I swear this is the only video on youtube that explains a double leg from a southpaw vs orthodox position. Finding good techniques online as a lefty is very difficult. Thank you!
Like a picture that has a good fastball and a even better change up practicing getting getting comfortable in your stance where you can throw everything from the same position because the matter of inches and if they think jab and you step like you're jabbing but you level change into a double the timing will work allied GSP
I'm glad you're covering this because I think this move's gaining popularity (as is the choke), but can you please dedicate the last third of the video on how to actually counter it?

Hi. There are many foreigners who believe that Islam is war or terrorism, and this idea is wrong. The religion of Islam is a religion of tolerance, and it teaches patience, trust and good morals. And thanks for reading the comment
@@chloebradshaw8357 I agree, Wrestling is such an important form of combat that even apes use attacks similar to wrestling moves during fights with other apes just cause it's such an effective and intuitive way of showing dominance
I use this all the time. Also in grappling tournaments, I always feint a jab (not hitting my opponent), but just distracting him with a hand movement to the face and then shooting in for the double
It is my A game. I only do it in finals and important matches. In open class, I work on other stuff, but double leg and top control to arm triangle is my most effective moves.
whoa is that gofrankwitit they said in a other video the punches aren’t power shots, they are just to set the shot up, get them thinking up while you go low.
@@Punkboy178 Which i didnt fully agree with, if you can win the fight standing up then do it thats where all fights begin. The threat of powerful strikes create more opportunities for takedowns and hell the opponent might not want to stand up anymore. I dont like wrestling or boxing i think they work best together. But that is from my experiences and just my opinion.
whoa is that gofrankwitit? That is true, but if I am going up against a boxer I’m not gonna go for power shots because they will probably have better exchanges then me.
@@Punkboy178 i understand but no boxer is perfect and always leaves an opening and if you can see that and react on it then throw a good punch is all im saying brother 💯💯
Great video Shane! Hey Shane can you please to a video on who is going to win between Tony Ferguson and Khabib? I would really like to hear your thoughts on it.
Ahmad Dhanish That first jab-cross-hook combo, followed by the level change into double leg would work better if you went jab-cross-hook-feight cross, using the momentum of the feint cross (which your opponent will react to as a cross) to transition into a takedown. The original set up was a three strike combo to get your opponent to get used to defending high before you attack low (jab-cross-hook-takedown). But by using the momentum of the added feint cross to level change for the double, the level change is disguised as what your opponent will think to be a cross at the end of your combo (jab-cross-hook-feint cross / takedown). Where as the first set up relied on your opponent expecting another strike to defend against, and not be fast enought to sprawl once they realize another strike isn't comming to defend against, the GSP set up relies on your opponent not being fast enough to defend against a strike and a takedown at the same time (as the strike is a takedown in disguise).
GSP is the best at hiding attacks within attacks. His kicks to superman punches, his jab to double, and his cross to reactive double. They are just beautifully crafted to look alike and keep his opponents guessing. Possibly the most complete, most integrated fighting style yet.
@@IndigoXYZ18 what about throwing the cross feint like a karate point sparring one? They do shift there weight low to transition into the double leg or am I wrong
There were 2 bad habits in this video. Not clasping the hands together for the takedown is a huge mistake, as an opponent who knows what they are doing can defend the hands with ease. Also, i’m not saying that the hands have to completely clasp together every single time, but look how far his hands are on the outside of both legs. Too wide. The head position was definitely good in this video. So nice on that part! The only other mistake I noticed was that with the parry, he’s spending time trying to grab the wrist and use that for the takedown, which is also a mistake. It is a lot more effective to dodge the punch entirely and shoot straight for the takedown. When an opponent throws the cross punch, they are already gonna be somewhat off balance and open for the takedown. No need to waste time grabbing the hand. Besides that, this video is very easy to understand and can definitely help beginners get somewhere. 👍👍
the counters ofc is elbow (fist?) to the beack of the head or spine(/neck) and that is a counter that can kill and that's why you save that move for matches and not the street (imho)
kungfujoe yup back of the head is illegal in MMA bc it is VERY dangerous. I would never strike to the back of the head unless it was a life or death situation.
it doesn't really matter how many punches you throw before take down , all you need is to distract your opponent and then take your opponent down. btw the technique in this video is very effective I must say .
Keep your head up. Keep your eyes looking atwhere your head is going, this will force you to keep your head up. Keeping your head up also helps get more power for your finish.
Great video but will this techniques work on anybody far as weight class for a example can a middleweight do this technique on heavy weight or bataweight do this on heavyweight?
On the last technic what if he hits you with a left cross jab, man you lefted you face perectly wide open when you took him down and his left hand was free to cross jab and knock you off balance?

For the first double leg set up, I'd feint the cross on the end of that combo while level changing, GSP style.
Can you explain me more of that set up

Sometimes a jab is enough. You just want to see your opponent get his hands up or leaning back, then you can go for a double leg.
