    I have had 5 sit/stand desks for various apartments and offices. One I got cheap off Wayfair, which I regret. It lacked the height range, and I underestimated the annoyance of holding the button down without a memory option. All my Uplift Desks have been excellent quality, even my cheapest. Went with 60" wide pheasantwood for my latest. Expensive, but I love it. The company has upped their game from the time I got my first one 5 years ago. Fast delivery and easy to assemble now.

    • @pipe_dev_null
      @pipe_dev_null 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @UTTERMOSTUBER I think if you can swing it, the four legged version is probably worth it. That being said, I’d venture to guess the difference is not as substantial as the price difference would suggest. Do I wish I got the four leg? Sure. Am I also happy with my 2 leg? Sure am. I do wish I got a real wood top, but I ended up with the bamboo top. I’ll likely source a reclaimed wood top at some point in the near future as those are awesome looking.

    Great video. I also purchased the 4 leg version, but I got the cheaper laminate version. It was a bear to assemble alone, but well worth it in the end. Love the desk and couldn't be happier. I too recommend spending the extra for the 4 leg version (unless of course you're only going to have a monitor and printer or something like that). Otherwise, very nice and sturdy standup desk.

      Thanks for watching Reginald, and thanks for taking the time to comment on our little video. The 4 leg version is 100% the way to go, but agree with you that if you're not stressing a lot of weight on it then it's totally fine to save a little and go with the L-shape leg. I almost got the laminate version tbph, but the reclaimed wood was too alluring :D

      I just set up the UPLIFT L-shaped desk last weekend, also got the matching fixed table to match which gives me a large U-shaped work area. Also got 2 under desk CPU holders, one for tower and other for UPS which really helps with cable management using a UPS and 3 monitors. It was expensive but this is a very solid built desk. All parts are constructed very well with nice finishes, leg motors are smooth and quiet.

  • @gamophyte

    I like the idea it's solid wood. Sadly when I saw an ad for uplift the commenters complained that they've been waiting on their desk for months.

  • @solohelion
    @solohelion 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got the same four legged make. It's best to order the monitor arms from Uplift, because there is such a narrow rim on the back, that most monitor mounts from other companies won't work. You can install off-brand mounts through the grommet holes (if you have them), but the placement isn't ideal, and it blocks the grommet hole. Again, they won't be able to clamp onto the back side of the desk. The two legged desk doesn't put the same restrictions on the monitor mount selection. Uplift doesn't make a mount rated for 20 lb+ monitors. Great desk though, everyone who sees it is envious.

      Quick question regarding the desk, how sturdy is the desk with the 4 legs?
      Have you ever noticed any wobbles when you write something on a paper, type on a keyboard fast, or moving around the mouse quickly? I am a bit sensitive and my current desk wobbles which makes my monitors shake (texts move around slightly) just a bit when I am typing, and it drives me nuts :( It would be awesome if you can share your experience with us in terms of the sturdiness of the desk!
      Thanks for your help in advance.

    • @Clockwork9
      @Clockwork9  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s quite sturdy. I will say with the monitor arms they do have an ever so slight wobble, but you have to really be hammering the keys. It’s there at times, but it’s really not that bad. Other than that, writing on it there doesn’t feel like any wobble and nothing else on the desk moves.

    TLDR: Uplift will not exchange a faulty leg on a 1 week old desk. They will not honor their 15 year warranty and I do not recommend them to a new standing desk user.
    I don't often make comments like this but I had a recent Uplift Desk experience that has bothered me.
    I decided to go with Uplift desks mostly because of the warranty and customer service experience that some spoke of, while I understand they are overpriced, quality and customer experience is important to me so I did not mind.
    My desk arrived less than a week ago and the right side leg was faulty out of the box it makes a knocking sound when lowered and my desk shakes back and forth. My girlfriend who shared my office labeled it as "annoying" without me telling her there was an issue and I agreed. I contacted their customer service team and provided them with pictures and a video that they require for proof, in the video you can clearly hear the knocking sound but it is difficult to tell the desk was shaking (filmed on my iphone). Here is their response:
    - "Good morning, I do appreciate the help. The warranty team did not notice an excess amount of movement or sounds. They did recommend if on carpet to loosen the Leveling Caps on the feet to give more support with the padding, and to possibly tighten the feet and legs. We do expect some movement in the desk. Please let me know if you have any questions or other details to share."
    I adjusted the feet and the shaking and knocking persisted. I found it to still be an issue prevalent enough to bother my girlfriend and I as I transitioned the desk. I sent the video to my brother who said that his uplift desk did not make a similar knocking noise and shake while being lowered. I asked the customer service rep if the leg was covered under warranty as I am looking for a leg exchange not a new free leg. This was there follow up:
    - "Good morning, The leg does have some sound as it lowers fully. The warranty team was unable to capture anything outside normal movement and sounds with the prior video. If you have any other details please let me know and I can help send it to the team to review. Please let me know if you have any questions."
    They charge a premium price and do not offer premium customer service or a premium product seemingly. I am just looking to swap my leg for another and was willing to cover shipping but their team will not cover a week old desk under their 15 year warranty, if you are considering uplift I would absolutely not recommend their company and if you have questions before you purchase PM me I would be happy to answer.

    Great video, I was hoping you'd get into why you didn't like the keyboard tray. When buying mine I am thinking about just using my already purchased humanscale keyboard tray, but in general I prefer to have my kb and mouse on the desk as you have it, I just can't find a keyboard tray that feels good.

      I meant to get into it, just completely slipped my mind. I felt the same way about every keyboard tray and I was hoping the Uplift one would be better, but it wasn't. I just hate keyboard trays in general, they flop around all the time and just generally feel very unstable, plus I prefer the placement up on my desk (as you do).

    Really good review! Thank you for the video. From your own judgement: do you think it's possible to mount a 33lbs keyboard with a keyboard tray on the front of this desk without the desk getting wobbly while playing on it around 45" height? Thanks for your answer!

    • @Clockwork9
      @Clockwork9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Karim! I'd imagine if you get a solid wood desk it would be pretty darn solid on there, the desk itself is pretty rock solid too. If this desk can't handle it, I doubt many could. Another consideration is their underslung rail system for mounting keyboard trays, it's nice. I took it off since I prefer to put everything on the surface, but it's a good keyboard tray for sure. The keyboard tray might get wobbly (which I don't like) but the desk is really solid with the solid wood.

    man you know I've been looking for a stand up desk but a couple of things keeps me from just jumping in. 1) no type of drawers with the stand up desk and I just feel for the money you spend you're really getting nothing but a desk with a electric motor. 2) im kind of OCD and man all I see is them damn wires running everywhere lol! well I guess I could get some type of wire organizers or something. just my 2 cents anyway a great video and I'll probably check out their site but maybe ill wait until they start adding some drawers to them UPDATE! • @Clockwork9
      @Clockwork9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the compliment! We're a creative agency that specializes in video/photo stuff for commercial work, but this is not a paid advertisement. I got the desk and thought it would be a good idea to do a before and after with my honest opinion. I spent a long time searching for a good standing desk and came up empty a lot. Most of them were very cheap looking. I watched a TON of reviews, read every article I could find and put together list after list with prices and specs.
      I settled on this one for a number of reasons, the primary one being that it checked all my boxes from the quality top to the rep of the company backing it. The warranty that it comes with is only as good as the company behind it. It wasn't a totally smooth journey after I got it, but I still love it. Uplift hasn't ever given us a dime and we don't have any contact with them (we tried to get a referral link but they declined) but I'm sure this video has sold them a lot of desks. They did put it in their newsletter way back when we first put the video out, but nothing aside from that.

    • @Clockwork9

      The texture is great. Smooth with a natural wood roughness to it that is softened by the coating. The monitor arms are clamped like normal arms, but the bar going across the back (and front) due to the 4 leg configuration makes it impossible to attach without first removing it.

      That's true, I had to remove the cross bar in the back but I kept the one in the front. That was what their support said to do. I went with the Uplift Pro arms, and they're great. Their reasoning was that since the top I had on the desk was so rigid, that I didn't really need the cross bars at all.
