I know right? Btw it’s creepy that I can’t find out how old the character Jocelyn is supposed to be. If this is even loosely based on Britney Spears story, she was underage when all these bad things happened to her. However when I try to find out how old Jocelyn is on google, I keep getting told “Lily-Rose Depp is 24” 😑. I’m asking how old the character is not how old the actor is. If the character is underage it somehow makes The Weeknd look EVEN MORE creepy than he already did. Maybe someone else has had better luck googling this.
Well... he's certainly not hot. But usually one doesn't actually stay with an abuser for that reason, but because of the brainwash. Many abusers are ugly lol. Abusers mess with your head but also gives you such great highs that you stay through the abuse because you want those amazing moments so convince yourself the relationship is just in a temporary bad place and you can overcome it and things can be good, but they never get good it stays awful but with the occasional 'high' moments because abusers want control and for you to feel like you need him because it gives him power.

This show feels like it’s trying to be in a similar tone to 13 reasons why. Where the depravity is meant to be taken as deep. But like 13 reasons, the subject matter is handled poorly

The original show was written and directed by a woman and according to everyone who worked on the first run (which was nearly completed with 5/6 episodes filmed and cost $50mil to make before it was all scrapped when the new showrunner took over) said it was brilliant and covered the subject matter in an engaging way. Then The Weekend got pissy, saying he felt like the show (which is about a young female starlet who was trying to navigate her career and find herself while contending with abuse and exploitation on both a personal and industry level) was "too much from the female perspective" and not enough from the 'male' perspective, aka his character, who is a sociopathic cult leader who rapes and abuses the female lead all throughout the show. So the Euphoria guy takes over the show and they turn the entire thing into porn for guys who get hard watching women be raped and beaten, and then turn around at the end and make the victim the villain, having her turn out to be lying about her childhood abuse and falsely accuse The Weekend's character of rape, even tho doing so made no sense and undermined the entire story up to that point. To give you an idea of the kind of shit we're talking about here, one of the scenes that they ultimately had to scrap because they couldn't make it work without forcing the female lead to do things she wouldn't do, was the male lead forcing her to carry an egg in her vagina while she worked without dropping or cracking it, and if she failed he told her he would punish her by "not raping her". The female lead then cried and begged the male lead to rape her over and over. The promise of rape was a reward that she desperately wanted. There was literally no reason for why this would be the case btw, they didn't set the female lead up as being mentally ill or traumatized, her childhood trauma (which they basically retconned out of existence at the end anyway) was her mother being abusive and forcing her into the industry, not her being sexually abused or anything. It's literally just grotesque, misogynistic torture porn with middle school-edgelord tier shock tactics, it's not even trying to be anything deeper than that.
This was the first review I've seen of this show to posit that Lily Rose Depp's status as Johnny Depp's spawn gave Lily any pull on this show's production.
My dad ran his own company called Confident Cargo USA a few years ago, and through it, he would ship cars around the country. One of his last customers before he stopped was the weekend. Got to meet him and everything. Nice guy from what he told me.
I did some VFX work on the first episode of this show before it was scrapped and reshot entirely. We never heard back from them once reshoots were seen as essential. Thankfully it didn't eat up too much of my time, haha.

You mentioned Succession and Barry. You should definitely watch Mr. Inbetween. It wrapped up its final season or series earlier this year. It's an Australian series in which a man balances a life of helping his disabled brother, keeping his daughter part of the time due to joint custody, and killing or beating the shit out of anyone he's paid to do. All horrible people, some downright monsters. As much as I liked Barry (I didn't like Succession, because I hated every single character in the entire series), I felt like Mr. Inbetween was an even better series. Not one bad episode in the entire series. It just gets better with each new season. It's funny, it's sad, it's brutal, it's intense. It's everything I want in a series, and then some. Great ending as well.
I applaud not only did you watch this show, which would have taken an enormous undertaking, but you then mustered the energy to make a video, meaning you went back for more. Me watching your video now is extremely challenging in itself. Well done.

As someone that’s a regular listener of kpop and a big fan of The Weeknd’s music, I was pretty excited to see a show like this coming out! I wouldn’t be lying if I said I mainly just started the show because I heard jennie was in it. Then I watched it… this show was trash. And after seeing how Abel was acting on social media I’ve had to block him on everything and act like this show didn’t happen just so I can still enjoy his music. Truly a tragedy.

As someone that’s a regular listener of kpop and a big fan of The Weeknd’s music, I was pretty excited to see a show like this coming out! I wouldn’t be lying if I said I mainly just started the show because I heard jennie was in it. Then I watched it… this show was trash. And after seeing how Abel was acting on social media I’ve had to block him on everything and act like this show didn’t happen just so I can still enjoy his music. Truly a tragedy.
