I played that game so much growing up! Idk why he trashes the power level system - it was a good way to make it more skill based than the "spam knockout moves" that plague smash, and created unique playstyles where, if you mastered a specific level of power for a specific character, you could really make them shine. It wasn't "overcomplicated" like he says, I was in elementary school and I understood it just fine. Such a good game- I still go back and watch the opening cutscene sometimes for nostalgia.

@Mirage475 Did you ever play the game? Getting a super doesn't garuntee a win. Theres opponents who also have supers, so clearly thats not how it worked. There were move combos to learn to build up charge, you could block and dodge, and item pickups could be used to drain charge from opponents or give a leg up. The power level in particular was really unique- people who actually played and learned their characters know that it wasn't always most efficient to go for level three- some characters did better just using a level 1 or 2 multiple times, depending on the mode, map, and character. Raiden for example had a really solid Llv 1 that in team mode could be more efficient using it 3 times than getting to lvl 3 once, if you had the skill to land it. Hope this helps you understand how the game works a bit more - macro doesn't cover the game mechanics in depth though so I understand your confusion from just watching the video alone.

I'd love to see Delsin or Fetch in a game like that. You did include Cole and he's arguably more iconic but in my opinion, Second Son/First Light are both great games with amazing potential for both of their move sets and also, they kind of shaped the early PS4 era before the big hitters like Spider-Man, DBH and Ghost of Tsushima came out.

MY CHARACTER SUGGESTIONS: i feel atreus should’ve been here, he’s really cemented himself as a greatly written character, and his moveset would probably be all ranged imo. he’s popular, and i think it’d be nice to fill the roster a bit more. it could also be a banana guard situation where he could be a character acquired through login. knack is also a must have. his game want perfect or anything, but he had a fun game, and that’s important. he has a huge following and he’s one of the best mascots sony tried to make. i feel the inclusion of issac clark would also be fun. dead space isn’t an original, but him being a dlc character would be nice too see, his kit could revolve around interacting with parts of the stage and upgrading his gun with those peicess, slowly getting better throughout the match. MORE SUGGESTIONS i think to stand out among competitors, they should add some sort of new feature, ( like multiversus parry) they should have a block, and a dodge to add more. a very slight maybe, but a slide mechanic could be interesting, maybe as R3 or L3? but that’s a stretch. but i do feel they need something like that to be better, and i trust sony to do that. for game modes they should stick pretty simple, a online mode, (1v1, 3v3, a sports mode like Nick All Stars?) an arcade ladder for character skins and rewards and a story mode. later on more modes could be added, but i don’t think it’s needed. customization could be pretty simple, unlock finishers (supers) to choose from, skins, and profile customization shown in ranked play. the art style should change with each character. picking the same style for all characters won’t end well for sony, cause they have a lot of realistic characters. they could possibly do a comic book type look, maybe like rollerdome. ( if you haven’t played it, id recommend) and of course, the game needs balancing. we don’t need another game with unfair characters ruining both casual, and competitive play. we don’t need another johnny cage. sorry for the yap. been thinking about a game like this for years 💀

They will often retire a character when their va passes away out of respect if it’s possible. Thats probably why they didn’t include him in the base roster of 8 to begin with. Harada would rather recast than make Heihachi mains learn a new character.

I truly think that an original Skylanders character could work for this game concept, maybe be Trigger Happy, Tree Rex, or a Wash Buckler/Blast Zone (from swap force) combo character could work.
In development skylanders was going to be a spyro game but they changed it but they should have some of the skylanders be in it because they were apart of Sony's/actrovisions history
Honestly, for Spyro, he would use different elemental attacks such as eletricity, ice and flame of course, but also he could summon any of his adventure mates like Sheyla or Byrd for special attacks for a little while. And for his stage i would say Firework Factory could be the best one, even with firewors or cannonballs as hazards because also the music there fits really well for a fighting game

It can be Heihachi since they brought him back in T8, but I think Kazuya might fit the role better Yakuza has also been a PS exclusive series until recently, so I'm down with Kiryu pummeling down Sackboy Ok I ran out of ideas but you can still put certified PS bangers like Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia, Okami, Tearaway etc. in there. Replace Spider-Man with a Helldiver, because Disney would never allow that. Yes, Sony owns Spider-Man, but he's still Marvel property, which Marvel is owned by Disney. It's complicated, I know However, I will say that you also could add some more to the roster too, as there's a lot more characters to have represented in this game. Spike absolutely should be in the game, and the Slayer of Demons too. Woody Woodpecker - A speedy rushdown that is extremely floaty with a moveset revolving about getting in your face 2. Blue (From Jurassic World) - Would play like a feral Yoshi and Pirahna Plant, straight up mauling the opponents 3. Fievel (An American Tail) - A character like Villager and use different moves from the movies but is weak upclose 4. Marty Mcfly (Back To The Future - Would kinda play like Fievel, and use different stuff from the movies 5. Gru (Despicable Me) - A zoner that uses his different gadgets both from the main films and the Minions movies 6. The Minions (Despicable Me) - Would act like the Miis ad would use different things THEY specifically use 7. Vector (Despicable Me) - Another zoner that would use his gadgets and maybe dancing for his moveset 8. The Onceler (Lorax) - Essentially Link with Chrom's sword, Joker's Up B, Peach's Down B, and some ranged music attacks 9. The Grinch - Basically Snake, setting up traps around the stage, But they only difference is that they're less violent and Christmas themed. 10. I can't abide taking out Spike or Sir Daniel, then adding Spiderman and Sam Porter Bridges. Like sure Sony has Spiderman, but I feel very similarly about the idea of Spiderman in a non marvel game as I do putting Goku in smash it just doesn't fit well in my heart and mind. Meanwhile Sam is not from a particularly well loved game. It sold well but that had way more to do with Kojima producing it and people not knowing what the game was actually like the actual reception was pretty bad. Meanwhile I can't with good faith say I'm cool with taking any spotlight away from classics like Medievil and Ape Escape. I want to see more of those classic characters being recognized and appreciated for what they did for the Sony brand. To some extent, I feel the same way about the killzone guy, but Spike and Sir Dan specifically are proper classics and deserve the love.
May do it with astro bot models and only add the moves it easy to do and less cost. Also all will have the same artistic style and can use the impulse of astro bot exceptional sells and popularity

I think a more underrated one would be one of the FNAF characters from the Steel Wool Studios games as SB was a PS exclusive for a bit, and FNAF is a huge franchise that is still going strong to this day

No Spike or Dante is WILD, I don’t agree with that. Bro Astro Bot literally has a dedicated level to Ape Escape, people love that franchise. Dante was based on the reboot in PS All Stars. Everyone wanted the classic Dante, which is why he gets a bad rap in this game. Devil May Cry was a big game franchise in the PS1 era and deserves the representation Also I feel like Spidey shouldn’t be here, as amazing as his games are, he doesn’t originate from a video game like everyone else. He’d feel really out of place imo. I would replace Spidey, as well as Ellie, with Spike and Dante. I love the roster but you're missing one PlayStation game that's going to turn 20 next year... "Shadow of The Colossus" . You could replace Spyro with Wander, his long range would be his bow and his close range would obviously be the ancient sword. His moveset would be standard from his game, including rolling around, using Agro for making space, his explosive bow from the PS4/PS5 remake, ect. For his recovery he'd eat a lizard, his stage would be one of the Colossi arenas or inside of the castle. He could stab the ground, rising up a shadowy figure and sending them to fight for a moment before leaving, which could be prevented by a character hitting the figure. That's all, sorry for the wall

You did include Cole and he's arguably more iconic but in my opinion, Second Son/First Light are both great games with amazing potential for both of their move sets and also, they kind of shaped the early PS4 era before the big hitters like Spider-Man, DBH and Ghost of Tsushima came out.

MY CHARACTER SUGGESTIONS:
i feel atreus should’ve been here, he’s really cemented himself as a greatly written character, and his moveset would probably be all ranged imo. he’s popular, and i think it’d be nice to fill the roster a bit more. it could also be a banana guard situation where he could be a character acquired through login.
knack is also a must have. his game want perfect or anything, but he had a fun game, and that’s important. he has a huge following and he’s one of the best mascots sony tried to make.
i feel the inclusion of issac clark would also be fun. dead space isn’t an original, but him being a dlc character would be nice too see, his kit could revolve around interacting with parts of the stage and upgrading his gun with those peicess, slowly getting better throughout the match.

i think to stand out among competitors, they should add some sort of new feature, ( like multiversus parry) they should have a block, and a dodge to add more. a very slight maybe, but a slide mechanic could be interesting, maybe as R3 or L3? but that’s a stretch. but i do feel they need something like that to be better, and i trust sony to do that.
for game modes they should stick pretty simple, a online mode, (1v1, 3v3, a sports mode like Nick All Stars?) an arcade ladder for character skins and rewards and a story mode. later on more modes could be added, but i don’t think it’s needed.
customization could be pretty simple, unlock finishers (supers) to choose from, skins, and profile customization shown in ranked play.
the art style should change with each character. picking the same style for all characters won’t end well for sony, cause they have a lot of realistic characters. they could possibly do a comic book type look, maybe like rollerdome. ( if you haven’t played it, id recommend)
and of course, the game needs balancing. we don’t need another game with unfair characters ruining both casual, and competitive play. we don’t need another johnny cage.

They will often retire a character when their va passes away out of respect if it’s possible. Thats probably why they didn’t include him in the base roster of 8 to begin with. Harada would rather recast than make Heihachi mains learn a new character.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale on the PS Vita was an elite way to spend half an hour on the bus to school and the evenings in that one friend's house who doesn't have a second PS3 controller.
I truly think that an original Skylanders character could work for this game concept, maybe be Trigger Happy, Tree Rex, or a Wash Buckler/Blast Zone (from swap force) combo character could work.

Honestly, for Spyro, he would use different elemental attacks such as eletricity, ice and flame of course, but also he could summon any of his adventure mates like Sheyla or Byrd for special attacks for a little while. And for his stage i would say Firework Factory could be the best one, even with firewors or cannonballs as hazards because also the music there fits really well for a fighting game

- A speedy rushdown that is extremely floaty with a moveset revolving about getting in your face
2. Blue (From Jurassic World)
- Would play like a feral Yoshi and Pirahna Plant, straight up mauling the opponents
3. Fievel (An American Tail)
- A character like Villager and use different moves from the movies but is weak upclose
4. Marty Mcfly (Back To The Future
- Would kinda play like Fievel, and use different stuff from the movies
5. Gru (Despicable Me)
- A zoner that uses his different gadgets both from the main films and the Minions movies
6. The Minions (Despicable Me)
- Would act like the Miis ad would use different things THEY specifically use
7. Vector (Despicable Me)
- Another zoner that would use his gadgets and maybe dancing for his moveset
8. The Onceler (Lorax)
- Essentially Link with Chrom's sword, Joker's Up B, Peach's Down B, and some ranged music attacks
9. The Grinch
- Basically Snake, setting up traps around the stage, But they only difference is that they're less violent and Christmas themed.
10. Buster Moon (Sing)
- He would't really be doing the fighting, Because he would use the other Sing character for his moveset

- He would also use different things from the movies for his moveset along with using his car

- I imagine he would play sort of like Joker and Simon Belmont, using different monsters and his own flare to fight

- He would play similarly to Ike, Being a heavy-weight swordfighter with striking attacks

- I never watched the movie, But he can have his moves from the game along with skateboard and guitar attacks

- You might think he'd play like he does in Smash, But, he'd use the power-ups and his go-kart for his moveset

- A fast and nimple swordfighter with fast attacks at the cost of being easy to KO
22. Po (Kung Fu Panda, 3rd Party)
- A heavy but quick brawler that would use standard moves for his Normals and things like Chi for his specials
23. Toothless (How To Train Your Dragon, 3rd Party)
- Sorta acts like a mix of Yoshi and Ridley that would have Yoshi's movement and Ridley's strength

- A zoner who's both great upclose and far away, which comes at the cost of being difficult to master

- A character who kinda acts similar to Joker, with extremely fast and agile, but is pretty good at range and upclose.

I can't abide taking out Spike or Sir Daniel, then adding Spiderman and Sam Porter Bridges. Like sure Sony has Spiderman, but I feel very similarly about the idea of Spiderman in a non marvel game as I do putting Goku in smash it just doesn't fit well in my heart and mind. Meanwhile Sam is not from a particularly well loved game. It sold well but that had way more to do with Kojima producing it and people not knowing what the game was actually like the actual reception was pretty bad. Meanwhile I can't with good faith say I'm cool with taking any spotlight away from classics like Medievil and Ape Escape. I want to see more of those classic characters being recognized and appreciated for what they did for the Sony brand. To some extent, I feel the same way about the killzone guy, but Spike and Sir Dan specifically are proper classics and deserve the love.

You could replace Spyro with Wander, his long range would be his bow and his close range would obviously be the ancient sword. His moveset would be standard from his game, including rolling around, using Agro for making space, his explosive bow from the PS4/PS5 remake, ect. For his recovery he'd eat a lizard, his stage would be one of the Colossi arenas or inside of the castle. He could stab the ground, rising up a shadowy figure and sending them to fight for a moment before leaving, which could be prevented by a character hitting the figure.

Great vid Macro, you should DEFINETELY make one for Xbox/Microsoft. Another you should consider is Indie All-Stars, with characters like Shovel Knight, Madeline from Celeste, Cuphead, etc.
