I've trained mma for one year, yet no one thaught me to do a double leg as properly as this. Thanks! I've been doing drunk tackles for this whole time
crap... me too
me too...on the other hand, going into too much detail is probably useless in mma. you will shoot when the guy is allready out of balance, a "tackle" will do it most of the times
@@Jaburu why would you be comfortable with getting a mediocre takedown on a mediocre grappler just because they are off balance?
@@quinntolchin5727 because it's another setup. if the guy is in a wrestling stance I rather knee his head. you have to close the distance, so you wait for an oportunity, or you create it. it's just diferent. Just look at John Jones recent fight for an example. His single leg entry is totaly diferent from what you would learn in wrestling
@@Jaburu I think you're missing my point. Being off balance is not "another" setup. Your opponent being off balance is a great setup in all grappling arts including striking arts and mma. My criticism was not of balance, you said: "a 'tackle' will do it most of the times". That is shitty technique and if you face a good wrestler in the cage, you will need good finishing mechanics on your shot if you want to finish. As he will have good defensive reactions even if off balance. I agree with you that the setups are different, i'm talking about finishing mechanics, which are the same once you close the distance in both sports.
You seriously deserve an award for all the absolutely amazing videos you produce on a regular basis. It's truly incredible the amount of knowledge you have and spread so willingly.
Absolutely true
Yes, he is top dog- great channel indeed
Here I am a 22 year old guy just drilling a double leg in my basement after jiu jitsu practice alongside these little kids. Lol been dumped on my head by too many wrestlers need to practice. Great video for guys like me
🤙🏼
Those kid's take downs are already better than mine, I'm so glad you posted this I need all the help I can get!
You're such a good coach to those little kids.
He is! Great coach
Jesus loves you all
After a while watch this again, seeing those kids learning such great technique under a great teacher, still put a big smile in my face. I hope TH-cam can keep these videos forever so when these kids become adults and older, they still be able to watch this back and remember coach Brian
I don't usually leave comment on videos but this is by far the best breakdown for the double leg takedown on TH-cam that I was able to find
You read my mind, lol. A few of the people I roll with at my bjj gym did highschool/collegiate wrestling, so I always ask if they have time to show me take downs/effective crossover moves/drills to make these movements more effective.
Staggered stance, triangle foot position, head on the outside. (except for Bulgarian Double) Feign hand movement to the opponents eyes, while his eyes are blinking, change levels while driving forward. No one can keep you out.
Awesome instruction. I finally started hitting my double legs yesterday, but I was clearly missing something on the finish. These details helped fill in some huge cracks that I had (most notably the swisher step to an angle). Thank you!
how fun is teaching kids that want to learn....awesome.
I’d say even though they dont want to learn they have to or else they would die in the real world yk.
Wrestling, bjj, judo, and many other martial arts have benefits that may definitely help you way into the future no one cares about you so as i said before you have to fight its what my dad tells me since he has been in similar situations and I learned this not long ago despite being a young kid.
This is excellent. I wrestled at a high level wrestling school in high school. I've done jiu jitsu for 20 years. Never had the double leg broken down like this. Perfect.
THANK YOU! I know I belong in kindergarten learning these. It really is tough finding good beginner videos breaking down the simple mechanics nice and slow. A D1 wrestler just going slow is still way too fast for me. I really came here looking for 'shoot walk like a wrestler across the mat' like it's advanced lunges or something so I can get some muscle memory and build upon that.
Thank you very very much. When people explain stuff to children and they actually get it, that's my teacher right there. You're A+ 👍
My 8 yr old has been at it for
2& 1/2 (Covid messed the 1st season up). This video has taken his skill set to another level!!! Start @1:30 . This guy makes it easy for kids & parents that never wrestled to stop ur kid from taking predictable shots from 50 yards away😂
I would love this same instructional style but with an outside single lol
I just signed up at an MMA gym and this video helped me understand what to expect from the wrestling program. 💪🏻
This video has so much artistic value. It's like seeing those little wrestlers growing in front of our eyes. 😁
We are!
Yeah that was awesome, seeing them line up behind the coach and get into their stance.
I never knew the "swisher step". Very interesting!
My 6 year old has been wrestling for 2 years now and I’ve never seen any of the coaches show this “swisher” step. It makes sense though to get that angle.
I was never taught in high-school, and in college am being told not to bother and just work on what works for me, I needed this
adorable and informative. my bjj/martial arts gym simply doesn't do this or break it down like this. It's amazing to be able to access such fundamental, deep teaching.
These are the best wrestling tutorials on TH-cam. I'm 35 and I've always wanted to learn wrestling but my HS wrestling program disbanded. These video break it down into small very understandable steps.
I just started bjj and I've been needing step by steps like this
That swisher step is new to me. Could never figure out the grip or the angling but this just cleared it all up
Man, these kids doing it, this is awesome, put a big smile on my face.
Hands down the best double leg tutorial out there. Thank you.
Cool,teaching any thing detaily,appreciate it!
This is amazing. I've been trying to do it and have never seen it so clearly broken down before. Thank you 🙏💯
Wow this brought back lots of memories. Been so long since i've wrestled, but i did it for 3 years. Depending on your age, some of you might've heard of Collin Palmer (age 34), he won state Championships 4x with a record of 147-4. We were good friends as kids, & on the same soccer team. He is insanely good.......but now he's a coach. **Thanks for the video
Thank you coach this is an invaluable breakdown!
You sir are by far and away one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. You’ve come a long way. Congrats on all your success and your subscriber base, and thank you for the amazing content.
Thank you!!! 🤙
I’ve watched so many double leg videos, but this one takes the cake. Amazing details. Thanks so much coach!
I love when I see great Kata. Coach B is a top notch Sensei!
Please do another one on single leg fundamentals too coach
Yes this please, I asked same :-)
Fantastic simple breakdown to learn the double.
As a former wrestler, this guy is a really good teacher. He’s spot on about kids not getting the basics taught, drilled and practiced.
It was a great help! Thanks for the great lecture!
we don’t have wrestling here in brazil but I love it, thank you for sharing these !! trying to improve my BJJ no gi game
Amazing video. Perfect. I will follow the rest of the channel. My nephew is starting. I love the teaching format. Thank you!
Great job. I like how you teach the kids…they need to listen and respect.
All 6 of those young men are awesome. Great heart. Fantastic concentration.
Thank You!
Just recently came across your channel, loving to learn wrestling👏🏿
Great video showing the exact steps for illustration. This is the right way to instruct.
Thank you!!! This has helped me so much with my wrestling.
I feel like a Christmas tree with all the lightbulbs I have going off in my head.
Thanks so much coach.
i was doing the double leg WRONG my whole life before watching that video... thank you coach 🙏🏼
I wish I saw this ages ago, I've always had trouble with the double leg, all videos I see do it full speed , including my gym too . Looking forward to practicing this when I go back training
Thank you for this. This is good advice and really helps. I was more successful with double leg takedowns today during Jiu Jitsu thanks to this video.
Hey guys, thanks for posting these videos. My background is striking based and grounded in self defence. I'm just picking up the basics of grappling. These are really useful videos. Thanks a ton for making them.
Snoop Loves Wrestling ArmWrestling Boxing Bodybuilding and Teach me grappling great channel
Great video coach! Boy, this brings me back when I was a kid wrestler.
please coach can you make a playlist with the fundamentals like this? it can be super helpful for people who are starting learning the style! your channel and your traching are amazing!
Thanks Coach Brian from Malaysia!
Man i would have love a program like this when i was little. Not really learning wrestling until high school means you dont really start learning wrestling until high school is over.
This is awesome. I train kids jiujitsu class as an almost purple belt lol. Definitely will be using this drill
Eres un excelente instructor y probablemente el Mejor de todos los Canales en línea.
Beautiful video Coach Brian ❤
Great Coaching.
I wish I had a coach like this as a kid
I've learned more from 3 minutes into this video, than I did in 3 years of High School wrestling.
adam sandler
lol he kinda does look like him.
Excellent tutorial
Great video. I am struggling with take downs in bjj. Unfortunately, I miss most wrestling classes due to my work schedule
It's like you're inside my head man! Thank you for this!
Thanks Brian, will try it tomorrow in my gym!
I was literally just searching for this lol you read my mind!! Thanks coach!!

Just subscribed, you are incredibly gifted in your ability to teach and thank you so much for posting a video on this maneuver!

Beautiful video. It is perfect how you have broken it down step by step. It is also great to see the kids in action. Thank you so much. I will practice this.
You’re coaching is very impressive.

Such good coaching!

Patience in training is key, its the little things that matters when it comes to fighting u need to pay attention to every detail in fighting or u could rlly get messed up rushing things.

Double leg takedown, the Bruce Lee stuff that many "jkd" people online neglect. Find it named and drawn in a diagram on pg.117 Tao of jkd. They didn't have the resources we have or MMA, but he knew it took striking/grappling/wrestling
Excellent instructions, super coach 👌
I wish I could send my kid to train with you, thank you for the great videos!
Great stuff thank you for the video. This was very helpful. 🙏🏾
Beautiful tutorial. Thanks a lot!
Appreciate your amazing content 🙏🏻
Great Video with great detail!!!
Tanks coach from north africa im à good wrestler now 💓🥇
thank you for this awesome instructional
Amazing coach. ❤️🔥🔥🔥
Great drills!
Great video. You're like the king of these four little kids. Question: how do you choose between high crotch and "classic" double leg ?
I personally prefer to shoot a high c then switch to double but it really doesn't matter which entry you use
I typically teach to shoot the high-C on staggered stances and double legs on guys that are squared up.
Mr Peterson you’re awesome sir thank you for giving us this invaluable information for free I think I speak for everyone when I say that we really appreciate the instruction!
