I love sega consoles. I once got given as a child, a entire collection of sega gear, both cd drives, 3 mega drives, a 32x and mastersystem addon and HEAPS of games like an entire collection and it was the only console i'd play. When we had a garage sale my parents sold it all for $100 (2003). It has always been on my mind and as i grew up I'd try buying the same games and systems I'd lost. It has cost me close to $2000 (Aus) and I'm only halfway buying. This comment was written in frustration and is out of context but I hope this comment just stresses the point not to sell your old consoles cos it will cost you many hours of work to get back.

The Sega Genesis Collection for PS2 was my first experience playing these games ever, having never grown up with them on the actual Genesis console in the 90's and was the first game collection that got me into retro gaming back in the late 2000's.

I'd love to check out Contra Hard Corps and Ghosts n Goblins on Genesis.

2:42:10 I had the exact opposite experience with Quartet. I loved the arcade game as a kid but I had an NES. I never knew there was an home version of Quartet until I was an adult and start watching retro game videos on youtube. I bought a cartridge off of ebay as soon as I found out just so I could have a physical copy of one of my favorite childhood games.

Genesis hardware is fun to tinker with. I no longer have the space for the huge stack of add-ons that it takes though. I wound up selling my setup a few years ago and now use emulators like Hyperkin. It's really interesting stuff for a hardware geek like me to tinker with though. I kinda miss it at times.

I was playing Sonic and Toejam and Earl, Taz, Thunder Force (spaceship violence was okay). I never played Space Harrier or Golden Axe or Shining Force. Now that I'm almost 40 I have to wonder is it even worth going back and trying to understand all this stuff I missed?

Mastering games about platforming, fighting, fork lift driving, light gunning, deep sea fishing, daytona drifting, maraca shaking (!), street thug thrashing, 18 wheeler delivering, Ferrari shifting, graffiti spraying, rally racing, twin stick mech battling, cosmic tennising, after burning - just to name a few. No one other game company had the guts or just sheer cool factor to cover their range.

@@RWL2012 Havent been up there for a year or two but it was still going strong when i was there last. Its a funny place. They market it as a "family fun center" which means a fair number of kids running around, along with mini golf and stuff like that---but its large enough that you can usually find a quiet row of many games and just pull up a stool and waste away the hours. Its in a rather "remote" area of USA, so if you plan to go there, figure on perhaps visiting Maine (portland, etc) or camping, or maybe a Canadian visit too. Not exactly near major metro area at all. Thats what makes Funspot unique--its like...almost old-time arcade without any glamor to it--its a huge building with tons of rare arcade games in an almost random out of the way place.

Great video! Just an important thing to know, the wondermega ( sega or jvc first model) doesn’t have rgb output, only s-video or composite. The X Eye was thé US model and has the rgb like you said

I used to wake up early in the morning. Collect my allowance at the door. Feed a stray cat at the shrine. Say hi, to my girlfriend as I passed by her place of employment at the flower shop. Finally reaching my destination, You Arcade. Where I blew that entire allowance on Space Harrier.

@@eastcoastitalian6179 It's true, and it's one of the reasons I have an original Xbox hooked up right now. It was Soul Calibur 2, especially, that sold me on the idea. I love the relationship, but only wish I had a massive green box with a SEGA logo on it.

Ive played my two og model 1 Sega Genesis systems through composite video on my CRT-TV and they look good slightly muddy but not horrible like said here, so its a matter of opinion.

To me, Alys was always "Alysa" - it was obvious to me that the Phantasy Star developers had to use 4 characters for names due to hardware constraints and that proved challenging in the localization. They probably struggled with renaming her "Lisa" since it would fit in the limited space they had but they stuck with "Alys" and hoped we'd pronounce it "ah-leece" ...

Owner of many console since the Master System 2....I hava moved all the consoles in the attic and condensed everything in a PC up to PS3 emulation.....a lot of people talk about lagging bla bla bla....i have no felt that and happy to have crisp images via emulation
