The Kiriko age thing is so weird, because it's clear they made her to be the OW 2 golden child, and were so afraid to make her "older" that they made her 21, thus being almost 20 years younger than the guys she "grew with". And I don't get it, they already have two older women who through magic (science) are kept looking like they're in their 20's: Mei and Mercy. Just do that, say that they fox spirit keeps her young or something like that.
Or, just make her Hanzo's pupil or make him the guy who inspired the yokais. He doesn't have that much to do in the lore outside of being genji's brother and it wouldn't change anything about kiriko's lore.
I think Vivian’s gameplay is what makes her so boring. Imagine she had the same visuals but was pulling out crazy steampunk gadgets like Lies of P. Instead she’s just an AR character with an auto-aim ult. She’s even drier than Viktor, who was MADE to be the S76 clone.
@@fentanylfrog8403 Viktor is pretty high skill when you master nades and burst mode recoil. It's not rocket science, but still pretty fun especially when you can run around the map
@@fentanylfrog8403her ult isn't autoaim, or do i not understand what you are talking about? And Viktor wasnt made to be the S76 clone, he simply is the basic soldier archetype
Kriko feels like a higher up’s oc. She grew with Hanzo and Genji despite being way younger than them, she’s the only magic user in the game , and she’s basically Overwatch’s golden girl too.
Isn't Hanzo and maybe Genji also magic users? Those three characters all have strange "hologram" stuff. Gameplaywise and lorewise, the only thing that make Kiriko looks more magical than them is her healing. Maybe it's just real world accurate that every japanese knows magic and can climb walls...
@@Lord_Cow It wouldn’t be so bad if her personality didn’t feel like she was trying so hard to convince the audience she’s cool and hip, I could get over everything else if it weren’t for that lmao.
@@fenrirsrage4609I mean I’m pretty sure this is the best response to someone actually using the piss jar to argue that sniper has a unique gameplay loop, however here are two fun alternatives “💀” and just not responding in general. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this i shall now be purely using these strategies on whatever replies you make
Ana has a throwable that applies debuffs, Widow has a throwable that applies debuffs, and sure they aren’t jars of piss but the piss is just an aesthetic coating
I’d have to disagree with you, Mauga is by far the worst designed hero in Overwatch. His kit entirely misses the point on how a Tank should play. Mauga feeds of enemy tanks and was cancerous when he was strong.
Mauga is more a key issue with Overwatch's switch to 5v5 that made tanks ridiculously unkillable Kaijus. Paired with the fact that Mauga was also behind the Battle Pass paywall, incentivizing them to make him OP so they could sell the pass. But I agree, on release he was a menace
@@TheMacroShowactually the changes that made tanks unkillable was much after mauga released and he was and still is the worst designed character as well as hog being an honourable mention as he can’t do flanks and has no power outside of hook but his heal can’t even be punished since the rework
@@TheMacroShow Actually , you're both wrong. It's Widowmaker. The character plays outside of the interactable zone of basically every hero and the only thing she can do is one shot. She's, by design ,a character that cant interact with other players, which in a GAME, that's obviously a massive design flaw. Also, she's not fun to play with or against. Either the Widow is good and makes the game unplayable for the enemy, or she's bad and makes the game unplayable for her team. Its a coin flip hero, that by design just makes matches worse.
@@TheMacroShowMauga is much worse. New heroes like Ramattra and Junkerqueen are much better designed heroes in 5v5. Mauga selfsustain is too much. He just does way too much damage for a tank.
Yeah. At least when you die to a Spy that wasn't due to a facestab, it feels earned because he snuck up behind you and you weren't paying attention or climbed up some stairs and got stairstabbed. It's perfectly preventable but a Spy can still work around it. He FEELS like a fair oneshot character. Not Sniper. The best counterplay to Sniper is to not go into sightlines, which is boring as hell.
That’s how I also felt about spy’s whole thing about backstabbing, he’s perfect at attacking when his opponent doesn’t expect it, but don’t all classes work better when their opponent aren’t expecting them?
I am also in the opinion that sniper is the worst design in tf2, just we had to pick one. Out of any class in the game, Sniper's like only real counter is skill issue. Sure you can juke him and etc. but Aimbots just prove that when u can just quickscope most classes in the game, theres little room for counterplay on good snipers
Exactly, he's trying to show himself off, to prove that the outcasts have a place in the world, not to fade into the background but to stand out, the sneaking stuff is just him being goofy.
13:55 btw that's not actually her persona In her lore, it's said that she acts like a nerd to look like someone that "behaves". In reality, her glasses does nothing and she is kind of a reckless girl that got into a lot of fight if I remember correctly. That's some sick subvertion of stereotype for a backstory I think.
R6 Siege was built off of this idea of mystique. CTUs that arent supposed to be recognizable because they technically don't even exist. Fun fact: designing Echo/Hibana back in the day was a bit of a challenge bc when they were researching the SAT of Japan, they didn't get much because they "don't exist". That being said, I agree the original 20 ops were very samey looking but i also think it fit the game from a lore perspective and you more so notice the overall silhoutte of a character and their gadgets (sledge has a big hammer on his back, mute has his presence known in drone phase) before the actual character themselves in siege and thats why I think it works in favor for thatcher and everyone in SAS's design.
100% thank you for saying it. Operators like dokebi marked the beginning of their new approach to siege. Adding an iPad kid with Asian pop culture references to a game about counter terrorism was just a step in a terrible immersion breaking direction. From maps like Oregon, with real historical impact, to nighthaven labs, a sci fi pmc bade that is designed to play like an arcade shooter with 0 thought to strategy or realism. On another note doks ban rate is off the charts compared to thatcher in todays average players experience. Doks default skin could pass as an elite skin for some operators back in the day. Siege was great for introducing people to tactical shooters in a beginner friendly way. With most long term fans moving on to real tactical shooters like arma or tarkov. Year 9 siege is just “tactical” overwatch.
yeah now that I think about it none of the original ops are really that bad. The game really started to fall off when the game was just oversaturated and abilities were redundant, e.g. apply the argument made abt seer and bloodhound to jager and wamai. Also the attacker with the glass shield is what made me drop the game lmao.
@@noahpflanz6461nah why you hating on nighthaven? In terms of aesthetic I can understand, but in terms of strategy it’s a good map. And btw siege never has been even close to a tactical shooter ie arma or tarkov, it just had good aesthetics that have been sadly removed.
Admittedly I really enjoy playing him, but he doesn't exactly have depth. The most depth I've found with him is that using just his right gun on ignited enemies seems to build more health than using both guns on simultaneously. Depending on the situation, it can be smarter to stop trying to do the highest DPS possible and build some health for yourself before your target dies. The best rework idea I can think of for him is to stop rewarding him with continual gradual health gain on flaming targets. Instead reward him with a portion of health for every enemy he *initially* ignites. This would make him stop farming the enemy tank alone, and incentivize him to keep igniting multiple different enemies to keep himself topped off. It would increase his skill requirement by a LOT. You can make his right gun simply do extra damage on flaming enemies instead of building health to maintain the dual guns idea of his kit too.
Completely disagree about Thatcher being the worst designed character in R6. Macro deserves some slack though given that he doesn't have a ton of time into siege (likely only two digit hours) he's just looking into what he remembers and the ban rate during that time, and doesn't know of the balance history of the game as a whole. First, his design. The SAS operators do look similar since Ubisoft wanted to give the idea on launch that each CTU (or group of operators) should share the same aesthetic on top of looking grounded in reality. Each do look differently in some way that correlates with their personality and gadget. Sledge has a larger frame and has the hammer as a focus, Mute has the tape over his gas mask, and smoke has the more traditional mask with the longer nozzle to make him "the gas guy" over the other operators with gas masks. Thatcher doesn't have any of these in his initial design, but has painted union jacks on his grenades which differentiates him enough in my opinion. The reason that his ban rate was so high was because he fills a crucial role for breaching a main wall which is usually what ranked strategies revolve around. He's the only operator that can straightforwardly get rid of electricity or jammers that prevents his hard breacher from opening the reinforced wall. The only other way to really do this is to find angles to destroy them from a different direction or run an alternative (Maverick , Kali, Flores, or run impact EMP's) which had their own limitations that made them harder to use. Teams that got defense first would often ban thatcher just to screw over the attacking team's ability to straightforwardly open a wall that people were used to doing for years. Lion and Blackbeard at launch were atrocious at launch. Allowing someone to tank a headshot for free or be forced to stand still or get scanned (exactly like in apex) hurt the game considerably more then thatcher. Dokkaebi and Jackal also fall into this but more for just being easy and annoying then super game changing.
I put Lion over Blackbeard. While Blackbeard is far in away the most confusing operator they made from a game design choice, Lion om the other hand change how pro league fundamentally worked by banning new operators for their season and is probably the reason why pick and ban got implemented.
There is no slack to give. If you dont know the game, dont spread your dogshit takes to an audience that likely will never play it. Hes giving a design bad rap by taking it out of context, steering the conversation in a completely wrong direction.
Don’t worry, modern TF2 is quite divided on Sniper mainly due to his quickscopes. He’s a great character, but that one issue probably leaves him at last by default.
@@scumknight6074 And Spy is widely considered the worst class in the game. Not only does Spy have tons of bugs to this day, but Sniper can also just equip an item to completely counter spy's backstabs, which then make the spy have to shoot the sniper. What does that enable? A quickscope 150 damage headshot from a good sniper. Sniper is fundamentally broken because valve didn't expect someone to spend 10+ years playing a class to perfection to dominate entire lobbies. The only 'counter' to sniper is Sniper, and you better hope that you're better at second scoping.
Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is my favourite hero shooter. But my least favourite character would be General Supremo, because while there are worst characters than him, he annoys for being the least fun foot soldier variant to the point he is the only one I haven’t fully levelled
I don't think he's that bad. Sure, his limitations make him less fun than other soldiers, but sometimes you can just laser people down. Chomper's probably the worst character throughout all the shooters. He went from being a one-trick pony, in the first 2 games, that can't do jack shit just by someone standing ontop a roof to being a better sniper and area denial character than the actual sniper and area denial characters in BFN. Man went from a pure melee class with no movement options to a melee class that didn't need movement options because he could just snipe people across the map...
@@ColtingtonsI'd say it's more plasma pea, he doesn't act liked other charges charge characters where he slows down and can't jump, and since his downgrade in looks from gw1 he looks like a regular peashooter dunked in blue paint.
1:12 I would argue that sigma is currently one of the best designed tanks in overwatch. He very rarely gets tuned these days because hes always a good pick but never meta dominant. His kit is very engaging to play and he feels powerful without being oppressive like mauga or doomfist.
Hes only been nerfed since overwatch 1 and is still at least an A tier pick in ranked. He's only not broken because the other tanks are even more broken.
throwable aoe debuff isnt unique or interesting. jarate is cancer and shouldve never been added, along with the razorback, bushwacka, and most other weapons in the game
3:42 Instead of wasting time on skins for Kiriko, they should actually give some to VENTURE. JUNO HAS BEEN IN THE GAME FOR 3 MONTHS AND ALREADY HAS A SKIN. I swear what was the point in them if you were just gonna neglect them.
@egel7736 I guess I should rephrase: it doesn't (or at least shouldn't) matter that much to the players. It does matter to Blizzard because that's where they get their revenue. But in terms of adding heroes to the game, skins and cosmetics are not the be all end all that makes heroes worth adding. Their personality, their moveset, and how they work alongside the other heroes in the game are what determines their worth as a hero.
Thatcher’s design is sick. It matches his trailer of his emp cutting out lights and being sneaky. Meanwhile, Lesion is wearing CARGO SHORTS in a war setting.
Sniper was actually a good pick for TF2. Every character in tf2 fights in close range because they have projectiles that are easy to dodge at long range, or hit-scan weapons ( shotguns, pistols, mini-guns ) that have large damage drop on range. This promotes good movement and positioning. Sniper is the only one who doesn't apply to this rule. A good sniper can 1-shot most classes mere seconds after seeing them, all the way from the backline. Sometimes it feels like pro sniper killed you just by glancing at you for a second, hence the obvious hate for the class.( I'm speaking as a medic main.... at least Spy has to get close to kill me and often dies for it after. )
Yeah I agree also as a Medic main. Especially when you play on something like Uncletopia, good Snipers stop you from playing the game. And Spy is in no way a good Sniper counter because he gets screwed over by literally everyone and as long as someone isn't constantly hardscoping they can turn around and kill the Spy.
100% right. TF2's emphasis on close range combat (damage ramp up, fall off, slow moving projectiles) is totally obliterated by Sniper, since most of the other combat classes can't even meaningfully fight back at long range; I don't even mind quickscopes. Scout and Heavy can only apply chip damage, Soldier has to spam him out and hope the Sniper can't scope in/misses in between rockets, Pyro is either 100% helpless or a decent counter depending on if you use a flare gun or not, and Demoman literally can't do anything. Ironically Medic with a crossbow is one of the best ways to fight Sniper directly if you aren't playing Sniper yourself. IMO rounding a corner and seeing a Sniper scoped in from outside of your range is the most imbalanced interaction in the game; almost every class is screwed and has to hope the Sniper misses. Sniper being the best at long range is fine, but with the insane range, bottomless clip, fast turnaround in between shots, and no way to tell if a Sniper has the angle covered until it's too late, most classes are doomed from the start and a Sniper having a good day can literally kill entire pushes in ten seconds or less. Personally, I wish, like, 1-2 of the proposed nerfs to Sniper (less damage before charging up so he can't instantly one shot, a hard reload, MVM Sniper laser sights, etc) would be implemented even though it would majorly change a class 17 years later.
@@sethweddle5160 Yeah I would prefer any of those. Yeah quickscopes are super skillful and those are sorta OK since only really good players deal with those, and you're still at close range where classes usually perform the best. But yeah long range is super frustrating.
I'd have to disagree with your siege takes here. I think you gave valid points but I think there are better and worse ops you could have chosen. I think Warden is probably the worst designed op because all of the Wardens I see forget they have an ability, they only picked him cause he had a 1.5 scope on his gun for some time. Or release Lion, I say this as a Lion player, he was not okay. And for best character, I'd say Capitao. He's cool, has a great gadget and weapons, and just has this unique vibe to him.
@@zage932I don’t understand that. Moz and warden both have very little assistance in combat. It more levels the playing field. You don’t have flashes? Neither do they. You don’t have drones? Now you do. Opposed to someone like kali. You have a big gun now go get ‘Em tiger
@@mofumofu9648no he can’t its a fundamental flaw that needs a rework, there shouldn’t be a tank that their main purpose is to shred the other tank which is also their only sustain it’s just dumb, kiri I agree with and for brig multi packing someone needs nerfs but that’s it imo she’s only usually strong with dive where she needs to protect or hold position now, unless u mean release brig then fair enough

@@begunfuball2122 i agree on the mauga take, but i mainly mean in a 6v6 scenario where his design fits a bit more, where he doesnt need to be a godtank. also for brig hell nah shes still broken af, she does too much for how easy she is to play, aoe healing, shuts down any dive attempts, the healthpack giving instahealth, being somewhat of a minitank, and her ult being extremely good(+ a stun). I personally believe her passive should heal only her, and when its on her healthpacks charge faster. this way she can still be a good dive shutdown/pocketer, and this way she wouldnt force goats in openqueue.

For R6S, Thatcher is a valid pick but at least his EMPs don't work against mechanical traps like Lesion mines, frost mats, and Goyo cannisters. Imo Blackbeard is the worst designed character for the fact that R6S is a game with one shot headshots yet here is a character whose special ability is that he can tank headshots. It doesn't matter if he can tank 10 or 1 headshot, the idea that you can get cheated out of a kill despite having good aim is just terrible. At least he is getting reworked next season which includes removing his rifle head shield for smth else.
I respect your picks, but Kiriko as the worst designed hero in Overwatch is wild to me, when she’s proven to be really easy to balance. Mauga and Widow are a much bigger issue for most avid Overwatch 2 players. Feels like you really just picked Kiriko because of other (valid) gripes with the game, rather than actual gameplay experience.
well thers visual design and game design, i think he does a bit of both to get the hole picture of a character but i was confused as well with what he is ranking
I don't think the Shimada dragons were ever meant to be hard light, I've never heard about this before. Overwatch has always had magical elements (especially with the whole Omnic lore). The problem is that magic seemingly only exists in Japan and the Himalayas
That R6 take was a hot one. Yeah he is the guy for getting rid of gadgets but other then just helping opening up walls he can also stop C4 from going off to help your team plant which is super useful and helpful. Its anti-enemy team. Worst design is obviously blackbeard. Man has a plastic shield for his face and they are barely reworking him with a shield and can blow open a wall. Thatcher is great though well designed with good guns not overpowered just gets the job done which is what you need with a team. Call them must picks for a reason lol
For valorant, brim is a controller. That role is meant to control the pace of the map, and he does that very well by blocking off areas with his ult, molly, and smokes. The stim beacon is kind of random though for his character, but it does help your team rotate faster + entry faster.
Really, Thatcher? R6 was meant to have a realistic military aesthetic and while that may not be your cup of tea it works for the game and community and should be judged accordingly. Iana & Scopos break away from the games asthetic which I would argue is worse and Scopos the only Greek character isn’t even human which sucks for Greek people. Jackals gadget is far more irritating especially since Thatchers grenade is also a secondary gadget. Kapkan is instant kill trap, Caveira is a mole. My pick would be Tachanka because he used to be a bad fun character and they reworked him into a bad boring character.
I agree, If you think Thacher is more annoying than CLASH, your smoking something diabolical! if you hate softballs that much, play jager or at least TRY to bandit trick me, don't place all your car batteries on a single wall like your in copper IV😂
@TheMacroShow if i can remember correctly, mercy has an interraction where she asks zen how he heals and he basically says magic......also we don't talk about Spotify healing

The R6 slander is completely bs they look the same because they are part of the same force, the SAS characters all have the gas masks-because in real like that's what they look like. Also Thatcer is mute on attack and is only banned in high ranks.
I have to disagree on r6 the idea behind smoke mute sledge and thatcher was that they are from the sas a special unit from Uk they dont look the same, they look realistcly Osa or Ace should have taken that spot 100%
Mauga is by far the worst character, he doesn’t have an interesting lore, and his personality is just other muscular arrogant “funny” tank, and his kit really don’t help him, and just the mention of sigma as a bad design got me fuming, Sigma is the best designed tank of Overwatch, he revolutionized the concept of tanks in games alike, and his story, mwah, chefs kiss
0:57 Nah Brigette wasn't what killed overwatch 1, it was literally the developers/company ceasing to make any sort of meaningful content, instead putting all their time and effort into e-sports which went nowhere. Alot of people blame Brig for the games fall but they fail to sight heros like Doomfist and Wreckingball who both came in around the same cluster of years and actively made the meta less enjoyable. No one likes being stunned in a fast paced hero shooter.
The Marvel Rivals picks were spot on. I'm a Sigma main on OW so I enjoy Magneto but his kit just doesn't suit him at all. I feel similarly about Scarlet Witch's primary fire.
Deadlock takes place in 1949 so Shiv would be an early adopter of the Rockabilly bad boy biker lifestyle. It's the monster hunter lore and him being a middle aged father that makes no sense.
Being a monster hunter in the deadlock universe would be no different than being in a hunting/freemason lodge. Magic is considered a natural force in the world like physics so being a monster hunter would be normal in that world.
For all the problems heroes like Kiriko and Mauga have had, SOMBRA. There has not been a version of Sombra that is healthy for the game. The 6 second silence version? The unpublishable infinite stealth/Translocator version? The feast or famine Virus/passive stealth version? The recent 5s stealth version that is both feast or famine with Virus, AND clunky with stealth? She is just a mistake of a character, combining elements in a way that just isn’t fun to interact with, in stealth, teleportation, burst damage, and ability silence.
I feel like a lot of problematic Overwatch heroes are like this though. Cool lore, cool design but edgy, contradictory, and problematic gameplay. Roadhog Bastion Pharah Mercy Etc. All the heroes are designed in such a way to specifically screw over (counter) 1 or more character archetypes. That's just how it is. So I don't think Sombra will ever really be okay. She's designed to piss you off the best.
What if they made it like the inversewatch and made Sombra a support? Having a sneaky support is much less frustating than a sneaky dps that can one shot you.
@@TheMacroShow I mean for balanced Invis Look at TF2. Spys invis runs off a timer that can be refreshed by picking up ammo crates meaning an observant player can still track him to some degree but OW don't have ammo crates so it cant work really
The worst designed character in Overwatch is by far and away Widowmaker. One of the easiest characters, she can be 10/10 and still get more value than a tank
Okay im sorry, BUT i'll have to rant about your choice on valorant. Soooo you picked a basic character, NOT a bad one imo, brim is the basic military guy, that just has basic ass abilities. First of all I believe Beginners need a Character like this, Second point is there are soooo many better takes like Iso (A Duelist with a annoying shield, thats frustrating to play against and no utility so hes frustraiting to play with and his shield isnt even good since literally everything makes it pop and its huge af), Chamber?? (He was the most broken agent and is objectivly a bad sentinel for the job as a sentinel while having his unbalacenable tp, hes also just rich, which isnt better than basic military) and for Neon are also a lot of good points to make Sorry for the poor english and ranting here. Love yall
it's just my opinion but I explain why I like each of these characters: Iso: his ultimate in my opinion is hype as hell Chamber: nah he's saucy af, love having a character that's entire kit is being rich and thus having his own weapons that he brings, it works for me Neon: having one character with schmovement in this game and finger guns while looking like Pikachu is awesome I'm not even saying Brim is BAD, compared to the others he just isn't that interesting. You can have beginner friendly characters that aren't boring design-wise -> REAPER in OW, INFERNUS in DEADLOCK, etc, etc.
@@TheMacroShow Well i get him being a boring design, but gameplaywise I feel like Iso and Chamber are the worst by 500 miles and their design isn't really good, so yea im okay with brim being boring if he that means i wont have to slam my table irl xD
@@TheMacroShow To me the obvious choice is Harbor. I don't mind his visual design, but in terms of abilities he basically has 3 different abilities that all fulfill the role of smokes, and yet he still can't be the solo controller, because he has no way to support his team from a distance. He has also pretty much never been relevant in any of the metas.
Hot take on overwatch: Mercy is the worst designed character in the game. Her damage amplifier ruins so many balancing numbers it becomes a nightmare for the devs and her rez has always been overpowered
Poket healer with free synergy and value with zero mechanical and positional demand, keeps a bunch of DPS hostage because of damage boost breakpoints, what not to love? Best feeling is when she skillfully press E and rez a 700 + hp tank through a wall.
I'm sure there's already a bunch of comments saying this but Shiv, Warden, and Yamato are apparently all going to get some sort of visual rework, probably some others too not that I'm saying the opinion is invalid, I kinda agree for the most part, just that it will be different in the future
Yes! Exactly! Kiriko’s design is bland af. I was just noticing that recently. And the age thing could have easily been solved by making her older, but I guess Blizzard didn’t wanna risk her being less fappable by making her older. 🙄
Sniper as TF2's worst designed character makes a lotta sense. Not just because he doesn't bring much 'new' to the table, but also because he just doesn't FIT in the game. Let's just say there's a reason people call him "better spy". He can one-shot consistently, and is the only true long range character. Compare that to spy and his super in-depth kit who can also one shot, but his role is way harder to learn and a lot more riskier. It's a power inbalance that genuinely cannot be fixed because of his core design... (he's still fun to play though)
I simply can’t with the kiriko slander. The lore with hanzo and genji is I agree with you, but correct me if I am wrong but hanzo and genji dragons aren’t hard light. They are magic and even if they aren’t, zenyatta exists. Secondly, at least Kiriko is difficult to play(at least on the upper end of supports when it comes to difficulty) limiting her power. Mauga was literally stupid easy. Anybody could easily rise multiple ranks by playing that broken character. Another good candidate for bad character design is lifeweaver who they’ve had to buff every patch and he still isn’t good.
I disagree with Kiriko taking skill. Her kunais are rng, a get out of jail free card, a cleanse AOE, and a small hit box. Combined that with a heal bot and an aoe ult, I find her skill curve very small. Obviously it’s easy to compare to other supports. But heroes like Brig, Bap, Zen, and Ana’s rifle takes way more effort to get similar results than a Kiriko.
@ I like to see get out of jail free cards in terms of how much risk you need to take. Zen and Ana can stay far away from the enemy to get value. Bap literally has two get out of jail free cards. So while yes she has a get out out jail free card, she needs it so that she can get close so that her Kunais aren’t rng. Kiriko has 225 health, it is very risky and difficult to get value. Bap meanwhile has hit scan with practically no recoil, plus lamp. If you want to talk about release kiriko then she was undoubtedly busted but now she is consistently just barely good. I mean since release, they nerfed her ult, nerfed invulnerability on her suzu, nerfed the two tap on kunais, and nerfed her health. So in terms of skill to reward, kiriko is in a very healthy state.
Kiriko does not take skill lol. Having slightly lesser health doesn’t really matter when you have 2 abilities that cleanse and make you invincible. One of them is aoe and heals, and the other teleports you through walls. You can do a stupid flank on a zen, and you don’t get punished if you screw up unlike most characters, you just teleport away. Suzu counters almost everything while having no counters itself and she’s good in every comp. She has burst damage and ranged homing heals so she doesn’t need to aim much.
@ but that’s the point, you don’t need to flank with zen. Zen has fantastic ranged pressure and a no aim debuff. Despite everyone saying kiriko takes no skill or little skill, she consistently has a low win rate, which is why the devs keeps buffing her despite community sentiment. This is because She can’t sit in the backline and provide as much value as an Ana zen or Bap. You need to make plays with kiriko and understanding when to make those plays takes skill. She has good healing but not the best, she has great damage but it is inconsistent, she has suzu but it only gives invulnerability for like .6 seconds. In my opinion, the only character that takes more skill than kiriko in the support role is probably Ana. At the very least, people need to stop saying that Bap takes skill. Bap is not skillful.
@ I didn’t say zen needed skill he’s a pretty straight forward character. Her damage is only inconsistent if you’re far away and aren’t good with projectiles, especially with the hit box and damage buff. Also saying she takes more skill than Lucio is wild, who actually has to have good movement, aim, no free escape compared to kiriko who just needs half decent aim and a ally within 40m. Her Suzu is pretty much common sense and doesn’t take much thought. She has great damage, great utility, great movement, one of the best ultimates and is never below a tier. Bap is easier to aim sure, and honestly isn’t that hard. But he at least requires good cd management with 15s+ CDs, managing and aiming 2 different kinds of ammo, balancing between healing and damaging, and good window positioning
Ngl picking sniper was the only correct option for TF2. Its a almost joke at this point in the tf2 community , when someone asks "If you had to pick one class to be removed from tf2 which would it be" even sniper mains themselves will say its Sniper
Typical engineer type character but they added an actual engineer skin based of tf2 as a reference. Torb is pretty much the least original character ever created so you cant really say hes like torb/engi. More like engi/engi
Siege was supposed to be a somewhat accurate special forces “simulation” with simple conceivable operators like ash with a specially designed grenade launcher for breaking walls. Then they decided “fuck all that I wanna make superhero’s” and added characters like iana, demos, dokabi. It was intended to be a serious game, you can see this in all their marketing in their first few years. Dokebi? She’s a kid with an iPad and chibi charms all over the place? She has to be one of the least fitting operators in the roster. WITH AN EVEN HIGHER BAN RATE THAN THATCHER. A CHARACTER WHO IS ENTIRELY CENTRED AROUND THE FACT YOU DONT NEED CRAZY ROBOTS AND TECH, THAT A 6 INCH BLADE WILL ALWAYS DO THE JOB. disappointing macro, do better
TF2 fan here and I have to hard agree with you with Sniper since he is just really annoying to deal with (especially with the bot scourge). I would also say Scout because of his hitbox but they fixed it and Scout has a lot of crazy mechanics that allow him to be very versatile. And that's what I like about TF2 in general; their silhouettes alone tell a lot what that character is.
I get where you are coming from with R6 but I think it is cool that everybody in the SAS has a gasmask. You could easily see to what team they belonged in the lore from the beginning days of siege.
I theorize Shiv is supposed to be a sort of vampire/vampire inspired , explaining why his kit is focused on blood and why he uses the rails like that. Lorewise, Shiv is part of an organization that hunts monsters that prey on humans, and he is paranoid that they will turn on him.
@ He hangs upside down, he has a freaky red medallion that glows when he has full rage, great resiliance (common vampire trait in media), and a theme in his kit is blood
shivs a vampire, which explains the bloodlust and blood abilities, as well as why he hangs upside down like a bat, the shopkeeper often says stuff to him about having long nights and so on. also hes named after a blade, is a vampire that hunts monsters and other vampires like Blade from marvel, and in the shadow cast by slice n dice you can see its wearing shades similar to blades. other than his goofy hair, i think shiv might be one of the best designed characters in shooters lately.
For siege, never played it, was quite involved in lore part, and for me, from the very start it was a little bit more advanced technology, but keep it realistic. It still was shields, flashes, intel gathering, breaching equipment. Stuff actual Special forces irl use. There were some crazier ideas, like Iana's Far from home style hologram drones, or oryx'es wall breaking pecs, but then Sens came, with his gadged looking like he copied valorant viper's homework, but changed things, so the teacher wont notice. Special shoutouts to solis that missed an alley on her way to militech and finka that's just... nanobots. Like seriously, nanobots? It's one of writing's worst sins, if you can't explain something and magic is out of picture, *nanomachines, son*
I agree that Brimstone is basic, he is very basic. I have no problem with him having 2 abilities not related to satellite, because there is no way to make it work in gameplay and right now Brim is completely fine in the meta. For honorable mention I'd put Harbor, because lore-wise he has little going on, we only know that his bracelet only works for him for some reason. The problem is his kit, which is just 3 covers + ult. But he's going to have changes, maybe even rework, from what Riot told us. In opinion the worst character is Reyna. From lore she's very important, she has very strong personality - that's all great. The problem is her kit - if you don't kill, you have nothing. You have 2 flashes, which you gonna probably use early in round and then you just hope you get a kill, so you can move or heal. People only play her for healing, but maybe people will stop, since today Riot announced new shields, which will work similarly to healing to armor.
I think iso and Reyna are the worst for sure. Iso can block one shot from anything with no bleed through damage and Reyna’s blind is too easy to use and she is very selfish with her self heal and repositioning tool. They both just promote bad positioning. And I think permanent self heal is too good, clove has the ideal self heal where you are made to actually act quickly after activating the heal
8:40 Okay, but hear me out, a greaser who's weapons are straight razors as the assassin character in a Steampunk game sounds really cool. Issues likely come from randomly having a shotgun and having character select art that closer resembles Shel Silverstein on the cover of _Crouching on the Outside_ rather than an actual greaser is probably why it feels discordant.
Sniper is kind of the worse designed (besides maybe pyro before his update or heavy, but idk about that) because not only is he the reason for the bot crisis, not only is his bow and arrow broken and not only does he have all the crutch weapons, but in a fast paced class shooter with lots of movement and projectiles, a hitscan precise sniper with little movement mechanics doesn’t fit that well
tf2 isnt fast paced at all, it just seems fast paced because theres a lot of stuff happening in high traffic areas. but at the end of the day, the game is just a constant tug and pull and a contest of whoever can break through a choke the hardest snipers been in team fortress since qtf, hes been here before pyro, spy, engineer and heavy
OH HELL NO HE DID NOT JUST DISSED MY BOY BRIMSTONE You want the real worst desinged agent from Valorant? Clove, literally dont get punish if you play badly. You still can use the smoke even after dead. Plus the smoke is regenative
what you said is true, but don't forget that simply PICKING clove over another smoke punishes your team in certain ways, because they has much less team utility. Their smokes, their only team ability (meddle doesn't count lets be honest), are weaker than other agents' like omen or brim, which is why they compensate by allowing them to place them even after they die. They fit a very specific role in the meta, when you need smokes while also having some duelist capabilities in the same agent. All this being said, Brim's kit is in no way the worst in the game, heck it's pretty balanced infact. I guess I could kinda agree on his character design? but that's about it
It's funny he was so scared of TF2 fans being mad when most TF2 fans agree that sniper being able to one shot you across the map is broken and needs a rework
Now should I do this series for Platform Fighting Games? 👀
No
Your take on Brimstone is an L. He is cool

“Anything Spy can do Sniper does better, Sniper is everything better than Spy”
-Funke
I agree, Spy is more unice and interesting to Play but much worse as well
Seers hat makes sense, his whole thing is sticking out not hiding
Exactly, he's trying to show himself off, to prove that the outcasts have a place in the world, not to fade into the background but to stand out, the sneaking stuff is just him being goofy.

In her lore, it's said that she acts like a nerd to look like someone that "behaves". In reality, her glasses does nothing and she is kind of a reckless girl that got into a lot of fight if I remember correctly.

That being said, I agree the original 20 ops were very samey looking but i also think it fit the game from a lore perspective and you more so notice the overall silhoutte of a character and their gadgets (sledge has a big hammer on his back, mute has his presence known in drone phase) before the actual character themselves in siege and thats why I think it works in favor for thatcher and everyone in SAS's design.
agreed
Also the gas mask design is what the real SAS are most know for so it was IMO a great decision to make all 4 of them wear a mask
Personally I think Mauga is the worst designed character in OW2 literally sucks to play against and to play
Mauga would have been easy to deal with if Kiriko didnt exist
Acting as if ana doesn’t exist
It's widow. Almost everyone else can be shot when they shoot you.
love playing as mauga, compliments the "rush in, no brain" mentality I enjoy
You know exactly what you're dealing with the moment TF2 appears in the video.

Iirc Lion was the only operator who had a 100% win rate in pro league, and the only one who got banned until nerfs. So yea, Lion should've been there
this guy know his stuff
Totally agree, as a part time Thatcher main I think that there are definitely characters more unbalanced and boring than Thatcher
Sniper is bad, but he mainly gets countered by Spy.

Rework changed it also don't Yuh think lesions worse lmao he's wearing shorts and a helmet .
15:08 The guy from the SAS looks like he's from the SAS. Wild concept!
It's still a boring design
For valorant, brim is a controller. That role is meant to control the pace of the map, and he does that very well by blocking off areas with his ult, molly, and smokes. The stim beacon is kind of random though for his character, but it does help your team rotate faster + entry faster.
Every Hero Shooter? bro forgot about PvZ Garden Warfare
Very valid points.
I too am sad about Tachanka's rework.

He's a sentient robot, I can be convinced that his abilities can be explained by tech.
Now Lucio healing with Music on the other hand...
@TheMacroShow if i can remember correctly, mercy has an interraction where she asks zen how he heals and he basically says magic......also we don't talk about Spotify healing

Macro somehow made Kiriko look worse than Mauga.
as he should
@shamelessboi0627 Nah, to me Kiriko's more annoying than anything. Mauga on the other hand runs with the game every time he's decent.
@@Tiosedan wait so are u saying Mauga is worse than Kiri oh nah?
@@shamelessboi0627 Yeah he is!! Partly because a bad tank is a lot more aparent, but also because his design is way worse.
@@Tiosedan ok now I get it
The R6 slander is completely bs they look the same because they are part of the same force, the SAS characters all have the gas masks-because in real like that's what they look like. Also Thatcer is mute on attack and is only banned in high ranks.
10:19 ye
*extremely subdle background sound* JIRAT-
I have to disagree on r6 the idea behind smoke mute sledge and thatcher was that they are from the sas a special unit from Uk they dont look the same, they look realistcly Osa or Ace should have taken that spot 100%
Not just cleanse, it had immortality as well. Busted ability.
Her tp has immortality and with ult on she is nearly unkillable with a good secondary support.
14:20 I think the fact that Clash was disabled half the time for the year I played siege, speaks for itself.
Mauga makes Kiriko look like a healthy and well-done character, I was hoping to see him.
No one likes being stunned in a fast paced hero shooter.
avoid the stun :)
She is just a mistake of a character, combining elements in a way that just isn’t fun to interact with, in stealth, teleportation, burst damage, and ability silence.
agreed, invisibility as an ability is impossible to balance without it being OP af or useless
however she's saved by being so cool in the lore imo
I feel like a lot of problematic Overwatch heroes are like this though. Cool lore, cool design but edgy, contradictory, and problematic gameplay.
Roadhog
Bastion
Pharah
Mercy
Etc.
At least with the OW1 Sombra you could destroy the translocator, or spawn camp it, put a trap, etc
Ahaha, I liked the switch from "don't take this personally" to "you are basic" in under 2 minutes x)
1:37 bro orisa is literally the fun police
Invalidated because the worst designed hero is mauga. and its not even close.
The fact that you put Dokkaebi as the best design and thatcher as the worst design is really funny because in R6 lore, they hate each other 😂
The worst designed character in Overwatch is by far and away Widowmaker.
(He was the most broken agent and is objectivly a bad sentinel for the job as a sentinel while having his unbalacenable tp, hes also just rich, which isnt better than basic military) and for Neon are also a lot of good points to make
Sorry for the poor english and ranting here. Love yall
it's just my opinion but I explain why I like each of these characters:
Iso: his ultimate in my opinion is hype as hell
Chamber: nah he's saucy af, love having a character that's entire kit is being rich and thus having his own weapons that he brings, it works for me
Neon: having one character with schmovement in this game and finger guns while looking like Pikachu is awesome
I'm not even saying Brim is BAD, compared to the others he just isn't that interesting.
@@TheMacroShow you shouldn't put Brim in a worst character video just because he is boring

Threequel to this video: most MID designed characters in every hero shooter
Hot take on overwatch: Mercy is the worst designed character in the game. Her damage amplifier ruins so many balancing numbers it becomes a nightmare for the devs and her rez has always been overpowered
Mercy is probably the worst oversight in balancing history. Same thing with Ana too. Damage amps completely gutted dragon blade and death blossom.
Poket healer with free synergy and value with zero mechanical and positional demand, keeps a bunch of DPS hostage because of damage boost breakpoints, what not to love?
Best feeling is when she skillfully press E and rez a 700 + hp tank through a wall.
12:10 "Balik is just Torbjörn"
Balik-has a TF2 skin voiced by Grant Goodeve, the voice actor of the engineer.
I can’t believe you ignored the greatest Hero Shooter, Garden Warfare. The answer is Chomper. Worst design ever.
When the thumbnail already answers the question on the games you play for you
2:25 she's way younger than Genji or Hanzo because young asian girls sell their game better than old women.
I'm sure there's already a bunch of comments saying this but Shiv, Warden, and Yamato are apparently all going to get some sort of visual rework, probably some others too
not that I'm saying the opinion is invalid, I kinda agree for the most part, just that it will be different in the future
Ain’t no way genji and hanzo use hard light, that’s a Vishkar thing. They use magic, Japanese people in this game have magic cause there Japanese
Yes! Exactly! Kiriko’s design is bland af. I was just noticing that recently. And the age thing could have easily been solved by making her older, but I guess Blizzard didn’t wanna risk her being less fappable by making her older. 🙄
Sigma is great. Mauga is the worst
12:11 what kinda Torb/engi collaboration am i seeing?
Typical engineer type character but they added an actual engineer skin based of tf2 as a reference. Torb is pretty much the least original character ever created so you cant really say hes like torb/engi. More like engi/engi
I can see the mob with torches and forks going to Macro's home.
Brim looks like a TF2 charicer.
Huge TF2 fan...and yeah, you're right about Sniper. You get to live...for today.
Macro, we really need a Strinova For Noobs video. If not, I’m prepared to commit crimes.

1:19 ME, I don’t like them
SAME I FRICKING HATE SIGMA
TF2 fan here and I have to hard agree with you with Sniper since he is just really annoying to deal with (especially with the bot scourge). I would also say Scout because of his hitbox but they fixed it and Scout has a lot of crazy mechanics that allow him to be very versatile. And that's what I like about TF2 in general; their silhouettes alone tell a lot what that character is.
Bro hasnt played siege in years and it shows 14:59
Trueee
I get where you are coming from with R6 but I think it is cool that everybody in the SAS has a gasmask.
You could easily see to what team they belonged in the lore from the beginning days of siege.
I theorize Shiv is supposed to be a sort of vampire/vampire inspired , explaining why his kit is focused on blood and why he uses the rails like that. Lorewise, Shiv is part of an organization that hunts monsters that prey on humans, and he is paranoid that they will turn on him.
I didn't really get that, what reference does he have to being a vampire?
@ He hangs upside down, he has a freaky red medallion that glows when he has full rage, great resiliance (common vampire trait in media), and a theme in his kit is blood
Just blade
shivs a vampire, which explains the bloodlust and blood abilities, as well as why he hangs upside down like a bat, the shopkeeper often says stuff to him about having long nights and so on.
also hes named after a blade, is a vampire that hunts monsters and other vampires like Blade from marvel, and in the shadow cast by slice n dice you can see its wearing shades similar to blades. other than his goofy hair, i think shiv might be one of the best designed characters in shooters lately.
I love seer's hat tho
Btw: omg olympics lady mentioned!!
People only play her for healing, but maybe people will stop, since today Riot announced new shields, which will work similarly to healing to armor.
iso defo worst designed character in my book
Kiriko is overwatch 2’s problems wrapped in one annoying package. Great call out and breakdown
"overwatch is well designed" prolly the hottest take in this video
I think Apex has really great Charakters but Sear is just Bad. He looks like Lil Nas X with a Hat
Macro will you find a new Carter Ace song for next year?
Kiriko is a horrible take. Mauga, Sombra, and Widowmaker are all so much worse
Sniper is kind of the worse designed (besides maybe pyro before his update or heavy, but idk about that) because not only is he the reason for the bot crisis, not only is his bow and arrow broken and not only does he have all the crutch weapons, but in a fast paced class shooter with lots of movement and projectiles, a hitscan precise sniper with little movement mechanics doesn’t fit that well
tf2 isnt fast paced at all, it just seems fast paced because theres a lot of stuff happening in high traffic areas. but at the end of the day, the game is just a constant tug and pull and a contest of whoever can break through a choke the hardest
snipers been in team fortress since qtf, hes been here before pyro, spy, engineer and heavy
OH HELL NO HE DID NOT JUST DISSED MY BOY BRIMSTONE
You want the real worst desinged agent from Valorant?
