- What's it like living in Pennsylvania? Well, you've got many different regions of the state, including Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and central PA, which is mostly farms and country.
In addition, you have a distinct culinary cuisine, the battle between Wawa and Sheetz, and the fact that many people here don't like living here. But they stay.

Coming from this state...this video is 90% accurate. Anyone else from PA??
Yeah, BETHLEHEM 😆🤭✨
Most of them are correct .But i like the natural scenery of PA .
I am from southern Pa ..Hanover..and I lived in Shrewsbury also and I love it all..Pa is awesome..Maryland sucks!! And if you are miserable then find Jesus..oh a lot of Christians live here also...oh did I mention we are not flooded out like 15 other states? Maybe we aren't that bad after all!

Hello fellow Pennsylvanian me in pine grove
How could you forget Hershey Park, Knoebels and the rampant amount of Confederate flags flown about despite not being in the South ??
Tater Tootin and Dorney Park, Six Flags like so many great places in PA
Id like to assume that to maintain balance, for every pennsylvanian that moves to central or south Fl, a southener has to move to PA.
You are not alone in the confederate flag department. This is common in parts of Arizona, especially among biker gangs. 🐯
Tater Tootin yessss

I live in Pennsylvania, and this is pretty accurate. Especially The part were we don’t fix pot 🕳
The beer thing is wrong its pottsvile not pottstown
Yeh just love paying the highest gas tax price for the worst roads of any state for the pot holes that never get fixed
Y'all have never even left the state, have you? New york, Ohio, and wv all have roads that are sooo much worse than ours.
Doyouevendrivebro?
They don't call Pa the pothole state for nothing
Omg the taxes here are crazy.
Pennsylvania is at the perfect spot where you get freezing winter and scorching in summer
OMFG YESs
And humidity all year
Me in the winter: IT'S COLD. I MISS THE HEAT
Me when it's summer: WHERE IS THE SNOW
Damn right, brother.
I do not have that experience. I've lived here for about a decade now and summertime is basically a few hot spells surrounded by rain for just a very short few months and then you have about 7 months of just clouds and misery.
I live in York County PA and I find it to be a very nice place. PA has a lot of natural beauty and lakes, rivers and public parks to enjoy. It is a great agricultural state also and feeds a lot of people in the Northeast. It also has significant natural energy resources. And yes PA has less than average snobs and so called elites.
My father was born In Pa. I never lived there. but when he passed away, I took some of his ashes to his hometown and spent over a month in the north central and south central small towns.
I found it totally refreshing and beautiful, and most everyone I met were pleasant and very decent people. I didn't want to leave. People were so welcoming to me. I was only going to stay a week and stayed 6 weeks.
And yes, Sheetz, it was in the area. I traveled a lot, and I can tell you no matter where you go, there's always idiots but I didn't meet any on my trip up there. Now if you want to be treated rude and see crazy people, go to New Mexico. They don't like anyone that isn't from there. I grew up there, left and when I went back 20 years later, I was told I didn't belong there.....LOL Thank God I still had school friends that still lived there.
Drugs are everywhere all over the country. Some times you don't know what you have till it's gone......You have a beautiful state and good people.. Don't forget that.
great points. I'll be in northeast PA next month I'll look for some of those small charming towns! your dad sounds like he was a great guy ;)
@@NickJohnson My father was from and old mining town: Williamstown. He left during WWll. But I really enjoyed Mercersburg and Shippensburg, too. Was fascinated with the Amish and how they manage to get along in the Willow Hill area. 99% of people I met in Pa. were very nice. Hope to go back and get out of the rat race crazy big cities. :) Compared to New Mexico and DFW now, prices are better in Pa by a long shot as well as taxes. Ha ve fun, just watch for those potholes...LOL
I love that area of PA. Up along I80. Everyone you run into is cool. Down around Philly and the burbs being mean mugged by strangers is the default. It is tough to make new acquaintances outside of people you work with.
@@misterm5325 Philly is the hell hole of Pa. I was told to avoid that area at all cost due to drugs and crime. It's sad what is happening to our cities all over the country. And yes to the I-80 towns...good people. Wish I would have made the move up there 3 years ago. Will still consider it if things settle down from the chaos with wars, politics, and Gov overreach. Best wishes to you.
@@creed4022 ive lived in pa my whole life and spent tons of time in philly. Honestly its just a place you have to get used to and its got its rough spots like any big city but generally if you mind your business and dont piss ppl off theres a ton of fun stuff to do in philly
Hershey! Knoebels! How could you miss these treasures!?
Also in addition to steel and coal, the rail industry has deep roots in PA.
And it's Pottsville. Yeungling is made in Pottsville.
Railroad is definitely big. Reading railroad is even on the monopoly board
Yes Knoebels. Free admission amusement park.
DAMN RIGHT
I love Knoebels, especially the phinox
I love the enthuasim but also add in LITTLE LEAGUE to that list
Also you forgot Turkey Hill
YES!!
Gallon of turkey hill iced tea is like gold in PA
Yess!!
Yes
Rutters chocolate milk
"PA has high taxes"
Me: *Laughs in New Yorker*
As a NYS serf, I find our gas prices exorbitant, and the snow (especially near the Adironkacks) is NOT for the meek.
So, what's so bad about PA?
Yup felt that
Notice he said gas tax. We have it good compared to NY. No state sales tax on clothes, food from the grocery store, and some personal products. That's why New Yorkers shop for clothing in PA.
We may hate a lot things ( state government in Harrisburg ) but most Pennsylvanians do love our state. We love our hometowns and our sports teams the most. I'm proud to say I am a yinzer! Wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I tired but got homesick and came back to where I belong.

Yes 100% there are some that you would literally bottom your car out down here in Mercer
I’ve lived in Pennsylvania my entire life and never once thought it was boring. I live in a rural area and love every bit of it. You just gotta appreciate the nature here and the smaller things in life to love this place. This was very opinionated

Nick hates PA. BTW Nick, PA is a commonwealth. Why didn’t you mention the Mainline, Valley Forge National Park, Hershey, the nicer parts of Pittsburgh, Society Hill, U of PA and more? Best, PA
I live in rural Pennsylvania and I actually really love it here.
Good!
Where in PA do you live and love?
I'm not from Pennsylvania, but I love learning about all the states, what would you say makes up your state identity?
I live in York and everywhere is just nice but still the winters and the summers
@@dinosaurcj Im from PA, we're too diverse to really have a true identity.
Winters are brutal, summers are humid and hot. Right now we're in between, where in the morning you might need the furnace, and by 7pm it's 84° in the house and you need the AC.
Accurate bro
Adam Matis true words...
i live in delaware county and i gotta say, you couldnt have said truer words. winters are absolutely terrible. and the summers beat down on you like a rock. edit: and the "cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon" thing is very true in the spring-to-summer transition
Literally every morning on the way to work, blast the heat. On the way home AC. Its insane.
Aha so true.
How could you forget Hershey Park and Knoebels???

Back again as I have to talk to customer in PA later and I always start here when I need to learn about a state. Love your videos and the variety of info on the states you give, plus the humour.
My roots and most of my life were spent in different parts of PA. I know the state very well and honestly it is nothing like portrayed in this video. PA is a beautiful state with extremely rich history (Quakers) beautiful old buildings and homes and scenery not found anywhere else in the country. There is so much to the state that is awesome, except for the politicians who currently run the state. They are terrible. The people are as down to earth as you can get. I prefer the rural areas of Pa. I lived in Pittsburgh and it is or was a beautiful very unique city, so full of history. I also spent much of my life in Chester County and Snyder county, both gems in the state. Very unique and beautiful places. I just don’t recognize the state you are talking about. It makes me sad to hear all the negativity. You just have to be away for awhile I guess to appreciate how beautiful a state Pa really is
In England they drive on the left side of the road
In Pittsburgh we drive on what’s left of it
Hayley I wish I heard that before that's great 😃

Can confirm. Six guys outside blocking two roads and only one of them is working rn
Did you ever see the picture of the dead racoon that Penndot painted the yellow line over? Funny picture.
I'm moving back to Philly from living a long time in Arizona. I like it there so much and I'm well aware of its deep issues. Philly friends are loyal and true.
If you need a realtor in Philly let me know
Sick of Arizona myself, came from a English Mill Town iand looking for the American version, thinking of trying PA. This video a little off putting so going to take a road trip soon and check it out for myself! Your comment is a bonus as forgot friends like that still exists 😄
the friend thing is true... that is something someone who googles and drives through will never know
I disagree on the philly friend thing. Maybe as your young. But as you get older, I've realized they will stab u in the back when your not looking
Yuengling is brewed in PottsVILLE not PottsTOWN
Yea right its pottsville. I live in pottstown and there nothing here. No stores. The big box store killed the local store.
I was going to say that I live in Pottstown
I was going to say this too. Glad someone else got to it before me.

Bucks County is awesome. It's on our short list for retirement. It's close enough to NYC and Philadelphia for day trips to the city, with good transportation links, yet has a pleasant small town atmosphere. You also failed to mention that Pittsburgh is one of the best looking cities in the USA, setting steep hills at the confluence of two major rivers.
Pa is awesome. We got Middleswarth potato chips, Hershey Park, Knoebels, beautiful views of sunsets, mountains and valleys. Amazing campgrounds, restaurants, resorts and so on. I’ve always been happy living here in Central Pa. I love this place and will never leave.

Pennsylvania: the lack of road work state
I remember, back in the 70s, a trucking magazine would vote Pennsylvania the number one worst roads in the country every year. Things haven't changed.
Lol truth. People from other states think we exaggerate the how bad the roads here are. I've been to a lot of different states, and their roads aren't even close to as bad as roads here are
The only way to catch someone drunk driving is by looking at who hits all the potholes on the road the people swerving are sober
Dan skursky lmaoo
It is very true.

What about the Lehigh Valley, the Poconos and Appalachian Trail and the fact that it was where the first oil wells were drilled? Lots of good stuff still happening all over Pennsylvania!
I am glad you posted this!
This isn't super accurate if you live in/near Philly or Pitt. The cities/suburbs tend to be more fun, diverse, etc etc.
Liz Exists that’s what I was thinking too!!!! Coming from west Philly suburbs
Exactly!!! Pittsburgh suburbs are so nice and quaint. I never feel really threatened when I go downtown, and I find that everywhere I go the people are nice! The roads aren’t great I WILL give the video that 😂
Liz Exists my subburb is basically a mini philly. It’s considered a “tourist town” because a lot of people pass through on their way to philly. The Main Street is nice and they keep the area around our high and middle schools nice (on the same street) but my town is full of crimes and drugs. I’d say about 80% of the people I know are either on or dealing drugs
Agreed. There is PA and then phila and pitty...nothing like PA

Story time for a PA resident: my grandpa belonged to a hunting club for years. Every year him and his hunting buddies would go up to their cabin at beginning of hunting season, who ever got the most/best kills won a trophy. One year they didn’t shoot anything. Nothing. The last day of hunting season my grandma hit a deer with her car. Since she was the only one that killed a deer that season they gave her the trophy.

You didn´t mention Allentown (3rd biggest city) or the rest of the Lehigh Valley metro area and lumped us in with the rural mountain communities of Northeast PA. Allentown has about 120,000 people spread out over 18 square miles and is about 50% Latino. A lot of stuff is in Spanish and you can get all sorts of yummy Puerto Rican and Dominican food. PA is more classy and interesting than Ohio and more laid back than NK.
The weather here is also much better than other states
I live in Pennsylvania and it's a beautiful state. Has its faults as every state does.
Well, our Summers can be ungodly humid, but that's about it.
Get out more...
I was looking for a comment like this. Thank you
Not gonna lie, when I visited Pennsylvania years ago, I fell in love with Wawa
Problem is that they have a monopoly here. Give me some Speedway, Turkey Hill, Royal Farms...
Ok, Im from PA but what the hell is Wawa
@@hmpz36911 I’d rather eat speedway food than sheetz
My greatest memories born and raised in Pennsylvania in the '70s and '80s going to the concerts at the "Spectrum" I saw over 40 concerts going to the Baseball games Football, Hockey, Basketball, going to South Street to the clubs that would stay open till 5:00 a.m🍻🍻.Best times in my life..Go Eagles.🦅🏈🦅👍
As a fellow Pennsylvanian I can confirm this😂😂
F rosty yea same I live in Kennett near Lancaster
This is so bias against Pennsylvania
ya but it was fun to watch lol
Yeah, I almost wanted to stop watching halfway through, but wanted to see what else would be said.
Also, Yuengling is from Pottsville not Pottstown.
But is it really though?
that guy I may also be a bit biased because I love my home, the only other state I’d wanna live in would be Texas.
Matthew Hurd true
Was considering relocating here and ruled it out due to this video - thank you!
I spent two years of undergrad at Bucknell University, which was deep in the heart of Pennsyltucky. I could smell the manure on parts of campus at certain times of year. LOTS of VERY religious folk. Good people, though. I also spent one year living in Lancaster. I think many outsiders aren't aware that although Lancaster County is famous for Amish, Lancaster itself is actually a city with a pretty urban feel to it. Nonetheless, I still remember a couple of times where I spotted an Amish horse and buggy passing my apartment building on the street below. You probably wouldn't see THAT in many other cities. I do enjoy the local Amish food. Anything from shoo fly pies to apple dumplings to apple fritters. Horehound candies, too. It's custom in Central PA to eat grits with maple syrup--again, that weird blend of northern and southern traditions. And then there's Philly. I had a couple of friends from high school who went to UPenn, and I'd come visit them occasionally. We all agreed that Philly was VERY ghetto. We once rode the subway to 69th Street together, and to the amazement of my friends, we didn't get shot. We did, however, see plenty of bullet holes in the glass at stations along the way (50th-ish streets). I'm not even going to get into the horror show that is the Philadelphia International Airport. Let's just say that if you've always wanted to get stranded somewhere, then arrange for a layover in Philadelphia, and your wish will come true!
I dont know if i should be offended or be happy about this video ! 🤣🤣🤣
But it had alot of facts , and i did learn alot too.
Grammar lesson of day- a lot is 2 words not one.
YEAH WE KNOW WE HAVE THE BEST GOD DAMN CHEESESTEAKS IN THE WORLD. THANK YOU
Best food, period. Everyone in this state is fat for a reason
@@redram5150 yeah, you aren 't speaking for everyone.
@@garycarraigeacha8794 haha
Primanti sanwiches are better.
I fear if I move, I'll never have a good roll again.
you have a nice channel dude. i like mappy and da old lady!! how awsome!!
She has a name it's Karen
I have lived in PA my whole life and this video is 100% true
PA isn’t even thatttt bad wtf 😭 and how did you forget Hershey Park and Knoebels
How he forget allentown and dorney Park
randy reyes I went to Dorney Park in an 8th grade trip in June 2018 and it was very memorable. He should’ve included Dorney Park.
Dude I understand about him not mentioning Hershey, I live there and COME ON it’s such a big part of PA
Right. In the beginning he was just being rude about PA depending where you live it's not that bad. He was acting like the whole state was bad.
And Dorney Park in Allentown PA.
Thank you for pronouncing Lancaster correctly. Lol
Omfg I was thinking the same thing! When they force the second "a" in LancAster I cringe. It's Lancister if it's pronounced right lol.
I live in Lancaster and it pisses me off when they say it wrong! My dad lives in New Jersey and says it wrong all the time. It’s Lang-Kis-Ster!!!!
Oh okay, so that’s how you say it! I wasn’t really sure if it was Lan-cAster or Lancister. That clears things up!
Omg hello my fellow Lancaster folks lol I totally agree with y’all it totally bothers me when people pronounce it wrong
Yeah, we care about the way it’s pronounced! Haha. I mean we boo’d a future president for getting it wrong.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh..you nailed this🤣 only good thing about the snow is it fills in the potholes until new ones appear. We drive wherever to avoid hitting them and alongside deer who refuse to move off the road.
As someone from Wilkes Barre.....this is accurate like scary accurate however I now live in Idaho and I’m so happy I’m out of PA and the only reason I’d go back is to be with my family
me too. except I went to Texas.
sheetz vs wawa debunked:
wawa has much better food while sheetz tends to have a better snack selection
pie man I live near Reading, which has both sheetz and wawa on every corner. i’m very loyal / biased to wawa but sheetz isn’t bad
PA: If yinz ain't from here don't come here. Keep it moving
If youse ain't from around here. Better leave this jawn
Jake Hornung 😂😂😂
AMEN!!!
Gotta love my WAWA!! I lived in Philadelphia and a suburb of Philadelphia called Bucks County. It’s in SE PA. Bucks County is pretty nice especially the western part. Go Phillies and Eagles! E-A-G-L-E-S!
Very Interesting
Love PA! Lived here all my life! Yes gas prices are high, our accents are unique, and we say hoagie lol. But nothing beats the fall foliage with all of our trees and backroads. Not to forget the streets of Pittsburgh with the sights, history, and friendly people!
Driving from reading to butler during the fall is great. It is a beautiful state!
*lives in Pennsylvania* *sees video* OH BOY I HATE THIS STATE LETS SEE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THING HUH?
Starvattz * lmfao same
I hate Pennsylvania too, I want to move so bad
I hate PA too
Same. I hate it here.
I love pa so much
Downward Dog was such an amazing show and made me want to move to Pittsburgh
I've been going to philly my whole life from DE and I gotta say people in philly are actually really nice from what I've experienced. I would say philly is just getting bleed-in from Wilmington
