The dude who launched the Mustang really botched it. 0-60 was 5.3 seconds? Good grief where do they find these guys.

It's a manual, the RHD version has less power, and no RWD car will launch as well as an AWD car. I don't see where the issue is.

Sure, if you launch it.. which you shouldn't be doing on the street. 5-60mph figures are more indicative of what you can expect when driving hard like a normal person. FoRS: 5.7s Mustang: 4.8s

A magazine 0-60 starts with a high RPM clutch drop or a long clutch feathering, the kind of maneuver that will quickly burn up the clutch's friction material. A 5-60 starts with the clutch fully engaged at low RPM, the kind of launch an owner of a car does. On the street, at a traffic light, you're going to be waiting for the turbo to spool while the 5.0 Mustang is already gone. I used to get beat off the line all the time by V6 minivans when I had my STI. Never buy an AWD car for its 0-60: you'll be disappointed in the real world.

I'm actually surprised the RS did this well on a drag against a car with 100 more hp. That RS is incredible. I would love to see the RS at a stage 3 upgrade. On a circuit track that GT would not have a chance.
stage 3 and a turbo upgrade, nobody would get near the RS. would eat the mussy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. then spit it's remainings out the tail pipe 😂

That was a really close race. It takes more skill to launch a rwd car no doubt.
The rs is the winner for practicality. Acceleration on everyday roads beats slow start high speed.
good point indeed. especially if you're out west where the straightaways are long, but on shorter, tighter roads(like back east here), the RS's fast takeoff/braking/pick up/braking/takeoff is a lot of fun.. for what it's worth..
I love the Focus but the Mustang has to be a lot more comfortable as a daily driver. The Focus is probably better to run around a track.

Now to be nitpicky, the UK version of the GT loss a bit of oomph compared to its US counterpart due to the exhaust being rerouted to make room for the steering column in the now right-hand drive setup. It's a small kink and not a massive drop in power but enough to make mention of it. That said the RS is still a rip roaring fun car and both cars have strengths in different areas of motorsport
Nothing wrong with either car, but the RS is actually more efficient at power delivery. Which is the different in a RT chal getting owned by a 5.0 stock mustang

for one... forget all your exact 0-60. They really don't apply to the real world. Soo many variables. It looks as though the RS could probably spank most any regular performance car at a stop light. Great car, look forward to owning one.

Test drove a Focus RS today (will likely buy it). At a red light a corvette pealed out as soon as it changed to green. I wan't expecting a drag race; the noise of the corvette startled me to the point that I stalled. The salesperson and I laughed our butts off. I guess it comes with the territory of owning such a car.
...I love how Europeans, Specifically the english, ALWAYS get the absolute worst times of any acceleration measure in an American car, 5.3 0-60, 11.8s 0-100, 13.3 in the 1/4? And dont give me tat oh these guys are journalists they dont know how to drive bs, These guys review cars for a living, And have the cars for multiple days and do multiple shots and launches. 5.3s? Thats literally a full second off the average 0-60 time everywhere else gets, 11.8s? that is a full TWO seconds off the fastest time, 2, 13.3? Ive only seen a single 13s 1/4, And that was 13.0s flat, And if you look at any other video where they show the acceleration times of cars, Wether its a manual or Rwd or not, There damn near on par to what everyone else is getting. Sorry but this is just bs.
I love how people think that the absolute best times for acceleration are on a wet airport runway. And not a dragstrip slathered in "pimp juice" or similar traction compounds.
@SpecialKLSX Agreed, not to mention, the elevation could have easily hindered some of the N/A V8's performance.
Standard 0-60 mph for the US 5.0 is 4.5-4.6 sec. Not one full sec. And 0-100 mph is 10.8 in the 5.0, again only 1 sec quicker. But you all need to understand, these were tested with 91 octane fuel in the UK. In the US, the hp and specs are for 93-95 octane on all of Fords performance vehicles. The 5.0 is rated 422-425 hp on 91... 433-435 on 93....and the tq is less too. Also, professionals are getting the times in the magazines. These are realistic of two good drivers. 90% of the public can't touch magazines performance numbers.
Michael Harris UK spec Mustangs also have less HP because of something to do with the exhaust
First off, that airport isnt wet in the slightest, Its not even damp. Second, NO magazine/Programme does a stock performance test on a dragstrip and publish its times on it, No publication, If anything its much worse then airport tarmac, Its either parking lot tarmac that has been cleared, Or race tarmac that has been scaled.
Either the drivers don’t know how to drive that Mustang or that Mustang isn’t full fledge like the American one because the Mustang should of kicked it’s ass even though it was a focus RS that it was against

I've heard of Mustangs doing sub 5 easily, so is this 5.3 time just because of a bad launch? Or...?
if its standard then yeah hard to be consistent, driver is main responsible, launch again depends on who's driving.. Also Mustangs have been getting heavier year after year, that too is responsible.. And gear ratio, almost forgot to mention..lol
the driver has to be as bad as a granny or a new licensed boy to be that slow, when this mustang is good for a 4.2 seconds or less 0-60. it is not too heavy lol

because time exists in the less than .1 second intervals. For example, if one was at 13.34 and the other was 13.28, but you were only measuring out to the tenths place, then they both took 13.3 seconds for the quarter mile.
It's basic math, really.

the funniest part is here, this mustang does 4.2 seconds to 60 and the 1/4 mile in the low 12 seconds, these brittons from top gear are dumb.
Reality is with less tha 10lbs of boost and a bolt on supercharger the mustang makes 700+ HP which the Focus could n3 er dream of. So try comparing Apples to Apples and get a Mustang with a dealer installed Roush supercharger whic can be had for under 40k.
Instead of using a the Focus RS a l9mited production factory performance vehicle boosted to the moon, while the Mustang is a run of the mill mass produced everday dime a dozen GT!

The horsepower on the mustang is actually 435 and the torque is 400 and I can tell you right now That a more experienced driver would have got a better launch. That driver does not know how to launch that car

I have a very modified 2016 GTPP but I still love the Focus RS to death.
They should do this race with a Focus RS that has all of Mountune’s aftermarket performance parts vs a 2022 Mustang

Nope. US mustang is the same as in the UK. It all depends on what fuel octane is used. 93-95 octane is 433 hp, 91 octane is 422-425 hp and 89 octane is 415 hp.
Same for Focus RS. Actually, though, the RS is dynoing lower, and this is really at about 340 hp on 93 fuel and 327-330 on 91.
Michael Harris wrong wrong wrong. The right hand drive mustang has a modified exhaust to accommodate the right side steering column and that reduced gas flow and hence the HP is lower.
Would still prefer the focus for everyday use lol

A real Mustang hits 0-60 in 4.3,while the Focus will hit 0-60 on 4.6.The European version is worse
Wrong a Ford mustang hits 60mph in 4.8 seconds and RS is 4.7 seconds look it up there is no Ford mustang that has ever hit passed 4.8 second other than a Shelby carbra

Hammond and clarkson has a go with the mustang and the focus and I’ve noticed that the focus gets the great start leaving the mustang behind at the start but down the straight the mustang catches up and beats the focus to the line
