OG Fortnite gave this certain feeling that hasn't been replicated by anything since. It's almost like a fever dream or perhaps a forgone different timeline.
It was almost eerie at first, but also warm and calming. There weren’t fully filled out matches with a bunch of fast gameplay and weapons. You looted and waited to see other players. At the most you went to salty springs and if you survived it’d be a minute before you saw anyone else.
The thing with fortnite was that it was honestly scary. You would run around scared that if you got shot once, it was all over for you. The battles were super intense, and your heart would beat out of your chest like you were in a real battlefield.
That's really why the game seemed so difficult at first. You'd be walking alone in a field and a few minutes later, someone would shoot at you and you'd be scared...
it tried following pubgs route before completely going its own thing(I was playing when it started, out of high school yes I was there from the beginning and played both pubg and og fortnite) (still play pubg tho) Fortnite is toooooo sweaty for me now, I still play it, but don’t take it seriously like I’m trying to go pro like majority of everyone on their lmao but hey I guess that’s what happens when you host 1 million - 2 million dollar events the skins are cool though

OG Fortnite was "perfect" to me because it (BR) was more simple, had a less congested loot pool, significantly fewer 'busted' weapons/items, not overly congested with collabs. Even STW actually got updates and was fun before the ventures came out. Now it just seems like they want you to start from 0 again, which isn't that fun anymore. Overall the game's just become more complicated and congested.
As much as I agree with you in that the lootpool was significantly less full of broken items, I have always preferred chapter 2 season 1's loot. I say this because of the fact that EVERY SINGLE THING, had a place in the sandbox. Like Halo for example. Now it's full of op af ability pickups, some have cool downs, some have limited use, some have both. Hell, even the exotic weapons are just reused assets with stupid, often useless, gimmicks attached. And most of them are literally just worse than a blue gun...
Idk why they didn't add some STW guns. I know the Zapatron was a bit overpowered, but honestly, if you put in the Zapatron today, I don't even think it would be that good with the charge-up time. I feel something like the super shredder would be loved by pros with lower damage but a much longer range and tighter spread. The angering part is they could do this easily. Just import designs and tweak a few numbers to make them not as overpowered.
Even if Epic did OG Fortnite exactly how it is, it wouldn’t be the same bc we all know how to play now and maybe we all grew up too. I don’t think I played Season 0 but I do remember playing Season 1 right before Fortnitemares. The aesthetic, the mechanics and the laughters is something I’ll never forget and I’ll always cherish. My first game was a friend that I don’t talk to anymore, idk how he found out about the game but I remember him begging me to get it bc he wanted a friend to play it with him after we were grinding on GTA, I got it and Our first game we landed in wailing woods, we saw a purple sky and the storm coming towards us and he said it gives us shield (bc we didn’t know how to get shield) so we ran towards the storm and waited in the little shed and I was like why is my green bar going down and he said “that’s our health stupid” and I called him stupid back bc he told us to stay and we were just healing and we were yelling in the mic and panicking, after I got knocked we just revived each other till the storm did more damage and we died and the rest was history. I was 12 at the time and now I am 19. No other game can fill that nostalgia, not even gta, OG Fortnite was a complete perfect game and to them I thank eternally.
Man OG fortnite gave this certain feeling that just made you feel good no matter how many times you died you still wanted to play it over and over and over
I think it was the fact that the game was so new and fresh for us and they cared about there players, but now they don’t care about anyone they only care about themselves and they don’t listen to there community
You mentioning the silence reminds me why I found og Fortnite so relaxing. There were also less people trying to win and more people just goofing around and what not. Some tried to win, but you could build a sky base or camp it out to just watch others go at it and it was fun.
I started this game one week after release when my daughter was around a year old and she would wake me up through the night. Downloaded it through boredom. Now she’s 8 years old and plays with me. Crazy to look back on.
The only reason I can't hate on Fortnite nowadays is because the impact the old game had on my life and other people's lives was massive, it's just insanely affiliated to good memories, happiness and innocence. Now it feels like the game got older with the community, and it grew up and changed, to something we'll never experience again, and I can say that I'm proud to have lived that Fortnite era which easily made my life easier and more beautiful at that time. This video is just great, for a little channel there's nothing that annoyed me, the commentary just felt professionnal.
i think you growing up has the biggest impact. i promise you kids today feel the say playing like you did, you just probably have other priorities etc today
It won't be the same. OG Fortnite will have the current movement system and graphics. There's nothing OG about it, it's just the old map and weapons. It doesn't capture the true feeling of OG Fortnite unfortunately... A creative could of made the map and mode and slapped on the OG label to it. Also turbo build makes a MASSIVE difference in gameplay. Granted it was brought in around S4-S5 I believe?
@@thedailycheckpoint What you mean I was wrong? I was right, they have the modern movement in OG. Only part was the graphics, even then it's not really OG graphics is it? Nope
@@thedailycheckpointhe's right tho the modern movement kinda kills the vibe. OG fortnite was just walking and running, no sprinting or mantling, climbing or high jumping
This makes me want to cry, it maybe crigne or something but OG fortnite was my childhood. I remember i was 6 years old or something and showing my brother the new game i found on the playstation store. i loaded up and landed in loot lake. It was season 1 some days later season 2 dropped. Me and my brother begged our mom to get the new battle pass. We were so excited, then next thing I remember i was watching my brother in endgame he sat in a bush had his pickaxe equiped only one person was left. He equiped is rocket launcher and shot it at the ground. We have won. This was such an amazing experience. I miss OG fortnite. Last year when OG remix dropped i had the time of my life with my friends. Eventough it wasnt the same. It was just so nostalgic.
20:40 the reason og Fortnite was considered “perfect” was because of its imperfections. All the glitches and broken guns made the game unpredictable, and there was no complaining from the player base. Once everyone tried being the best, they started caring about how the game ran and how ‘playable’ the game was.
I love the simple and classic Fortnite, stuff like Ch1 S1-4 and Ch2 S1-2, when the map is just basic grasslands and forests, there’s a simple loot pool, and the whole game feels really grounded but also unique. I’m not saying the really crazy and over the top Fortnite is bad, I just love those early seasons from the first 2 chapters. It felt like back in the day, people were playing for wins rather than playing for kills, so you’d get people actively avoiding fights, and you don’t really get that anymore. And I don’t mean that people would camp, but it really felt like a free for all where people actually wanted to come out alive rather than a killing simulator.
okay that is true, people now kinda throw themselves once they see an enemy despite the fact that they know they will die right after getting their kill
Yeah last time e had that feeling and gameplay was in Chapter 3 Season 1 everything else was chaotic i cant wait for fortnite OG i hope they bring old graphics and movement.
What I feel for Fortnite is what I felt with my childhood best friend about 6 years ago. It was the best time of my life, I lived the best moments. It was something that felt like it only happens once in a very long time. But as the years went by that friendship faded away until it broke, and that friend you loved so much in the past has become something you no longer feel anything for. Fortnite OG is the memories, not the game itself.
This is coming from my heart as a ''OG'' player myself, I do not think there will be another game like Fortnite that replicates the exact motions we all had when we were children. The cartoonish aspect like he said is gone, majority of games are hyper realistic with players who are absolutely insane. Fortnite was filled with new players learning the ropes and having fun. Here's a quote from Dr. Seuss, ''Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happend.''
It's just crazy how seeing this beautiful time of the game gives me so many feelings. Mostly nostalgia and I just wanna go back to those days. Getting home from school turning on the PS4 and grinding the crap out of this game with your friends.
I usually never comment on any videos but this got randomly recommended to me and I don't regret watching a single second of your video. Thanks for summing up the personally, greatest time of fortnite.
we really do need another game like early fortnite. everything has become so stale and toxic in gaming, entertainment, and beyond, and we can't just keep going on like this
2:10 massive? you know what else is MASSIVE? the low taper fade meme is still MASSIVE, yeah i know right. Im seeing new videos wit millions of views, the meme is still Massive
7:34 Dota 2 was the first game to introduce a battle pass system, Fortnite was the first to implement it in a battle royal and that was what popularized it
You gotta remember that we were all very young, little to no responsibility and the world wasn't on the edge of ending. Nothing is really new to us, it is to those kids who now are as old as us when we started playing, but yet I know things are truly different nowadays, things are more expensive, more complex and etc, I miss playing OG Fortnite
there was something special with this games graphics back then. the old night sky and the old sunset was just so good to look at. Honestly even the chapter 5 sunset was good too but doesnt look like that anymore
I remember being 12 when the first two seasons were out. I was in 7th grade at the time. I had previously been homeless with my mother, but I moved in with my grandmother. She ended up being me a used PS4 from the pawn shop and I played Fortnite and the old 2K games. They will always have a place in my heart; they were there for me when I was going through really tough times as a kid.
Man, this really got to me 🥹 I can relate, believe me. A different set of circumstances, but yeah some tough times. I hope you and your family are safe and stronger, bro. 🙏 And I’m glad you had an escape. I think Fortnite was just that for a lot of us when we were kids.
Forever chasing that prime Fortnite feeling. Running duos with my boy in season 1 was peak gaming for me. Few games were able to bring out our competitiveness like Fortnite did (Rocket League is another) Unfortunately, playing against PC sweats isnt enjoyable when I'm on console. So many edits that aren't even really possible on console. Enjoying OG rn I guess but sure they'll ruin it somehow like they've done in the past Great vid!
Because it was basically a brand new concept of a game, obviously battle royale existed before, but the player base on them was very low so when Fortnite came out it was so new to everyone and nobody knew what they were really doing so when it blew up it gave that perfect feel because you could just go home from school and grind with your friends and not have to deal with any sweats like today, nothing will ever be like prime Fortnite
Fortnite was a big part of my life during that time. After playing cod for so many years, I gave Fortnite a try, and I miss it. Getting on with friends, laughing, and messing around.
November 25th 2017 was when I joined. I got the game for my birthday only to learn it was free. The aesthetic, the skins, the unique items, playing with friends from school, my life was perfect during that time. I miss it, but at least I can play Reload
Merry Marauder was my first skin. Got him on update day. My mains are Burnout, Rust Lord, Jellie, and a few others. It's so surreal comparing Chapter 5 to Chapter 1. They both feel like totally different games and I'm fine with that, but I miss the OG aesthetic so much
I didn't play during season 0, but I can tell you that I had these same feelings when I first played the game. Jumping from the bus for the first time, all of that first game was amazing, and I haven't gotten that feeling back sense.
gotta love how the storyline of this video feels so humane, not like a boring documentatiuve 1hour video, this is an experience, nostalgia and memories come back. Thank you
OG fortnite just felt unreal. It was just like a fever dream that was never true. Looking at fortnite today, It has changed so much from when I used to play, back in chapter 0. The scenery, the sounds, the graphics, the lighting, everything. They can never bring it back. Good times especially in the winterfest in 2018 just sitting on my chair with christmas decorations and a hot chocolate. Those were the days man. Looking outside to see its snowing everywhere. It was just amazing.
You basically just described some of my best childhood memories. Everything. The Christmas decorations and hot chocolate. Looking outside and seeing the snow fall, praying they’d cancel school so I could play Fortnite all day! 🥹
I do remember when the game came out back then. I was totally a noob in it, but i smelt the freshness, the new oopportunity to play with friends besides minecraft and the other games i had. So I played it continuously during the fall of 2017, until the end of the 2010's. It was an amazing era. It's been 7 years now. I've grown up. I left the game for years now. Now it's just a nice childhood memory. Still can't believe it was almost 10 years ago. Thank You, Fortnite.
Thanks dude I really appreciate that. Hoping to become a creator full time. I love making content and it seems by this comment section that others like my content as well❤️
Man this game was truly a masterpiece, definitely on my top 3 games of all time. Thanks for doing such a good job of documenting it, I actually shed a couple tears looking at the season 2 content. 🙌
I wouldn’t say the game is super hated now. It’s still one of if not the most popular games on the market. And it’s still a game I am in love with. I grew up playing Halo 3, Halo Reach, and Halo 4 as a kid as well as some MW and Blackops. Some people do like to say Fortnite is for kids but I know several people who are college age like myself who play this game pretty religiously. Fortnite is a special game and as someone who was a kid in the 2000s when all the big “legacy” games were out on Xbox360 and PS3 I’d still rank Fortnite up there among them as my personal favorites of all time
You reminded of how great season 2 was. I remember spending $40 for the remainder of the battle pass to get Black Knight, didn’t think I had much time left to grind. Still, 7 years later this game impresses me just as much as it did then.
Thank you so much for a video like this, I used to play Fortnite at the very beginning, I remember I wanted to play pubg but I had to pay for it, then this gem appeared and I have one of my best times ever, I’m a very nostalgic person and watching this kind of content gives me a warm feeling, I truly appreciate it, just thinking about all the clips compilation and all the effort you put on this video it’s amazing.
My 2 favorite points in Fortnite history was summer 2019 so season 8-9 and chapter 2 season 2 with the agency. These were just the times I remember having so much fun with the game and all my friends were playing, I woke up in the morning excited to hop on and do battle pass challenges or level up to get my golden battle pass skins. I think I got near level 250 in ch. 2 season 2, the highest I ever have. The game was fresh, fun, and simple. I miss those times so much.
I was around 10-11 when I first started playing Fortnite back in early 2018 (Season 3) and it was so much simpler getting home from school, no responsibilities, and being able to play such a great game that genuinely was enjoyable unlike games now (maybe that’s just nostalgia The last time I genuinely had real fun on Fortnite was during quarantine
I really don’t feel like there will be another game like Fortnite. To be the next biggest game in the world that’s still going strong 7 years into its life. I genuinely do feel like Fortnite was a once in a lifetime game that we won’t see another game quite like it.
I truly feel like their will never be a game that started out as strong as fortnite, those first 5 seasons were so much fun I can genuinely say some of the most cherished memories I have were grinding games with the boys all night absolutely addicted to getting that victory royale, but even if you didn't you still had a blast and know that you got better for next time, you just had to be there
Gaming and the culture behind it is so different these days, I grew up with the ps2 and then eventually the xbox 360 and Fortnite just felt like a throwback to what gaming was like back then, only instead of coming home from school to hop on with the boys we were coming home from work. Like all things though it got old and everyone moved on to other games, it was impossible for Fortnite to remain as big as it was forever.
Harry bro I really appreciate it. This has been my passion to make videos since I was 8 years old (Now 18). Honestly positive comments like these make me strive to create content. Thank you!!!
What made it so perfect is so much here’s my list: -movement, no strange uncomfortable camera angles, no tactical sprint, etc -graphics, no insane graphics just basic simple stuff -simplicity, no medallions, no bounties, no High tech weapons Everything was just so much better and I miss it
I still remember my first win with my Sparkle Specialist skin, Double Pump at Loot Lake. Each POI had its own special feature that made it unique. OG Fortnite was lightning in a bottle.
Now games are very complex, before games were simpler, which made them better, Fortnite is an example of this, now everything is complex, before it was simple but fun. 😢😢😢
This is the kind of video I’ll be showing to my children or a significant other 10 years from now while talking about how this game shaped a huge part of my childhood. Absolutely incredible video.

i think you growing up has the biggest impact. i promise you kids today feel the say playing like you did, you just probably have other priorities etc today

Some people at epic definitely watched this. Convenient they announced OG will stay forever a month later
🎯
It won't be the same.
OG Fortnite will have the current movement system and graphics.
There's nothing OG about it, it's just the old map and weapons. It doesn't capture the true feeling of OG Fortnite unfortunately... A creative could of made the map and mode and slapped on the OG label to it.
Also turbo build makes a MASSIVE difference in gameplay. Granted it was brought in around S4-S5 I believe?
@@Shooha_Babeyou were wrong 😂
It’s not cringe bro, just remembering old times is all
I understand but crying over Fortnite is lowkey crazy
3:11 that's why the storm was scary back in the day
So true bro, last alive with the zone closing in was so scary
The sound of the zone closure warning was also scary
It was scary because it was harder to outrun it but now the storm is kinda useless
And I don’t mean that people would camp, but it really felt like a free for all where people actually wanted to come out alive rather than a killing simulator.
you are so right
okay that is true, people now kinda throw themselves once they see an enemy despite the fact that they know they will die right after getting their kill

A bittersweet truth.
@@TrickyFN So true, Fortnite was something that was never seen before and was new and original and not some copy and paste of other games.
@@TrickyFN also great new video
It's just crazy how seeing this beautiful time of the game gives me so many feelings. Mostly nostalgia and I just wanna go back to those days. Getting home from school turning on the PS4 and grinding the crap out of this game with your friends.
I usually never comment on any videos but this got randomly recommended to me and I don't regret watching a single second of your video. Thanks for summing up the personally, greatest time of fortnite.

we really do need another game like early fortnite. everything has become so stale and toxic in gaming, entertainment, and beyond, and we can't just keep going on like this

I thought I was tweaking a bit when I saw my own clips lol, great video!
7:34 Dota 2 was the first game to introduce a battle pass system, Fortnite was the first to implement it in a battle royal and that was what popularized it
It was so simple. Now there’s too much going on.
Exactly
The tone and elaboration in this video is great
Thank you! I tried my hardest on this video with research and elaboration.
Seriously. Bro checked all the boxes
As much as I dislike current Fortnite, I think we needed Fortnite to change in order to appreciate what we had
I was in 6th grade when I first played it, I am now 19, and going to medical school. The days man, the days. I wish I never grew up. 😢
oh man yes the silence running through the fields by yourself, sometimes i would just listen to the ambience, and i really loved the night time
there was something special with this games graphics back then. the old night sky and the old sunset was just so good to look at.
Man, this really got to me 🥹
I can relate, believe me. A different set of circumstances, but yeah some tough times. I hope you and your family are safe and stronger, bro. 🙏
And I’m glad you had an escape. I think Fortnite was just that for a lot of us when we were kids.
Forever chasing that prime Fortnite feeling. Running duos with my boy in season 1 was peak gaming for me. Few games were able to bring out our competitiveness like Fortnite did (Rocket League is another)
Unfortunately, playing against PC sweats isnt enjoyable when I'm on console. So many edits that aren't even really possible on console. Enjoying OG rn I guess but sure they'll ruin it somehow like they've done in the past
Great vid!
Bro, ty so much. Yeah I feel ya. Kinda my experience, as well. 👊
Man I miss the old graphics and the silence
Yea, Am I crazy did it stop being so scenic after a while. I wanna say season 1-7 is when the game looked the absolute best.
We went from peak to virtual lego sets and iron man guitar
Ikr it's really sad how bad this game fell off
Iron man is one of the coolest things ever so
What’s wrong with that
Listening to a guy yammer on about how cool old Fortnite was is peak
Because it was basically a brand new concept of a game, obviously battle royale existed before, but the player base on them was very low so when Fortnite came out it was so new to everyone and nobody knew what they were really doing so when it blew up it gave that perfect feel because you could just go home from school and grind with your friends and not have to deal with any sweats like today, nothing will ever be like prime Fortnite
Facts, bro 🥹👊
Thanks for watching and sharing your feedback 🙏
They both feel like totally different games and I'm fine with that, but I miss the OG aesthetic so much
bro we share a birthday
I didn't play during season 0, but I can tell you that I had these same feelings when I first played the game. Jumping from the bus for the first time, all of that first game was amazing, and I haven't gotten that feeling back sense.
I will never understand how people can look at this and still say it’s solely because of nostalgia. The game was legit better back then
gotta love how the storyline of this video feels so humane, not like a boring documentatiuve 1hour video, this is an experience, nostalgia and memories come back. Thank you
Yo man, thank you! Means a lot to me and I appreciate the supportive comment! 👊
This video perfectly captures the feeling of the good old days
am i the only one that teared up watching this? Farewell Og Fortnite.

So I played it continuously during the fall of 2017, until the end of the 2010's. It was an amazing era.

Bro dropped casually a peak video. I felt this video more then anything else but I really hope that some thing similar to fortnite will come soon.

13:18 - Lore is def not corny for a kids game. Kids have vivid boundless imagination, if anything this was genius
🥹 The best memories! Thanks for watching, bro! 👊
I was around 10-11 when I first started playing Fortnite back in early 2018 (Season 3) and it was so much simpler getting home from school, no responsibilities, and being able to play such a great game that genuinely was enjoyable unlike games now (maybe that’s just nostalgia
The last time I genuinely had real fun on Fortnite was during quarantine
it was tricky finding this channel 😃😏 great work my dude keep it up 🤙🏽
Thanks bro
I really don’t feel like there will be another game like Fortnite. To be the next biggest game in the world that’s still going strong 7 years into its life. I genuinely do feel like Fortnite was a once in a lifetime game that we won’t see another game quite like it.
Maybe the next Grand Theft Auto. Who knows.
Like all things though it got old and everyone moved on to other games, it was impossible for Fortnite to remain as big as it was forever.
i really find your videos truly inspiring because the way you talk its really calming keep up the content man!

Yup
OG Fortnite will always be nostalgic for me 🫶🏼
What made it so perfect is so much here’s my list:
-movement, no strange uncomfortable camera angles, no tactical sprint, etc
-graphics, no insane graphics just basic simple stuff
-simplicity, no medallions, no bounties, no High tech weapons
Everything was just so much better and I miss it
Valid list, bro.
