    *NOTE* - If your hands are already very irritated, I definitely recommend looking at the fragrance free options. The chart at the end is my personal ranking based on my hands that are not currently chapped at the moment. I hope you loved the video! 😀

      Vaseline is a real good choice for badly chapped, cracked hands as well. & holds off transdermal water loss too. 😊

      Yes, and I would like to add if you're hands are literally cracked and bleeding like mine, get CeraVe Healing Ointment that one has 46.5% Petrolatum and loaded with dimethicon and ceramides but it feels way better that Vaseline

      I actually like my hand lotions with fragrance. It's part of the reason why I put them on cause I like my hands to smell nice. I don't think it irritates them or anything.

    🥰I would LOVE to see a shampoo/conditioner version of this! Particularly including brands with a lot of hype in social media such as: Function of Beauty, Aveda, Olaplex, Briogeo, Living Proof, Kerastase, Ouai, Drybar, OGX, Sheamoisture. Anyone else? 🙋🏼‍♀️

      Idk if this helps but most dermatologist and estheticians say that a separate cream for your eyes is unnecessary. You can just bring your regular moisturizer up to your brow bone and around your eyes.

    • @Namastephie
      @Namastephie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I agree with the comment above dermatologists and estheticians that don’t have a personal line they are selling tell you there is no need for an eye cream . Mine said if an eye cream was that amazing you would want it all over your face anyway so either use your eye cream everywhere on your face and neck or don’t be afraid to use your favorite moisturizer all over!

    My husband's hands are severely chemical burned from a work accident several years ago, and every summer, the humidity obliterates his skin. Deep cracking, peeling, blistering, all that, and he SWEARS by O'Keeffe's Working Hands. It's the only thing that helps heal and stop itching for him, and he's tried so many things.
    If anyone is wondering, it was dish sanitizer that was too strong that destroyed his skin when he worked as a dishwasher.
    Thank you, Jen, for this video! Now I can help him pick out other good things for his hands :)

    My kids have exzema on their skin & the doctor told me every night before bed wash their hands..then don't dry them , cover in vaseline ( petroleum jelly) & put hands in cotton gloves .
    In the morning their hands are so soft & completely clear of exzema.. usually do this once a week ...it so simple but works amazing...do the same for my son's legs when he get an exzma flair up ..but I have to wrap his legs in cotton wrap ...I dont know the science behind it but it works amazing !!

    • @karenem7489
      @karenem7489 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      My son was also wet bandaged. The difference is that Jen said air drying your hands is not good. Your method is locking the moisture in with the Vaseline so the water doesn’t have a chance to dehydrate on the skin. I used to use sorbilene cream instead of vaso. You can also wash with sorbilene.

    Am I the only person who is washing their hands as often as before the pandemic?! I already washed my hands often and I needed to change nothing in my hand hygiene when lovely corona came. And if you are just staying home all the time, why would you wash your hands any more often than usually? I wash my hands before I eat, before I wash my face, after toilet, after I get home, or anytime they get otherwise dirty... it has been ridiculous to see some youtubers to use hand sanitizers when being AT HOME filming. The alcoholic hand sanitizers are good if you can’t access to water and soap!

      Noora h I have wondering the same thing about people staying home. I have actually washed my hands less since being home I was teaching kindergarten so when schools were open my hands were so beat up cause I washed all the time. Now being home it’s like meals coming in from outside and around the time I need to wash my face or touch my contacts. So my hands think this is a vacation lol

      I’ve always been a chronic hand washer, and am really wondering now how many people weren’t washing their hands. At first I thought it was weird that people were flying through hand soap all of a sudden, but big picture I guess I can’t be mad that people are being “too hygienic”. I’m washing my hands slightly more often, but mostly if I’ve been in public places.

    • @zhannad750

      Very similar, indeed :) but I did pump up my game in terms of technique (actually Googled and practice a proper one) and timing (20 seconds can be a loooong time). But I added washings for dealing with groceries and parcels-- I would rinse but not wash thoroughly after stocking my fridge, for example. Never thought about washing hands after unpacking a parcel of creams and stuff from a local drugstore :)

    • @lisamo1013
      @lisamo1013 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I never used to wash my hands this much. Sure I wash them after using the bathroom or before eating but not after going to a store, taking public transport or even just touching the front door of my apartment building. Especially when bringing groceries to my bf grandma the hand washing/cleansing becomes very ecxessive. The weather being very dry recently also hasn't been helping.

    A tip for anyone trying to avoid fragrance: look into other moisturizing products too, if you can't find a fragrance-free hand cream that suits your needs, maybe there's a body lotion that works (which might even be cheaper per ounce). Corn Huskers is the name. It has a very high glycerin content and my father used it for decades, until it started affecting his allergies and he had to change. But I used it as well and it made my hands so soft, no cuticles and no hangnails. Cost was $5 a bottle.

    I almost wish you had gone over some of DECIEM’s hand creams from The Chemistry Brand, I’m so interested in that line.
    Also as far as my research as come, peptides and ceramides don’t need to be at a super high concentration. As they are generally powerful actives, you will see the benefits pretty quickly at lower concentration and they are generally very very expensive ingredients because they’re proven, so having them at a lower concentration keeps the cost relatively reasonable.

I too cannot stand heavy fragrance, I found an alternative to the L’occitane hand cream at Trader Joe’s, I think it’s very similar, except the fragrance is more subtle. They carry a Rose Oil hand cream that I like too. I will give the Caudalie one a try since I need something with anti-aging properties 😬 I hardly comment but I would like to say that I love all your videos and appreciate all the research you do for us!!

    I really good option if you like the L’Occitan hand cream is the Trader Joe’s 20% shea hand cream. I know it won’t be accessible to everyone but it’s ridiculously cheap considering how nice it is, and when I compared the two side by side I actually preferred the Trader Joe’s version because it was even more moisturizing.

    The “Norwegian formula” is a nod to deep sea fishing, implying that even hardened deep sea fishermen use that hand cream. It’s a snazzy marketing thing. It does make hands soft though.

    • @jfm14
      @jfm14 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It was allegedly inspired by Arctic fishermen during WWII, whose hands remained soft due to the fish oil. Norwegian Formula doesn't have fish oil though, so yeah... marketing. 😏 Works great for me though!

    • @sara_387
      @sara_387 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, It’s probably likely that Scandinavian fisherman made their own hand cream from animal fats. Glycerine was derived from animal fats, including fish oils. Now glycerin from plant sources is usually used. My Danish grandmother had a painting of two fishmonger ladies and she would always tell us that they were praised with having the softest hands.

I use the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion for my hands. :) Possibly weird, but I also use the Paula's Choice Moisture Boost toner! I like it for my hands and feet. Absorbs quickly, and is great moisture! My face is combo/oily, so I don't use that toner on my face (I use a different toner), but I love it for my hands!

My two favorite hand creams are Scentuals hand &body lotion, and Hempz Herbal body moisturizer. Jen should definitely try Scentuals since it's a really pure ingredient brand made in Canada. All (if not most) of their products are 100% natural with organic ingredients . The Hempz lotions combine hemp oil with many other amazing oils like avocado, shea butter, sweet almond, sunflower, and jojoba and are mixed with fruit/plant extracts. Loved the video, and I adore this series! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication ❤️😀

    I’ve struggled with dry, cracked hands in the winter for years, which I believe is at least partially due to my Raynaud’s disease. I have found Bath and Body Works essential oil lotions (NOT the regular) to be extremely effective for me. Not only do they hydrate my hands but they also help neutralize the color of my hands from raynauds and you also get the aromatherapy benefit. In the past I’ve used Tree Hut’s mango hand cream which helped a lot. I also recommend Aveeno and Eucerin.

      I have a problem with hand lotions burning too. And I hate greasy - hard to work with papers with greasy fingers. My all time favorite hand lotion is Tocca's Crema da Mano. $10 for 1.5 oz. The frangrances are strong and uhm....creative? But in a good way, I love Cleopatra. I don't need but maybe a pea size and it lasts for hours - use too much and you get greasy. The tube lasts me nearly 3 months. It's a bit pricey - but since it's so effective, the price works out. That said, I also love Avon moisturizers. Different ones for different needs and all time tested. I do wish I could figure out what ingredient causes burning. Even Nivea creme burns. I'm about to just stick my hands in a can of Crisco. Or I should just order myself some more Tocca and stop trying to use up everything else I have. LOL

    Great video. I worked in a hospital for almost 30 years. I found the best hand cream for me is CeraVe Moisturizing Cream Normal to Dry Rich Texture. It even softens my feet which is impressive.

    I was surprised you didn't review any EOS hand creams.

      @@infinitegraces I was surprised on that one, too. I love their Calming scent.

      I had a call out on Twitter and no one requested EOS. I picked 15 of the top recommended. I think there were almost 40 mentioned. Do the EOS work for you?

      @@infinitegraces Bath and Body Works don't list their hand cream ingredients online. I put a little mention after The Body Shop, but it was easy to miss. :)

      @@jenluv EOS is a good product. You just don't get much in the bottle for the price. I wouldn't have listed ones without their ingredients available, either. People with allergies need to have that information!

    Another amazing product is the C.O. Bigelow Chapped Hands Remedy. I used it on super dry and chapped parts of my face in the winter too.

    I love this video! I do think you missed a very critical category:
    Odds of busting your tail in the shower 🤪
    Can’t tell you how many times I put my lotion on my feet the night before and almost bit it in the shower the next day. 😝
    I’ve started using a local lotion maker. No fragrance means NO fragrance! (Bad perfume allergies)

    Thank you for the info I've been rubbing my hands with olive oil every night before bed and when I'm cooking so far my hands are very happy. I'm allergic to a few of these but will look into the others

    A great tip if/ when you’re going through a large amount of hand cream is to use body butter, fragrance free or otherwise. The ingredients are generally just as good, if not better. Some of my faves are Trader Joe’s, Skinfix, & Jason’s, all of which are also cruelty free.

    Wonderful, thorough and informative from a quality and price standpoint. This is a must watch video before buying a ANY hand cream.
