Nah, Depp played good with the shit she was given. The scene where she's dancing and calls out to her mom was touching. That scene made me so sad, it really showed what the show _could_ have been
Let me be clear. I LOVE the weeknd as an artist. He makes amazing music and is masterful at his craft. He's an expert when it comes to creating amazing albums with a sense of uniqueness and creativity that NO OTHER artist has. Its beauty. However? I HATE The Idol. And as much as I love The Weeknd as an artist? His acting is TERRIBLE. And this show is dogshit. This show is terrible in writing and his acting is just....horrible. I still love The Weeknd because I believe all the good hes given to the world outdoes this terrible show and its writing that he took a part in. I still love Abel Tesfaye and all the amazing kindness hes shown to many of his fans followers, and even people who dont know who he is which is rare. I would never say all of that is to be thrown away because of how terrible this show is. But despite my love for The Weeknd, this show is terrible, along with its writing and his acting. That is something that'll never change, no matter what he does.
You might hate the writing and The Weeknd's performance, but she actually gave a pretty good performance considering how awful the material she was given is. The same goes for Rachel Sennott. And I don't think it went unnoticed since she is the lead in Robert Eggers' Nosferatu remake.
His acting definitely needs work, but the script would make the show cringe regardless of who plays his role. If he actually got a role which fit him and had a good script, I think he’d actually do a decent job. Obviously he needs to refine his acting abilities, but this is his first ever acting role and maybe we should cut him some slack - if you don’t he’ll curb stomp your a**.
I was thinking the same thing: horrible writing! His character had to be the flattest, worst stereotypical bs role I've ever seen, and in an HBO show????? HBO usually has far better standards for writing than this. The writing team just didn't get into the head of this character at all and it was horrible to watch. I feel like this is part of why the horrible assault scenes are even cringier to watch. They could have even gone more of a 50 Shades direction with those (which ironically, The Weeknd already has some attachment to already), and that would have even been better than whatever came out of this crappy script. I don't think The Weeknd could have saved this garbage fire even if he tried harder. This series definitely made him look like a horrible actor but people also need to think of how they wanted to see this performed because, if they did, they'd realize there's literally NOWHEREEE for this character to go that would have been reasonable or ideal. It's crap writing.
Aight, I didn’t know he was one of the producers. I take back “let’s cut him some slack”. Man knew the direction the show was going and got on the train anyway. 💀
The timing for this kind of show couldn’t be worse. In the post “me too” era, Hollywood degeneracy and exploitation are in everyone’s cross hairs (rightly so). Who in their right mind would try to make a show trying to glorify and romanticize this type of sleaze?…. It’s literally the exact opposite of what people want!
@@eigbwgoiweiuiuebvbwell i don’t blame her tbh, the show had a different director and plot at first, so i think she couldn’t just give up when it started leading towards this direction
Lily rose is an actress not a singer, and The Weekend is a singer and definitely not an actor. So I guess it’s safe to say that they swapped professions during this show 💀
Threats when your short can work very well. Imo martin freeman does that very well as john Watson. Except in this guy's case, both his physical and mental ability were not on his side. I wish i had a fraction of that dude's confidence.
He’s like the kid that didn’t go through puberty he just stayed round faced and soft but is trying to act hard and grown up😂😂😂😂Haha even though he technically is older
People seem to forget that they have to follow a script so really it’s the writers to be blamed. But shiii he f*cked up for even reading the script and being like “YA THIS IS GREAT, I WOULD LOVE TO ACT THIS OUT! 😃” this show was pure garbage from all parties 💯
if bros a narcissist and a womanizer at least get some good acting coaching I think he takes too many things at the same time I am also disappointed as a fan ( I should already because of his lyrics lol but music wise I enjoy I gave him a chance for his art ) for him saying the r word and still not being a good actor tho I don't think I can listen anymore tho from these clips I will have to wait a couple years 💀
Nah, as a fan too who hasn't seen this show but jus clips like this one. I can still separate his music from this. He tried a new lane and it didn't work out. Many music artists get into acting, some succeed and some don't. It's like Ice Cube being in all those awful comedy movies, doesn't change the fact he made GOATED music. Or Snoop doing literally anything for a pay check nowadays, he still made incredible music back in the day. I personally don't think some artists misses can jus cancel out the hits. People can argue Abel is a bad actor, which is cool. But to think a character he's playing (poorly) is somehow a reflection of him as a person is jus weird and false. Regardless of taking inspiration from life experiences or an exaggerated version of himself, it's still fiction and not an accurate reflection of his real life self.
*wounded grimace* ............ "iaintgay." Sam: "Cut, cut -- I think we got it. Abel... Fuckin' felt it, man. Just give this guy a goddamn Emmy already!"
I think it's not about his lack of acting skills, it's about how much he feels committed to the role. Because in his music videos his acting shows so much more emotion, facial expressions and strong gestures.
@@cowabunga_mother the fact he even had the power to do that shows that he didn't need this show. He is already beyond successful, he made it. This movie was just some side project for him

He sounds like a kid trying to be cool lmao. Doesn't he know any other curse words other than the f one lol XD
It's crap writing.
he's one of the producers of the show so it's also his fault 💀
Nah, no slack. He said "this is good enough" and here we are
Aight, I didn’t know he was one of the producers. I take back “let’s cut him some slack”. Man knew the direction the show was going and got on the train anyway. 💀
He wrote the script bro
The timing for this kind of show couldn’t be worse. In the post “me too” era, Hollywood degeneracy and exploitation are in everyone’s cross hairs (rightly so). Who in their right mind would try to make a show trying to glorify and romanticize this type of sleaze?…. It’s literally the exact opposite of what people want!
Whoever is tired of radical liberals bs would
Literally the point of this show was to line up with those metoo sensibilities but thanks to the weeknd and Sam Levinson it became the exact opposite

if bros a narcissist and a womanizer at least get some good acting coaching I think he takes too many things at the same time I am also disappointed as a fan ( I should already because of his lyrics lol but music wise I enjoy I gave him a chance for his art ) for him saying the r word and still not being a good actor tho I don't think I can listen anymore tho from these clips I will have to wait a couple years 💀
Nah, as a fan too who hasn't seen this show but jus clips like this one.
