many classics in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Then they just stopped giving a fuck.
@Detective Biggles What, are you idiots really going to act like they didn't release a contra game last year, only to be hated on? Also, they just released Sunset riders on the switch. Here's hoping more of this is on the way. Also, screw your ridiculously stupid comments. Maybe if you actually cared about buying the games, Konami might actually care to release anything. @@13Gangland yeah but Contra was trash, looked like trash, and didn't deserve the Contra name.
I am expecting Rocket Knight Adventures in this video. Loved that game.
Edit: 7:42 and there it is
It should be noted that even though Hyperstone Heist used recycled assets, it did have one new asset - the version exclusive boss Tatsu, who was Shredder's right hand man in the first 2 TMNT live action movies of the early 90's.
I miss sparkster and rocket knights games in the mini génesis 😢
I love Konami's output for Sega during the 16-bit era. Rocket Knight Adventures is one of the greatest games of all time as far as I'm concerned. Among the many games in my collection I also own Lethal Enforcers 1 & 2 for the Mega CD along with both the blue and player 2 pink light guns. I had no idea how much the pink player 2 light gun sells for these days!

Still remember playing Lethal Enforcers with both guns by myself when my friend wasn't around. Wish I still had both guns because I really wanted to play it again when I got the game again on the everdrive.
Great video SLX I really enjoyed this. I forgot sometimes that the Genesis /megadrive could put out such nice graphics.
Nice outro by the way 👍
SLX: If I were to make a genesis hidden gems video...

ISS Soccer... is basically what would become Pro Evolution Soccer, it was so awesome back then.
After capcom and Konami i whis see a video of DataEast on MegaDrive, great arcade ports... Awesome video, as always.
Tiny Toons I had that cartridge. Loved that game, a very lengthy one.
But this is probably some bootleg cartridge ;-)
i want to correct myself, i think it's a Chinese cartridge ;-)
Lol it turns out April o Neil was as skilled a fighter as the turtles and shredder.🤔
Its a good day when you post a new video. I love your channel, thanks for all the great content!
You keep finding ways to captivate your audience. You are a true SEGA Lord!
I've played this on both the SNES and Sega Genesis, they had subtle changes, but for the most part, virtually the same.
Great video!
This is a great video, I love these series you've been making. Just recently found your channel and love the production and information.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors was my shit as a kid. I still have my childhood copy, box and all.

"Rocket Knight Adventures" - my favorite Genesis game of all time. The music alone is unbelievably good for this system.
I often put the game in the console just to listen to the tracks. Unbelievable!
I remember picking up Tournament Fighters from the video store and thinking it was going to be the same as the SNES version and being so upset. It was such a fucking hard game too, the AI was just so insanely tough.
I don't understand with only 3 buttons available why they would waste one of them for just taunts, makes the game even harder
Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure
That is all.
What can I say dude, you nailed it right out of the ol' ball park as usual.
You killed me with your description on how adult Snatcher is, hahaha
Can confirm Buster's Hidden Treasure comes cheap complete, but it was a happy find on a Gainesville trip.
And of yes, just SEEING the box of Rocket Knight Adventures behind the counter at Kay-Bee guaranteed I had to try it.
The only way to play hyperstone heist is by changing the turtle's color to comic. 😎
Rocket Knight Adventures is so great.
The music is awesome, especially the 3rd stage music!
Unlike Capcom, Konami actually tried although I still think Sunset riders could have been better.
What do you mean??
@@Theshark15z He means Konami released some AAA exclusive software that was developed in house for the Genesis. When it wasn't AAA it was still done in house and usually of good quality. Capcom on the other hand didn't do one in house exclusive for the Genesis.
While there were some good games released by Capcom they were ports of the SNES assets and didn't really take full advantage of Genesis hardware.
Capcom didn't give a sh*t about Genesis
There is a color hack for the game.
Capcom killed it in the early 90s, and the early 2000s. The playstation 3, xbox 360 console wars killed capcom. Remember lost planet?
HUGE fan of the Animaniacs game on Genesis, it does a great job making each character distinct, the graphics are solid and the music is super catchy. Konami in general killed it on the Genesis, some underwhelming games notwithstanding. Thanks for the overview!
Oh man Snatcher is so amazing, I play through it ever few years. Lightgun and all.

TXH for this good video about Konami on Sega Genesis ;)
Great video. This is a time where I remember very well. A time where Konami still meant something. That sure as Hell ain’t today.
My favorite Konami Sega Genesis games are Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure and Rocket Knight Adventures.
Zombies ate my neighbors was one of my favorite games of all time

I rebought Tiny Toons Buster's Hidden Treasure because of this video. I sold it decades ago thinking it's inferior to Buster Busts Loose. But they are very different games. Also, your Genesis captures are amazing and it's awesome that you use the Mega SG to capture them! Your additional notes in your videos are a great idea!
Zombies Ate my Neighbors. This was the one game my mom actually played when I had it for SNES and Genesis. I love this game to this day. I'd love to see a brushed up port of this.
I think you're a little too hard on Lethal Enforcers, it doesn't look that bad
If I remember correctly, GamePro said the regular Genesis version was the best of all of the ones they tested. I think they weighted gameplay, graphics, and sound. The Genesis was the most balanced.
Surprised that a lot of these gems didn't saw a release in Japan, making you wonder why that was case. Have good one, Sega Lord X!
The market wasn't there for them in Konami's opinion and they were probably right.
I have loved Rocket Knight for decades and I'm glad you said "it's that damn good" here!
