      Yeah buddy, best thing about Tampa is the Lightning, the Rays (best in season 2019) and the Mike Calta show... and Drew Garaboa(I knew him from Orlando) traffic blows but its typical of any city. Best part about Florida is you can affect you local politician and/or representative for better. Most are locals themselves. Don't take that for granted, take advantage, it counts.

I remember what happened in my county...and you are right about snow birds living in the most expensive areas because a tourist economy doesn't create a lot of high paying jobs. Many native Floridians live in poverty . People who make alot of money in other states and come to florida and live great while the average floridian is struggling. It is a reason why i dont like snow birds and people from other states. Right now in my city we have a 40 million dollar sports complex but are closing schools because its not in the budget. 40 million dollar ball park that has 80% minimum wage jobs. But the guy behind it was rich and a non floridian so he doesnt have a vested interest in the local people. Hes a snow bird too.

    After living in Central Florida most of my life here's some pros & cons.
    PROS: You can literally drive to the beach on impulse whenever you want, if you're not feeling the beach there is plenty of springs and other state parks that are easily accessible even in Orlando are closes being a 20 minute drive away. It never get insanely cold. If you live in an urban area there's always something to do or see. It's very diverse and culture is everywhere. There are great schools in Florida from elementary up to college depending on what part of Florida you live in. Hospitals are top of the line in Orlando at least. Night life is amazing in the larger cities.
    Cons: it gets hot, ike Satan stealing your soul hot. Traffic can get really bad in some areas depending on the time of day and dri ving in some parts such as I4 is quite dangerous (I've already flipped my car once). It rains quite frequently especially in the summer/ fall. There's a lack of affordable housing in Orlando (in the suburbs of Orlando a nicer single bedroom apartments are normally $1000+ a month and okay two bedrooms are around $1200+ a month). Well paying jobs a few and far between if you don't have a higher education. There is a massive homelessness problem in Florida no matter where you go and our mental health system is not very good. Hurricanes happen regularly, but if you're in an area where it's not to bad aka not on the coast we just get drunk and party all day. In rural areas of Florida such as where I was I was originally born (lake county area) there isn't much to other than enjoy nature.
    In my life's experience I've come to love everything about Florida especially my city Orlando. Yes there are some crazy, racist, crappy people here, but also average people living there life.

    As a Floridian myself, yeah this is all pretty accurate. The only thing missed was definitely i-4. It is the worst interstate to drive on. Going 10 over the 70 mph speed limit is the standard and a quarter of the people driving go 20 or more over. Turn signals don't exist and people will just cut you off left and right.

    • @Elivayshon
      @Elivayshon 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It's unfortunate because listen, I'm from up North personally, but I never liked and still don't like speeding. I only go faster if I'm in the passing lane, but otherwise, I like taking my time and driving carefully. It pisses me off that people down here don't know how to drive. Impatient person up my rear, excessively slow person in front. I-4 is truly the highway of death. A lot of times, I seriously wish that all the Northerners could go back home and that those Yankee politicians could STOP RAISING THE DAMN TAXES ON EVERYTHING. It's coming to the point where once I have enough money I'm actually going to be moving out of this state to somewhere else where it's quiet and no one really bothers you. I live in Thonotosassa right near Temple Terrace, and trying to go onto Fowler Ave any day is like trying to walk through a forest of thorns. It's a pain in my rear.
      But, it's all about managing. Yet again, doesn't mean there ISN'T something we can do about any problems here.

    As a " Florida Man ", lol. I'm a native, born and raised ( currently living in Tallahassee ) and I think it's safe to say that we all here appreciate the love and recognition !
    However allow me to point out a few things :
    1. We actually get some cold weather. Especially in North Florida. We literally got down to the high 40's just about 2 weeks ago and it was still in April. So yea, it's not the negative, the teens, and 20's that a lot of northern states might get but cold is cold.
    2. We now have 2 hockey teams.
    3. You forgot to mention that we have the best beaches in the continental US.
    4. Not all of us " Florida Men " are crazy. We're just "different" and I know me saying that isn't helping the case any but it's true, lol.
    5. Publix is the bomb ! Go buy a sub from there ( get the Boars Head products whether it's meats or cheese ) and you'll love Publix too !
    Either way... I'm loving this series. Now I'm curious about some of the other states. Keep up the great content.

    • @bdoglance
      @bdoglance 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      haha, ain't that the truth about the cold! He must of not got the news that in the winter northern Florida is brown. we might have a winter that last two/ three weeks, but it is enough the kill the grass, and you better bet ya we are wrapped in layers of clothes. the 40s to the 60s might seem nice to our northern state cousins, but we are only built for the heat.
      p.s -Don't even get me started when it got down into the teens a few years back! I thought i was going to die from exposure! it didn't help that it was sleeting heavily (i didn't even know that was a thing until it happened) and windy. You could hear the branches on the trees breaking like glass because the water and sap in them was frozen solid.

      1 professional hockey team? You forgot about the Tampa Bay Lightning! Also, Florida grass is brown because we don't usually get enough rain. We're in droughts a big chunk of the year so we have water restrictions. If you see green grass, it's probably painted, which yes, that's a thing: grass paint. Flying roaches are called Palmetto Bugs. We have probably the most sinkholes in the US. We don't pay state taxes: Tourists and snowbirds pay our taxes. You should probably mention the Florida Sunshine Law which is why "Florida Man" is seen all over the country. It's stuff that happens everywhere. We're just picked on because of that law. As you've mentioned: Most people are not born here. They've moved here. So it's not actually "Florida Man". It's "Transplant Man".

    Overall, I can't give this a thumbs up, even though much of what he said was accurate. Showing farm and beach scenes that were probably filmed in California didn't help. Here's a clue, if you see mountains, even hills or beach side cliffs, then it's not Florida. Florida is perhaps the flattest state in the country, although Kansas would be a close second.
